Gotta be the worst emergency service department in all of Canada. The front desk nurses are extremely unprofessional and don't even have 1% of customer service skills. If you go to the emergency department, be ready to wait for 10+ hours even if the place if practically empty. Third world countries treats their patients better than this place.

It was a wonderful experience at centenary hospital. Everyone is very kind and experienced there. There is no sense of impatience or rudeness even when I had multiple questions and requests. 10/10

Given what I observed from other patients at the hospital, I can understand why others may have a different experience. Some patients are very bad at listening and taking instructions. Which is obviously annoying for any medical professional when you have patients lined up. Some do the opposite of what they are told. Centenary hospital workers talk to each other like family. The atmosphere is very pleasant.

I wasn’t expecting a pleasant experience this morning. Nobody wants to go to the hospital for tests.
On arrival the maintenance man sweeping out front said good morning. The receptionist at check-in was smiling. I was lost and a friendly security guard found the department for me. The nurses and workers that I passed in the halls were all pleasant. In the nuclear stress test/cardiology department to my good fortune Lucy and Sheena were at work. I have had many injections and iv’s in 66 years and Lucy is No. 1 in that department. She is personable, knowledgeable and made everything stress free. Sheena was very friendly and explained everything to me which calmed me down. Some floors may be drab looking and the 1960 building may need updates, but the employees are what’s important and they brighten this hospital.
Thanks Lucy and Sheena!

1) No proper accomodetion for patient to rest and get better.
2) even worse, they don't even care, Patients actually feel worse going there.
3) This facility is worse then many of the third world country. We went there by mistake.
4) Its so bad Instead of paying tax for to run facility like this. Hospital should pay us to be trated here as it seems they are running and experiment "how bad can you treat patients and they will still survive". Really bad place even people in health would be sick here let alone actual patient.
23 September 2023 9:05
Without question, the best hospital experience I've had, and I have had a lot of them. Parking great. Admin friendly. Professional nurses. Surgeon was spectacular. Even the food destroyed the stereotype. I wish to thank everyone I encountered and those I didn't for restoring my faith in our medical system.
12 September 2023 2:35
At Centenary Hospital, security guard and medical professional is pretty much the same job. No wonder why our health care system sucks….
04 September 2023 9:02
Waited over an hour at the walk-in clinic just to be told it was closed. AN HOUR EARLY! It's an AFTER HOURS CLINIC, that closed at 7pm.
Asked the receptionist if she could at least stamp the parking ticket so I wouldn't have to pay. She took it and didn't stamp it.

So I waited for over and hour to pay $20.
All I needed was a tetanus shot.

