Based on its unassuming exterior, you really are pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the inside of this restaurant is. The staff here are all very friendly and amenable to catering to a large group, and the food is delicious. They also turned down the lights and helped us sing happy birthday for my girlfriend. Would definitely like to come back to try their Sala pad Thai which is served in an egg crepe!
Good food, friendly service, (this one is just me I suppose) very loud & noisy music that we had hard time hearing what the person who sat across the table was saying.
We started with their Mango Salad, because, obviously. We then went for their eggplant stir-fry, the Pad Ma Khou. It tasted pretty strong on its spices (not a complaint), but they seemed to fill the plate up with a lot of tofu as opposed to eggplant. The tofu however was unlike any other. It actually tasted of the dish throughout while in other places, the taste of tofu is quite obvious.
We would surely go here again and experiment with the menu. The staff is friendly and the portions are generous. We also did takeout of their Mango Sticky Rice. The Mango held its own even the next day, which was a great sign.
I LOVE Thai food! I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sala Modern Thai Kitchen with a couple of friends and the food was outstanding! I even met the owner, Chef Mo, who is so warm and inviting. She even invited me into the kitchen to shoot a few pics. Spectacular!
Our evening started with Golden Baskets and Thai Calamari for appetizers. What a great start! Both were delicious!
Our main courses included Chicken Khao Soi, Pad Kee Mao, and Lobster Pad Thai. Each dish was cooked to perfection!
The khao soi was beautifully presented, with the chicken and sauce poured over the noodles at our table. The pad kee mao was a more rustic looking dish, while the lobster presentation was a work of art! I was so tempted to defy my shellfish allergy and dig in!
The desserts were the perfect finish to this excellent meal. We had Banana Ice Cream, MangCo (Mango Sticky Rice with Mango Ice Cream), and BuddyMe (Roti Pancake with Coconut Ice Cream). The ice creams were all made in-house and were exceptional!
What a great meal this was! I highly recommend Sala Modern Thai Kitchen!
Really expensive, for a red curry dish that was 2/3rds sauce and thinly sliced chicken breast. We were charged 4.50 for a cup of jasmine tea! 23.00$ for pad Thai, I know prices have increased but it still hard to justify paying that much for a predominantly noodle and bean sprout dish. Will not return again. The pout on the waitresses face for leaving a 15% tip that she was clearly disappointed with.
Took a group here for my birthday and the owner made it an unforgettable experience. The food and atmosphere were amazing. She even turned out the lights and had the packed restaurant sing 'happy birthday'. Such an incredible gem to have on the Danforth and I can't wait to go back!
Nice cozy place with authentic and Halal thai food. Taste and service were both great and portions are sizeable, especially the soups which I would say is enough for two. Would highly recommend the Tom Yum soup and Khao Soi!
To be completely honest… following this business on instagram & based on their 4* reviews decided to try for the 1st time; service was very good, the food was fine, just okay. Not at a 4+ for me.my curry very way too oily, not a good taste. Try for yourself, we won’t go back.
Came here for a friend’s birthday and it was amazing. The owner is the sweetest most amazing host. The food was delicious. The Masaman curry was one of the best I’ve had in the city
Dined in with 5 others. Very good service, the food excellent. Also, almost every dish has peanuts, so if you have an allergy, notify the server. The space was tight, but the service compensated. Enjoyed the 6 spice/ condiment 'rule'.
One of my top 3 restaurants for Thai food! The owner is very friendly and welcoming. The Thai iced tea is a must. Other favourites include: Thai Calamari, Tom Yum fried rice, Sala PadThai, Squash chips.
The owner and staff I'm genuinely grateful to see you and will always welcome you with the warmest greeting, the food is is delicious and presented like a work of art. Don't miss out. Stop by and try their delicious food and hospitality.
Delicious place to have Thai food. The manager and the people working there are so friendly and helpful. We got a free delicious appetizer with mango and friend eggs prepared by the chef. The food is really delicious and fresh. Paid Street parking is available in front of the restaurent. Better if you call them and reserve. This place is so busy. The chicken and the beef meals are delicious. Better to pay by cash, it saves you some extra money.
The menu has changed and it not as good as it used to be. I dined in. We ordered the crispy noodle - looked nothing like the pic and Was at most like rice crispies without the sugar. Then the Pad See Aww - was soggy, mushy, tasteless. The mango Sal's was good.
We feel so lucky to have this place in the neighbourhood! The food is delicious and the staff are always really sweet. They have several vegan options which I appreciate! My favourite is the green curry with veggies and tofu, but you really can't go wrong. The restaurant itself is very cozy and cute, and it has a really nice vibe.
This is one of my favourite restaurants in the city! The food is always superb, the portions are generous, the atmosphere is homey and welcoming, the dishes are beautifully presented, and the staff are some of the friendliest in the city. The charismatic head chef also circulates and asks you to try out new recipes, tells jokes, and otherwise makes you feel like a VIP. I particularly enjoy the Tom Yum Pad Thai and the Penang Curry, but everything is sensational.
Do yourself a favour and have dinner here! Our food was beyond flavorful and chef Mo started our night off with amazing service and great recommendations!
We had Kao soi, drunken noodles, spring rolls, tom yum soup and the roti for dessert. Going back to try everything else on the menu!
Loved my chicken pad Thai. Seemed authentic. My girlfriends noted that our dishes didn't come in an egg "wrapper" as it showed on the menu, but our neighbours' dishes did. I didn't notice.
What shall I say about Sala Kitchen. Their customer service Is exceptional. They behave friendly. As I'm a Muslim I prefer Halal food and they've got the Halal option. The environment is really calm. Food was amazing. Must go if you're looking for an authentic Thai food. Lovee their environment small but fancy. Btw Coconut Ice cream is a must in dessert.
