I when in for a passport renewal with low expectations. I was surprised.

On the first floor you first meet a security officer who determines if you are in the right place. He later directs you to a window when it's ready for you.

The second person determines if you have all the necessary documentation and that it's filled out correctly. You are then given a wait number.

Directed to the second floor a third officer takes your documentation and directs you to have a seat to wait for your number to be called on a large screen (like at the airport). When your number is displayed the screen identifies which kiosk to go to. This forth person then processes your requirements.

All told it took 65 minutes. My passport arrived at home by courier 10 days later.

Very efficient.

My first experience was okay, but next time I waited 1 hour for nothing because I was misinformed because the personnel in there didn't know much or was inexperienced. I was told two different things by two different people.

Great experience going there twice.went around 3.30 before closing. Was very quick and professional. Staff was very helpful

Reached around 2: 15 pm to apply for SIN. Stood in an extremely slow moving queue till 4pm only to be told that they won't be able to process our applications as it's their closing time now.
Why did they allow us in in the first place then? Around 30 people including me stood in the queue for 1-2 hours. People were so tired that they were sitting on the ground from time to time.
Their management is terrible.
Better to reach very early like around 8 am.

It went very fast without appointment. There were 4-5 people waiting. The stuff was very kind and friendly. I had an excellent service. Thank you

I needed to renew a passport. I understand Covid, but there was a senseless thing that they did: they have you take a number and line up downstairs first, you go to a clerk, show ALL your documents, but this person (who can right then and there process your application) then gives you another number so now you have to go to the big room there and wait again to be called, where you will show all your documents AGAIN, and that person will process it.

Worth zero star if I could give one. I went for a passport renewal on a Monday at 3: 30pm and there was no one in line. I was asked by the security to go home and come back on another day. No valid reason was provided other than: if you don't have to travel within 48 hours, you can't get in. Guess the express service fees are so attempted for them to earn and the taxes we paid are just taken for granted. They asked you to book an appointment and you basically can't see a single one available online any time you try. The security person is so rude and you can never reason with him. Try to plan ahead, and send by mail - it can save you all the time and headache.

Went this morning for my SIN renewal. I was greeted and helped by Iram Azam. He provided a tremendous service. Everything starting from the greeting to engaging in a great conversation while he flawlessly finished the work. Kudos to him!

Very efficient and fast. All staff were really nice. The whole process took me less than 2 hours. You have to make a line in the first floor to check your documents, then they will give you a number and you go to the second floor to hand in your application.
It was a really good experience and the staff were really nice and helpful.

Went there around 11am and left around 12: 45pm.

I came to this place SERVICE CANADA (Scarborough Town Centre), today to apply the passports of my children and I and yes there was a long line about 3 to 4 hours, but if you go early time you will be the first. I was finally Called my number by counter-13 then I got a very best service that I ever got from a lady called NICOLE was so awesome, she handled and finished all the process of my applications with short time. She was kind, respectful, professional, super super super nice. I even met with her branch manager/ supervisor to show my appreciation like how I was satisfy for her service.

I arrived at 7: 30am on a Tuesday morning to renew my passport. I was 12th in line. The desk workers arrived at 8: 30am. It was my turn by 9am. Then I got sent upstairs to submit my application. My turn there came at 9: 20am. I was done by 9: 30am.

I brought my proof of travel, my flight is on Thursday. They said I can come pick up my passport tomorrow (Wednesday) at noon.

I was worried about the long lines because of other reviews but I had a smooth experience.

Horrible service. Where do I even begin, the security (lady) was so rude and disrespectful and started to yell at us for simply asking a question, they lost our passports application and had to reapply, and a lady at the passport office said there could be a hurricane tomorrow that might prevent us from getting our passports (after waiting in line for 10+ hours) AVOID THIS PLACE!

Passed the citizenship test and became a Canadian here. My only complaint is the long pre-test procedure and not knowing whether I passed, but overall it's OK.

Visited this location to get my SIN and boy, the line is long. If you don't want to stand in line for hours, you have to go really early (some people even suggested as early as 6am) or, try setting an appointment. At least the staff are courteous and helpful, it's just that the entire process takes too long. I hope they'll improve very soon.

