Sea King Seafood Restaurant

Came with family on boxing day and it was busy.

Positives: got sat down quickly and order taken quickly. Staff generally responsive but clearly very busy

Negatives: They had no system of tracking orders to table. It seemed like the staff just picked up whatever was available in the kitchen to fulfill the order. As a result, multiple dishes came out cold / underheated / not fresh tasting. We ordered two teas but when we requested hot water we were told they were out of tea pots. We asked for a glass of hot water and it took multiple tries to get what we wanted. Clearly, place was busy and their priority was turning over tables quickly rather than food quality and service delivery today.

This place is super authentic, and the food 8s amazingly good. Recommend that you make a visit as a multi trip deal and every time step out of your comfort zone and try spewing you have never had from the menu. You will be wowed and amazed. Place has awesome le semi and private rooms too for gpups.

Quality changes and quantity changes too, it's more less for 2 ppl and more expensive is not worth it

A true hidden jem! One of the best chinese food restaurants in town. Quality of food is excellent. Service is friendly and helpful - waitresses very knowledgeable of menu. Tables are perfectly functional for families and sharing. Separate dining spaces available for large groups. Get the seafood fried rice!

Delicious dimsum! Service was quick and prices were reasonable, and as an added bonus, there was a big screen tv at the entrance, so I was able to catch thebend of the World Cup game

My family and i have been dining at this establishment for over a decade. One of the best places in ottawa for authentic chinese-cantonese food. Service is relatively fast and food is great

Really good dim sum, including some dishes I have not eaten before. There was a line up to get in on the weekend - which is always a good sign! After a 15 minute wait, we enjoyed our meal and plan to go back the next time we are in the mood for dim sum.

I have been coming to this restaurant regularly for the past ten months. About four months ago I noticed a sudden change. Portions were smaller and had less meat. Dishes which were amazing before are now mediocre. I brought this up with the front desk and they shrugged it off saying that nothing had changed when it is very clear that something has.
My last four visits have been disappointing - not just with the food but with the indifference about the lower quality food. 3 stars

Have lunch on Monday. Dim sum is not bad in Ottawa. Ordered 2 dishes of fried beef with noodle. Size is not good enough and beef is not fresh enough. Disappointed

Excellent dim sum. I would compare them to the best dim sum restaurants in Vancouver, San Francisco, Sydney Australia or Hong Kong. Great selection on the menu as well. The price is very reasonable. I highly recommend this place.

Food is generally good but CAN be inconsistent at times. Including with respect to the quality. But it’s a can’t go wrong option for canto food in this city

We had family dinner here tonight and all dishes are great. We ordered soup, lobster, fish, veggie, seafood, beef, chicken and yin yang fried rice.etc.

The food is really good - most of the food we ordered was salt and pepper options, very tasty. I also like the option that they have separate rooms, it's very convenient during COVID times or if you come as a group and want privacy.

This restaurant has by far the best soft shell crab in the entire city! I honestly don't know how much the dish costs, but it's worth every cent.

I have had takeout a couple times from here. There’s a 10% off coupon for takeout if you order from their website.

-Lobster - good but maybe over cooked
-BBQ pork - amazing
-Salt and pepper shrimp - hit or miss. Oil seemed old. Will avoid in the future.
-Soft shell crab - avoid. Seemed burnt and cooked in very old oil.
-black bean clams - black bean sauce tastes like the one from mediocre Chinese restaurants (the one that is thick and sweet). Perhaps the recipe has changed over the years.
-eggplant and deep fried tofu- good!

Will probably return for other dishes.

The dimsum here is just okay. I wouldn't recommend ordering the deep fried squid tentacles because the portion is small and the tentacle size is so tiny, they also way over battered it. Service was good.

This was amazing food. And the service was great. Would definitely reccomend. Especially the shrimp sui mai, spring rolls and garlic spare rib.

This is my whole family’s go to spot for Chinese food anytime of the day. They have great dim sum as well. The prices are better than other restaurants and the food is delicious and consistently good!

This dish is 16.5 Canadian dollars. I can’t believe it. I suspect that the merchant treats the customer as a fool! Not to mention the high prices, the dishes are still very unpalatable!

Wow! Seriously thr best Chinese I had since 2015, and before that, 2012. We ordered a cabbage type vegetable that are in season for a few months, S&S pork ribs, fried rice, beef and broccoli and Kung pao chicken. Not greasy or fast food type. My family loved it as well. We will definitely return.

Cantonese cuisine. Good portions. A medium place. The food was pretty good. Notable mention are the soft shell crab and gulou yuk (aka sweet and sour pork) was pretty good.

Only downside to note was that some of the garnishment on the plate were very clear added afterwards and/or raw. (For example the sweet and sour pork had green peppers as garnishment but you could clearly taste the difference between the pork w the sauce vs the veggies)

Didn't try any dessert so I didn't rate it.

Caution for those that have trouble walking stairs because the store is located in the basement.

I would come back again to this store.

My second time @ Seaking!
The first time was a takeout on Christmas eve 2020.
Due to high volumes of takeouts, we did have to wait an unexpected 2 hours for a pickup.
However, the food was still delicious and we looked forward to dining in the future.

Few weeks ago, we finally got to dine in and it was amazing
Our fave was the shrimp rice roll!
Eating at Seaking made me think ‘Now I’m not gonna enjoy eating at other Chinese restaurants as much’ because Seaking up’ed my Chinese food taste bud

All food was very very good, but I would say the fried rice was typical and similar to other Chinese restaurants.

