Worst banking experience I had. Some staff there lacks proper training, and/or just doesn’t care to do their job. Had a huge runaround with this branch just to get a family member’s death cert submitted.

I was having couple of issues with my cc and cheque in account, the teller and the FA assisted me calmly and made sure to find solutions to resolve the problems I was having. I will definitely go back to this location.

This branch is probably the worst branch of the Scotiabank in Canada. I have never had a successful visit with them. Scotiabank is a reasonably good bank but the manager of this branch has failed to have professional, caring or even knowledgeable staff.

I like Scotiabank overall with 8 years of great experience, but this particular branch at Yonge/Hillcrest is something.
I call it "always NO branch". I really never received that many "no"-answers as I did there in a few months.
1) Configure a recurring payment? Of course no, open an app and do it yourself
2) Wanna see an adviser earlier due to urgency? Surely no.
3) You came to create a corporation with a foreign director? Mr. Poya Rad will surely tell you no and politely explain to you that even if Tesla comes to open a corporate account at Scotia, Mr. Elon Musk will still be required to go to Service Ontario to make a domestic photo id in order for Scotia to be able to create a profile for Mr Musk. Otherwise won't work.

Maybe branches north of Sheppard don't have same client care standards as Toronto downtown, but I will definitely try to avoid this branch due to risk of failing even a simple procedure with a hard "no" as a reply to me.

I had an appointment today with Samar Nazari. She is the only professional, knowledgeable and amazing advisor that I have had so far at the Scotiabank.

I refered to one of the advisors by a friend, so I expected to recieve a good service. I am new in countery so obviously I did not know that much, but I did not get good discripation. The resean that I chose scotia was their offer for new client. I tried my best to do things in a way to be eligiable for the welcome gift. After while I notice my autopayment shows as purchase, I contact the advisor he never answer his phone and the message box always was full, I contact the call center, they said it should not be any problem, after several calls, one of them told me you should put it on your account not debit card. I visit the branch, the adviser said you should know that? And most crazy thing, he said find a job, you will earn more!? He said however wait maybe later we can fix it, now after 6 months and several unanswered email and never answering his phone, he said you are not eligible!

Had a a poor experience with Scotiabank as an organization turn into a terrible experience at the branch level as well - poor customer service and understanding of their own promotions, offers, etc. I received no help from their customer service line and was forced to go into their branch.

Little did I know how unhelpful this would be but after reading some of these reviews I understand a bit better that this is not uncommon with this branch.

I explained my situation with a teller and expressly mentioned that I spoke to someone on their customer service line who was unhelpful. The only thing I was told was that their help line was the only source that would be able to help me. Useless.

Update: Received a call from Maggie at this branch who helped me settle this. While it did not make up for the branch experience, I appreciate the follow through.

Very rude employee with zero competence. The Manager Mr. Carlos has never has customers services course in his whole life, rude and unprofessional. Throughout my time there I had so many losses due tonployee incompetence and mistakes. This is not only my experience but so many other people I know. I highly recommend you to change this bank as today was my last straw with them. The mortgage employee Yagi gave me appointment and then didn't come just tell me that it was tomorrow, however, I had a written confirmation it is today, once presented with it she changed her narrative saying it's wrong place. After all that Carlos wants me to trust this person to arrange another meeting with her. What? Really? How could I trust her with my business?
I can never trust this bank, taking my business out.

Never use ATM machines at this branch, especially never dopisit there because your money will get stuck at those machines and no one answers you properly and you should wait along time to receive help.

It baffles me AMIR is still working for Scotia Bank. Every time I've had the "pleasure" of dealing with him, he comes across as generally untrustworthy and slow on the mental draw. Numerous times I've witnessed him pawn his work off on younger and new employees. He lacks common sense and basic respect (unless you have alot of money in your account!) The other employees such as the managers and young women have been the saving grace of this branch. They are always cordial, respectful and empathetic. Mr. Amir could learn a
thing or two from his peers.

Be cautious when making deposits or withdrawing at this location. Got a feeling I almost got robbed today. Started when a man asked me for "some of that" while gesturing at my cash after the ABM rejected my money deposit AGAIN. Never with any explanation. Went inside the bank and explain my situation to the greeter, dude follows me in. But you know, I am not a Scotiabank client, so there's nothing they can do to help. The suspect stalls near the exit and I'm inside texting a friend to come because I've been marked and I'm stuck with cash. Never felt so unsafe while inside a bank.

My friend who is an international student and who has just arrived in Canada could not open a Scotia Bank account because. She does not have a permanent address. This is normal! She has just arrived! To rent accommodation you need a Canadian bank account. Crazy. I am also an immigrant and customer at Scotia Bank in Quebec. I was at the hotel when I opened my account without any problem. Suddenly, she went to TD Bank and there, they opened an account for her without any problem. It's not scotia bank's fault, it's this branch that doesn't seem to have a lot of new immigrants as clients. You just lost a client. I had told her how is bank was great for new immigrants. Merci.

My biggest mistake of opening account with Scotiabank. I visited this branch on the 12th of June (2021) to deposit money. Neglecting the customer, racist comments to the customer, most of worker specifically the manager (maybe assistance manager) with brutal and rude facial expressions. The one whom giving the salary is not the CEO of Scotiabank, it is the customer you serve everyday. Unless they change the service, DO NOT use this branch. You'll 1000000% regret.

