Junk branch. The cashiers are pretty unhelpful. I understand following procedures, but recommending to “call the customer service to uninstall the app on the phone and reinstall to solve my problems”. It’s 2023, for Pete’s sake.

I just read all the reviews for this location. I totally concur with the reviews that a state terrible customer service at this Scotiabank. Even the manager was rude and short all I wanted to do was update my mobile app and they said I would have to make an appointment and come back because it was too close to closing time. They weren’t willing to help me at all I would not recommend this branch to anybody.

Amazing service always there when I needed them. Great team at this branch. God bless you all for making my transaction smooth at last minute for my mortgage. Thanks a million.

Inept, customer service deficient, robotic, prone to offend. No need to provide the narrative that’s already been described by others. All funds soon to be withdrawn.

When I tired to withdraw my own money, they made me feel I had to beg. The manager needs retraining on customer service, big power trip going on.

I went there to change my debit card as neither the tap nor the insert was working and when i told them the employee looked at me like i did something wrong. Then he proceeds to get the security questions done and asked me to sign and write my mother’s name on the slip. It was clearly written on the paper but when he started typing he wrote totally different letters, my mother’s last name is also KAUR and he asked me several times and i told him god knows million times its K not J he was writing JAUL instead of KAUR and said that my info doesn’t match. He looked so high, even his eyes were red! How can somebody hear L not R. Horrible experience.

I'm currently doing some renovation in the house and needed some cash to pay the contractor and buy some materials. The teller went to the manager for approval and he refused as he said that I needed to book it, asked him how much I could get without having to book and he said that he will not approve anything under his managers discretio.
Went to another branch and they happily told me how much they could give me as they dont carry a lot of cash on branch due to safety which is totally understandable.
Not sure why head office is not doing anything about this branch when all the reviews are terrible along with their customer service. Stay away from this branch

Went to deposit a cheque love banking with Scotia since I was in college they told me "they don't know me well enough" and then they further explained that I haven't applied for credit? So do you not know me or is it because I haven't allowed you to tap my credit? Yet you take a monthly fee from me all the time. F this branch this is the last week ill be with Scotia ever again

Great experience at the branch.

Friendly and knowledgeable service from Jay. Great customer service skills!

Debra is also great, though running out of wall space for all of her achievement diplomas.

Keep it up.

Huge security issues. Be careful!

Before July 2019, I had a Power of Attorney added to my account since I was traveling and needed someone to have access to my accounts in case I needed a new card while abroad.

When I returned in July 2019 I went into a Scotiabank branch to remove the Power of Attorney (POA) from my account. Scotiabank confirmed that the POA was removed.

Today, almost 2 years later, the POA informed me that they still had full access to my account. This was all without my knowledge, as Scotiabank had confirmed with me that this person was removed, when in fact they were not.

I called Scotiabank today (June 18,2021) and asked why the POA wasn't removed.

First, while asking my security questions, they ask who the joint account holder was (very unsettling since this person was supposed to be removed 2 years ago).

Then, when they inquired about my request they told me, "this person has been removed" meanwhile, the POA could still see all my account details and had access.

I let them know once again that the person STILL had access to all my details. (I couldn't see it from my account but the POA could see the details from their side/with their account).

After waiting on hold for a while, I was told that this issue would be directed to the branch to resolve the issue. The branch got back to me to confirm this person was removed with the following message. "The contact center asked me to remove the POA access and I have done so. Please let me know if you need anything else. "

Their team has handled this situation VERY poorly.

Having someone on my account for two years that had access to all funds, unknowingly, is a huge security issue, especially for a bank. Thankfully this person didn't withdrawal any funds that they had full access to and shouldn't have. However, other people in this situation may not be so lucky.

I have responded requesting the following information:

What caused this issue? Who was responsible for it? And what will be done in the future to prevent such issues?

Very disappointed. Be careful before considering banking with Scotiabank, especially if security is a priority for you.

