This side of the rouge is not good for day hikers. It's a great spot for a view or casual hangout on a bench or shirt walk. The informal trails here (the ones without signs) go through wetlands and meadows with 8ft tall plants and fireants.

Starting at zoo Rd and going to the orchard or vista trails are better options

Small trail that leads to an outlook point that overlooks Rouge national park. Beautiful spot, quick walk and accessible for dogs

The Mast Trail runs along Rouge River. It goes over a small hill with a forest. We visited during winter but I am sure the Fall colour would have been nice. In the summer, when the water is clear, you can spot small fish and sometimes crayfish in the river. As with all other Ontario parks, there is a tick warning sign but I don't think tick incidents are frequent as long as you don't walk outside the designated trail. A round trip takes about 3 to 4 hours, depending on your pace. The trail is kid friendly. You can plan a half day family day out and enjoy nature in the forest.

Mid Aug 2022, weekday. The trails is short and close to Sheppard. Road noise is much. Walk a dog ritual might be fine when effort could not be afforded much.

Rouge is always lovely. Photos are from Mast and Riverside trails. Very buggy, in your face buggy. Lots of trees down on the Riverside Trail. Trail completely dry today, no mud. Hike is almost fully shaded which is nice.

With the main parking lot closed, hike starts with a sketchy walk along the narrow 2 lane road.

I didn't know about the ticks, which made me glad that I was wearing heavy clothing. At least there are no coyotes in Rouge National Urban Park. It's an interesting way to leave Toronto and cross into Pickering.

This is more of a lookout point than a trail in terms of the Rouge Park system. The associated trail is very short and connects into Sheppard Ave. However, it has some parking available and is accessible.

Recommended as a short walking trail to accompany after completing the longer Rouge Park trails first.

I'm so glad this land has been assembled as a National Urban Park. There were a couple of washrooms, Johnny-on-the-spot- type. They could use more washrooms and more parking but right now the wild lilacs are beautiful! And so many caterpillars that I suppose one day will be butterflies!

Who needs algonquin, when you have a little piece of paradise in your own backyard. Drive by on Old finch road and Twyn Rivers drive for an amazing fall drive, right here in the heart of the city. Multiple hiking trails and parking spots to enjoy at various breathtaking locations along the river. @Rouge National Urban Park

Nice place to stop at when walking by or waiting for the bus. Relaxing and beautiful lookout spot, especially in autumn and at sunrise or sunset.

The trail is shorter than I expected. Very close to the street that you can hear cars zooming by.

There's not many places in the city you can see a view like this, a distant horizon and nothing but the rouge valley, conserved and wild, between you. And yet, you can take it in from a TTC bus stop!
