Scarborough Health Network - General Hospital

I had my third baby boy birth in Scarborough general hospital, the staff were very friendly, doctors are very nice, gentle.

The wait is extremely long and the man named Anthony that sells gold in the building is a scammer please do not buy from anybody that sells gold in that hospital and I know he goes to the Birchmount road one too. He took my money and jewellery that was damaged and I’m get to hear anything from him regarding any of it. Reported him and hospital who allows him to rent the space are saying they can’t do anything and I should call the cops. Nobody is helpful there and regarding my main reason for going there nobody knows their job including doctors. I should have gone to sunnybrook.

This hospital should add more staffs to work ;cause in an emergency ward patient had to wait more than 5hours. This hospital is really disgusting. I would recommend others not to visit this hospital rather find other good ones in the town

Took my mom here, such a long wait that they said the time window for her stroke was already up and not much they could do afterwards. They said even if we did arrive on time they would have to send her to toronto general because they don't have the medication for it.

Please change its name from hospital to waiting room because when you to emergency ward you have to wait for hours hours

I came to emergency ward for my treatment at 9: 50 pm I waited for specialist unit 1 o'clock the emergency ward has this situation other ward my be take 2 or 3 days its means don't come to hospital

Worst emergency dept. They left a 88 year old woman with a broken arm in a OLD wheelchair for hours. Disgusted. If you bring in half a million immigrants you'd better build more hospitals. My fundraising is done! No chairs, wheelchairs with broken wheels, the bathroom was never cleaned in 7 hours as we sat there for the whole time. Scarborough Health Netwirk, WHAT ARE YOU SPENDING THE MONEY ON?

Postpartum care is the worst here I was sent home with a double c section that’s 2 fresh wounds not being able to pass gas and that’s their “rule” if you fart they kick you out well I can’t and I’m being discharged I can hardly walk too
Best of all you have to beg for your medications here I waited an hour and a half begging 3 nurses to just look at my chart see the medicine that’s prescribed and give it to me I’m in so much pain I can’t get up to pee

Two nurses are outstanding Ruth and Samara the others don’t care

If you get a shared bathroom that reeks of piss congratulations you got the same room I did it was gross my roommate didn’t help though she kept peeing on everything like a wild animal

You want to hear about food next? Wonderful let me tell you after c section you can’t eat so you get chicken broth not gonna lie that stuff is actually good

But when you are switched to solids you get the joys of eating a sliced soggy bread with butter no jam nothing just one slice can’t go crazy feeding patients

The NICU staff need metals they go above and beyond for those patients and their parents only people I trust in this hospital

This hospital emergency department is worst thing ever. Specially doctors very very very rude they make you wait hours and hours. I went there with my mom for one test they made my mom waiting so long and when I ask doctors one of the emergency doctor responded very rudely that I am not her doctor. This people really needs to change their behaviour. Patient come here for treatment not taking your attitude. Management should have to stand up for their behaviours and educate them how to behave. How sad to see how people forget manners while having medical degrees. I am really hoping government do something about this.

7 hour + wait time for a child to see a doctor in the ER. The whole place is dirty. Even with the specialty clinic, you're waiting at least 2 hours when u have an appointment.

Arrived for an appointment made 3 months previous for an MRI. Found the imaging department (in the basement), but had to return to the main entrance to register. Went smoothly and quickly after that minor hiccup. MRI lasted about an hour, and I realized that the machine is claustrophobic, so if you're scheduled for this test I suggest you get a tranquilizer from your doctor to take just before the test, it's difficult to remain immobile when claustrophobic.

We will not go back here again. My mom collapsed from a high fever. They started her on drip antibiotics and then gave her a prescription for antibiotics. I asked them if they had done a Covid test they said no she doesn’t have Covid. Guess what guys, She had Covid. Never again.

Great ER experience. Yes it took a while, and I was not provided a bed (likely had higher priorities). But the staff were excellent and at the end of the day they found out what was wrong. This is public health care folks they have minimal resources. If you expect fast go pay a few thousand for private. They did an overall excellent job!

