Sake Bar Kushi

Way too expensive for my taste and has a very overwhelming atmosphere, but it is very fun and the food is delicious. I recommend going if you like loud social events

Food was delicious! Would recommend the tuna tataki and the chicken karage. The cocktail with ramune and plum wine was amazing as well! The gave us a bunch of free side/apps as well which was a nice touch!

My boyfriend and I look forward to visiting Kushi to celebrate special events or to treat ourselves after tiring weeks. This is the best service I've ever received in a restaurant. The staff are all amazing - they are always friendly, keep an eye out for anytime I need my water filled, and the restaurant even gives out free appetizers depending on how much you spend. We LOVE the food here. The salmon sashimi is fresh, and the portions are cut so thick - definitely worth the price. I also recommend the tuna sashimi, salmon tempura, and takoyaki. This time, they also gave us a new sweet potato fries dish with honey and it was yummy. As a bonus, the washrooms are also super clean, and it's cute that the staff check consistently after it is used, to refold the toilet paper back into a triangle. I also appreciate the mouthwash and extras in the washroom. Looking forward to visiting many more times in the future!

Great place! Love it so much. Food is always fresh and tasty, my top favourite is Salmon Sashimi and Takoyaki. Overall atmosphere is relaxing and cozy, I like how the space is organised there. Staff are very friendly and hospitable, they provide high-end service.

The staff is always extra friendly and welcoming, and they check up on you frequently, making sure that you are having a good time.

Great selection of food and drinks, and the small-portioned tapas-like bite appetizers are easily sharable.

A big plus is that they will give you "service, " meaning you get free dishes on the house!

False advertising and too much trickey. For example, "$2.95 Sapporo special after 9PM" displayed right on the sign out front; once you're inside, you are told you must spend $15 dollars on other food/drinks before the special applies. Atleast the Sapporo I thought was $2.95, but really turned out to be $8.50 was cold.

Great place. They have a 3$ sapporo special and the food is 10/10! Get the grilled eel skewers!

We went on a weekday after work, so it was quiet! Service was very attentive, and they even gave us 2 side dishes off the menu as gratitude. Good was pretty good, sashimi were very fresh, the skewers can be on the grill a little bit longer! Overall a very positive experience, they have a huge selection on sake and drink menu, we ordered one of their sparkling sake, very flavorful!

Love this place! So cute and charming, the service is super friendly, and the food is delicious. Good selection of Sake and Japanese whisky as well.

Unfortunately, the place isn’t the same anymore. Pre-Covid it was awesome! Now the sushi was just rice, no fish. My order came wrong and I didn’t want to bother the server because he was the only one working. The sashimi were good. For 120$ for two the food wasn’t the best. Was initially excited but it soon took a turn for the worse when we waited 40 mins to get a table. We had a reservation, yet nobody tended to the queue of customers waiting in line. We ended up not getting a table and left, similar to many customers ahead of us.

Management at the front entrance was very poor. Hopefully you can enjoy the place on the slower weekdays.

Unfortunately the menu have changed significantly since the last time I came (pre-COVID). ALOT of yakitori/ skewers (no meat skewers/ yakitori). Prices have also gone up but I will not be coming back. I was a frequent customer pre-COVID.

Just came back from the restaurant on a Thursday night.
Went with a group of friends, 6 people and came to $65 per person. With that price, we were not close to full and barely drank. I'm certain there are much better options close-by with more tentative service.

In short
+ opened late on thursday night
- expensive for the portions
- can get better food else where for the price
- appear to be short-staffed leading to bad service
- crowded, long line up.

It seemed like it was the only place open at the time so if you're in desperate need for a place to drink after 9 or 10 pm, it seemed like a viable option and the only reason why i think this place still exist.the food was small portion (scallops were cut in 3rd's, the chicken hearts were cut in half.you get it the point). Would be okay if the price was a fraction but these are prices for full pieces.we paid around $65 per person for very little alcohol and none of us were full. Keep in mind that we had to order some rolls to get full, sushi was not good. Many of the times, we ordered 6 pieces, only 5 pieces came but still charged us for 6 on the bill.

