Very nice trails, some challenging and others are easy for beginners. The large pond has fish, birds and turtles to see.

I love this conservation and I come here all the time during the summer but it has stopped since pandemic and the conservation has changed a lot as well. They need to renovate the bedrock around the pond. This place is not what is used to be. You can go fishing here and walk and hike as well. They have different trails here and its just nice. When you come in you'll see the map of the place.

There is plenty of parking for this wonderful wetland park surrounding a glorious large pond hosting geese and many different types of fish. Bring the kids and some rods or maybe just a good book. Attached to this wonderful park is a hike trail like no other. Better bring a walking stick, this is a serious trail!

Wonderfully stocked lake. There are many winding paths through the woods for any level of hiker. The fishing is out of this world. Great place to go if you want to get your little ones into fishing. Lots of sunfish and trout to be caught. There is even a dock to help get out to the deeper water. Open 8-8 it's the place to be for all your outdoor adventure needs.

It's always so nice visiting this area. Most people are considerate, friendly, and pleasantly chatty. I met a young man here last year that was interested in looking at all the different spider species he could find. The pond out back looks like something out of a fantasy novel. If you're able to get there, I highly recommend checking it out.

Great little place to bring kids and a dog. There is a path with stones that go around a pond and then there are off the beaten track trails to go on as well. Kids love to hunt for mushroom and toss pebbles in the pond. And there were 6 dogs at the park the day we went. Great little hiking area. Could easily spend an hour there.

Still such a gem in Niagara. Excellent place for families, and teaching young ones about nature. Also a great spot if you want to go for a short relaxed hike
21 August 2022 14:20
Amazing place that brings you back to nature. Lots of well kept trails around the park, some are a bit more challenging but there is also a wide smooth path around the pond that is suitable for strollers.

Great place to bring the kids fishing, water is shallow so mainly smaller fish but your guaranteed to nibbles if you bring worms.
18 August 2022 7:25
Another superb conservation area operated by Niagara Parks. There is a large pond here for fishing - loads of bluegill sunfish. This is a great place for birding too. Watch for the visiting Green Heron. On the trails you may hear the Indigo Buntings and Hooded Warblers. Lots of other species too that are difficult to find elsewhere.
03 August 2022 13:01
Good place to take your kids to teach them how to fish, full of Sunfish and small bass. Usually very busy on the weekends to plan accordingly.
30 June 2022 8:03
Great place for all ages, only downsides are of course inaccessibility for strollers and wheelchairs. Although this would be a great place for the whole family to enjoy! Mind your whereabouts though, it's a big place and it's not too difficult to get lost. It tends to be quite muddy with the occasional high hike, but the views are awesome. Would recommend
02 June 2022 1:20
Perfect place to bring kids. Lots of wildlife to see, the pond trail is good for strollers, and the accessible dock is a good place to fish from
20 May 2022 15:20
Great trails end of April into May trout available in pond. Bathroom on site. Great for walks with family.
22 April 2022 6:46
Nice walk, not very long. We visited it in winter, some days after a snow storm. The landscape was wonderful, but certainly it is a nice place to go no matter the season! Good for taking the kids.
15 April 2022 19:15
Great for a leisurely family walk around the pond. Stroller friendly for that section. If you are feeling more like a hike, there are various trails through the conservation area as well. Always worth going!

A picturesque little hike in the Niagara area. Feels like you're away from everything. It has a mix of shorter and longer trails.

There are some challenging hills depending on your fitness level.

The path can be muddy in places.

As a bonus our party met 6 deer in the area.
31 December 2021 13:52
Great area for hiking, trails were easy to follow and well maintained. Lots of cute doggos to enjoy the hike with. Even my cat had a good time!
28 December 2021 21:54
Great place for a hike! Trails are marked according to how long each one will take. The pond usually has ducks and/or geese, and lots of frogs in the spring and summer.fun for kids of all ages. Fun family activity.
06 December 2021 22:43
Clear trails, with varying difficulty. We have been going here since our kids were in a stroller. There is a wide, accessible cement path that goes around the pond and several non-wheelchair-accessible paths through the woods. Very pretty, a fun place to explore.