Waste of time and waste and money.
04 September 2023 7:53
This place and the staff deserves all the stars. I gave birth here and had an amazing experience. The doctors and the nurses are so amazing I can’t thank them enough. I’ve been to the emergency twice as well and both times the wait wasn’t too long and we were well taken care of.
08 August 2023 6:57
The Emergency room staff is absolutely out of hand. They just yell at patients and talk them with a very rude attitude. After sitting in the emergency for over an hour, we still haven't had a single person attend to us or even start the triage process. Meanwhile both ladies at triage just chit chatting.anytime some asks any type of question, they just talk over the patients repeating the same thing to them about taxes and doctors. This is horrible and unacceptable behavior. I understand it is a hard job but if you can't take the heat GET OUT of the kitchen. No need to put it on sick and stressed patients
Main thing the physician will charge you $500 until and unless you pay the sum they won’t even look at you no matter how worst youe situtation is.
31 July 2023 5:37
The customer service is horrible. And myself as a black person? The black staff there are even more rude to our own people. Black nurse with short hair in the triage didnt even acknowledge me initially when my husband was speaking to her, and when she did, she was like “who is she” with so much attitude. And then I called into just find out the time about an appointment and whoever picked up the phone was so unprofessional, she should be fired. She literally hung up the phone in my face when I asked her a simple question. Like if you dont like your job, leave. Your dealing with people, dont take your problems out on me. Thank you very much
28 July 2023 21:51
Very garbage and very very slow service 6 hours waiting and nothing doit very poor staff and very rude this not hospital
24 July 2023 16:19
It’s better to suffer and die in the peace and dignity of your own home than to come to this “hospital”.
27 October 2022 11:22
Dr. Bendago and team went above and beyond. I am very greatful for the help I got here today and on many past occasions.
27 September 2022 6:34
Worthless. Been there 2 days in a row, amongst tens of people wearing masks, opposite me 2 women in registration not wearing masks eating and drinking, while showing each other clothes on their phone. Meanwhile, nobody was getting served and full.of attitude if we dare to ask them a question. Why my tax money is used to pay these losers is above me.
There is no crisis you all too lazy to do your jobs, enough also of you asking us to donate money or help in any way. Help what? Not doing your jobs? You are a cancer to Scarborough. I support every goverment who will come and scrap your entitlement!
19 September 2022 2:21
Kind and compassionate doctors and nurses in the birthing center and nicu. Purchase an H-pass from the parking office if staying multiple days.
18 September 2022 10:43
Called no one answer the phone. Never got a call back either. Called hospital for Induced labour 1 week past the due date already. I need to speak to the manager. Reviewing for a friend.
16 September 2022 7:50
The experience I had in the cardiac short stay unit was amazing. The nurses were so helpful and wonderful. I was treated with kindness and respect.
16 September 2022 3:05
Went for my follow up visit last week (not my choice since it wil take another 11 weeks elsewhere) They changed my appoinetment without telling me. So I wasted half a day, paid for parking only to come back 48 hour later) Doug Ford please do all of scarborough all a big favour and shut this place down. Front desk made it sound like it is my fault, until i showed them the appoinmant card in his own hand writting.
22 August 2022 9:39
I have go through so many things with this hospital. As an international student I received better services by RNs and Drs
It is really working hospital and one thing which bothers me is just waiting times in emergency due to numerous patients and documentations.but worth it.
15 August 2022 12:03
Very kind nurses and the doctors were nice and took care of me. Even though I really wasn’t feeling well it was nice to see they had a tv and that made my experience in there a lot better. This room is really nice and the bed was very clean. Thanks to the nurses who helped me and tried to not poke me so hard when taking blood. They were really gentle. I would definitely recommend this hospital!:)
24 July 2022 23:03
This is the closest hospital for people in Scarborough however it doesn’t matter because no matter what’s your health condition, be it dislocated shoulder, broken leg or even dying situation these guys will ask you to wait for no less than 4-6 hours. Trying to talk to Registered Nurses or hospital staff they give no attention and walk away while you are speaking.
Hospital Considerate towards patients zero rating. Hospital will only consider your situation when you call 911 because guess what they make money out of it.
My suggestion would be they change the name from Emergency to whenever we feel like working.
Ridiculous experience.
07 July 2022 3:46
The only reason I gave two stars is bc of the nurses and some doctors in the Er. Otherwise, the wait time is disgustingly long. I waited 4 hours to see a doctor and then 2 hours for a CT scan and another hour to be called back in. Oh and the chairs in the waiting rooms are sooooo uncomfortable. Terrible ER experience!
09 January 2022 10:18
I was admitted to the mental health inpatient unit, and some of the nurses were amazing and i miss them.but others gotta chill.one in particular who was "assigned" to me made me feel constantly anxious bcus of her attitude.i would try to speak my truth but then made feel like i said something wrong.on the other hand, i would hear other guy workers (dont know their exact role) yell at another girl for breaking rules.i understand its frustrating when someone wont listen to you, but it really disturbed me due to how harsh they were.thankfully i was on their good side so they treated me nicely, but i still got kinda scared.really the food was the only thing to look forward to tbh.the lemon tarts were bomb.i liked how once ur out of covid isolation, ur free to take whatever u like from the kitchen fridge.ps; if u end up coming here, ask for some word games or books to keep u entertained during (approx 3 day) isolation.it rly helps.
09 January 2022 0:12
Horrible communication between doctors and nurse staff doesn't look properly trained and putting there own responsibility on other hospital never going there again
29 December 2021 2:44
Worst ER. Longest wait I've ever been. You think it's almost your turn when you get called to have someone see you but no - it takes another hour! And you observe they're just chatting. Where the heck are your doctors!
24 December 2021 7:23
Went into emerg with broken ankle last weekend. There were 2 guys that check your covid status and gives you a mask before u check in at triage. The guy that greeted us, his name is Peter, is A GEM! He was pleasant, helpful, and full of positve energy. When he wasnt busy, he organized the wheelchairs at the entrance, and straightening out the waiting area. This guy should be handed the position that trains future employees! Did I mention the other guy? Ya he was busy on his phone.didnt look up once! Hence 4 stars and not 5
05 December 2021 21:37
Fracture clinic is the most horrible place to go. Please don't see any doctor at this place. They have no clue what they are doing.
05 December 2021 6:12
I deal with several hospitals every week, and this is the worst run administration I've ever seen.
05 December 2021 5:29
Terrible emergency service and worst screening staff at the entrance on November 5 at 11: 25 pm, no compassion, No humility.
29 November 2021 2:55
Shut this hosiptal down. Do not go here. Do not take your children here. Doctors and nurses are disgusting.