Scotia and the staff here have no idea about how the business world runs. We offer many business services to clients that bank with Scotia and time and time again Scotia has no desire to create a harmonious working relationship for the benefit of mutual clients! They just flat out refuse to accommodate or work with all clients and their respective business financial partners. It is very unfortunate to say this but in our professional experience Scotia Bank has been the absolute worst bank we have ever dealt with and we highly recommend your take you banking needs to any bank but Scotia! I wouldn't even give the staff here 1 star let alone the bank itself but I have to put one star to post our review.

Many (many) thanks to Carmen and Laura for the time and resources they put forward to process (what turned out to be) a very complicated transaction. Long story short, I went to another Scotiabank location, only to receive poor guidance - but I am incredibly grateful for this Newmarket location as they rolled up their sleeves to make things right

Some of the employees and the manager here are not really qualified to be working in a bank. I honestly don't think they know what they're doing. One thing I tell everyone, please DO NOT RELY ON THE ESTIMATE THEY GIVE YOU! Such as motgage penalties, your monthly payment etc. You think their estimate would be off by a few % points? Wrong! I have all their correspondence with us in writing but they do not honour anything they've given us.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS BRANCH!

The service at this branch is horrible. I am not a customer but was asked to get a simple form verified by the Scotia Bank Head Office. After waiting for 30 minutes and going to 3 different people, the branch manager came and told us that they cannot verify this form as it is not an approved form on their list. Even though we were told by Scotia Bank head office to take the forms to any branch.

Excellent staff, managers, always there to help and answer questions and resolve banking issues.

Absolutely horrible customer service. Completely rude staff, honestly one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at a bank.
28 March 2020 16:40
Unprofessional advisors, no responsibility in the service, had to go three times to this location for missing sign for TFSA Really? Is it kindergarten or a bank?
Don't recommend this branch.
29 February 2020 6:33
Worst customer service I have ever seen, the manager she was so rude, I don't really know how she became a manager probably she had connection thats why she doesn't give a damn about customer service the behavior she has she cannot even get job at Tim Hortons. Good luck Scotiabank with your manager.
02 February 2020 22:58
Worst customer service I have ever seen! Even the manager is so unprofessional and obnoxious than the other staff, does not know how to treat customers.please do not waste your time going to this branch.

The communication and customer service here is pretty awful. Truthfully, I don’t know who to talk to anymore because there seems to be a lot of turnover; I’ve gone through four advisors at this branch. So when I call, I’m usually forwarded to the call centre. The call centre agents aren’t much help; they often give information that is not in line with what actually happens at the branch. Example: I wanted to do a currency exchange and was told that this branch would have the funds ready in within 2-5 business days. I followed up on the 5th business day, and finally, on the 6th, I was informed that the branch doesn't actually handle foreign currency exchanges. It would have saved me the hassle if I was told that 6 business days ago! Imagine hearing a bank tell you that they essentially can’t/won’t help you with your money? LOL! Unreal.

Worst experience ever with this branch.
Watever u need help with
All they say is no!
Went to the other branch in newmarket
They did it in second.
Not sure why.
Very rude people work here.

The drivethru ATM will shred your money while dispensing it, really not impressed with a major bank with a broken ATM. Other ATMs inside the branch only 1 has the option to dispense other denominations other than $20, however be aware that some of the ATMs may also tear your cash apart.

Didn't think it was so hard to understand that GOVERNMENT DOCUMENTATION wasn't enough. Unreliable staff and an even WORSE manager. Avoid this place at all cost. Unbelievable. If you are the manager and are reading this- I would LOVE to get in contact to get an explanation as to why GOVERNMENT. DOCUMENTS. DONT. COUNT. I had all my I. D and because of a legal name change, you told me to my face it "wouldn't work". Okay. Contact me so I can understand this backwards logic.

A young kid had an issue with getting charged for a withdrawal. It was only a $5 fee, but it was important to him. I saw them spend an inordinate amount of time trying to justify it, and tell him he will be paying it, and they won’t waive it.
Scotia bank made 2,300+ million in profit last quarter. More than $30mln per business day.

Get it together.
