Went here looking at the reviews. But truly disappointed. The shawarma was cold and dry. There were hardly any people but we had to wait for long to get our order.
Got a take-out sandwich and drove it 35min back to the west end. So good that we went back the next night! Both times, the food held up really well, even despite the long commute.
The falafel is so delicious - it has a great flavour and texture, and isn't dry and pasty like many other shawarma places. Don't skip the small side tabbouleh - it's a generous serving of salad ft.fresh and abundant parsley, and tart and bright flavours from the lemon and ground sumac. Lovely people making lovely food. They have a few tables for dine-in. Parking lot is stressful, but you want that shawarma, right?
I recently stumbled upon Shawarma Empire and it turned out to be a hidden gem! This unassuming spot serves up incredibly tasty pitas filled with roasted meat and a variety of mouthwatering Middle Eastern dishes. The flavors are simply amazing, and the staff is super friendly and welcoming. Whether you dine in or get takeout, the service is quick and efficient. If you're in the mood for a satisfying and delicious meal, I highly recommend giving Shawarma Empire a try.
My most favourite place for shawarma. Definitely a must try. I love their falafel and chicken shawarma. And you can easily eat 2 if you re hungry. Every thing is under $15. Plates are about $15 and some come with fries. I prefer sandwiches and you can add extra sauce or make it hot
Decent food for the price. Nice flavor for both beef and chicken. Slightly on a dry side. I asked for extra garlic and didn't get it. Might come by again
Unfortunately the shawarma both the chicken and the beef is not like before This place before had the best shawarma in town but not any more the chicken shawarma is so dry and over cooked. I’m sad I hope the do something about it
Awful shawarma. I read a post on Instagram highly recommending this place and was so disappointed after trying the chicken shawarma. I feel bad for some of you who think this is one of the best shawarma spots. Not only was there no flavour but they were the tiniest shawarmas. I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised when it was 2 for $12.99.
Parking is a hassle during the busy period and many customers tend to leave because of it. The service is very slow when the owner is not present even though the place has ample staff - this is because the way orders are taken and processed. The prices have also skyrocketed. The kitchen needs a visit from the city official and looks a mess. The arabic sweets trays need to be covered on the counter. I have been a loyal customer from the day it was opened and knew the uncle of the owner who had a similar joint on Bloor street decades ago. Overall, the SHAWARMA here is good and my kids are addicted to the food here.
There is a reason why this place is rated so high and has been in the area for more than a decade. It is because they ACTUALLY FILL the sandwich with fresh and delicious shawarma meat! Most shawarma places are so cheap when it comes to adding meat in the shawarma sandwich or plate and often, customers end up paying to eat bread and veggies only which drives people and business away. THANK YOU Shawarma Empire for doing a great job and giving the people what they pay for. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
Had a chicken Shawarma to go and it was nothing special. The Shawarma itself was reasonable but the salads were tired and boring. The best tasting thing was the rice, which was actually a mejadara (rice with lentil and fried onion). I'd give it a 3.5, but as it isn't an option and doesn't deserve 4, they get a 3.
Next level shawarma here, parking lot is a bit cramped and the shop is quite small but they crank out the delicious food like a well oiled machine. Worth the trip
I had the beef shwarma and baklava. They both tasted fresh and tasty. The shwarma tastes different than other places and does not use the traditional pita wrap; its more of a thicker pocket sandwich pita. Overall one of the best shwarmas I've had.
Small little hidden gem.their food is amazing. I'm hooked on their shawarma and falafel.but the only problem is they need to clean their counter in between customers. 3 people making sandwiches in between each others and everyone is dropping stuff everywhere.also now with covid they really need to limit the # of people that wait inside.for a small little place the few times I went its full of people and not enough spacing in between them so its not so safe
My favourite shawarma place in the city. The food is fresh and delicious. You can't go wrong with the chicken shawarma sandwiches, chicken shawarma plate, falafel or tabouleh salad.
Different from all the other shawarma spots! But this hits the spot every time! Get a couple of their chicken or beef sandwiches, you won't be disappointed, at times this place is lined up out the door but it's worth the wait!
Tried both the beef and chicken shawarma pita sandwichs. Bread was amazing and meat was juicy and tender. Unfortunately the authentic shawarma taste was a miss for me. Also, they do not accept credit cards which was a bit inconvenient. Would not consider for my next shawarma craving.
Currently the Best of the Best in the Middle Eastern strip. I travel all the way from Etobicoke to get their shawarma. Forget those institutional multi chains. This place is the real deal. Spicy really not too spicy, so ask for extra spicy if you are so inclined. Been visiting this area for twenty five years and this is currently my go to.
