My favorite place to dine - a white linen service & food quality at a very affordable price! & the best part is that it's just around the corner from where I live
The head waiter was hopping! Did a great job of connecting with each table and service was really good. Food (Chicken Parmesan and Lava Cake) was very tasty.
I and my brother just dined here last night. Impeccable service, food and atmosphere. If I could give these guys 10 stars I would. An absolute gem of a restaurant. Best in the village if not the whole damn city. And the prices are still pretty reasonable for the amount of food and service you get. If you haven't visited what the hell are you waiting for?
Nice place a good food. I like atmosphere inside as it is calm compared to busy streets outside. Service was good and quick. I had a grilled chicken sandwich with a house salad.
Just tried the most terrible mushroom risotto and “paella” of my life. No taste at all, cheap ingredients and they have no idea what a risotto or a paella should taste like. Never ordering from this place again
Very good and traditional Italian food with friendly staff and a wide array of menu items to choose from. Located on Church street with lots of shopping around. The food is amazing and the staff attentive. I suggest you give this place a try and you will not be dissatisfied.
Amazing service and great price. Their pre-fixed menu prices for $38 per person is a steal. Will be coming back to try more. Also the service is great and suck friendly staff.
You’re missing out if you haven’t hit up Sambucas for some delicious Italian food! The food here is so comforting and delicious. They grate fresh parmesan and ground fresh pepper to your liking, a nice touch! A nice cozy and welcoming environment. The staff is incredibly friendly and inclusive. I love that it is conveniently located in the heart of Church-Wellesley Village, so it’s perfect to come here with friends or family and enjoy a homey Italian meal together.
Overall the service and food were exceptional. The staff was very polite and patient with a group the food is full of flavor and the general Vibe of the place was very comfortable
I knew I was going to give Sambucas the highest rating from almost the moment we walked in and the wild mushroom soup with truffle oil clinched it! Mike met us at the door and made us feel very welcome, made excellent suggestions, and we had a wonderful meal. I highly recommend going to Sambucas if you want a great meal in a great atmosphere. Oh and $38 for the prix fixe 3 course meal was paid for with the soup!
The place was packed. I had no reservation. MIKE gave a table and he served me. My pasta with shrimp in a tomato sauce was out of this world. Mostly I have to say, I was impressed with the high level of service and promptness I received from MIKE. It was REALLY a fantastic experience! Congratulations Sambuca’s. I will be back for sure
Was in Toronto with a friend. Haven’t been in the city for a number of years & frankly found it a bit overwhelming. Our experience at Sambucca’s could not have been better. Our server couldn’t have been nicer. He was friendly & attentive to a couple of senior ladies who were obviously in need of a break. I only wish I had got his name. The food was excellent & the portions were certainly generous. More than We could eat in one sitting. Don’t know when we’ll be making the trek back to Toronto but will certainly stop back here when we do.
Love the place, very cozy and server Richard is just a beautiful soul, gave us beautiful experience. Love the food, definitely going back and strongly recommend them.
Just had lunch with my parents here and everything was terrific. Kumar our server was superhuman. Made us feel welcome whilst taking care of everyone around us. We'll be back again soon!
A great place to check out. The food is really delicious. Everything we had: the mussels, risotto, linguine, and free range chicken were all tasty and portions were perfect. The service was very friendly too. My family and I will definitely be coming back and trying new items on the menu.
Great service, great ambience and GREAT FOOD! This place is amazing. I went there last weekend with my hubby, daughter and sister in law. We had an amazing time. They have the most friendly staff:) Absolutely loved the food. The steak and pasta are to die for. The chocolate lava cake was so good. Loved the tiramissu! Definitely going back!
Loved this place. I had the chicken Parm and it was amazingly delicious best food ever. No wonder this playlist was busy with people. But all in all great service ️
Got eggs florentine x2. In both, the eggs were not poached properly and yolks were not at all runny. Potatoes were undercooked and under seasoned. The hollandaise sauce was great, that's the only thing I liked about it. Disappointing.
We've ordered takeout from Sambucas twice, and both times our order was wrong. The person taking the order rushes you off the phone and doesn't double check. It's disappointing to get home and realize you didn't get want you ordered. We're not going to bother ordering from here again.
Ordered 3 meals through Skip the Dishes. The food was absolutely fantastic. Portion sizes were extremely generous and the food was piping hot when delivered. This will be our go to when visiting downtown TO
Our server was very nice and was wearing a mask. Food was ok and coffee was absolutely terrible but server was so nice and price was so decent that it was ok.
