BEWARE! Double check you check/money order deposits. The teller input the wrong numbers and noticed after we left the bank. We spend ages trying to get ahold of them to catch the checks before they were sent to the processing center. Now the money is on hold for a few days to be ‘processed’.
It’s our fault for not checking thoroughly what the teller input. But as a teller, it’s your job to not have errors in deposits….

This branch never seems to have cash available for withdrawal from its Drive Thru ATM- and if you're not there during opening hours you can forget about getting into the indoor machines. Save yourself some time and head to a different location.

Great staff at this branch however I gave it a 3 stars because I wanted people to be aware their ATM is closed after 6pm on weekends. In addition, the drive thru is technically open but after 6pm you cannot withdraw cash-only make deposits or transfers. Save a trip. But in person all staff have been very helpful to me.

I can't tell you how pleased my wife and I are over the service and friendliness from the tellers at this branch. The new staff and the old staff both have a high degree of professionalism and kindness and this keeps us coming back to this branch. Thankyou Scotiabank for all your help over the years! I had to get my student account activated and I tried calling them for an appoitment but no luck! I directly went to the bank to get the job done but I was asked to wait to get an appointment for the next day. But it was really kind of Mr. Andrew Gazarek who decided to help me and I got my account activated in no time! Really helpful people and I am happy I chose Scotiabank.
I'd give it 5 stars but maybe if they start receiving calls more often.

Phone call costumer service should not have to wait 30 min to ask a question
All the money you make of of me with ATM service fee mortgage rate increase and banks normally recording record profits

One of the worst Scotiabanks in Durham, if you need to use the atm anytime after 10pm good luck, the bank in it self is always closed. If you need cash on hand please do yourself a huge favour and drive to another location. I have no idea why you’d even put a bank here if you can’t use it whenever.

Why are the ATMs closed on the weekend?

I found out the ABMs were closed due to concerns by people going in and finding people sleeping in there. The drive thru ABMs were still open.

Giving this place a one star review is too much. Worst bank on the face of the planet. Do not deal with them. They have horrible customer service, don't return calls, book apts and have no idea why you are there when you arrive, don't sign proper paper work and make up stories to cover themselves. Run away. Do not get anywhere close to this joke of a bank. Horrible!

Can't access the bank machines inside the bank because the doors are locked!
Tried to use the machine outside but it had no cash, had to use TD Bank and was charged service fees! Fix this please.

The front desk person is too lazy to sign in and give the appointment for loans.there online portal is not working to book appointments i drive to there branch the front desk person was roaming around after waiting him he giving lame excuses that i need to sign in but i cant right now so to have line up.for booking an appointment do i need to wait in teller line for that worst experience will not go back there

Terrible customer service. Dealing with Kimberly Verrall for 4 months just to be told theres nothing we can do. Dont expect to get anywhere as it seems she is out of the office more than in it. Im out $855 in fees and im back to where I was in october.

Nothing but problems with this branch and staff, after being on phone for hours and min wait time is 45 mins and if you miss it you have to start over, also high fees a problem pay over $50 a month on a basic account that has few transactions under my limit. Also never receive or miss calls from branch then start over again, waste of time better just to pay the fees without the hassle, guess it's all about the money not the paying customer, thanks Scotia bank, do not use this BANK.

I realize all banks are terrible, however, Scotia is on another level of terrible. Too long of an explanation but please believe me when I say, my experience with Scotia has been the worst. 1 star because I cannot go lower.

Simply the worst. The service here is nothing short of horrendous. Another visit and nothing accomplished what so ever. My fiancé and I had to visit the branch to simply add her to the the account, well wasn’t this a disaster. Who knew adding someone’s name to the account could be so complicated. This is one of many terrible interactions here and will be the last. I will be transferring my (supposed to be ours) accounts to TD.

Talk about a strange experience. The wait for a teller was greater than 30 minutes. I suppose there must be a reasonable explanation for this, but I did not see one. Secondly, I withdrew money from the ATM. I got a couple of 50s. I tried to redeposit these same two 50s into another account, but the ATM declared that one of the 50s was unacceptable. I told the teller this.something funny going on.

