Got my haircut from Niki today. It took Niki more than an hour to cut short hair, and she appeared uncertain throughout the process. Despite clear references, she completely missed the mark on the desired style. Throughout the haircut, I couldn't help but wonder if she was a junior hairstylist. Unhappy with the result, I did not want to pay for it. Overall, a disappointing experience, and I won't be returning.
Why the two-star rating?
One for the drink and another for her attitude.

I had a haircut with Niki, my reference was cool short pixie cut, but it turned out to be an old lady look, idk, maybe it's my face, whatever, but the worst part was the hair wash, she absolutely PULL OFF SO MUCH OF MY HAIR! Like hey i know you can't feel my scalp, but when there is hair tangled in your finger, don't just FORCE IT THROUGH! Oh my gosh, it was PAINFUL! Even when she's brushing my hair she kept FORCING it.i had haircut with two other stylists there in the past and never had i experience that.you would think that's the basic stuff for being a senior hair dresser.will not book with her ever again.lol gosh.even when i'm typing i can still feel the numbness on my scalp.

Got my haircut from Ana today, she did such an excellent job. I love the new hairstyle she gave me. Would definitely go back to her again!

I’d rate this salon 1000/10. The price was fairly reasonable. I didn’t know that my haircut includes shampoo, massage, blow dry and styling. Staffs were very accommodating. Karen, my stylist, was knowledgable about the hairstyle and suggested lots of things for my haircare. I would definitely go this salon again.

I had a highlighting appointment with Michael who is really knowledgeable in hair treatments and shared all his expertise on how to keep curly, frizzy hair hydrated. He gave me so many tips on how to support frizzy hair and what kinds of products and treatments to try to keep my hair healthy. Everyone at the salon is so friendly and kind. Karen responds to your emails almost immediately and she is super friendly, honest and understanding. I had some issues with my hair service but Karen was so patient and understanding with my concerns and I really felt heard with what happened. Although it didn’t work out for me, I’d recommend the salon and to check out their website to see who the stylists are and what their specialties are to meet your needs. The hot towel and head massage was a welcoming service after sitting in a head full of hair dye:)

My first visit to the salon and it was terrific. Kind, respectful service. Warm, eclectic decor along with perfect music in the background. And finally, Niki did an excellent job cutting and styling my hair. A wonderful woman who works with a great team. Fully recommended.

I saw the amazing reviews online and I was walking nearby so I decided to check. The owner (Karen) was able to book me for later that day. She was very patient, friendly and knowledgeable. I showed her some pictures and she helped decide the best fit for me. She gave me lots of good tips about hair products, care and color ideas.
Calvin washed my hair and the hot towel detail on your neck was the most relaxing thing ever! It was the first time I saw this type of service in a hair salon, I truly felt like I was in a spa.
The whole salon decor and vibe were truly unique, they even have a coffee shop! Even the smell, not your typical chemical products/burnt hair, it was a very pleasant eucalyptus instead.
I loved everything about it, I really recommend and I'll be back later this year for some balayage for sure!

I had a haircut with Arisa - basic trim with some layers in back and side bang trim requested followed by a blowdry straight.

She was very nice but my hair does not look good. She used a straightening iron (maybe because it's less work than blowdrying straight), so my hair has no volume. It is super smooth but it is not evenly cut and I don't see any layers in the back. I'm going to a different salon on Monday to see if I can get it fixed.

People working here are so nice! If you're looking for gentle care treatment, this salon is the place. Nikki did a root perm for me and it turned out great! My hair now has natural volume look without the rough damaged texture (I've had root perm several times and the damaged dry texture was often the result). My hair feels healthy and I really like that this salon has that gentle touch to hair and scalp care. Also bonus note, salon is clean, organized and well maintained!

Karen is very patient, accurate and kind. She listens to what you like and apply that.
The whole salon staff are amazing, kind and amazing.

Consistently great cuts and color by Karen. She specializes in short hair. Great vibes and also full cafe for drinks during your appointment!

I absolutely love coming here because the style and atmosphere is super lovely, but more than anything the cut that I get every time has been superb. Especially my latest cut from Kei. She really did something amazing with my hair. The only place I will be going from now on.

Good service and atmosphere but the hairstylist doesn’t know how to cut men’s hair… She told me she won’t touch the top but ended up cutting 2 inches off (I told her I usually get a fade comb over, and asked for a haircut along those lines). I already had short hair to start with so it pretty much looks like a buzz cut. All my friends and family agree it looks really bad…

The owner of this salon seems to really care about her business it's very apparent. Keep up the good work

Had a good experience there Chen is a great stylist of care and detail，who is also easy to communicate with.environment overall is good as well all the settings and decorations made me feel comfortable，with that being said the room for improvement still exist which lies in the equipment sector，it would be better to have more light towards the seats

Saya is my go-to hair stylist and I have been with her since 2018. She is super nice and kind. She takes time to listen to the customer’s needs and tries her best to make me happy every single time.