Best hosiptal - Please go here.
Sick kids for Children (5 stars)
Mount Sanai Hosiptal downtown. (5 stars)
18 November 2021 19:05
I had my baby here it's really a great experience enjoyed the great care, support from the mid mother and lovely team of nurse and doctor. They made the process very smooth highly skilled.
14 November 2021 23:13
The worst hospital ever. I went for emergency room due to a terrible pain in my heart. They made me wait for 9 (10 pm - 7 am) hours and nothing happened. They wasted my blood and threatened me that if I leave the hospital I won’t get my results anyways. They didn’t submit my blood test results and I had to visit another Dr the next day. Staff were rude and were shouting at people who were asking when the Dr comes. Horrrrrrrible
14 November 2021 16:54
Really rude people. In the midst of a family emergency, a loved one suddenly being moved within the hospital and us trying to find him, we were given the wrong extension number and the lady who picked up was so rude! She hung up on me after me trying to explain this is the only extension i was given. No cares at all. Then trying to call the general number is the same thing, the women who answer these phones are so rude and unprofessional. You would think they have kind and compassionate people on the other line but NOPE! Avoid
13 November 2021 2:53
I had a script from my Dr there, and brought it down to the Shoppers Drugmart. The rude, ignorant, miserable pharmacist (the middle eastern man), is the worst Pharmacist i have ever had the displeasure of trying to deal with, in all of my 56 years. He shouldn't be allowed to walk people's pets, let alone deal with customer service. I am writing to corporate headquarters to file a formal complaint, then a formal complaint to the College of Pharmacists. 0/10 across the board!
25 October 2021 21:47
Had a great shortstay while getting my angiogram. Want to thank Rameez who is a nursing student from mcmaster university and supervised by Sylvia whi wascgreat also. Dr. Burstein is an amazing cardiologist and very down to earth.
19 October 2021 11:02
Dr. Bodega in the surgical unit is by the far the worst doctor I’ve come across in my entire life. Followed by Dr Elahi the doctor who Dr bodega refers his patients to because he is incapable of following up with them himself. Dr bodega and Dr elahi do not follow up with you as they say they will.

Thanks to the incompetent Dr. Bodega I am left with permanent scarring. You should follow up with patient’s health matters as you promised. Your patients shouldn’t have to hunt you down. Appalled by the lack of care.
18 October 2021 21:57
The lady who takes the calls has such attitude. Really disappointed. I cannot express my disappointment. She does not belong in a customer service position. This is not the career for her.
19 September 2021 14:22
My grandmother suffered from random memory loss. She never had any memory problems before this and she was perfectly fine. They sent us home the first time we went and when it got worse we took her back. They did a CT scan and there was damage to the brain. Its been days and they keep delaying the MRI as she's worsening.