The server looked like he was trying, maybe they were severely short-staffed. We asked for water twice and never came. I had to call them on the phone for us to get the server.

I tried to make a reservation on two separate occasions but both times there were issues. The first time despite coming as per the reservation they would not seat us and I had to wait over 40 minutes for a table. The second time we called 20 minutes before and when we got there they claimed there was no room despite us confirming earlier!

This was an amazing find! We felt like we were at a sake bar in Tokyo. Such a cool fun vibe, totally unexpected.

Amazing ambiance with a very wide range of alcohols/Sake. Food is great while a little pricey.

I tried the toarched spicy salmon don and was not a fan, though my friends seemed to like it. The house rolls, udon, takoyaki were excellent!

Their ordering system is a little weird as you have to create an account on a website. But food came out promptly once it was ordered.

Very friendly service and a great selection of dishes to snack on! There wasn't a single thing that I didn't like eating here. The atmosphere was very inviting and a good indicator of the good things inside.

This is my favourite sushi place in Toronto. The sushi, the service, the $3 Sapporo. Can't go wrong. I'm never disappointed.

Ordered from this restaurant on Uber eats. I cannot describe enough how upset this order made me. Tuna was not fresh (you could smell it), edamame was so soggy, salmon roll was plain (no taste), volcano will (was the only decent maki), spider roll (was monotone). Nothing from this restaurant excited my palate. There was no taste and i won’t be having a memorable food from this restaurant moving forward. Complete Waste of money.

The best sushi place in Toronto. It was very tasty and the service is incredible. The owner and staff are very friendly. Dine in could have been perfect since they have nice interior, can't wait to go back when dining in will be legal.

Tasty sushi and friendly staff, they added a bonus salad appetizer to my order with a kind message. The freshness of the fish was decent but not the highest tier, so 4 stars. The special sake bar roll was delicious and a big serving.

The other day I ordered a poke and karaages, which was on a great deal on Uber and got this warm msg with complimentary food as well! What a lovely place for late night cravings!

서버분들 친절해요! 서비스는 조금 느린편이였지만 바쁠때였어서 이해합니당. 여기 파인트 맥주 저녁마다 할인된 가격으로 마실수 있어서 좋지만 삿포로 맥주에서 쇠맛이 나네요ㅠ 그 잔만 그런가 싶어 한잔 더 주문했었는데 똑같이 쇠맛이 났었어요. 이건 조금 아쉽네요.

Servers were friendly but their service was a bit slow. I do understand that because the store was busy. They have a special deal each night after 9pm or something like that and you can get a pint of Sapporo for half the price (if I remember correctly). Sad thing is, when I ordered my glass of pint, I could taste a bit of metal. I ordered another glass to compare the taste and the metallic taste was still there.

Incredible izakaya spot with an assortment of cooked and raw menu items. Definitely try the deep fried baby octopus with chili mayo (Kodako Karaage)!

Excellent food and drinks. Not cheap but like most things in life you get what you pay for. Chef always give you something on the house. Service is friendly and good. Food is beautifully presented, fresh, and tasty.

Nice little izakaya, good sake selection, kushi was good, the food I had was great. The staff was very friendly, the chef sent over 4 extra snacks on the house and I'm currently writing this with an extremely full stomach. Both of the girls serving were very nice as well. Overall a good experience and I will be coming back even though it's a bit out of the way for me

Loved the atmosphere here, service was very good plus we were also greeted with a complimentary dish (cucumber in a sweet and spicy sauce) they also have a large drink menu to satisfy any thirst you may have.

Most noticeable quality of this place is the speed at which the food comes after ordering. Don't get me wrong, the food was also delicious!

Very cute Japanese restaurant. Great ambience and service. The menu is very diverse, a good place to go if you are looking for wide range of Japanese cuisine. But based on my experience, I’d recommend tapas. Although some skewers didn’t meet my expectation, but majority were good and they provide free item from time to time.