Nikki was great and was able to squeeze me in with her busy schedule. I had a single color (no bleach), she takes her time to do my hair and the head massage was so relaxing! Everyone were professional (e.g. No chatting among staff/ place is clean). I'm happy with my hair and their service.

I had a haircut at Salon de Elephant yesterday as a first time client and got rid of 2 years worth of hair growth. Saya did an amazing job with the cut. She was very professional and polite. The length was perfectly even, and I'm super happy with the result. Included in the service was a shampoo and blow dry, as well as a relaxing head massage. I always enjoy my visits to Salon de Elephant. Clean, friendly, and good tunes too! This time, I had a hair cut and scalp treatment from Kei. She was attentive, professional, and gave me exactly the cut I wanted. The scalp treatment was relaxing. I’ve had nice cuts by Karen before too. Highly recommend!

Booked them to do my and my maid of honor’s hair for my wedding. Nobody showed up. Messaged them to find out where they were. Told us “they tried to contact us but no one responded so they thought we didn’t want the service”. I never received any message whatsoever from them. Obviously my email worked because they were able to tell me that they “tried to contact me”- so where did the other message go? Very unprofessional. If you don’t get a response, you can’t just assume that they don’t want the service. As the service provider, you should always double-check. Thankfully, we were able to contact another salon last minute to help us. Will not recommend this place to others as they are obviously not reliable.

Kei did my hair recently and I love it! She was so sweet, friendly and professional. I was kind of embarrassed because I tried cutting my own hair and it looked really terrible, but she didn’t make me feel silly and fixed it for me. She is the best! I’ve come here a few times with different stylists and they are all very talented! Thank you:)

I've tried many many places in the gta, Salon de Elephant is by far the best salon out there. Kei is amazing, her attention to detail is unmatched.

I got a haircut from Arisa and she was wonderful! Listened to what I wanted and gave me a great cut:) They also have excellent hair products for sale here. Overall great atmosphere and experience.

Kei was my stylist and she did an incredible job! As soon as I walked in she made me feel comfortable and before starting the hair cut she asked how I took care of it so that she could style it to make it easier for me.

The hair cut included a shampoo (and she gave a scalp massage!). She also styled it using curl cream and a diffuser which no other hair salon has done for me they usually just blow-dry it and that makes my hair type more frizzy. She listened to what I needed and it was honestly the best hair cut I've ever gotten. It was a fantastic value for the price. Definitely recommend and I will be back for sure!

I have had the worsttttt hair salon experiences but i didn't leave crying after my experience here. It is a calming and relaxing environment managed by professionals. I loved it here and the coffee was a bonus.:)

I came here for a hair cut today with Kei, she was very friendly, professional and cut my hair according to the 2 examples I showed her. I got a haircut here last week from Arisa. The place is pretty nice and they were following covid protocols. Arisa was really nice, listened to what I was looking for. I got a haircut after more than a year and it looks pretty amazing! She took her time with it. For a wash, cut and blow dry, the price point is decent compared to other places in the area. Definitely recommend and will be returning.

This is the best for hair styling in north York, been going here for almost two years. Saya and Kei are amazing stylists. The customer service is excellent at this place!

Why did I not discover this salon earlier? ! My stylist was Kei and she was fantastic. She asked how I take care of my hair and that was a consideration for my cut. Shampooing and conditioning were experiences in and of themselves. It was long and relaxing because a scalp massage was included! My cut was done with care. I enjoyed the entire visit from start to finish.

I'm so glad I found this neat Salon. Arisa was very sweet, gentle and professional. She did a great job with what I had in mind. All staff were very nice and attentive. Absolutely enjoyed my visit and will 1000% come back

I had a great experience getting my hair cut by Arisa at Salon de Elephant. She speedily dispatched my long COVID mop and made me feel fresh and new. My hair is thick and wavy so getting a cut that suits my hair type can be a challenge, but I was completely happy with this cut and I will definitely be coming back.

This salon provides amazing service. It had been over a year since my last cut and Karen gave me the change I needed! Very personable and professional! I am so happy they survived the 8 month closure!

Michael was attentive and courteous as my hairstylist. My hair was cut from shoulder to chin length and Michael made sure there were no awkward hanging strands of hair that can sometimes surface when cutting short hairstyles. Thank you for your excellent service and creating a safe environment for clients in this time.

I loved how everyone was very friendly towards me and I got exactly what I needed. It was an amazing experience for $50. Although it may seem pricy, it’s worth while after your haircut.

They didn't cut my hair evenly and I called numerous times to have it fixed, no one had the curtesy to call me back and accommodate a two second appointment to cut a couple of strands to make everything blend. I would not recommend this salon to anyone. Very unprofessional.

