Nice venue, fantastic location.but had the wedding we attended shut down early by the mgt?

The royal ambassador is a wonderful venue. I recently had my fall wedding there and everything was perfect. Stella was quick with responding to my emails. The day of, each team member working our event were kind and helpful. The food was amazing they made the bride and groom a plate from the cocktail hour, the service was excellent. Whenever a small situation appeared they were on it and solved it within seconds. For our guest signing board my marker didn't work and one of the team members noticed and quickly grabbed me a marker so wonderful. Me and my husband had a wonderful experience with this venue. We fell in love with their landscaping and lakeside gazebo right away! Everything was perfect our guest were talking about our wedding days after. A huge gratitude towards Lora she made our experience there lovely! Thank you royal ambassador for making our dream wedding come true! Highly recommend!

What an amazing place. 3 weddings, but you wouldn't know. Except maybe need some better signage. Beautiful grounds. Great food. They brought food and drinks to us while we were standing around waiting for family to take pictures. Then we went and sat down and they brought hot horderves! Then supper, dessert and then at 10ish BBQ meat skewers! We didn't feel rushed
Staff was attentive. Open bar with great non alcoholic choices. So often we get only water or coffee. Pineapple juice, oj, mixed, sodas, plus. We had a wonderful time. Gorgeous grounds. Highly recommend for any event!

Attended a wedding here a few weeks ago as a member of the bridal party, the venue was mediocre. The view was spectacular otherwise everything was just not worth the price. The bridal suite was small and looked like it was a time capsule from the 1990s with beat up furnitures. The food was quite disappointing, the steak dinner was way overcooked. There was barely any communication from the venue throughout the night and even before hand (according the the bride and groom). We have accidentally left a couple items that night, the bride has reached out but there hasn't been any response as to what happened to those items, let alone any chance of getting them back. If you are offering a place and service for people to celebrate a day of love and happiness, do better. For those looking for a venue to host their wedding, this is not a hard one to skip.

We had our wedding here a few weeks ago, and the only great thing about this venue is the incredible views and picturesque greenery. Unless you have a wedding planner, I would avoid this place and save yourself the stress of dealing with this venue - they just give you the event space and are basically hands-off for everything else.

Starting with our venue tour, they double booked us with another couple and had to scramble to find someone else to show us around. Afterwards we were assigned a contact to look after our event, but she never responded to our emails unless we included her boss. The only time we heard from her directly was when she called to ask for our deposit. We never heard from her again after that.

Our event detailer was much more responsive and helpful, although there were a lot of things that we had to ask to find out about (eg.signature drinks were never mentioned, but we found out they’re available after we asked specifically).

On our wedding day, we were told the coordinators would be around if we needed anything, but we never saw them and they were never introduced to us. We noticed they missed setting up a table, and had to show the setup staff our approved floor plan from their portal (which apparently glitched and didn’t show that table on their side) for them to realize their mistake - thank you to the staff for correcting this quickly.

The food was below average and did not match the quality at our menu tasting - my own steak was way overcooked, and we heard similar comments from our guests. My bridesmaids also had to ask the staff at least 3 times to get a plate of food into the bridal suite for me.

Overall not a great experience with RA, and I’m not sure if the scenery was worth the subpar service.

I was a guest here at a wedding. The place is really pretty, which I suppose is the main attraction of this venue.

The problem is the management strive to cram as many weddings into one day that it really ruins the wedding experience.

We saw multiple weddings happening at the same time across the property, and the ceremony i was at was getting rushed out the door so that they could do another. They were rushing us out before our timeslot was even finished because there is no gap between timeslots. The staff at the venue were all arrogant, threw out a whole bunch of belongings and good that belonged to the bride and groom and it generally ruined the feel and experience of the wedding.

If you are considering having your wedding here, dont fall for the scenery, I promise you will regret the experience. I spoke with the bride and groom whom let me know that planning was difficult as the venue is really picky about what you can and cannot do. The wedding planners and florists even mentioned this to the bride and groom well before the wedding took place.

The staff at this venue dont care about making your wedding your special day, they care about cramming weddings in back to back to make as much revenue in a day as possible.

They will behave nicely up until the start of the ceremony, then they will make an immediate turn for the worst.

I feel the need to repeat the fact that I was simply a guest here, yet I felt so bad for the bride and groom that I needed to write this review to warn others.

