I had an urgent cash need for a large amount. There was some miscommunication with the support centre and my cash order never came to branch.

The folks working here went above and beyond to help me regardless. I was assisted and my needs were fulfilled without hesitation. The cashiers here deserve a huge raise and extra bonus for keeping up the name of scotiabank! Thank you

The five stars are not a rating of Scotiabank, but of the branch at Bathurst and Lawrence.

I became a client of Scotiabank in January 2020. I joined at the Thornhill Village branch, and was excited about a new bank and financial future. In short, that excitement drowned very quickly upon discovering Scotiabank has terrible customer service in general. The customer support centre is a call centre, and the agents are not well trained. Each agent would give me a total opposite answer to the same question, none of the answers I was provided were correct- this happened for months.

Going into my branch was a battle, and I dreaded the very thought of having to do any banking in person. You were greeted at the door with hostility by a rented security guard who thought she had the authority of the Queen. She forbade me entrance into the bank because she claimed there was a federal law that required me to wear a mask on my face while I was talking on the phone.

Another time after having continual fraudulent activity on my account, and Scotiabank security Department having not noticed it (and unhelpful when I called to inquire) ; I went to the branch to get a printout of all the fraudulent activity of my account. Nobody in the branch, including the three people who all claimed they were the manager, have any ability to help. What I did get was a very rude man, not interested in the possible criminal activity happening in my account; but him and his Iranian lady counterpart were only interested in me not "loitering on the couch" while I talk to the Scotiabank security Department. They threatened to call the police if I didn't leave (you know I was on the phone with their Bank security Department going over eight pages of fraudulent activity on my account).

The man and the woman, both thought there was an Act passed in Parliament that forbade people to talk on the phone without wearing a mask (if they're that uninformed on basic information, I knew I had to get my account out of that bank!).

Upon ushering me out with much hostility, and both him and her yelling at me and my daughter, they suggested that we sit on the sidewalk curb and call the Scotiabank fraud department sitting on the curb.

I had various experiences like this at the Thornhill village Scotiabank, and almost every time I would call the 800 number.

My decision to leave Scotiabank (or literally fleeing Scotiabank for my life) was about to be finalized until I received excellent care and compassion from a teller at the Bathurst and Lawrence location.

I was so shocked and surprised at the manner of professionalism, I had to double check I was at Scotiabank! Wasn't used to customer service or compassionate employees.

I visited that Branch three other times within two weeks. That branch offered to become my home branch, which would allow me to pull my connection out of Thornhill village forever. And would also retain me as a client of Scotiabank.

Bathurst and Lawrence location (Lawrence plaza) is everything the Thornhill village location is not! They greet you with hello, there's no security guard who forbids you entrance because she feels she has power, the tellers speak to you, customers are allowed to sit on the couches while they deal with banking affairs, and everyone who works there seems pretty nice!

I needed service, they did what I needed but not easily, not friendly, not efficiently. From the normal worker straight up to the manager, they all talk down towards you. Horrible multiple experiences. They’re the reason I’m switching banks.

Michelle Zhang assisted me with everything I needed to do at scotia. She was fantastic, I had a stellar experience. Close to 20 years with Scotia accounts and as a share holder happy to see great people like Michelle representing the company.

I was at this location yesterday and left feeling very attacked and like a criminal. The branch manager Geoff Lee asked me in a very rude tone where was the money I was depositing coming from. I was never asked this question before in any bank I have deposited cash. I have been depositing money in the amounts of $2000.00-$4000.00. He asked me in a rude tone as if I was doing something illegal. This caught me by surprised and I asked him why does he need to know this information? I was surrounded by other costumers waiting in line and was questioned on something private. He told me this was policy? He was rude and lied to me, since I found out no one is to question anything if the amount is less then $10,000.00. Your other tellers were just standing there looking on to our conversation. I am looking to close my account with your bank and taking my hard earned money to another bank based on this experience. You need to re-train your managers and tellers. I will also be calling customer service and would rate this bank zero stars if I could.

I absolutely hate going to this branch. I have a number of accounts there but my business accounts are elsewhere. Prefer the branch on avenue rd. They treat you like a person. This branch customer service is horrible. Beyond horrible. Last time I went in I walked out and started moving my business to Rbc. I have been a customer for 30 years with Scotiabank. This branch is holding funds on my business account when the cheques are corporate. Not a singe personal cheque. The account balance on the account is multiples higher. Multiples. Spoke to Claudia about it. She told me that that’s the rule. They will hold funds on anything over my daily withdrawal limit. Everyone else in the company who doesn’t hold finds is doing it wrong. Asked that the manager call me the following day. No phone call. Surprise. Can’t imagine how they treat people who only have personal accounts. Unfortunately this isn’t the first time I’ve had probs there. I will reiterate. Only went in because the Avenue rd branch was closed and didn’t want to drive around with my weekly business deposit. Next time I walk in is to close our family accounts

Horrible service - shah wahidi offered me horrible customer service refused to do my simple request. I would avoid him at all costs. After dealing with other people in the bank turns out on shah wahidi is the only person with horrible service. The tellers were nice and Patricia larocca was very nice and helpful but I’m leaving a 1 star for shah wahidi.

Absolutely the worst customer service at any Bank in the world. This is not my home Branch but unfortunately I have to go to it because it's closer to where I live. If you have to choose between the TD or the Scotiabank in this Plaza definitely go to TD. I have like six accounts at Scotiabank and it doesn't matter they still charge you for everything and they give you a hard time about everything.

HORRIBLE customer service
25 minutes on hold. I get picked up by a representative and put back on hold only to be sent to a VOICEMAIL.