Salon de elephant is definitely where you’d want to go for your hair services. Karen and Calvin really knows how to take care of their customers and their team, all the stylists and supports are friendly and full of smiles every time I visit. I feel happy going to my appointment and leave even happier:) They take the time to understand what you need and ensures that you have the most comfortable experience every time. They also support local musicians on Sundays, and offer a space for young musicians to have a space to provide live music for 3 hours. They have also been trained to offer tasty coffee! High recommend it:)

Apart from the excellent and professional service and the fact that they always give you the hair you want, it's such a great experience to just be there.the atmosphere is high-class, but at the same time so down to earth and homely.it's full of cute things so as you look around you're interested by so many things. They also serve state of the art coffee and hot beverages that make everything even better. I love it there and the lockdown has made it so hard to not think about them like a long-distance love =) <3

Not until I got a bad cut at my local mall did I realize how good these guys are. I want to come back and get my haircut here again. Last had my haircut here quite a few months ago here and my cut grew out well. Please hope they open up soon.

One of the best salons in the city. The staff is super friendly and make sure your experience is well looked after. I always look forward to my haircuts every month as its also a place for me to escape the daily grind. The hair wash, scalp treatment and conversations are delightful and relaxing. 10/10 would recommend the scalp treatment.

I have been struggling with hair stylists that are not passionate with their art for many, many years. Got the best haircut I’ve ever had with Niki. As a first time client, my hair was long and thin and asked them to trim it for me. They did an excellent job layering my long hair and also gave me a cute bang. My second visit, I've decided to donate my hair to sick kids children, Niki did a fabulous bob haircut for thin hair. I always struggle between what I want and what I need. Niki finds really good balance and give the best advice every time! Spends time with her clients and will make take time making adjustments. No rush, great style, trust her with your head!

I've had Kei cut my hair twice now, and it's been such a pleasure both times! She's super sweet and comprehensive with her service. She takes the time to understand what I want and checks in frequently to make sure I like it. The place is also very clean, professional, and aesthetic! I highly recommend if you're looking for a place to cut your hair)

I've heard good things about the salon so I decided to try it out. I booked an appointment with Michael Wong and the service was great. He did a great job with my hair and took his time. He would always ask me if I'm doing okay every now and then and tell me which products he would put in my hair. As everyone mentioned, the hot hand towels were a great addition.

If you are a plant person, you will appreciate this salon. Plants everywhere, I loved it.

Haven't cut my hair in 3 years and finally did because it was crazy long. I went here as a recommendation from my friends that have gotten their haircuts here and they loved it. I too loved it. I didn't book ahead of time, I just walked in and the staff made me feel so welcomed-very hospitable people. They also offered me a drink menu if I wanted anything to drink as I got my hair cut. Within the time I got to the salon and when I got the drink menu, they were able to get me a stylist. Kanae was my stylist and she cut my hair exactly how I wanted it I showed her a picture and she recreated it on my head. Amazing. I also loved the hair washing-massage they give. Will definitely go back!

He booked an appointment with Sudien for Wedensday at noon and was literally in front of the storefront at his scheduled time when he received an email saying that his appointment was rescheduled for Friday evening @ 7PM. This is absolutely ridiculous. It would be slightly more understandable if they had called him (at the very least) an hour in advance to offer an explanation for the last-minute cancellation but they didn't even give him the courtesy. As someone who works in the service industry himself, he understands that stuff happens but to not even have the courtesy to give a quick call, text, or email is clearly evident that this salon does not value their customers.
I can't even fathom how someone who is supposed to be a Top Stylist and has been working in the industry for over 6 years can be so unprofessional.

Karen has a great attention to detail and really puts in the effort to listening and understanding the style I requested. She addressed my concerns, provided advice on maintenance, and most importantly - gave me the haircut exactly as I wanted. In short, Karen is awesome and I trust her unconditionally with my hair:)

Karen and her team at Salon de elephant was amazing for my wedding! My husband got his hair cut here (and learned some styling tips) and my bridal party and I got our hair styled here. I also had my hair dyed "balayage" for the first time. Karen was very detail oriented and listened to our needs, I completely trust her and her team in their technical skills - plus Karen is a great conversationalist.

Nice atmosphere and service, but have to say I am not satisfied with the haircut itself. The hair stylist who did mine seemed not skilled enough to figure out what needs to be done with my hair. Even though I went there two days later for a makeup trimming after I found that on the inside a lot of hair is still longer than that on the outside, she didn’t seem to manage it properly. I know she’s tried her best, but honestly I won’t go next time. ️

A real gem in our neighbourhood. Very professional, courteous and polite and the best massages when getting your hair washed. Always happy with my cut from Calvin!

Just had a haircut to a long pixie with Michael. It is hands down the best one I had in years. The salon itself is very clean, every one makes you feel welcome. Will be back always.