Dont get married at a wedding factory like this. The management is predetory and awful.

First thing is first, the Lakeside View ceremony is beautiful…
Other than that, we went for a tour few weeks ago & Nicholas that emails his customers & gives the tours really sugar coats the answers. We hoped to put our reception in the Greenhouse and it’s nothing special.it’s like walking into a Shed with white sheets hanging down.the fairy lights that hang from the ceiling is beautiful but surprise! You have to pay $800 for them.completely ridiculous.
From the other venues that I’ve visited, they offer them within your price.
They really money munch everything. You want this small thing, you have to pay extra, you want the DJ to plug in a cord into their wall, they want money - it’s absolutely absurd that people want their weddings here.
The ballrooms are soooo outdated I’m shocked that people still have that style.no wonder he kept pushing us to the ballrooms while we kept saying that it’s not our style at all.we wanted the Greenhouse but the MIN capacity is 175 and for Sunday he said he would push it down for 150. (we have 120 guests) and we would have to pay for those extra “people” absolutely ridiculous.
The tour just made us so exhausted, waste of time, I only recommend coming here for a ceremony not the actual reception cause wow cause just wow.you will spend around $60,000 for all the “extras” they want from your wallet. Please put that money somewhere else - please always trust reviews!

My fiance and I have explored a dozen venues in the area. The Royal Ambassador is our choice! The gardens are beautifully taken care of. Mature trees and a picturesque lake with gazebo makes the perfect spot for our wedding. Not to mention the staff are so lovely and kind to each other. The building is clean, well maintained, and has positive vibes flowing from it. We are looking forward to planning our wedding with The Royal Ambassador. Photos and update to come!

Recently attended a wedding here and was sorely disappointed. I've been the best man at many weddings and this one had to have been the worst venue in terms of organization and service. It rained on the day of the wedding (heavy downpour, but it was very brief and finished just before the start of the outdoor ceremony). There were no staff that attempted to dry the chairs and luckily the bride and groom were very well prepared and brought extra towels just in case of rain. The guests were left to dry everything.

In addition to the above, the bride and groom were labouring the entire morning of their wedding to clean and organize the ceremony area; there were roughly 200 chairs present for their wedding of roughly 50 guests and rather than having the appropriate number of seats to accommodate the guests, the venue expects their clients to have their ceremonies with an excess of 100+ empty chairs! This is absolutely ridiculous. Venues are made aware of the guest count well in advance and, like the reception, have the matching number of seats for the guests. THIS venue, however, doesn't seem to care and if you don't want a sea of empty seats in your wedding video, you have to figure out a way to move the chairs yourself. I'm sure the bride and groom didn't appreciate that, ESPECIALLY on the morning of their wedding.

On to the food: the appetizer was a cucumber salad, and while the presentation was nice, there was absolutely no flavour. Think of having some lettuce and cucumber. There was NO dressing. I thought I may have gotten a one-off, but it seems every guest I spoke with had the same complaint of "no dressing" on the salad. The main was tenderloin, and it was mentioned to be 8oz, but it seemed significantly smaller than that. The gravy was good though. The desert was good (lava cake)

There was also a late night station, which was supposed to be available between 9pm and midnight; it started much later than that and was packed away earlier than 11pm.

I feel extremely sorry for the bride and groom as the staff seemed to rush everyone out way before midnight (again, keep in mind that the late night station was cleared out BEFORE 11PM). There were still guests there and the staff started clearing the tablecloths and putting the chairs on the tables. A group of them kept hovering around and while we didn't mind that they partook in some of the activities (took many pictures using the supplied photo booth), they made it clear that they wanted the wedding party out as soon as possible. The bride also didn't get a chance to eat her dinner nor dessert (these were left on the head table as she was doing her rounds and duties, and she specifically asked it to be left there, but the staff clearly did not care and cleared away everything, very visibly showing everyone that THEY (the staff) were done for the night, and NOT caring about the time nor guests that were present

I'd give the service negative stars if I could. The decor, however, and outside ceremony area were quite nice though. So I suppose that deserves 1 star

We had our wedding at the Greenhouse and had an amazing experience at the Royal Ambassador. We mainly dealt with Stella, and she was incredibly easy to work with. A very genuine and caring person. The event staff were very courteous and caring of all of our guests. Amazing team and venue!