A relatively quaint Italian restaurant set in the Church and Wellesley Village area. We went on a busy Saturday night. The customer service was pretty good. We waited only about three minutes to be seated and didn’t need a reservation. The waiter had a basic knowledge of the menu but wasn’t confident about making recommendations. We did a prix fix menu ($33). The menu had many good options to choose from, most at a very reasonable prices (eg 12oz T-bone steak for $23 - you can’t buy and make it for that price at home). I had the cream of mushroom soup, chicken Parmesan and chocolate lava cake. My buddy had the mussels, chicken Parmesan, and the tiramisu. The apps were very good; main meal was average; the lava cake was great but the tiramisu was underwhelming. The serving size was very generous. The place was a little crowded, clean, not very unique aesthetically, but the friendly staff were very good. Overall a good experience with very fair prices for the quality and quantity of food.
A staple in our restaurant dining, the service is always good as well as the food (large portions). Mussels and Caesar salad are good starters and the pizzas are perfect.
We went there for winterlicious on a sunday night with a party of 6 people. The service was a bit slow because there were only 2 waiters on that night but they did their best to attend to everyone. Mind you the restaurant was full. So kudos to the service there. Food portion was very generous. It was tasty but i was a bit dissapointed with some things.
Pros: -The cook on the meats were on point. We had the rack of lamb and the steak and lobster. -Taste was good for everything we had. I especially like the sauce with the rack of lamb.
Cons: -Out of 3 plate of mussels, 2 were slightly undercook. A lot of mussels (we counted at least 6 in one plate) were not opened, which show that they were not well cook. -The steak we had were a bit fatty. There were a lot of fatty pieces here and there. - The lobster was underwhelming. Taste like frozen lobster that was overcooked and it was also blend in taste. - We had 2 lava cake and both of them were overcook. The middle was not oozing chocolate: (which is the whole point of a lava cake.
The price $33 was reasonable for the variety of selection you get to choose from the menu, Overall, I would still recommend this place, for the taste is good and the portion are huge even if some things were lacking.
This is some of the most reasonably priced Italian given the amazing quality of the food. I always have the white wine mussels. If you like mussels, it’s a definite try! I wasn’t able to get a picture of them because the table literally attacked them!
The wine selection is great with some features not available at the LCBO which draws my friends in.we haven’t really had a bad dinner here, listen to your server’s suggestions.they know what they’re talking about
I came here for Winterlicous in a Wednesday night. The place was busy, and I read recent reviews. I have to say I was underwhelmed by my meal. I ordered the mussels for the first course, it was served warm and was undercooked. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t good. I ordered the steak and lobster for the main course. Steak was ok, maybe 6.5 out of 10, but the lobster was completely dry, no butter sauce over it, just a dry piece of lobster tail. I was quite disappointed. The dessert was good however, I got the chocolate cheesecake. That was my order, my friend got the the lamb shank and they enjoyed their meal. And someone else got the chicken which they said was good, I did try a bite and it was definitely better than my order. Portions sizes were good, but overall food was ok. Service wasn’t great but wasn’t super terrible either, they were quite busy, but that’s no excuse for slow service, but more managements issue for not staffing properly. It’s 3.5 stars but I can’t give a half and it’s a round down type of situation.
Winterlicious.excellent variety, there were seven of us and everyone was very happy with their choices.exceptional value for money, large portion sizes and good quality ingredients. Very happy, will return for sure! Their regular menu looks very good and very well priced too. The mussels, rack of lamb and apple tart was a great choice. Delicious!
Nice relaxing and welcoming environment. Friendly staff and really good food. Had the truffle risotto unbelievable well prepared and full of flavor. Well worth the money.
Food reliable, drinks good, quiet enough to catch up with friends. Prix-fixe includes mussels as an available starter. If you want dinner with friends and dont want to have to scream at them and say 'what', this place is very good. Bonus: main floor washrooms.
I came here with a friend. She was starving and ordered the summerlicious menu. I didn't want to eat as much so I was happy that they had their regular menu as well. This place was super busy, so we figured it was a good spot.
The service was friendly and informative. He told us that the portions were pretty big, and he was right. I ordered the caprese salad. It was delicious and not over dressed (which I find often happens).
My friend got the mussels to start. I'm not a fan, so I didn't try them but she said they were really good. Next she had the trout. I did have a piece of that, which was delicious with the mango salsa. For dessert she let me split her pineapple upside cake with her. The waiter recommended it and it did not disappoint. It came out warm, was not too sweet and just melted in your mouth.
We met with friends at this spot for a meeting. This spot was recommended to us by a friend. Well, it was a winning.we were warmly welcomed by the crew and we felt excellent. The food was just great. We loved this restaurant very much and we shall absolutely come back again. Warmly recommended.
Extensive menu offerings, convenient location and friendly waiters, make this village stalwart a good option if you are in the area.
The establishment’s decor is looking very dated, although all areas of the restaurant look to have been well maintained. Tablecloths and napkins would have elevated the experience significantly.
Went here after my wedding about a month ago, they were able to accomadate all of us on such short notice. The food and drink was great quality, fast, and very inexpensive. Highly recommend!