Love this location, plenty of hiking trails, beautiful water walking path and dock. Gorgeous in the fall.
19 August 2021 20:26
Want a quick hike without traveling far or not having to jump rocks or cliffs. This is the place for you. They have different hike paths that each have their own time. AND they call lead to the same pond.
11 August 2021 19:14
Great place for a short hike. Trails are maintained and there are a couple of options for different difficulties, or just take a stroll around the pond.
27 July 2021 5:29
Super nice place to take children. Try your luck fishing, go for a hike on one of the trails or just relax on one of the shaded benches. It was not busy on the Saturday we were there however it can get quite popular on some days.
26 July 2021 5:27
Great trails for all levels of hikers. Lots of wildlife. Can spot frogs, fish, turtles, snakes, and all kinds of birds all in one visit. Please be respectful and do not interfere with wildlife, we are their guests.
18 July 2021 3:14
The scenery here is very nice, but the size of the park is much too small for how many visitors come. The four trails are each a little different but tend to run a little short. The pond in the centre could be good for fishing, but when it is busy people just end up on top of each other. Even if you visit during an off-peak time, it would be hard to spend a good portion of the day here.
11 July 2021 8:43
Great place to spend some time. It gets ridiculously busy on weekends and holidays so I avoid those times. Great to see turtles and nesting geese. People fish here but unless they stocked the pond it's really only just sunfish, don't see the point of fishing them up. Most if not all turtles in Ontario are endangered so let them be!

The little hiking trails are extra steep, short and fun. Lots of families come here. Washrooms were closed due to covid.
19 June 2021 18:08
Went fishing here, it was pretty decent all things considered. My friend had an easy time retrieving his rod after dropping it as the waters are shallow. Not to mention he caught more trees than fish. 9/10
16 June 2021 23:34
Followed the Blue trail "Tulip Tree". Was a very relaxing hike, with some steep inclines to provide a bit of a challenge. Geocaching available, for those interested. Large pond for children to fish. Aesthetically pleasing as well!
23 February 2021 13:44
Beautiful place to walk. 4 trails from easy to a more challenging up and down steeper parts of the escarpment. Lots of tree roots along the trails so not great for strollers or wheelchairs although there is a nice area off the main entrance with a trout pound that is level. If you like big old trees this is the place to see them.
31 January 2021 1:40
This place was so beautiful! This is a walking path around the pond, and this path is fantastic for those who have mobility issues. We'll be back!
16 January 2021 19:05
This is a nice place with good little trails. Beware of crazies and loose dogs however. I was charged at by a couple off leash dogs today and assaulted by their entitled hot head trailer trash owners but otherwise it is good. I have been here about 6 times. This was my worst experience here on Christmas.
14 January 2021 7:41
Well maintained old growth Carolinian Forest with ancient Tulip Trees. There are many different trail options clearly marked with length of walks indicated. Beautiful spring fed ponds, with the main one stocked with trout annually.
06 May 2020 5:45
This is such a beautiful place to go for a hike! It's basically right in Fonthill. There's a large pond that is stocked with trout and you are allowed to fish. The trail goes all the way around the pond and there are tertiary trails going off in various directions. As with most conservation area trails there is a cash donation box to help them maintain the trail for all of us to enjoy. Please be generous. We are so lucky to have these trails to enjoy. Today was a crisp sunny day and there were many families hiking. The trail is dog friendly. And we met a lot of friendly dogs!
25 January 2020 11:14
A fantastic place for younger kids to go with family and friends. Trails are reasonable with great variations and a pond full of wildlife. I'd love a couple longer trails but it is very enjoyable overall!
19 January 2020 17:40
Just moved to the area and recently checked this place out! Beautiful area! Very fun hikes for the whole family!
14 January 2020 7:08