My wife and I recently went to The Consulate Restaurant for dinner, and our experience there was fantastic! The atmosphere, service, and quality of food was worth every penny. Our server was an absolute gentlemen, and even bought us a drink at the end of our meal. The Consulate is a perfect gem in Caledon and if you haven't visited this establishment, you're missing out.

Nice venue. Wedding. The young servers were adorably terrible in their job- very intrusive, over reaching to a second or a third person to place or remove dishes; spilling sauce all over the the dishes; taking unfinished drink and plates; slamming the plates at serving etc. It was very entertaining in a way. Worst serving job I have ever seen. Not their fault, the selection system and the training are the keys.
- long lineups for any drinks in small wedding speaks for itself.
- No veggie options were considered in advance, thankfully the Chef maid something with squash, untasty but at least the effort was there.
- The guy behind the mike was either with earplugs or did not care about anyone else, so loud.
Like I said, nice venue with a lakeview.:)

Service, quality, and ambience. Whether you’re catering, dining in, attending a function, or needing event rental items or staff - they do it all, and they do it well. John and Daisy are incredible owners and we’ve always loved attending and also personally using the Royal Ambassador for our special events for the past 15 years.

Updating my original review from 3 years ago as we actually got married here in June 2022!
We were in the Greenhouse Room and everything was absolutely perfect. The staff were all so accommodating, friendly and efficient. Leading up to the wedding we worked with John, Stella, Diana & Deysi. They were all incredibly great to work with. They were easy to get ahold of, patient with any questions we had / changes to make & very knowledgeable of the venue.
The day of the wedding everything went so smoothly. The food was excellent! We had the premium antipasto which was great. Then we had Pasta with the Alfredo sauce. That sauce was a crowd favourite! The bacon wrapped filet mignon was cooked perfectly as well. Our late night stations of crepes, waffles, ice cream and lamb & beef spiducci were both a huge hit too.

The staff working our event were phenomenal. Paneet, Cassandra, Julia, Harleen and the rest of the staff catered to everyone’s needs and did it with a huge smile on their faces. They truly made our night perfect with their service.

Thank you to everyone at the Royal Ambassador for the most memorable day & perfect wedding. You have exceeded our already high expectations and we are so glad we choose to get married here!

Attended a wedding here in August and I was absolutely blown away by this venue! The grounds were spectacular and we got a ton of beautiful pictures. The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly. I’ve been telling everyone I know about the wonderful experience I had at this place.

Beautiful banquet! So pretty and romantic. Perfect for a wedding or special occasion. Food was good.

Great venue and staff is always very helpful. The location is beautifully located in Caledon. Love this venue for weddings and pre events. However the venue could use some upgrades in certain areas. They are strict on being done events at a certain time.

If I could give a zero I would just attended the wedding at this venue last Friday
It was a very special wedding with a very special bride who required wheelchair accessibility which this venue is not equipped for
The main course was pretty much airplane food at which the servers kept coming at you every 2 mins wanting to take your plate away
The venue endorsed in house DJ and MC were a massive disaster… they kept playing music from the 90’s and 80’s the tone they set was awful…don’t get wrangled into using these guys … it was an open bar however there was this particular bar tender who was taking his time pouring drinks creating lines to a point guest would leave exasperated from waiting.it was ominous to say the least. The outside vendors used for specialty food and services used by the wedding party saved the day thank god
The most important thing on everyone’s mind was to celebrate a very courageous and special couple who with mind spinning tragedy made it to this special day together unfortunately this venue fell short of supporting and carrying the needs of this special couple.
I would think twice … long and hard before booking this venue. I traveled 3 days to attend this special wedding I couldn’t help but spend the night I observing the venue and those serving

I would like to share my experience as a guest at a wedding at the Royal Ambassador. It was not the best wedding I have attended. I found the wedding to be very disorganized.
It didn't start on time.
We were told the cocktails and appetizers were going to be served outside but they weren't which created confusion amongst the guests. My daughter who has a food allergy couldn't get a definitive answer from the wait staff regarding some of the dishes. None of the appetizers were labelled.
The wait staff were like vultures. They were taking drinks and dishes off the table before you were even finished. In fact, the toasts and speeches were going on and they were coming around taking the champagne glasses from the table. I had to intervene. I had just put the last piece of dessert in my mouth and they swooped in and took my plate.
I had a very difficult time understanding the MC and the DJ wasn't very good.
For those who smoke there were no outdoor ashtrays or garbage receptacles or any indication where smoking was allowed.