I had a great experience with them. The staff members are polite and helpful. Since I had booked an appointment, the process took about 30 mins.

If you coinflipped an appointment here and are scared of the 1 star reviews… I had a flawless experience, parking is $2 per hour, staff are really friendly. I went at a really busy time and they handled the volume really well.

If you can make an appointment first, do it, seriously your only option…be patient and wait for help instead of fighting for attention. I talked to 6 people and they were all amazing.

Do your research before you come, bring everything including proof of travel, wait your turn, be polite and you will receive it back.

If you want to get your passport, pull up at 4 am, its the only way, by the time i got out it was 11: 30, bring a chair and snacks, you'll need them!

Waited 4 hours in the cold and was turned away since they close super early. The hours are terrible for anyone who works. Avoid coming here unless absolutely necessary. The lines are massive and barely move. Come super early if you do need to go here since from the back of the line it can take 5-6 hours till you actually see an agent.

The other day I waited in line from 7am to 2pm to apply for a passport, and by the time I got to the front of the line, the lady told me that she cannot process my passport today because she must prioritize people leaving within 48 hours. I wasted 7 hours, in what was probably the hardest wait I've had to do and they want me to come back and do it again! I arrived very early and I think I was 30th in line at first, so I'm shocked that I didn't get processed. I also travel next week, so I'm shocked they didn't find my case to be urgent. The service is horrible, they are understaffed, and downstairs, there's only ever one or two people working. But from 12 - 2pm don't be surprised if only one person is working because of the lunch breaks. What's worse is that people with appointments get to cut in line, so if you're "walking in", you may be there for a while. But the funny thing is that the website and telephone numbers don't work properly, so the appointment process is difficult. I advise you book off the day if you plan on applying in person, and to arrive very early! They also appear to only serve people needing a passport within one week of their trip - so whatever you read on the website about "25 business days" may not be true. If you're lining up early, I suggest you ask the security guard about this when they let you in because it will surely save you some time (the answer may differ depending on demand so it's best to ask). Overall, I had a horrible experience and honestly it's not hard to improve the system this office is using so I don't know why they don't make improvements.

Govt of Canada takes 160$ for a passport
Long lines.restaurants shopping malls all open
But service canada is not the mark allows only 2 people
We are a g7 country how come we are so behind.old people mothers with babies have to wait 4 hours in line ridiculous
To get an appointment have to wait 2 weeks

If you need your passport processed in time you have to wake up early, be there by 5am and you'll probably be in line till like 2pm. Got there at 5: 45am the line was already too long, got the ticket at around 9: 30 then waited in Line for another 1hr to get the upstairs ticket which was around 10: 25 am stayed in Line till I got a seat at 12: 30pm then got served at 1pm. There's only like 2 staffs working so you'll have to be very patient. Good luck everyone

I’d really recommend planning ahead and booking an appointment. Don’t wait last minute to get your passport. Also make sure they photocopy your documents and not send in actual birth certificate etc incase you need to get an emergency passport and need the required documents. They’re super behind and only have like 2 staff working. If you plan on arriving early there, they only let like the first 30 people in (on the day I went at least) and then only emergency 48 hour travel cases. Also, they’re working very hard but they have limited staff so it makes it rly difficult. Be kind to them and maybe bring them a box of doughnuts or something. I brought them timbits and they were super grateful. Also if you plan to get passport renewed, it’s a full day of waiting so bring water and snacks and a book.

Lines are too long in normal days. If you want to get your work done ASAP then try to get there early morning around 5 or 6.

The worst service canada location. Lack of staff and people are lined up minimum of 4 hours or more. It couldn’t get any more worse than this. People came in to line up early before going to work. Some of us were already late for work. There should be a screen and a number given for a line up in that way people can just leave and come back when it’s about their turn instead of just standing in line. My back hurt standing 3hrs in that line. What more for older people that has to suffer being stucked in that stupid line with no organization. PLEASE CHANGE THIS KIND OF SYSTEM. Understaffed can be understandable with the current pandemic but please make the service more efficient and value the peoples time too.

