Amazing breakfast place. It's been around for years, and it's always held up. My favorite spot in Toronto.

Food is good but don’t see the value for its price. Service can definitely be improved; because of the demand and small capacity, I can see why the staff can be overwhelmed, but when you are charging that much, you definitely expect more.

I went for a business breakfast, and the food and service and location were truly excellent, the only small criticism I have is that inside the restaurant itself with just a tiny little bit cold. But everything else was outstanding

Amazing atmosphere. They always do something to improve their patio and indoor settings. A great taste of colour with their patio plants and an added turf carpet under the wooden tables. I’m already a fan of their food as I always visit this place when visiting Toronto. Just thought I’d give a review while waiting for my friends to order)

Decisions at School are tough since everything is delicious! Will you pick Krispy Krunchy French Toast, Black n' Blue Flapjacks, Synonym Toast, or The Safe Bet with scrambled eggs and the best potatoes ever? I think you should just keep coming back until you’ve tasted the whole menu! I plan to!

I tried the Golden Hashbrown Poutine because that’s what you do in Canada duh.

For a sweet dish I got the Synonym Toast which is a think Challah with the right amount of dulce de leche & cream cheese frosting topped with Cinnamon Toast Crunch - You know I love me a dish with all textures

& of course, coffee ️

The breakfast here is a perfect way to start the day!

Really fun vibe. The pancakes here are amazing. So's the fried chicken. Definitely a cool hangout place for warm summer nights in the city. Have already been back twice this summer.

I ordered "the safe bet" and my friend got their "buttermilk fried chicken & waffles. " I'm a bit disappointed with my dish because I didn't particularly like how the "hashbrown" was made. Everything was hard to pick up, even the salad since everything was small and crumbly. The biscuit was nice though but you can find a better breakfast with everything for a better price. Otherwise, my friend and myself enjoyed the chicken & waffles. They were tender; however, they give you honey instead of maple syrup so its not as savory. I'll probably come again to try their pancakes and French toast as those were BIG and looked good.

Definitely on the pricier end and expect a wait to get in but wow; the food is absolutely worth the hype.

Great find in Toronto! For me anyway, lol. Food choices are excellent and my wife and I enjoyed the waffle/chicken and scrambled eggs, hash, bacon and muffin combinations. The cooks are bang on with seasoning and enhancing the natural flavours of the food. The dip for the chicken was very good, with layers of garlic, honey, maple syrup and a touch of heat. Our experience was excellent and we would highly recommend you try for the same!

Cool vibes and even better food. We went early for brunch and thankfully didn't wait long in line.

Food wasn't worth lining up for and then when seated we waited for another 45mins for food. It seemed staff took a break during brunch service. Food would come out in waves. Not worth the money!

Great place for brunch! Friendly staff, cozy environment. Be prepared to wait on Sundays as it's really busy. Stopped by twice this week, no bad experiences.

A perfect place for brunch. You will get all sorts of desserts but not many savories. They serve in big sizes so it's difficult for one to finish a whole dish. Otherwise it's a great place for having brunch with friends!

Went into this restaurant knowing nothing and I surprised!

I had a bacon, cheese french toast and it was SO good! I almost thought the syrup was a shot! The salad was a nice balance between everything. I had to remove some of the cheese but still, I would recommend this dish! It’s really good!

Terrible.

Was told that this place a must-try during my trip to Toronto from my coworkers. Apparently the Raptors team comes here after practice.

Didn't get the hype, the service was terrible, food was pricey, and the food wasn't that good. When I asked for ketchup, the workers took forever and I saw them just gossiping at the counter.

I ordered the Safe Bet and the only good thing on the plate was the eggs, that's it.

Would not come again.

I would like to give zero star if I could. The chicken is super dry and fries are burnt. I have been waiting for 2 hours for this shxt.

School takes a lot of care in their branding with school themed dishes, chemistry beakers for cups and receipts that come as a report card.

The food is tasty and takes classic North American brunch staples and puts a spin on it.

Food was on the pricier side but it was delicious! I loved the fluffiness of the pancakes - definitely a shareable plate. My friend had the chicken and waffles and she said they were excellent and would order again. I gave 4 stars because the drinks took a little long to get to the table and my latte was actually served in a dirty cup (someone else’s lipstick was still on the cup) … and they should probably do something about the wasps and birds hovering over the tables in the patio. Other than that, good service overall. Would visit again.