The nurses here are rude. The doctors won't give answers & won't put in the effort to find answers.

Please avoid this hospital for your loved ones!
09 September 2021 13:20
I took my mom to Emergency last night at 8 PM (June 21,2021) and still waiting in the hospital at 7 AM on June 22,2021 What a waste of time and the Doctors and Nurses just walking around and joking but they don’t care about any patients at all. Every year we donate money to SHN on my kids birthday and my birthday not anymore. We won’t donate any single penny in the future at all. Even the Doctors are very very rude. I never see any Doctors so rude in my life. This is the first time I saw very rude Doctors, Nurses and staffs. All of them are extremely rude.
Ontario government need to shut down this hospital and fire them all. All of them are such an idiots not even being a human.
06 September 2021 7:43
Horrible! I have taken 3 urine test to just have it left on the ground and the nurses have no respect or kindness. They do not find your problem and it is a totally waste of time.
01 September 2021 22:25
The doctor at the surgical clinics named Dr. Bendago is very unprofessional. I had an appointment on June 28 at 10: 30am. I have been waiting 30 minutes and it is very unprofessional for a doctor to be late for an appointment that you booked with them. The worse part is that not one person has even acknowledged my presence where the orange dots finish. I’ve been sitting here with not one person having come attend to me or my appointment. I don’t understand how the employees that work at centenary are so unprofesional as well as the doctors at centenary hospital are. They absolutely do not care and you will be well aware of this fact within minutes of stepping into this hospital.
Avoid centenary hospital at all times.
24 August 2021 23:50
Sent home after an X-ray with pain meds and no instructions aside from it’s not broken to be told by my family physician that my shoulder is indeed broken, where is the professionalism?
02 August 2021 12:43
I had the pleasure to serve in Centenary hospital vaccine clinic during Covid. Thank you all nurses, Doctors, Pharmacists, my colleauges
Hopefully one day I look at this review and tell to my self “that era is over. We beat Covid-19”
01 August 2021 17:03
I had my baby at their birthing center and it was amazing! Doctors and nurses were super nice! My experience was really great. My baby had to stay in the NICU for a few days and the nurses there was super sweet.
05 July 2021 19:35
Vaccine information: For all those people who are wondering which vaccine shot is being given at this hospital.
It is “PFIZER”.
No where on the website it is mentioned about the vaccine.
I hope this helps many people.

Note: Please make sure you have at-least 1 hour available to get vaccinated if you are coming after 5pm. Because it is at a prime location, It’s too busy.

Management and patient relations lack empathy and have caused me additional grief in my father’s passing!