This place is great! The atmosphere, the staff and the food are all excellent quality. The drinks menu is extensive and had some of the tastiest alcohol I've ever had. They even brought us a couple of menu items on the house which was really nice. I definitely recommend this place but it is definitely pricier than your normal late night eats. Overall, I do think it's worth the price for the quality and the experience you're getting.

- Staff are super friendly - you get a warm towel when you enter, they grab your coat, you get VIP treatment when you’re there even if you’re new
- Their Sapporo special is $3 after 9 everyday
- When you come they ask if it’s your first time. If it is, they’ll give you something on the house
- Their sushi is plated very nicely
- I recommend their okonomi, gyoza, yam fries and their pork belly skewer
- This Bar takes reservations and only opens after 5. It’s very modern, not too loud, but maintains the authentic Japanese spirit every izakaya should have
-They have a private room that can seat over 20 people (I believe the number was 60 but I’m not 100% sure)

Neighbourhood gem, how did North Toronto land a genuine Japanese Izakaya!? We primarily went for the cold Sapporo on tap and snacked on small plates, skewers etc. Staff brought many freebies to keep us going. Excellent service. Backroom has take-your-shoes-off sit on the floor setup. Can't wait to try the full menu.

It's not real and authentic Japanese isakya. The ramen broth has no flavor, all the BBQ dishes are overcooked, the sashimi are not even cut properly each pieces are huge. The food is mediocre but extremely expensive and the portion is beyond finger food size compared to a lot of Isakya I've been to in Toronto.

My friend treated me for dinner but after spending over $200 we ended up going to McDonald's for food simply we did not felt like we ated anything from this place. The friend who paid ending up suffering diarrhea.

Even though I didn't spent money that night but seriously such high premium price tag you would expect good food in this case it's totally opposite and that's not fair! I normally don't leave an one star rating even if the restaurant is not good, but AVOID this one I must say if you're looking for a good Japanese Isakya.

We came for the first time and had an amazing experience, not only was the food delicious but the service was some of the friendliest and most attentive I’ve ever had.

They answered all our questions and even gave us some great recommendations too! Be sure to get the variety skewers and stop by after 9 for 3$ beer too!

Did I just go to Japan? I love this place! From the food to the drinks, down to the service. They have a varied selection of rare sakes and whiskeys. 100/100 can't wait to return!

We found this gem on our trip to Canada. The food was amazingly delicious and the staff were friendly. I recommend you stop by if you are in the area and in the mood for great sushi!

Great. Picked up some sushi rolls that were delicious. The staff were all nice they gave me a cup of aloe juice while I waited which was very tasty and when I got home I found complimentary tempura in my bag.

Toro, paying $27 for what they so-called Toro “tuna belly”, lots of thick heavy tendon, texture of the meat is even more worse than a regular tuna piece.it is either not the tuna belly, or they just imported some very low quality “toro” and selling it as High quality pricing.

Skewers surprised me that every single skewers are cold to serve.im not sure if thats their style of skewers or not, but i just dont like the way they put tons of sauces coating the cold meat.

I would only give credits to their servers, but other than that, if you will be looking for a decent sake bar with good quality food, not this place.

1. Customer service is really good, that I give a 10 on it.
2. For a drink only will be recommended but not for dinner.
3. The skewer come out cold with spicy sauce. Which either the spicy sauce is really cold that cool down the skewer or the skewer has been there for a bit of time.
4. The first time in toronto that the basic tuna is better then Toro (as they label) which the toro had a lot of tender and very chewy.
5. The fish is overcooked like some kind of Chinese restaurant.
6. The only good thing is after you tell them the problem they keep giving you freebies.
7. I will highly recommend never go there is you are trying to have dinner but not for a drink

Tried their meter long sashimi, and basically a AYCE quality. If you are not looking for a quality Japanese good, and just drink. This is the place to go for. Beers are cheap, sake price are okay. I think the food quality maximum rated for 3 stars.

This place is packed when I went there on Friday night, at least 1hr wait without reservation.

Only been here three times and it already became my favorite Japanese restaurant. Great food and great service. One of the few places knows how to make the proper rice for the sushi in this price range. Definitely recommended.