Best customer service ever. Mr. Nasser Jarrodi at the Yonge and Sheppard branch and he always goes out of his way to ensure all my needs have been met. He is simply the best and I have never met a more caring and helpful person like him before.

I have been going to this branch for over 20 years. Knowledgeable and friendly people. Good customer service. Highly recommends Kathy kim to be your finacial rep. She takes time explaining everything and making sure you are comfortable with the decision. Great experience most of the time!

Terrible location obviously because of covid19 6 feet apart is necessary.
Upon enter this 5075 Yonge street scotia bank I was greet with I need to be 6 feet from the other person however there were two groups of 3 people gather closer than 6 feet but I was told to move back. When ask why not the group in front of me I was told they know each just because they are talking together. Later a gentleman came in and stood less than 6 feet behind me no one said anything to him doesn’t make sense. What make sense is I’m not white, Asian or Indian.

Absolutely horrendous service experienced at this branch. I was referred by my professional program to bank with scotiabank as a professional student in a health discipline. I have never had an experience working with such a disorganized and incompetent bank. They will make mistakes on your account and expect you to deal with the stress of having to fix them on your own. I have had to literally chase down advisors to look over this issue for me. I do not trust scotiabank with my finances and neither should anyone else. I will never be banking with scotiabank after my current contract ends. Take my word, and do not put yourself in the same situation I had to endure.

This bank is absolutely awful! Carlos Soeiro and Joanne Van Dalen specifically! They treated me like a criminal because I had a lot of money in my account and I wanted some of it in cash. They forcibly closed my accounts and credit cards and mutual funds. I had just sold my house but for some reason they were suspicious of me. Will be going to the media about this. Filed a major complaint with Scotiabank but their Ombudsman works directly for Scotiabank which is a conflict of interest. Awful Awful bank

All these people mentioned that this is "the worst branch" - interestingly, it is not, as so many other branches have terrible ratings like this one. But yes this one is quite bad, sometimes you do not know if it should be attributed to the branch employees being confused about their bank's processes + being bad at communication (returning emails in a timely fashion that doesn't drag on your banking issue/application for MONTHS), or if it's about the infrastructure of the Scotia banking processes that take months/endless weeks, when at other banks around the world, such simple things should take within a week at most. But I agree with the "bad customer service" + staff members ignoring people who are waiting for appointments, or to be seen.

Worst Branch of Scotiabank. I had to go three times there just to preauthorize my bill. And its not the first time they messed up thing. On my house closing date They gave me Demand Draft without singing it and I had to run here and there to clean up their mess. I have tried so many times to let go of things they did in past and visiting this branch again but unfortunately every time I end up coming out frustrated. Won’t be visiting this location ever.

Literally impossible to get in touch with anyone at this branch or at the Scotia customer service line in general. I received a call about my mortgage renewal from an employee at this branch and they spoke so fast and left a very unprofessional voicemail. I couldn't make out what their name was or the callback number. Scotia makes it extremely frustrating for customers to carry out any kind of transaction or even get basic information through online or phone channels with their constant redirects and unreasonable wait times. Great job in creating a horrible customer experience Scotia. There has to be a better way for people to do their banking.

Super bad customer service.
Financial advisor didn’t explained the promotion appropriately, and never reply the email.
The Assistant manager attitude was so bad, and didn’t solve the problem well.
Never back to this terrible branch. And consider switch to other financial institution

I don't understand how you have 2 ATMs and one is out of order and the other can't make simple deposits because of "technical difficulties" seems to be the trend with most Scotiabank branches!

This branch does not give you useful information. The manager named Saman was rude, unprofessional and gave a shady quotation, when I asked whether that charge is the policy of Scotia, she could not answer and said they charged because it would take time to do what I need. Sorry Scotia, I went to TD, same request it took them 5min. I did have to wait 30mins at Scotia with a bad service. Switch to TD!

One teller couldn't get my cheque to go through, kept saying the machine won't accept it. I asked if there was a manager that could resolve this but she kept saying there was nothing they could do, seemed content to just let me leave without depositing. I told her this will mess up my deposit so finally she got the attention of another staff member who just entered the cheque manually. Gee, imagine that! All you had to do was ask for help. Whatever happened to customer service?

This particular branch of Scotiabank is absolute disaster. I have been here a number of times and every time I’ve had to go somewhere else. Almost any other branch of a Scotia Bank I visited, has been diligent and professional. Today I had to spend 29 minutes at a teller, to withdraw small amount of money and they couldn’t do it. I had my bank card, ID, verified signature. It is unfortunate because on the whole I am satisfied with the overall service of Scotia Bank. I am pretty sure from the number of visits that I’m not the only one with this feedback. I will write to the management to reflect this feedback.

Great service and very knowledgeable staff. I got a financial manager named Hamza for my mortgage and he ensured I had a wonderful experience. The deal closed without a hitch. This was the biggest decision of my life and I couldn't have been happier. Thanks Hamza and Scotiabank.

This branch is ok for daily basic bank operations but if you need any information do not come here, go somewhere else or call customer service. This branch always has provided me wrong information when I came here.