Very innovative and tasty food! I thought the school vibe was cute, and their patio seating is well set up to provide flexible spacing and coverage form the sun. Prices were decent/standard and the service was fast and friendly!

Atmosphere and service were good overall, but the food really did not worth the 30 mins wait. Fried chicken was really dry and the toasts were mediocre. If you don’t live nearby, might as well go to your neighbourhood restaurant instead of lining up here.

Their service is super slow. People who got after us, ate and left while we were waiting for our food. It took them 1 hour to get the food ready. Also our server wasn’t smile at all, they need better service

Nice place. Used to eat here a lot when it was the Warehouse Grill. School is keeping up the quality and have expanded the dining room and have a back patio now. Food was great and the service was super friendly

Food and service was good, the place itself is a nice and comfortable vibe. Easy parking right across the street. Only issue I had was that you can't add eggs to your orders. I know some restaurants follow a no modification policy, but you're allowed to add on a lot of stuff as you can see from their menu, but you can't eggs.it's a brunch location and only 2 menu items have eggs, and the only item that has 2 eggs are scrambled and you can't ask for it to be changed. It's extremely weird to me that a brunch place like this won't even let you order and pay for eggs, makes no sense.

Waited a long while, they sat us out in the parking lot under a tent behind the building. The bees buzzing around our food was so bad a waiter gave us an electric fly swatter. Good food but wouldn't go again.

Casual cozy place located in an area slightly off of the GTA core, amazing breakfast and brunch type foods, that has smart twists to make favorites even better!

Updated review. The quality of has gone down over the years yet the prices keep going up. The service is quite slow to get coffee, water, orders in. It can be busy but there’s things they could do to help like leaving a pitcher of water at the table, especially when seating is outdoors and it’s 30 degrees out.

The food is fine, nothing to go out of your way for. The menu is really restricted if you have dietary concerns as they don’t allow any substitutes or alterations. Be aware if you have any restrictions. An example is I asked for my egg to be on a side plate so my dining companion could eat it and it didn’t contaminate my meal, that was denied.

The chicken in the chicken and waffles was a bit dry, but the synonym French toast and sangria (elderflower syrup, crème de violette and mango tangerine juice) were delicious!

Tables indoors and outdoors were spaced far enough apart. The patio is covered and restaurant is well ventilated.

This place was very underwhelming overall. Don't get fooled by the big lineup at the door. The service was so slow. We waited about 40 minutes after ordering to get served. The food was very mediocre and not even hot enough. Not impressed by the selection of the food on their menu either. Very limited list of savory food.

They do however need to upgrade to a better reservation system. They only allow walk ins and won’t even provide an estimate wait time. Time to become part of the 21st century.

Sever was curt and inattentive.
I ordered the breakfast poutine and asked for an extra egg. Was told that they refused to add an egg even with an extra charge. The server implied this would be too complicated for the kitchen.
The food arrived - the gravy was cold, potatoes were unseasoned, mushy (not pan fried and crispy as menu suggested) dish overall was not a good eating experience. We had to get our own salt and pepper, our waters were not refilled as they were finished ect. School fails to provide even the bare minimum of service that any decent restaurant delivers with ease.

Absolutely awful value for money and not worth the wait as they don’t take reservations.

Green P parking is right across the street. I wasn't sure how big their patio would be, but they had plenty of covered patio space all around the restaurant.

I'm not going to lie, there were a lot of mixed reviews for this and I wasn't sure if it would live up to the hype but the blueberry pancakes were actually really soft and fluffy not as doughy or cakey as I thought. The sauce was amazing but it could be a little overly sweet for some people. The best part was the Cheesy french toast, which I doubted I would initially like but was just amazing.

I've been to School a number of times now, always for brunch, and they never disappoint. It has quietly become one of my favorite brunch spots in Liberty Village. I've always been seated and served quickly and the food is always delicious. They have great outdoor seating and a good vibe. I recommend and I'll definitely be back.

