Great neighborhood spot for a pizza and a pint (or other great food). Patio in the summer and a large party area with pool tables too.

Warm, comfortable, clean interiors; focused, enticing menu: attentive lovely service with special mention of Robert. Joined a few friends for lunch on Sunday. I had the burger with bacon which was fresh tasty and fairly priced. My friend had a delicious looking Cobb salad with tuna sashimi and my other friend had a chicken wrap with Caesar. Great place to meet and relax. Notably outstanding service.

This place actually isn't that nice. Pool tables are okay but it's rather old and dated. But what is excellent is the wait staff. They make it a pleasure to come and they keep me coming back. Ask for Ameritas. She's an amazing waitress who remembers names and drinks like no one I know.

A great patio on Avenue with some comfort classics like a great caesar salad, wraps and delicious wings! Great service as well!

One of our favourite local places, very dog and kid friendly, the hostess always makes you feel welcome. The food is always tasty and they have a great patio for summer drinks/dining. Highly recommend

Slow service, small portions, BUT good vibe.

Ordered the tribal salad with shrimps. Not that great to be honest. It was too small for $20+… was still hungry. Got the bruschetta pizza, stayed hungry but at least ate a delicious pizza. So yes. Get the pizza, forget the salad. But probably order more than one pizza if you’re hungry.

Went there for drinks with friends. The reason for such a low score is that we were greeted by the server as "guys. " Then when our friends show up, who were women, were also greeted as "guys. " Not only does this term demean women and abolishes our worth, it cuts us to the core! Be inclusive, greet us as ladies, that is who we are! We are not men. News flash, this greeting is now considered a "politically incorrect" word to use. Hence the reason for the low tip! Establishments should prohibits the use of "you guys" when addressing women, girls, ladies, transgender, cisgender etc, unless you ARE a man. Even if you see a man and woman in your establishment, don't call them "guys. "

We came for a late lunch on a Friday. The place wasn't crowded and we could choose were to sit. I had a lamb burger which was OK but not great (I like mine thicker and medium, but the waitress said they do it more towards well). The fries were tasty. We also had chicken wings which were nice.
Overall everything was nice and the prices are fair, but I can't say anything was extraordinary.

Fantastic service, really great waitress and bartender. The appetizers were on point and delicious but the mains were kinda bland. That said the atmosphere and service still made this place I'd want to visit again.

Our son had a Basketball tournament today just a 2km down the street, we decided to come out for. Bite to eat before we headed back home. The staff and food were absolutely amazing, Cindy was so awesome! The back of house did an amazing job considering it was packed on the patio… due to Mother Nature giving us this amazing weather! Great job to entire team!

This restaurant is absolutely a gem! While making my reservation the staff were encouraging and attentive on the phone which is important for me. Our party was so amazing and my server even shared with me how much they enjoyed serving us. My family loved the chef’s specials and of course the wine. We couldn’t be happier with our experience. Two of us went for there for lunch at my suggestion. I want to like it because It used to be good, but it's so bad I'll never come back. Caesar salad was bland and partially wilted. Croutons were tiny and tasteless. Grilled shrimp lacked spice/flavor and were room temp. Coffee was served with cream (or milk?) that hadn't thawed enough, so obviously had been frozen.

I started with a diet pepsi which was completly flat! We had chicken wings which tasted like they were cooked in a 3 weeks old smelly oil, and wings themselves had no flavour at all.

The Ceasar salad was made with 4-5 days old romaine lettuce which was filled with black and rotten corner! The service was super slow, even though ot was a slow Sunday night! I would avoid this place!

I've only eaten here once, had the safari salad, not great, too much dressing. Also tried the friend calamari, better than the salad but overall, mediocre experience with the meal. Place itself was fine enough and the service was just ok.

Visited Safari Bar and Grill for the first time on a Sunday night. The wait staff and bartender where incredibly thoughtful and accommodating. The food was fresh, cooked as requested, hot and delicious AND they have a huge selection of food for gluten sensitive individuals. The patio was covered and heated, which will be very useful when it rains or gets colder, and there was a great games room upstairs. It was a truly memorable visit, and I hope to return soon!

Used to be a great place but they've shut down. Not sure if it's for Reno or down for good. Too bad

Had a great experience with Ryan as our server this evening. I went for dinner and I was incredibly impressed with his courteous and humorous approach. He provided exceptional suggestions with the menu and was friendly, considerate and beyond hospitable. I dine out often and felt compelled to let the manager know that I truly believe he is one of the best in the business. He was accessible and catered to us with such a genuine energy. Looking forward to going back again soon!