Despite massive donations, SHN has a LOT of work to do on improving their facilities and quality of care. Please stop spreading misinformation on your websites. Also I waited 8+ hours in the ER in the middle of night and saw 30+ patients walk-in, and never got to see anyone, I was the only caucasian individual among the staff and patients, to note.

Not organized at all. Only person who was professional was the neurologist I saw. Staff, reception, neurologist’s office look like they were hired the day I went there. They had no idea what they were doing. It is crazy over there. Other hospitals in Toronto do not have necessarily better surgeons or specialists but they are way more organized and professional than SHN

Wow! I am not the only one. I am on hemo dilaysis since December of 2019.1. Because of the wrong medication they gave me for the infection, I lost my hearing (Amikacin).
2. My Bp was high suddenly for almost a year; it’s low all the time. They couldn’t find out the reason. They stop taking fluid in the middle of the dilaysis. I don’t feel any symptoms such as dizziness or vomiting. So I told them that I would try as much as I could without a bp number. Theresa and Tong agreed that some of the nurses were very cooperative and that they tried it and it worked well. But most of the time, nurses are different and new; they work with BP numbers only. I will end up with extra fluid, especially on Tuesdays after the weekend. It’s really uncomfortable. They are not seeing the patient's history. They are just doing what the rules say; they don’t care about the patient. They care only about their names. My concern is due to the extra fluid; if anything happens to me, who will be responsible? Management must talk to all the nurses and train them well. Jolana is my favourite, and there are three others whose names I don't remember. They talk to the patients politely when they insert the needle; there is no pain, and the needle is removed also. Some nurses insert in the wrong direction or back to back, It’s very painful.

I replied to her if everyone do it at home you won’t have job.

The nurses and the doctors was really nice and friendly. Room environment was okay. If you had to stay, the rooms do have a television and a DVD player.

Meal wise, you're in the hospital, so you're suppose to eat healthy and less oily.

Wait time is worse! My wife is pregnant and we went straight to ER at around 12: 30am and waited for 2hours just to get inside and checked by the doctor then the doctor only did ultrasound which he said he doesnt have an expertise with but that's understandable so we waited again then ended up being sent home at 6am because they said they cannot book the ultrasound for they dont have secretary on nightshift so they'l going to give us a call when that person gets back. At 9am someone gave us a call and said go to ER at 11am to book for ultrasound and we got here before 11am and up until now at 1: 40pm, we're still waiting for my wife's turn. I would not go back here if i have the option. I would not recommend this hospital to anyone

Update: 2: 16pm found out from the guy that we were not registered yet for ultrasound. What a disorganized place!

Always friendly staff, they're so helpful with any questions you may have about directions for where you need to go and to help you with your appointments
Clean and even though they're doing upgrades through out the hospital you don't really notice it

So my experience at the hospital was very bad because one of the nurse said let’s get this monkey out of you and I think I need to sue her for racial speech and I was in soo much pain that I didn’t do anything about it as it constantly on my mind that somthing needs to be done about calling my baby monkey, I need to let her pay so she dnt call other black babies money and I swear on God she said it but I was so shocked too I couldn’t believe she sd that I only told my husband about it and he is very upset

Came in Thursday night about 11: 50 pm the nurses weren't busy but they didn't even try hurry along to patients waited until am to get in to see the Dr at 4: 45 am still no dr apparently there is only 1 Dr in the whole er

I delivered my baby here 2 weeks ago. Everyone in the birthing services department and newborn assessment clinic was so nice and helpful. They were taking care of everything regarding me and my baby. I have no complaints at all.

They take forever to take patients in the triage room. Even though emergencies do take some time, there were so less nurses but many patients. They were super slow. I waited for 3 hours Infront of the triage room. They took 3 hours to see like 10 people. I suggest them to have more nurses.

One of the worst experiences I received in hospital. We been waiting for more than 6 hours and no one showed up. After all we got the call for x-ray, and it’s done in less than a minute. The doctor said he will come and talk to us and he never shown up and went home with out reaching us. My friend had sallow for his finger and he been suffering from severe pain