13 January 2020 23:20
A secret little spot that offers Fishing & Trails. I am sure you can pull off a picknick there. It's quiet & beautiful. I would recommend this place to anyone. No matter what season it is I am sure you will be happy that you did.
07 January 2020 9:13
Plenty of well kept trails that are easy to follow with varying difficulty. Some are even stroller friendly! The pond is nice with plenty of benches around for seating. Ample parking.
14 December 2019 14:52
I always love coming here for walks especially as i recover woth my knee. The gravel path around the pond at least has scenery and some wildlife and then if you need a longer hike theres trails off the pond walkway to explore. Its usually quiet and a calm place to go for a walk and relax. A gem hidden in the city.
01 December 2019 9:46
I've been going here since I was an infant. This place is a home of nostalgia for any local that grew up and had to learn about wildlife or pioneers. It's a cute accessible trail that isn't too large in the shape of an oval around a frog pond. For those looking for more trail there are forks off of the main oval to adventure through that are also not too difficult but offer more for a longer hike.
21 September 2019 12:35
We love taking the kids there as the the trails are short and sweet. The pond is great for the young ones when it comes to fishing and they live it as it's easy to catch. Great hidden gem in the heartland of Niagara
12 September 2019 4:24
Beautiful area with a small pond that is great for kids to fish in. Benches all around the pond, paved path, and some foot bridges. Area is clean and well maintained. Will come back again, repeatedly.
09 September 2019 23:58
One of the many beautiful park areas in the Niagara Region, and always one of my favourites to visit.

You will always see tons of active wildlife, especially of the aquatic variety. You can take the quick path around the pond area, or go for a longer hike on one of the trails. Plus, accessible parking is available and there's an accessible fishing dock too!

I highly reccomend checking it out for yourself if you love nature.
08 September 2019 19:33
My wife, children, and I along with our dog truly enjoyed this park. We were pleasantly surprised with the trails, trout pond, and scenery.

I would highly recommend going to visit and taking in all of the sights. Rest assured, you will not be disappointed.
26 August 2019 5:28
Such a great place away from the busyness of life. Great walking trails, a nice stocked trout pond to fish in. A great place to bring your kids and let them enjoy nature at its finest.
25 August 2019 4:10
Love the nature and thought it was great too see! I really liked that they have benches for seating a garbage can so you can ride of litter and a fishing dock.
24 August 2019 21:55
Great conservation area. You can sit around the small lake, or go for a hike that varies in difficulty. A good bio-diverse area that is quite relaxing
23 August 2019 5:05
Beautiful area with plenty of trails. Dog-friendly. Plan to go back and try our hands at trout fishing.
31 July 2019 2:28
Always a great hike. We enjoy the path options. From steep haul your a$$ hills to flat paths.its great for everyone. Usually muddy but thats expected at most hiking spots.
09 July 2019 13:06
Great little spot, especially if your looking for short trails. Can easily hike here through a lunch break
28 May 2019 20:37
A great place to hike with the family because none of the trails are long and you feel away from the world. The pond is perfect for walking around for those who can't hike.
19 May 2019 19:16
Great place for a quick hike. Not that much animals around because of how many people there are and how small it is. If you go, dkn't bring your dog if you know it is going to bark. All you hear here is dogs barking.
11 May 2019 4:52
Love coming here to be surrounded by nature. The trails are challenging enough to give you a workout. There’s some small hills
08 May 2019 16:25
Was a great hike last year towards the end of summer. My little ones enjoyed it and it made great memories. Will be back this summer for sure!
07 May 2019 9:43
Absolutely beautiful here. Great place to take your fur baby for a nice long walk. (on leashes please)
You can fish and if quiet, can see some wildlife also. Very peaceful!
18 April 2019 0:35
Lovely walk in the winter. Fishing wasnt to good in summer as water was over grown with algae and a little smelly.
17 April 2019 9:55
I have always loved St. Johns. The trails are well used but still great, and although i was worried when i saw construction around the pond, I think they 100% improved both the look and the practicality with the new wider walkway and boulders that stop the corrosion. Its a great place to bring the family; young and old! Very accessible.
14 April 2019 16:54
Decent area with a pretty artifical lake that attracts geese and turtles. Hiking area is small but looks good.