I would dine here again and again!

Last night is the first time we ordered take out from Sea King. All 4 ordered are delicious and good portions. Best is we don't feel thirsty after. Will definitely order again and try more dishes.

This place is alright the price is a bit too high for the quality of the food. The setting of the restaurant is not so warming since it use to be an old karaoke bar so it has these weird rooms for more people to sit in. They put too much sauce on their food and the building is not quite as clean as it should be. You can find better simular chinese restaurants for cheaper or the same price with better quality food. I do not recommend this restaurant

The sit down service during 3rd stage was great. They were respectful and courtious. The food was excellent. The food came hot and promptly to our table. We ordered wonton soup. The wontons were great and meaty (not chewy or doughy) and though the broth was simple it was tasty. They were attentive and catered to our request to add pieces of ginger and to bok choy to the soup. The cantonese chow mein was nice and crunchy in the centre.full of meats and vegetables. The Yang chow fried rice was great. Very freshly made. It was all so very good

If you order on ubereats there small size is a rip off. 10 bucks roughly per dish but it is like 1/3 or 1/4 of normal portions of meat from normal chinese restaurants.

I went their for dimsum this morning with the family, food was pretty good but the service was poor. The last time we went their we thought the service was very slow and mediocre aswell we though we would give it a try again today but it was no better then the first time if not worse. We waited for 40 minutes only receiving 2 orders of our dimsum by the time the rest of the food came we lost our appetite and our other food was getting cold. We also had to ask for water on 3 different occasion before it finally came. The biggest issue we see is, on the floor it's not very organised seemed like the waitresses were in the kitchen more then on the floor as we seen a few other customers getting fusterated aswell. The people that actually dine in to eat seems like they are waiting very long periods of time to get their food as it seems like the restaurant prioritized more on their pickup and delivery orders then the people actually dining in. Unfortunately even with good food we wont be coming again due too long wait times for food and having to constantly remind them for water as they kept telling us one second. (Waitresses were very kind just forgetful I think its more of a management issue and I hope in the future they address these issues and become more organized making people dine in experience more enjoyable.

Love the food here. My family and I often order take out from here. The staff are friendly, the food is good and at a good price. Also, if you order take out, you get 10% off your order.

My family loves coming here! Food and service is always good. It’s a great place to grab good Chinese food without having to go to Chinatown. There’s lots of parking available as well. It’s a hidden gem in Ottawa for sure.

This place might be the closest I'll get to a "Cantonese Style" restaurant that I can approve and settle for in Ottawa.

Coming from a spoiled variety in the GTA, it's been difficult to find an authentic Chinese restaurant in Ottawa that's not "Canadian Style".

Their fried noodle portions are huge, even the takeout container is big! The fish maw & corn soup was definitely on point with my expectations. The BBQ duck was the only let down out of the entire order. It was not only dried out, but a very tiny portion for $11.25 so I ended up tossing out half of it.

I would still come back to try other dishes!

Picked up a huge Dim Sum order this morning for my dad's birthday. Everything was awesome. Ordered online the night before, emailed in the morning to ask if it could be ready a bit early - which it was. It was still too hot to touch when I got home so it was definitely made really fresh. Been a Yangtze (Bronson) man my whole life but this might just be better.

A great Chinese seafood place we've been to several times. They also serve dim sum and have three or four separate room where you can enjoy your meal with only your family/friend. We were 12, so we got a private room.

This place might not be good for people with mobility as you'll have to go down a few flight of stairs as the dining area is at the basement of the building.

My kids like the koi fish and just want to stay a bit longer after meal to look at the fishes.

Typical Cantonese style cuisine in a family style setting. Generous portions, lots of sauce, pretty decently priced, and a good selection of seafood - (listed in Chinese on a whiteboard)

Their bird’s nest is a little different - kinda like a giant fried wonton wrapper instead of the weaved fried taro basket. It’s not as impressive but lighter and tastier. We also love the beef on the sizzling plate.

Restaurant located in basement area, staff is fast and professional, atmosphere is good, a little noisy, chef is mix with China - Cantonese food style and other regions.

Their sweet & sour pork taste really good, I think chef balance the sweetness and sour taste pretty well, I recommend this one if you like it, too.

They provide private room, if you have a small group and wish to be quite, you can ask for that private room. Their dim sum is popular at Chinese community

Hidden gem. I attend this restraunt on an annual basis. Great private rooms available for small gatherings. Amazing Chinese dishes.

Good food, good service
We book a room for our staffs party. The room was well set up, the food was good and the price was reasonable.

The food is okay, but the service is poor. We were there for dim sum today. After 45 minutes, we were told to finish up our meal quickly because they had reserved the table for another group. We were not told about this when we arrived. The waitress was rude. She just threw the bill on our table and walked away.

Very authentic Cantonese dishes. Highly recommended. Service was also very good and waitress were very polite.

We went for dim sum today and we picked out a few things off the carts they were wheeling around. 2 of the plates have turned sour/bad (bbq pork rice noodles and shrimp chives dumplings). Im currently in my 3rd trimester and my husband didnt feel safe eating there anymore. We told them, and the guy was denying it and said things were tasting fine.but other ladies apologized. We still had to pay our bill less the few plates we returned. We saw another table sending some plates back also. I dont think i will be going back based on this experience.

Great food for a really good price. Service is extremely good if you're chinese because everyone there speaks it. Either way it was great experience with good food and great prices

Food and service was bad. I wanted to ask them about their catering and they provided me with such bad service that I turned away.
