Shapiro Halpern Criminal Law & Traffic Tickets

I engaged Shapiro to handle a speeding ticket, expecting expertise and representation to help me fight the charges. My experience has been incredibly disappointing. Without consulting me, Kaitlyn entered a guilty plea on my behalf, a decision I never authorized. I had hired them to defend my case, not to concede guilt without my consent. I expected better professionalism. Overall, I would not trust them. I would caution others to thoroughly discuss and clarify expectations before choosing this firm.

I engaged this service to help me with a traffic ticket. The reviews were mixed but I decided to go with them anyway.

I was very disappointed with my experience. At the beginning they took my info as normal and I thought all was going well. Prior to my last court date I get an email from Kaitlyn saying that she was able to get my fine lowered and I can expect to pay about 800. She asked if I was ok to accept this result. I asked her to still try and get more as the fine was hefty but to accept the deal if that was the best that could be done.

My court date came and passed. No word from Kaitlyn or anyone else at the firm. I then got a letter in the mail saying I was convicted at the original speed and my fine was 600 more than originally quoted. When I emailed Kaitlyn there was no call back. I decided to call and to my surprise the call was answered. Kaitlyn was unable to give me proper details on my case as someone else (elke maybe?) had gone instead. There was zero follow up after getting this poor result. All I got from Kaitlyn was “my bad”. I could have lost my licence due to fines I didn’t know I was convicted for!

I also sent an email for Joshua to call me and to date he has yet to respond. He was available when pricing took place.

I strongly suggest you use another service. I case they say I was never a client I have all of the relevant emails to share. Don’t use this service.

I could not have asked for a better outcome! I came in with a stunt driving ticket and a speeding ticket and they got them both dropped. It was a completely stress free experience. They don’t require much if any participation from you at all. They’re prices are also very reasonable, I did a lot of comparing and contrasting for representation before choosing Shapiro and their quote was by far the most attractive. Would 10/10 recommend.

This was by far the best LawFirm I have ever used ever! I got a speeding ticket couple of months ago and I wanted a good law firm to help me contest the ticket. After doing my research and based on the online reviews, I reached out to Joshua at Shapiro Halpern Law. After my first court hearing, I learned from the paralegal that she was only able to bring down 4 demerits points to 2 demerit points + an increase on the original fine. I wish she would have called me before the hearing date to discuss what happened on the day I got the ticket and the circumstances. The only option is a webform and you can only write as much.
This was my first ever ticket and I believe after the whole experience, I should have represented myself. Shaving off 2 demerit points with an increase in the fine is something I’d have managed contesting the ticket on my own. I didn’t see value of hiring a law firm and paying them hundreds of dollars.

Hi I wanna thank both Joshua and Elke for helping me in withdrawing my speeding from Halton court. These guys are very professional in handling traffic offences. Highly recommended.

Terrible service, zero client care. Calling to enquire about my ticket was like committing a mortal sin. Gerald actually yelled at me over the phone. Had this been in person I would have to resist the urge to slap him. What a rude individual. In the end my ticket contained a fatal flaw and he managed to get my ticket down to 2 points from 3 and a huge bill on top of it. I would not recommend Shapiro as he is rude and condescending and claims to be a lawyer when he is not. He is a paralegal and he is very rude. I should have done more research. I do not recommend. He is likely going to respond to this stating that he does not know who it is as I am reviewing under a anonymous name but the review is too real.

I had questions regarding an early resolution meeting for speeding. Prior to this, my record was clean. I spoke with Josh and he provided me excellent advice and ensured me that I wouldn't require his services unless I wasn't comfortable with what the prosecutor told me. I appreciated his honesty! I got a speeding ticket when I was going 73 on a 50. I was facing 3 demerit points and also a fine of $120. Not only did Joshua get rid of the ticket for me but also got rid of the 3 demerit points. I'm so glad I met him and spoke to him. On a side note, his communication skills are outstanding. He is extremely well spoken and always answers calls and messages in a timely manner.