I was at the second banquet hall, somewhat in the back.
Excellent venue for the wedding ceremony.

The outdoor pavilion where the function was held has the sunset right into the crowd.

Beautiful setting. Attended a wedding celebration, food was good, a good time had by all. Lots of daylight coming through the picture windows made it more special.

We have booked this place for our event for early July. The staff are very polite and professional. We dealt with Daisy, who is also the co-owner of this place. She was very kind and professional to work with. We are looking forward to meeting her again, and we are very excited as the days are getting closer. I strongly recommend this place

We had our wedding (both the ceremony and reception) at the Royal Ambassador last weekend. The entire process was made easier by Diana who was always available to help answer any questions. On the day of, Diana helped to ensure everything was in order for our big day. The staff was amazing as well! They did an incredible job making sure that our guests, as well as, ourselves were well taken care of. In addition, our guests cannot stop expressing how delicious the food was.

We arrived early for our function and there was no person to talk to or reception or any meaningful information to guide new visitors. No signs or directions to either hall. We got quite tired trying to find the proper hall venue

Never to book this place even though it's picturesque and looks beautiful but one can find hundreds of such places. People managing this place should not be in hospitality as a) they don't have time to speak to the clients as they are over busy (as if clients have time), b) they will not confirm the request for your the event even though as client they may have charged me in advance 99% of bill.c) everytime a new person will come on call with different requests and interestingly all will claim to be General Manager d) one person who needs special mention here is xxx xxxxxxxx - claims to be general manager, doesn't have basic courtesy to speak to a client, doesn't shy from following unethical practice of charging clients without authorization and lastly, instead of apologetic, blame clients for getting angry for her behavior. She will be the last nail to end of popularity of this place.
Clearly they want full advance payment as there's a no ownership and responsibility on them to provide the best experience - it is a lifetime event for you but it's a daily stuff for them. Hence they don't care what happens to client's event.

Horrible food. The exterior is nice with picturesque views but the interior is very dated and in need of a complete overhaul. Service was mediocre but expected from a banquet hall. The food though is very bad. Almost inedible.

Spectacular venue but zero points for service. Have you ever heard that a wedding venue charges a fee ($200) for use of washrooms and a 10x10 bridal suite? The owner/operators were trying everything possible to squeeze dollars from our niece.

The Royal Ambassador was a great venue to work with. We booked them for our 2020 wedding back in 2018 after we fell in love with everything about the venue. We postponed once due to covid and ended up having our wedding in May 2021. During the whole process, Stella was very helpful and reassuring. They worked with us to accommodate us as best as possible given the different restrictions. Stella was great at communicating with me over the years and helped calm me down during the process. Our ceremony was stunning at the lakeside gazebo. The scenery and perfectly manicured grounds never cease to amazing me - and our pictures turned out amazing with the scenery in the background. They provided us with catering to take home as covid restrictions prevented us from having our reception and the food was AMAZING. Our guests all kept complimenting everything that we ate (the beef tenderloin was phenomenal). I am so thankful to the Royal Ambassador and Stella for my wedding experience and would highly recommend this venue. Thank you again!

My husband and I had our wedding yesterday June19,2021 and it was amazing! Big thank you to Daisy, Diana, Stella and all the staff. Our wedding was moved outside due to COVID restrictions indoors and it could not have worked out better! Daisy, Stella and Diana were incredibly easy to deal with from beginning to end for our wedding, they set up our tent on the terrace where we had a beautiful view of the gardens, the food was excellent, staff was friendly and attentive. Our guests gave lots of great feedback, everyone said the food was excellent and they were stuffed! They couldn't believe how much food there was to eat. We highly recommend hiring The royal Ambassador for your special wedding day!

Loved this place. Bit expensive but worth for lifetime experience and memories.

Very bad service and a total rip off. Rude staff and make things very difficult by changing booking times without notice. I would not recommend this location to any one. The only good thing about the venue is the natural beauty with a beautiful lake side setting. I wish the management would be more service oriented and curtious to customers.
