I am a regular. Always great service, fabulous food and a magical atmosphere. Love this place.

Sassafraz hosted our wedding and it was absolutely stunning! Dennette was a delight to work with, a true professional!
The atmosphere brought so much to our special day and the service from every employee we dealt with was impeccable.
We cannot recommend Sassafraz enough for couples looking for an intimate restaurant wedding venue. At the very least, stop by for dinner and try a few dishes, walk through the dining area and see for yourself. The live wall speaks a thousand words. Thank you Sassafraz for the perfect day!

We were there last night on the patio celebrating a special occasion. Unfortunately others on the patio ruined it for us. Obviously they had way too much to drink and were yelling at the top of their lungs. It became louder and louder. Very obnoxious behaviour. Couldn’t wait to finish our meal and leave. I wish the waiter/ management would have told them to calm down as it spoiled the mood for the rest of us on the patio.

The ambiance is nice and the open windows in the summer are refreshing. The service was great, the server very attentive. The food on the other hand needs improvement. My salmon was bland, had to add so much lemon juice and salt, pepper to fix it. My husband's braised lamb was too dry, he didn't finish it. We had higher expectation from this place. We went elsewhere for dessert.

Social business partner dinner are sometimes challenging to schedule and picking a place takes a lot of consideration, Sassafraz however has a cozy atmosphere, in a great location, also a great menu and wine list, accessible through the subway, close by parking structures, and near high end designer stores, near perfect choice I think. And the food is great, the oysters are fresh and tastes great. The service is excellent, prompt and accommodating. Try the tuna salad if being health conscious.

Went for dinner during summerlicious. Food wasn’t amazing and the service was a bit slow. But the sea bass was really good and the restaurant is nice though

We celebrated a christening and it was a comfortable, private space and great, personalized service. The party has guests who couldn't attend and they let us send food home to them, which was very much appreciated.

We used Sassafraz for our wedding and it was wonderful. Dennette and her whole team are experts! We enjoyed every moment from touring the venue, to our tasting, the EXCELLENT vendor list, and the fantastic staff. If you’re looking for a wedding with great food, great drinks, and a fantastic space here it is!

I wish I could have given 6 stars for impeccable and amazing service. The staff is attentive and particular in ensuring your experience is divine.
No detail is overlooked.
My daughter was struggling with the large romaine leaves in her salad and they insisted on remaking one entirely chopped, without asking.
The ambience is signature Yorkville and will not disappoint.
A definite must when in the district.

We had our wedding dinner at Sassafraz and had an amazing time! We reserved the Bellair private dining room and it was set up beautifully when we arrived. Special thanks to Dennette who worked with us to plan all of the details and answer all of our questions along the way! Food was great and the service was outstanding! I would recommend Sassafraz to anyone looking for an elegant dining experience or just a fun night out!

We had our wedding ceremony and reception at Sassafraz and everything was great! The food was delicious and the service was top notch. A huge thank you to Dennette for all of her hard work and effort from the beginning until the very end. She really is excellent at what she does. She promptly answered all of our questions, took our requests into consideration, and made sure our wedding was a success. Thank you!

Unprofessional. Don’t bother making reservations for special family events here as they will cancel last minute the second someone else books more. I had booked a reservation here a week in advance in the dining room for my moms birthday, just for them call me the morning of my reservation and inform me that it was booked for a private event. We had made plans to go to the jazz festival and end with a nice dinner, but since it was Canada Day and many restaurants in the area were booked, we had to cancel. I had expressed my disappointment of this situation and was told a service manager would contact me. It has been several days and no one has reached out to me despite the front staff telling me that they have left a “note for their manager” twice. I am disappointed that I was not given reasonable notice to alter my family’s celebratory plans, and there has been no attempt to fix the situation from Sassafraz’ management team.

Good place for business lunch, I like the natural light and the green wall. Food is above average but not very exciting for a high end restaurant.