I have never been so disappointed in a bank the mortgage consultant I dealt with just was terrible at calling or fallowing up she didn't try and help resolve my concerns.
It took a mortgage broker to work with me and get me the help i needed. To bad Scotia just lost out on my half a million dollar mortgage and i am taking the rest of my business elsewhere soon that will be a total of 1.5 million you lose out on.

While waiting in line (customer service line, not the tellers) May 14th, 2021 at 3: 30 pm I was appalled to hear how the CSR dealt so rudely to an elderly customer that was in front of me. Disrespectful tone and condescending attitude from someone that is supposed to be the face of the brand.

I could not address the issue on the spot as I had my daughter with me and she asked me not to talk to her. The women was also quite brash with me as she took perhaps 5 seconds away from talking down to the elderly man to tell me walk ins are not allowed.

I left. But I will be returning to address her attitude.

Staff are great the problem is the atm machines are not accessible on weekends after the bank closes Saturday but of course the North Oshawa branch is and Courtice. Be prepared to drive to either the downtown Whitby branch, North Oshawa or Courtice. Also, the drive through atm runs out of cash frequently at this location. Not sure why but its 5: 52pm Saturday April 10 2021 and I was just there and can't withdraw cash. How does an atm run out of cash so soon. If it were not for scene points i would kick Scotia to the curb and drop em like a bag of cement

I cannot stand this bank. My original branch at Thornton and King closed, and now I have to drive downtown to this congested location. It’s stressful for people who don’t live close anymore. It’s always lined up. The ABMs never work and are the bane of my existence - have had NOTHING but problems trying to deposit cash or cheques, or using the drive-through machines which never work for what I need. One tries to avoid going inside with COVID and all, yet the machines are a hot mess. You have ONE JOB! I’m planning to switch to a Credit Union in the New Year.

Trying to speak with someone over the phone is an absolute joke. I waited on hold for 7 minutes only to be transferred to the wrong person, then was made to wait 15 minutes on my second call.

Don’t try to call in you will be treated less than human and your time means nothing to them. Waited almost an hour before just hanging up. Just Horrible customer service all around when trying to talk to a real professional on the phone.

Terrible Service! They accidentally took a lease payment out of my account two weeks ago from some other account. (I don't have a lease) I called in and was on hold. After speaking with them they refunded the money. So I look today and it has happened again. I call, the wait time at "my" branch is OVER 20 minutes.

I had an appointment and then they canceled. I now have to wait til who knows when for a new one. There are day appointments, but I work. Extremely disappointed. Instead of finding someone for me to see, they just didn't care.

They put my cash on hold because I deposited too much into the machine and I can't pay any bills with my account on hold. With the long weekend starting tomorrow I won't be able to pay bills or purchase online for 8 day's. The manager won't answer my calls or return them. I can't wait to close the account

Terrible place. Scotia bank posts billions in profits. Yet run their branches with bare bones staff. Phone is answered by a machine. And no matter what you press or say. You are sent to the national customer service. They dont know anything about branch buisness and cant help you. And if you go into branch they are too busy to help.
They could double the staff at each branch and actual answer the phone and help people.and I bet they would still posts billions a year in profit.

If I can give no star rating I would. Do yourself a favor, avoid this bank. If you are my friend I will sincerely tell you to not do any business with this bank. The teller is incompetent and rude and does not think for the customer at all.

Very disappointed. My first time at this bank and I came to open account, I brought in more than enough identification to open an account yet I was turned away. I drove all the home and decided to call them too. The representative said I had more than enough information and I drove back again. This time I was turned away for because there was nobody available. I wasted my gas and they're very contradictory.

I have been a customer before Scotiabank absorbed my bank. Recently, I became concerned where the bank stores my information (what country). I was assured by the manager that Scotiabank keeps my personal information in Canada, so it is protected under our laws and not the laws of a foreign country, ie, the United States of America.

I don't bank here, but i have had to deal with the branch manager for some estate affairs, and she was wonderful. If I were to pick a bank based solely on the people I knew that worked there, I would definitely choose this bank.
