None of us are happy when our car breaks down. In fact we are usually angry, displeased and experience all kinds of other negative emotions. How fabulous it was then to have my mood turned around upon entering Sampson Transmission and asking some questions of Roger. It was a breath of fresh air to know he had listened, understood and was willing to explore multiple avenues to find a solution that worked for my car's issues and just as importantly a solution that worked for my personal circumstances.

Highly recommend Sampson for auto repairs and transmission I am a retired automotive service technician truck and Coach technician but not physically able to do my own repairs anymore I made an appointment last week to bring it in and when I brought it in Roger made me feel very comfortable leaving it with him willing to go the extra mile for a customer great price the repairs were done very fast and efficiently thank you Roger and staff I'll be back

Sorry for the late review as it has been a couple of weeks since we were there but here is our honest review. We had scheduled an appointment to have our rear suspension replaced. When Roger called it seemed way too low considering what we had asked them to do. After discussing some details we realized that they only performed half of what we had asked for. By this time it was 4: 30 and they were closing real soon. My wife and I were frustrated of course but we had to get there in time to settle up and pick up our vehicle so we could go camping the next day. As soon as we got in our car Roger called to say give them another half an hour as they had the parts coming and they would be installed by the time we arrived. Sure enough it was done when we got there and he not only apologized but gave us a very reasonable invoice. His mechanic had agreed to stay after hours to finish the job. THAT IS DEDICATION! Coming from someone who works in the service industry I can tell you that we all make mistakes and it is how we handle those mistakes that makes all the difference. THANK YOU ROGER AND SAMPSON TRANSMISSION! I can honestly say that I would recommend these guys 100%. They will have your back.

These guys were great to me, had what I believed to be a driveline bounce at certain speeds. I explained to them the situation and they instantly offered to go for a test drive, during the test drive the tech was very proffesonal explaining everything that was going on and pinpointed the issue to be tire related. They sent me on my way in the right direction to go after the brand new tires That were installed. They were great explaining everything, very professional and offered this diagnostic free of charge. Would recommend to anyone for driveline or any vehicle issues. If I have any further issues with my vehicles I will return for more great service.

Ever since moving close by in 2019, I have been bringing in my Jeep to their shop whenever service is needed. They are always cordial, professional, and take the time to explain the diagnosis and how to fix those problems. They always inform you what is required to get the vehicle moving vs what is optional and not needed right away. I'm so glad to have them around the corner!

Roger, Kevin and the team at Sampson Transmission really go 'that much' extra. I recently had brake and steering work performed by these guys, the work was performed in a few hours and Roger contacted my warranty company several times that day, at my request, so that applicable costs were charged to the warranty company. Great job and saved me dollars. Thanks guys.

It was okay, I didn't know what to expect from them as I had never been there before, they took my car for a quick spin then told me there were four problems but when the guy was explaining them to me I had zero clue what he was talking about, I asked him to write down the four problems so I could take it home with me and research everything myself, I barely know what a transmission does and I know mine needs work. I don't see myself returning to the Upper James location. The guy wrote down a bunch of number codes, what am I supposed to do with that?

I have been going there since they opened. I have never had any bad experience with them or the work performed on my vehicles. Honest about what is needed and explained in detail. Very friendly. I have and still recommend them to friends and family.

I have been dealing with Sampson Transmission for years. They were recommended for a transmission issue on an older Caravan. I was expecting to hear that I’d need a rebuild, but Kevin properly identified that it was only a bad throttle sensor. That was over 8 years ago, but that impression of knowledge and integrity made me a loyal customer. I own two newer vehicles with warranty. I still prefer to use Roger, Kevin and their team for all maintenance needs.

Don't get deceived by "positive bias" reviews from a portion of their customers. As with any other service shops, when you ask for a specific job to get done - they make every effort to sell you services that are not needed or requested. This shop is no exception. I voted one star here to outbalance the bias. This is to remind future customers that you have to be vigilant of the recommended types of services.

I walked away the moment I realized that I am being treated like a fool at this shop.

Wow! Very friendly and professional service. They took the time to "test drive" my car to properly diagnose the problem. Roger called me to explain that it wasn't my clutch.it was my gear box. He went above and beyond to find me a " new to me" part before checking with me and ordering it! This was my first time here, but it won't be my last! My car is running beautifully and the gears are shifting very smoothly! Thanks guys!

Roger and Kevin frequently go out of their way to be thorough and helpful. I always find they take the time to explain any mechanical issues and discuss various solutions.

I drive from Oakville to have my car taken care of at Sampson because they've demonstrated an phenomenal standard of work and customer service.

I have a Honda Odyssey and it had a transmission problem. I went to 4 places and they said I had to change the transmission and it cost me about $3000.00. Then I went to (Sampson Transmission) the name of Kevin and Roger they respect the costumers. They found out what the problem was and it cost me $558.27 and I am so happy everyone has a problem go to Sampson Transmission

To say small town service in the big city would be not intirely wrong. They did a masterful job on my Pontiac Torrent that only a big city experience with multiple cars can provide. The feeling was very personable and I felt like I've known them for years. Like only a small town company can provide. I will recommended them to anyone because of there honesty and excellent customer service.

I've been coming to see Roger and Kevin for all my automotive needs for years. They are knowledgeable, understanding folks that treat their customers with respect. Recently I had a catastrophic engine failure in my Ford and they helped me explore every option, set by step, so that I could make an informed decision based on trust-able reports from Kevin. Unlike the Ford dealer where I have my car serviced, they will tell you if there is a leak, or there is an issue that could soon be a major problem. Sometimes it may come across as "up selling" but I have trust in the Samson's ability and integrity. I recommend them to everyone who asks, and that does not come lightly from me as they are the only ones.

Worst experience ever. They failed to fix the problem, failed to supply a replacement transmission of the same or better quality, failed to return the parts they replaced, failed to fix the problem in timely manner, it took two and a half weeks just to have the car back with noisy and acting transmission. It has hard shifting now, something I never had before. Went to the shop for a flashing gear shifter D light, with no mechanical issues at all. It is a Honda vehicle and has only 190 000 km on it. Ended up with a used transmission replacement, unknown donor vehicle and miealage, for a lot of money and it's not even working as it should. Warranty is next to nothing, six months parts only and less than what everyone else is offering. Definitely will not recommend this place to anyone.

A smaller shop with a dedicated staff to solve your problems correctly, the first time. Very professional approach to troubleshooting problems and permanently fixing them. Not into unnecessary repairs.
Kevin is a factory trained technician that lets nothing get by him. Sorted out a problem with my F-350 transmission that eluded the dealer for months, even after tearing it down completely. Been a very happy customer for over 10 years. Highly recommend.

Low tire sign on my dash, stopped in at Sampson transmission, they filled the tire that was low. At NO CHARGE. I am from out of town, I was SO thankful for the wonderful service.