The staff here are so nice! The food was just incredible! The service was really good as well! I’ve never been here and they definitely did make my first time a great one! I highly recommend checking this place out! It’s such a cute restaurant! Their chicken and waffles were bombbb

Really great food, healthy and unhealthy options available. Great brunch or lunch spot, lots of delicious options. Only issue I have faced in the past is long wait times to be seated, even when having a reservation. I have been a few times but not since before COVID, so I can’t speak to that issue now. Otherwise, great spot!

I'm a pancake lover and had to try their pancakes. Simply, they were delicious! I like hearty, more dense pancakes and these were just that. Nice flavour, delicious blueberry topping and the maple butter was delicious. There was about a 30 minute wait for a table at noon on Sunday. But they have lots of tables outside which is nice. Service was very good.

Knowing that this crazy, busy, and popular brunch place is always busy; thought I’d give it a try for dinner! I heard good things from my peers about School Restaurant. I called the restaurant in advance just to place a reservation (that’s right they do reservations at night), the person who answered the phone was very accommodating (I believe his name was Robbie). Service was amazing and the server was better. I’m not sure what his name was but he had a shaved head, unconventional nose piercing, and all black skinny tight Canadian Tuxedo. Kudos to Chef Arturo for the excellent food (Sticky Butts French Toast & Chicken and Waffles) Overall I had an amazing time at School Restaurant, whether it be during the brunch or dinner service! I can ensure you that the it is worth the wait!

Second time we have paid for parking only to find the restaurant opened later than regular hours.no posting online the night before to indicate this.

The food was art-like. Although, it was tasty and portions were very generous, you won't find your classic bacon and eggs here. Also, it's a bit on the pricey side for breakfast.

The School concept and design was unique and interesting to look at. I liked noticing all the small touches throughout. My personal favorite, was the raspberry/blackberry juice that came in a beaker. It's a more "hipster-esque" vibe, so you will either love it or hate it depending on which type of crowd you liked. Personally, I found myself somewhere in the middle. I wouldn't come here as a regular but I'm glad I tried it.

Oh, and 2000's hip-hop was playing all morning. That was pretty stellar.

All in all, if you are coming here for Mimosa's with your friends, this would be a great hang.

One of the best places to get brunch in the city. Clever theme, great service and amazing food. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The only thing, you might have to wait 1-2 hours to get a seat, so try to get there early because they stop serving around 3pm.

This place is overpriced; $21 for the waffles chicken and $6 for the grapefruit lemonade. The waffles is soft and delicious. The chicken is juicy but has a bitter aftertaste. Try to avoid the rush hours, waiting time could be 30 to 60 mins.

In weekend you need to stand in line. It has unique theme. We ordered “GOLDEN HASH BROWN POUTIN” It was good but not so delicious. Also we ordered “kale Caesar” with smoked salmon it was just fine. Good Service.

Food was good. Quantity and quality was good. Only feedback would be to increase indoor heating especially in winter. Other than that, great place with a retro and homey feel.

My daughter took me to this place, not a great experience. Paid huge bill for Bug in my drink, Leftover fries refried, Very greasy sandwich, bees around and small bugs flying around. Maybe it was time for them to close, although it was only 4.30pm on Saturday.

Long.long wait, but you'll enjoy the ambience as it plays episododes of fresh prince the in background while the clocks are set at 3 pm cause you know, school's out. The food is different and delicious. I enjoyed the experience, def a place to go and knock off your list foodie list.

Had to wait 40 minutes but it's reasonable considering they don't take reservations. Ordered the safe bet and blood orange juice while the wife and black and blue flapjacks with chai latte. Food was very good, definitely one of the better brunches I had. The scrambled eggs were not cooked through and had nice flavours, the hash brown was tasty and the bacon was flavourful without being too salty. The biscuit was crunchy and the salad was amazing, not heavily dressed. Service was excellent, would recommend it.

Best brunch in Toronto. A little bit out of the way in Liberty Village from the downtown core - but worth the commute. The chicken and waffles is heavenly. The vibe is great and the music is good too. Arrive very early on the weekends or else you will be waiting over an hour.

The atmosphere is nice but the quality of the food is terrible. The waiter told us the orange juice was freshly squeezed from the morning and it comes obviously from a bottle. My poutine was nos cooked enough and the avocado toast were brown (it was cold so the spread was sitting in the fridge). If you are picky about the food and you are expecting high quality, don't go there. Otherwise, the restaurant looks good.