How cute is this place! Found it on a whim while searching for restaurants with a patio. Was initially concerned that it was in the heart of the ghetto based on my drive to get there, but boy did it exceed my expectations!
We shared the grilled calamari, portion was small but delicious in a red sauce, same with the cajun rubbed shrimp tacos, (3) small tortillas but so tasty. The green pizza was great too, a little heavy on the red peppers but the combination with the basil puree was delish.
The patio is gorgeous, I would sit closer to the inside if your concerned about pesky bees and flies, they're definitely attracted to the food and lovely flowers hanging around the perimeter. Service was good, staff seems a bit overwhelmed at times but still received great service.
I'd definitely visit again.

No vegan options. I got stuck ordering a plain salad (had to ask for it without the chicken) and it still came with a big chunk of chicken. Didn't realize it was chicken (the salad had artichokes in it so thought it was an artichoke at first), until I took a bite. Returned it and got a "new" bowl but it wasn't appetizing enough to finish. Despite the mixup and a large feature of the dish being excluded (i.e. The chicken), I was still charged $14.99 for mostly lettuce. Also, to get to the washroom to wash your hands, you have to go through and open two doors as the washrooms are located upstairs. There's no paper towel in them, only an air dryer, so if your intent is to wash your hands before eating, you have to touch two doorknobs/handles to leave the washroom and get back to your table. Kind of defeats the purpose of limiting the spread of germs. Only reason I gave two stars is because the staff was nice enough otherwise and the patio was clean.

Great patio spot in the city. Lots of cover so opportunity for both sun and shade and avoid the rain. Awesome staff. Food is delicious. They are very accommodating. Can get a little pricey but based on location in the city, comes with the territory. A definite recommend.

Not sure why this place doesn't have a higher rating but been here twice now and I'm such a fan! Their market fish wrap is to die for. It tastes like a Baja fish taco but in a wrap. Delicious! Tuscany chicken club is also really really good.that olive spread goes so well with the chicken and definitely elevates it from a typical club sandwich. I also really like their sweet potato fries. They are always seasoned perfectly. Patio is covered so even if it rains you will be able to enjoy your meal. There is a pool hall upstairs which is awesome if you're into that pass time. Our server also makes a mean Cesar cocktail! It was literally perfectly seasoned. We found out they got brunch on Sundays, so that's what I'm going to come back to next. Service both times has been really really good. Seriously great spot!

Awful experience.
We decided last minute to go out for our anniversary we were excited, because we had a last minute child care offer after years of not going out as a couple.
We arrived at Safari and waiting about 5 mins to be seated. The servers passed by many times and largely ignored us. I went inside to find a server who sat us. Withing 2 mins we were asked to move to make space for a larger party. We stood awkwardly on the patio until the server rearranged the tables for the larger party, then waited again for another table to be opened.
We waited 15 mins to order, where 2 tables that arrived after us had been already served their drinks. And they were having their dinner orders taken. After almost 30 mins of being ignored we tried unsuccessfully to notify management. We ended up leaving.
It really ruined an evening that should have been such a nice treat, not to mention our anniversary.

Consistently great service and kind staff make Safari the ideal place for any occasion. Highly recommend to anyone and everyone.

Warm drinks, cold food and a racist waiter with a bad attitude. A perfect storm of reasons not to go here. Will not be spending my money there any time soon.

Patio now open! Although all the food is great here, I've always loved their hand rolled pizzas. Great selection of appetizers too. We treated ourselves to the flourless chocolate brownie for dessert.

Great dine in and take out experiences! The patio was really nice and spaced out back when we were allowed to dine outside. Recently went back for take out and really enjoyed the food as well. Awesome service from Laura. Will be back, especially when we can sit on a patio again!

Beef Short ribs were great and portion was big. Bit too much rice for me. Forgot the name of the salad but it had chicken in it. Absolutely "to die for! " Its big. Best eaten as a light meal or shared. The ultimate piece to this meal was the flourless chocolate cake!
Meal was reasonable in cost and huge amount of food for me!
For gluten free and dairy free aflicted people the selection is small but they do have gluten free alternatives but not dairy free. Still for the few item that are available for both dietary issues is great!

A family bar in the midtown area. The food is way overpriced for what it is, and not all staff are friendly. I went there last for the world cup final with my cousin who was in town, they didn’t have non-alcoholic drinks even tho they are a family spot. The one thing this place has going for itself is the upstairs; there is a ping pong table and some pool tables in the 2nd floor.

What a brutal experience, love the patio and that was about it. My wife and I attempted to go for dinner. After waiting about an hour we chased down 1 and then a second waiter, then the manager and no one had a clue. After another 25 minutes we left and went to Subway. The service at the Bathurst and Glengarry location was excellent.

Disgusting! Went to get some food with friends. Had a burger that was over cooked and tasteless and my friend found 2 long hairs in the chicken fettuccini pasta he ordered. Would never go again!

We had a great time there, a few beers and talk. Nice open space sitting is a must in Toronto's summer weather, esp in the evening.

Went to watch the First Raptors playoff game here with my buddy. Great beers on tap and the wings are still unreal!