Why bother making an appointment for service online when you get to the location and have to wait 2 hours in line anyways? I had an appointment l at 8: 30 (opening time) and the email says don’t arrive any earlier than 10 minutes before. I get there and the line is out the door. Don’t listen to the emails and you might as well walk in if you need service. Good luck

All the people are very professional and give proper attention and respond to each and everyone who goes there and they don't ask unnecessary questions and paperwork there.
They just ask a simple question and do their work in minutes which will help me get to the point and there all the covid rules are followed properly and the senitizer are placed all over the place.
Here is one problem is there that the lines are very very long here if your appointment is at 2 pm then you should come here at 1: 15 pm only as the lines are long and it took me 1 hour to let through this line and my work is finished in just 10minutes.

Great experience and easily get done with all my work here. The guy who attended me for my SIN number application is so friendly and helpful. The staff has maintained safety measures very carefully which I overwhelmed with especially in this pandemic.

13th November 2020: - I went to ServiceCanada STC branch to renew my SIN number. There was a long queue to enter into the office. All the necessary measures are taken to avoid spread of Covid-19. Very helpful security personnel and the employee in the office are very calm and well mannered. My work was done in few minutes after entering inside. There was a long queue outside but still it was moving fast. So no issues. All in all good experience.

Terrible experience. I came and dropped off only for required documents. But it has been 2 weeks and nothing updated on my EI claim.which usually take up to 5 business. I dont know what did the official staff has done with my papers? So desperated.

Never dealt with anyone as rude, condescending, and unprofessional as the older, bald black man that works there. I left and requested another worker. I will not be spoken to in that manner. He should not be dealing with humans in this manner!

My experience here was much more different than what most people said - I guess I was just lucky. Came here to apply for a new passport an hour early before the SCC opened. The procedure on getting a number and getting served was very fast and straight forward. Once I got to the counter, the person processing my application was very friendly and helpful. Great experience!

As if it's not already inconvenient enough that a government service is only available weekdays from 8-4, but they have 20 counters and only 5 open during lunch time one of those days 5 days.i would imagine most people try to get this done during their lunch break. Wouldn't it make sense that they have 20 counters open during those hours? It's not like they're open weekends or evenings.

After seeing several terrible reviews of this location I was dreading having to go there to get my SIN. However, I got there around 2: 45 on a Thursday afternoon and was walking out with a new SIN at around 3: 20. I appreciated the efficiency, even though staff had to actually leave their cubicles to call out clients’ names to let them know it was their turn—that should really be updated. The staff were all in good spirits from what I saw, and my fellow clients were all being tended to, so I’m sure I wasn’t the only satisfied customer.

I'm appalled, looking at the 2.8 rating (as I write the review) as this place deserves a full 5.
It's simple. You go inside, take a token, wait your turn and somebody calls you out shortly.
The representatives are super helpful, courteous and professional. The amount of time you'll spend there depends on your token number and how crowded the office is, At any given time there are more than 5 cases being handled simultaneously so rest assured the folks usually finish up a case within 5-10 minutes (Depending upon the type of case ofcourse)

Was here on July 31st 2019 around 8am and there were 2 people in line waiting (open at 8: 30am). And by 8: 30 there were about 9 people waiting outside. Almost no line/wait around 9: 30. Went again on August 9th at 9: 30am and almost no line/wait. Suggestion: go early

Unprofessional way of calling clients. One was spelling out names, another was calling names in a way we could not even comprehend. Couldn't they have a numbering system or something. The waiting times were long, but I understand maybe because I came a little later on.however the general feel was very unprofessional and unfriendly. June 2019

The lady at the front counter is very friendly. I noticed their customers could use some manners but I guess all the customers were immigrants and there is an obvious room for improvement for them.

Samantha was lovely. One thing i have to mention is that counter ataff should be speaking much slowly. Each persons details are soo sensitive so keep the voices down while asking details from customers. While sitting i could hear all the conversation.

I went to the Passport office in 2nd floor by 10AM. By the time I finished passport renewal process it was 11.30AM. Place is nice but very crowded. Staff is very helping and straight to the point.