We've been going to Shawarma Empire since the year it opened. We would go at least once a month, but hadn't been in a few months. What a surprise! They're more expensive, which isn't a big deal, but they are also very different in composition and taste. Their amazing hot sauce, is no longer amazing. They're chicken Shawarma was packed with ingredients that tasted as if they were prepared the day before and the chicken was cold. Makes me wonder if it's under new management. Seriously disappointed.
We were so excited to try this place but unfortunately we didnt get what all the hype was about. The shawarma sandwich was dry and the portions of the plate were small! The plate was mostly salad, the chicken was dry and the rice lentils mix was subpar. The staff was very friendly and they were all following covid protocols which we appreciated.
Have gone here for a few years now. Food is consistently excellent, especially the chicken shawarma sandwiches and the falafel. And the staff are friendly and efficient.
Wonderful customer service at this hole in the wall place. It's busy at times, which tells you that people are willing to come back and back! Shawarma is medium sized but good for the price. Most importantly the people working there are friendly and quick/good at what they do.
Best shawarma in town. The pita bread used is like a pocket and all ingredients are layered in so you get all the deliciousness in every bite. Amazing homemade hot sauce. Staff are incredible and how they remember all the orders without making errors is amazing. Highly recommended!
This place has always been my go-to. It's still pretty solid, but ever since the change in ownership it has been far less consistent for me, and I swear they switched up the pita because it's never nearly as fresh and fluffy as it used to be.
I can say it is absolutely an Authentic schwarma. More meat and better taste than most of the schwarma places. Customer service is very good and quick.
Shawarma Empire is a little gem for sure. Don't be fooled by the exterior because this really is the best shawarma in Toronto! The chicken and the flavours of the sauces is like heaven for your taste buds! I am always happy with the service as well. I tell all my friends and family about this place and how amazing it is!
I've been coming to this hole in the wall for a couple years. Sharwarma is above average. 3 star. Service is 1 star for frakking slow service. It never improves. Last visit I waited 10 mins for someone to take my order and it wasn't that busy. There are 3 to 4 people behind the counter. But they seemed busy prepping instead of taking orders. Cut the meat and place it near the workers. All the movement behind the counter is not efficient. Placing orders and payment is never a smooth continuous transaction. Seating is limited and tables are never cleaned.
Ordered a chicken shawarma wrap. Pretty tasty wrap. Hot sauce is not hot at all and would highly recommend that you get it.it adds a significant amount of flavour to the shawarma.without it jist another simple shawarma wrap.its a pretty small wrap so not filling enough if you are super hungry. Price is reasonable for what it is. The service was slow but the customer service was good so it all evens out. They do not take credit card and the sitting area is reasonable.
Amazing shawarma.i live in Chicago and i have had shawarma in the past but this is by far is the best one i have had. Staff are hard workers and very friendly
Best shawarma in GTA so far. I liked how they put meat at bottom and then vegetables and then meat again. This way you are not just eating meat or vegetables instead it's all mixed which brings a lot of flavor.
One of my favourite shawarma spots in the city! However if you are really a tough critic you’ll have to know they serve the shawarmas inside an amazing dough pocket lol every bite is a taste of chicken and toppings it’s great but once again some people like the more common shawarma which is more of a wrap.try these guys out you won’t be disappointed oh and their hot sauce is flavourful definitely different but great nonetheless.
Wow! The best shawarma ever. In business over 18 years, these people keep it simple and delicious. Two shawarma (beef or chicken) for $8.99 - either spicy or not - is a steal and one that will satisfy the tastebuds, the wallet, and belly. Fantastic. We definitely will be back. Again. And again. And again.
Lets begin Staff is very polite and courtious Service is very fast Price is very economical Serving size is very generous Food is amazing! Must try.place is not too big but still its worth it.
Most Amazing Shawarma sandwich you can buy in Toronto. The Shawarma is very filling and tastes amazing. Highly recommended. Very tasty. Very pleasant and kind people working here. By far the most tastiest sandwich here is the Beef Shawarma Sandwich. It is full of flavour and you will always want to come back here for more. Highly recommended.
The shawarma was good, but their garlic sauce does not taste like garlic sauce at all (even after I asked them to add extra). I don't feel like I got an authentic shawarma experience, just a normal wrap
10/10 shawarma. They have beef and chicken shawarma. Both are exceptionally good. 10$ for 2 shawarma including tax worth for money. One of the best shawarma in Toronto.
Their shawarma is always very juicy and love the way they wrap it up. And staff is super friendly and easy to talk. Good customer service and great food!