We were a big group of people and the staff wasn't prepared to serve the food quickly enough (we had to wait more than one hour to get served). My Caesar salad was quite tasty but my burger was below standard (the meat had an odd flavour). Probably a miss if you are a foodie.

Pretty good food. The pizza was definitely above average. Staff very friendly and engaging. Excellent outdoor summer patio. Relatively clean. The decor could use a sprucing up.it's getting kind of old and dated. Some of the pool cues were missing their tips. Still all in all a really good time

I feel you can do better at these prices. The server was nice but the service was on the slow side. The food itself was underwhelming.at least the burger.

We had alot of fun at upstairs sports bar.

The burgers are good, the curry chicken had very very little chicken. About 2 ounces and mostly potatoes covering the dish yet we pay extra to add on chicken.
The server we initially had knew nothing about the menu or the beers they even had or didn’t have. It took us 40 minutes to actually get an order through for our food. We were the only ones there. Some of our drinks were forgotten, some of our food was mixed up and it turned out to be just a bit of a mess. Other than their food I wouldn’t go there anymore. The Irish bartender upstairs was friendly and knowledgeable I’ll give you that.

Great location.party was upstairs for hockey league party. Staff was attentive, food was great! Only issue was the area was to cold. Everyone including myself were cold. Otherwise a fantastic place!

The food is delicious. Red pizza was the best pizza my father has ever had (and he's a foodie). The burger was big and juicy. Lamb burger was awesome. Staff is amazing. Upstairs is perfect for a game of pool and game watching. New favourite.

Delightful local with friendly staff and good quality food. Nice selection of import and interesting beers on tap, surprisingly nice wines by the bottle and glass with a comfortable atmosphere. Billiards and sports on the upper level.

Safari is my favourite restaurant to go with my family, food is always good and the servers are very friendly, I usually order the chicken wrap or pasta. Upstairs is fun with friends, pool tables, table tennis and lots of TVs, the bartenders let us play our own music as well, which is really cool.

Updating my rating from a 5 to a 1, here's why.

My party arrived at Safari a little past 9: 00pm on a Sunday. Upon entering the restaurant the staff told us the downstairs was closed and we could eat up stairs. Alright, no problem. My group heads upstairs and sits down, the waitress informs us she would be with us for a moment as she wanted to have a cigarette. Fair enough, no problem.

After some time our orders are taken for two sodas, a water, a Burger with Cheese, a Forest Pizza, and a Coconut Curry. 30 minutes later the Burger and Curry arrives, our server informs us she dropped the pizza. A ketchup bottle was thrown on the table as a condiment by the hostess, no utensils or serviettes were provided - I retrieved them from the bar for my two friends and I.

The pizza arrives 10 minutes later, delivered by who I presume was the owner, this person shared their disdain for the server.

What appeared to be spite (I presume for her work) coming from the server resulted in my questioning the capabilities of the ownership of this establishment.

Otherwise, the food was adequate, nothing fancy for a late Sunday night, but certainly not something to phone home about. Adequate is the appropriate word.

Compounding the above with the lack of cleanliness (tables not cleared, menus dirty) I don't see myself visiting this place again.

Love it! We've become regulars since trying the restaurant for the first time last year. Gluten free options are available which is vital for me. The ambience is warm and friendly and in the warmer months, the outdoor patio is lovely. They lost one star because the last time I had the chicken wings, which I often order, did not taste fresh. Hoping that was just an off day, because up until that point the wings had always been wonderful.

Like the varied menu and attentive service however the tastiness of the food leaves something lacking. My pasta dish was an ample portion but very bland and lacking in flavour for the price.

One of my favourite spots in north toronto for a great meal and good late night hangs. The pool tables up stairs are awesome!

Great place in the summer with the open areas good meeting place for a quick bite and a drink. I'd recommend it to anyone who happens to be in that area it's always been a highlight in the North Avenue Road area.

Love Safari, guess you could call us "regulars", we live in the neighbourhood and Safari has always been our go to place for a good meal. The servers are all very friendly, we have seen many come and go but management has a knack for hiring nice people who take the time to learn our names and actually talk to our kids, lol.

Great food, lively atmosphere. Get to drink play pool or ping pong and watch games on the tv what more can you ask for.

A casual but well put together place. A good vibe from staff and customers alike. They accomodated our food order and were attentive the entire evening. A great little gem to be discovered.

There is a lot to like about Safari. It features a large patio, diverse drink selection, and daily specials. Upstairs is a loud bar atmosphere with pool and ping pong tables. The main floor is fitting for date night with dimmed and accent lighting, and candles.

This was my local fave restaurant for many years- I still go back whenever I am in Toronto- great salads and the Lamb burger is one of my favourite meals. Draft beer and a large selection of wines- pool tables upstairs!

We've been going for many years. Never had a bad meal there- the service is always good and the food is hot and fresh. I enjoy the patio in summer.
