Disaster of an institution and branch. Can never get through an advisor even with booked appointments. The customer care centre is a joke. They cannot proceed with any transactions and will make you call your home branch advisor - who never bothers to respond.
Multiple complaints often fall on deaf ears. Save yourself the hassle and be better off elsewhere.

My family and I have been customers of the Scotia Bank for over 20 years.

This branch has some days where they are open later then 5pm. Some branches close 4pm during the week.

Lately there seems to be a shortage of bank tellers so there can be a long line to speak with a bank teller.

Horrible customer service for our mortgage. Poor communication, looking to put the most interest possible in their back pockets and no regard for helping customers reach financial goals. Bottom line, do not sign a mortgage with Scotiabank, worst terms of all the major banks, talk to any mortgage broker they will confirm this.

I can't tell what bank is worse, Scotia or TD. Bizzare policy changes cause service to be slow and unhelpful. Scotia is really trying to beat TD and CIBC as Canada's worst bank. I recommend RBC or BMO instead.

The staff here in this particular location has way more time to chit chat and have fun rather assisting the clients. Terrible experience.
They need to understand the value of time.

I feel that the corporate echelon at Bank of Novia Scotia are negligent in relation to customer relations. They provide little or no competence in customer service. The training of their staff is minima. Most front line staff are not knowledgeable of questions asked by customers. I have had 4 different answers about serious question around transfer of monies. The Bank locations have few staff also. They might be trying but head office does not care. It's like a production line. No people skill or care. Their investment advisors are poorly trained as well. I can't say however customers have complained about this in a line up. Is our monies even growing there or is it just growing for the BNS? Shameful service.

Teller refused to accept cash payment for my wife's visa statement. Saying visa holder must be present in order to pay visa statement even it is cash payment. After a few minutes of unnecessary argument, she did accept payment.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. I visited the. Branch for 3 times in total for the same reason and the front staff is ok. BUT there is a women that sits just behind the reception area. What the hell is your deal? This women is the sole reason i had come back each time and then i went to other branch at Carlingwood and those people took 5 minutes to resolve everything.
PLEASE DO BETTER.

Went there yesterday to get a draft from my account.
First of all had to wait alot before my turn.
Then the lady teller was so rude and was giving very weird expressions to every request or question I made to her.
Even when I asked for a copy of the change I made in my account, she made face.

Really bad experience, would never go in this branch again.

My husband and I had a great experience with Ankita. She was very kind and helpful. She solved our problem easily and she was prompt, she found the best solution and gave us all the information that we needed! I would definitely recommend her!

Not sure why there are soo many negative comments cause my experience with this branch has always been exceptional. If you are nice to the employess and tell them your problem they usually go above and beyond to fx the issue! Walked in today regarding an issue with activating my CC they took help from the manager and fixed it for me in no time. Will always be my go to branch.
P.s: Be nice and patient

Lazy staff with negligible knowledge.
Merivale branch's cabin staff including management focus more on chit chatting with one another instead of resolving customers issues.
Wasted half an hour just to get an account summary and past 6 months statements on a official letter head.
Asked 2 staff members and both said we don't give past 6 months statements and said if you have a printer then printer them at home.
Statements showing on online banking wasn't updated from last month. That's why I went in person to get the hard copy.

Others branches provide account summary along with past months transactions on letter head but MERIVALE team members are unaware of numerous things happening within Scotia organization.

Most of the employees needs couple of education sessions for better customer service.

Suggestions- From the manager of STITTSVILLE branch.

Few days back, I went to Stittsville branch and over there only 3 staff members including branch manager offered great service to 15-20 customers within an half an hour.
But here at Merivale, 10-15 employees are unable to serve 5-6 customers in half an hour.

Poor management and non serious work environment.

I literally go here every other 2 weeks and it's always a 15min wait because they only have 2 to 3 people working. You'd think with a growing line you'd have more people ready to serve

Suffered unfair treatment, I'm here to do the same business last month, today can't successful operation, the bank clerk name “Ata “ A tall thin man who looked malnourished spite use various ways and with what he called a bank regulations, I told him that you can check my record for success, and then let him give me explain why this is not allowed, but met with his refusal. You wested my time.and you know you can do it. You're a piece of garbage.

Worse service. They don't know what's going on in bank. They charged me for balance letter and said it had started few months ago and cannot send on email, but 20 days before I got same letter free on my email. This letter is free in other branches, I visited before.

Stay away from financial advisor Alexander Kudo. He does not answer his phone or return calls if you leave voicemails. I tried emailing him as well and zero response. In all, I had to make 3 different trips to this branch because of 2 errors on his part, and his lack of communication with his clients. Horrible service that almost made me switch banks.

I came on Thursday night at 5 and waited in line for about 20 minutes to see a teller. There were only 2-3 working at a time. I was served adequately when it was my turn though.

Beware of this location if you are seeking small business services.response times for specfic inquiries can take 2+ weeks, and they do not make sure staff are available to honour booked appointments

I have never had any issue with this branch until the past weekend - I was extremely unpleased. I have to agree with some of the previous comments regarding some inexperienced and unhelpful tellers at this branch. I was there over the weekend to get a money order. The first address I provided did not work. I found two other addresses from the official website of the organization to which the money order is supposed to be payable to. But the teller just REFUSED to try the new addresses provided. She requested me to call the organization but it was weekend and it’s closed. At the end, the teller told me to return on another day to get the money order. Why didn’t the teller even bother to try the second or the third address? Why couldn’t she consult her senior colleague? I have a tight weekday schedule and I can’t possibly make it to any scotiabank branch before 5 pm on a weekday. Now I still don’t have my money order and things just get delayed for stupid reasons!

Horrible automated phone menu, all I wanted eas to ask a question about my card renewal, after answering all the question, the automatic phone sent me to the national service support and I had to wait 15 minutes, absolutely useless.

If there was a minus scale they would be -100. Not at all pleased with service or tellers. Been a Scotia bank customer for 43 years, today almost changed banks. Teller and teller supervisor don't know how to read the account information. Were going to put a hold on a cheque because they couldn't recognize it? Yet been cashing same cheque since August. Said my daily cashback was 100, wrong again. Completely rude when i corrected them. Will never go back, Avoid this branch!

Horrendous wait times, useless customer service and if I had a million dollars this would be the last place I'd put it.why? Because rich people hate inefficiency. Don't waste your time and money go to an efficient bank that will give you the help you deserve.

I got a Scotiabank GM VISA card when I purchased my new vehicle. Because I do not bank with Scotiabank, my card was shipped to this location for me to complete my profile. It has been almost 2 months since the bank received my card. They refuse to give it to me, let me complete my profile or let me speak to anyone (in person or over the phone). To top it off - I'm a GM employee who is meant to be promoting the GM VISA cards. Very poor customer service.