My father was admitted to the 9th floor. He had dementia and according to hospital policy (pandemic) he was entitled to an essential caregiver but was denied. Patient Relations was contacted, spoke with Susan and was told that access was not granted immediately and she would consult with the floor manager to approve caregiver access. The request was made after my dad was admitted and there was no follow-up regarding this! I’m also disappointed that we were not given much video time, we had to resort to friends in the hospital who were able to give us additional phone time. It’s a shame that we had to ask our internal connects to have this time with my dad virtually. On the day of my dad’s passing, we were told that he had a few days left to live and we were denied compassionate visits. Again, this was a breach in the hospital’s policies. According to policy if a patient is at end of life they are entitled to compassionate visits. The nursing station only granted us a video call at around 6pm and he passed at 9: 20pm. The nursing station advised us of his passing, we requested to see my dad and was denied. My family and I arrived at the hospital and were told that we would only be able to see my dad at the funeral home. I became aggressive with security and screeners in order to see my deceased father. The day after my father’s passing patient relations was contacted, spoke to Susan and the conversation did not go well because she didn’t know that my father had passed. This means that my request was never looked at. Due to their lack of compassion and empathy it cost my father his last moments with his family. Susan was not empathetic and told me that she would contact me after consulting the floor manager. A week later Susan and the floor manager called to justify their mistakes and deflect their shortcomings. They hid behind covid stating the unit was under suspected outbreak for covid, however my dad had 3 covid tests and all were negative. They hid behind IPAC protocols but broke those same protocols when I showed up and created havoc. I work in long term care and we follow SHN directives and IPAC protocols. How is my nursing home which follows the same rules are able to grant compassionate visits regardless of suspected or declared outbreaks and the hospital didn’t? Both Susan and floor manager made remarks such as “what do you want us to tell you? What would make you feel better? ” I did not appreciate their tone, they didn’t accept any ownership for not reviewing my dad’s caregiver request and for denying him compassionate visits. I disconnected the call as they continued to deflect all of my concerns. Fast forward, 2 months later my uncle was covid+, admitted to the 8th floor and then transferred to covid ICU. In his last week of life, he was granted compassionate visits, 1 hour, 1 visitor, per day (in COVIC ICU Unit). In the last 2 days of life, my uncle was granted 2 visitors at a time on rotation and was able to share his last moments with his family collectively. In my uncle’s final moments, we were able to be by his side. (All 10 of us in the covid ICU room). I’m grateful that my uncle was surrounded by his loved ones during his passing however it shed light on how poorly my dad’s end of life was handled. Not only do I grieve for my father but I carry guilt that he passed without any of us by his side. I’m extremely upset that my dad’s end of life was not handled with compassion and dignity. I'm enraged with anger that my dad was robbed of his family when it mattered most. Dealing with death is not easy, and the fact that the hospital inflicted this guilt on me is upsetting. My father’s rights were ignored, and this guilt I carry was due to someone else’s discretion at the hospital. I hate that management and patient relations ignored policies (visible on website), hid behind covid and robbed us of our father’s final moments. For the hospital my dad was just another number, but for me he was my father.
19 June 2021 9:56
The nurses in the emergency department are soooooooo rude. Unbelievable. I appreciate all nurses. I honestly couldn't do your job. I have so much respect for you and what you do. But please try to have patience. Try to remember how scared a sick person is.

UPDATE: Stay Away
Went today with my baby and left. I didn't make it past the waiting room. In a 10 x 5 space there were 9 people. There is NO social distancing. Go somewhere else that's safe.
17 June 2021 20:07
I went yesterday for severe back pain by ambulance. The old male doctor just gave me a pain killer and said you can't be here for pain. He didn't do any x ray or MRi. Sent me back. Why they are for-treating people or why people go there? Now I am lying on bed with severe pain. Hospital should take action. Nurses are so polite and helpful minded. But that doctor seems to me a racist for his attitude.
12 June 2021 15:42
My mother had MRI today. Not once was anything in the waiting room cleaned after patients. My mother got changed in a room then another man went right in after not a single bit of cleaning done. No social distancing patient side by side in changing rooms. How is it that severything is closed but the hospital isn't following public health protocol

I weared gloves for my both hand and entered inside hospital during covid 19 first wave, the reception asked to remove my gloves that was also satisfactory to me so I removed my gloves and pleased to ask if I can wear new gloves from this point.she said hospital policy is not allow to wear gloves. I didn't oppose to her refusal and proceeded to, but I am not happy with their policies. I am reporting here so if freedom of opinions and expression and my view points may even change those ruling by any other official.my self protection request denied is not reasonable by that employee or by the hospital.keep in mind.doctors and nurse use gloves. You can wear shoes and sleep on bed with shoes.they don't change it for every other patients. They only check when you enter in.after there are no blocks for checking.people they don't use liquid to wash frequently and no one monitor after they entered inside hospital.they just ask random questions and test your temperature.but keep in mind.many symptoms are unknown to those.no one tell truth to that desk about their covid symptoms and then lie and enter inside.so I needed protection.that is why I asked to wear gloves.it will protect me at lease. I used 5 mask together.our retailed shop masks are not thick enough.to protect you.above is just my opinion. Not a medical or legal advise.this is what in my mind and expressing my viewpoints