Service and atmosphere were great. The decor and attention to detail inside makes the experience really nice. I think the food menu needs more variety especially since my partner has dietary restrictions. I look forward to coming back when theres maybe a few more added dishes to the menu.

We had a corporate event in their private room on the second floor and the ambience, service and food were impeccable. Best beef tenderloin I ever ate. Special shout ot to Stephan, our host and both of our dedicated servers.

We went there for my friends engagement brunch. Service was about 5/10. The food was basic and lacking 3/10. Not worth another visit.

Really disappointed with the food. All of our meals were not seasoned. I was looking forward to it due to the high ratings but was genuinely shocked with the quality. At least it has a pretty atmosphere; however, I will not be returning.

Food and drinks:
Appetizers- octopus was chewy and rubbery and overall bland. Even the purée it came with was bland and added no flavour. The duck pate was ok.
Mains- The chicken supreme was dry, to be honest costco chicken is probably more juicy and flavourful than this. Which is just shocking. My friends Bass dish was ok but nothing special, the pork tenderloin was also ok, nothing special. Overall, all bland no seasoning at all.

Drinks - all our cocktails were super watered down tasted like water.

Service:
Each time the apps, main and desserts came they were all delivered to the wrong person and we had to switch amongst ourselves. You would think that after the first time they would have realized and adjusted especially since we pointed it out But nope each time it came they got the placements wrong. It is very disappointing and unprofessional. Water was also spilled numerous times during the meal on our table when refilling. There was a fly during our meal that was flying around our table and the one next to us.

Overall very disappointed, have had better food and service at chain restaurants. Expected more

Fine dining is not synonymous to comfort food, but here food truly satisfies, taste and portions are beyond comforting.

Interior was beautiful and service was good. The beef tartare was the best I've ever had. The salmon entrée and I enjoyed the crispy skin but felt there could have been more seasoning. I was disappointed with the pistachio ice cream because it was very grainy. The server mentioned the ice creams were not made in house so I would not recommend it.

I must admit I expected more but maybe I shouldn’t have from a patio restaurant in the middle of the tourist area in Toronto. The service was very friendly if a little sporadic. The Ontario beef tartare was bland and could have used some spices or something. The Malpeque oysters were good, if small, but the sauces that came with them were really ordinary. The martini was fine but not particularly cold.
All in all, not a bad restaurant by any means but there are probably better ones for the meal I had.

Came for a last minute business dinner. Was greeted and seat by lovely gentleman Fasal. He ended up serving us. What a professional! We got great cordial and food recommendations! Will definitely be back to try more and see Fasal

Went here for the first time recently with my mother. Loved the ambience. Appropriate level of service and great food.

Wasnt too impressed when we sat down to see that the preset glasses looked unclean and were covered in smudges but, we ordered coffee and luckily didnt need to use them. Our server wasn't rude but had very few words to say. Didn't say anything when he took down our order, no thank you for coming after we paid and tipped, just gave us the receipt and dipped. It was $6 for a cappuccino from a bean-to-cup machine (that wasn't listed on the menu so we had no idea the price until the bill came) and the food was just alright. A truly forgetful meal but we know we wouldn't go back to dine here again.

Even if the place is amazingly located, they toke more than 30 minutos to serve our table just with the drinks and the orange juice. Good toke more than 1 hour to be ready. Next time if any of you wanna come here be sure you do it earlier.

Enjoyed amazing birthday dinner with my family last week. We tried oysters for the first time! Dewan was awsome and catered all our needs in a polite manner

One of these spots that looks fancy, is priced fancy and delivers an average experience at best. We waited for our plates (all were salads) for what felt like forever while other tables that ordered after us received their food in no time. Two of the salads were adequate the caesar salad however was a travesty. The only way to put less effort into it would be to not even clean the leaves. It was not redeemed by the overcooked salmon.
If anything the staff was friendly.
Overall I do not recommend it.
