Shanghai Alley Gourmet

Husband and I went for dinner and split dumplings, Shanghai noodles and spring rolls. Everything was delicious and fresh. The service was excellent. Everyone was super friendly and went above and beyond. We will definitely be back.

The staff is so friendly, the food was very good. This time around I had dumplings. Great location downtown Oakville right on lakeshore.

Perfect little location close to the Oakville square, should you be going there to watch some
live jazz performances.

Truly appreciate that there’s no MSG in their food!

I found their ‘Alley Soup’ the best, most unique offer on the menu. Not your regular wonton soup, the broth is not salty and they added some seaweed & porK. Our table also loved their fresh real watermelon drinks (no sugar added).

We also ordered curry lamb bao, chicken bao, chicken & mushroom dumplings, curry noodles, tofu and veggies plate, chicken & corn soup (not pictured).
What a lovely place in Oakville ~ would definitely recommend to anyone coming to the area!

Nice jazz music playing in the background while we enjoyed their interesting and delicious cocktails. The food is of extreme high quality. Definitely coming back!

Amazing service and even better food. I was walking around downtown Oakville and decided to stop at Shanghai Alley for lunch. We ordered the shrimp and chicken dumplings, fried rice and sweet and sour chicken. I asked for chili oil and was pleased to find out they make a lot of their food and sauces fresh in house. I can't wait to go back to try their Shanghai noodles. Thank you so much, will definitely be back soon!

Authentic Chinese food, I really recommend and I’ll come back for sure. The chef stopped by and we had a excellent chat Chinese food.

I had the shredded pork soup with fermented vegetables and it might be the best soup I’ve ever eaten, and that is not an exaggeration.
On top of that the service was absolutely wonderful and the atmosphere was cozy and warm.
I live in Hamilton but any time I am in Oakville I will be eating here!

The bok choy pork rice is REALLY nostalgia! Great dishes! Only complaint I have is the portion of scallion noodles, its way too little for that price. Everything else are amazing!

This place is fabulous! I ordered the crispy pork belly and the hand made shanghai noodles with shrimp and pork. Talk about an explosion of flavour in your mouth! The best Asian food we’ve tasted thus far. Customer service was also excellent. Will definitely be returning to this restaurant in the future. Don’t even think about going, just go! Your taste buds will thank you.

Wonderful experience. Tried the bao bun, spring rolls, dumplings, Szechuan shrimp and Shanghai noodles. All were excellent and delicious. Will certainly return to try new menu items

I would not even rate this place. Not sure about other reviews. Horrible food, oily, no taste and no pride in preparation and presentation. One dish ordered was shrimp, it has only 9 shrimps, more than 20 one inch long and round chilli peppers and oil was everywhere. Fried rice was not cooked properly and horrible. Have eaten lots of authentic Chinese restaurants in GTA but would not even give a star.

Cute little restaurant, buns and dumplings were great. My boyfriend and I ordered Shanghai noodles with chicken which took awhile to come out, when we got our noodles they had shrimp in it instead of chicken. So we notified the staff and asked if could get our correct dish, it took almost 40 mins to get our correct dish. Quite irritated at this point we also noticed some of the chicken was cooked all the way, my guess is they rushed it to get it out to us asap but this is chicken… I wasn’t going to send it back again and wait another 40 for another dish so we moved all the chicken to the side and just ate the noodles. Quite disappointing in the end, but will most likely only come back for the dumplings/buns

Charming little Chinese restaurant in downtown Oakville. Cozy atmosphere with very attentive and polite staff. A good selection of delicious and freshly made Shanghainese-style cuisine. I especially enjoyed the curry lamb bao and corn& chicken soup. Will be back for more good food soon! A+

Second time to go there…! Food presentation were beautiful, (tasted AMAZING obviously) all the servers were sooo friendly…Loved the cozy atmosphere…Also, The Live Music Performance of Guzheng instrument by Seven made our night more beautiful…would recommend 120%!

What started as a curiosity looking at the beautiful dishes people were enjoying on the patio, ended up in multiple visits that always start with fresh watermelon juice and Mango coconut Sago drinks. Today I was in the mood for something a little bit spicy so ordered the recommended Kung pao chicken over steamed rice; when I heard they had freshly hand crafted Bao, well you just know we had to have some - it takes a special magic to create a crispy bottom and moist tasty top. I’m so thankful you’re here in our beautiful Oakville, the portions are generous, your staff is always on their game and it’s nice to come back to a place where they know you by your name.

Handmade noodles in scallion oil.simple, sublime, absolutely delicious. I will go back just for these noodles alone! (Although there is so much more that's excellent too!)

Wow! Delicious dumplings and noodles, all made fresh. Everything was served piping hot. We sat inside and the decor is very nice, they even had fresh flowers on every table. Can’t wait to come back.

Decided to stop here for lunch. Ordered the scallion pancakes, pork bao buns, scallion noodles, salt & pepper chicken wings and Shanghai cabbage.

First and foremost: the service is welcoming, friendly and helpful with the menu. They added to the dining experience.

Each dish was better than the next. The pancakes were crispy and flaky. The pork bao buns were light, fluffy and the pork filling had a great subtle Chinese five spice with pieces of pork belly. The noodles for the scallion noodles were perfectly al dente and the scallion oil was subtle but flavourful. The wings were cooked to perfection, crispy and well- seasoned.

The surprise star of the meal was the Shanghai cabbage, a thick slice of cabbage that is fried to crisp up the edges and finished in the oven with homemade yellow curry. It comes to the table on a platter served on top of the yellow curry sauce and sprinkled with roasted peanuts. It was utterly AWESOME, with the cabbage braised to perfection, harmoniously paired with the yellow curry sauce. For those who are vegetarians, this is a great substitute to meat dishes and equally filling. We will definitely return for this dish alone.

Shanghai Alley would be great for a date night meal or family style lunch/dinner. The staff is super helpful and the food is simply AWESOME. We will definitely be returning to Shanghai Alley.

Had a great first experience! Charlie was very kind, and went above and beyond to serve me and my friend. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves Chinese cuisine!
