Shawarma G

Fantastic Shawarma spot, most definitely one of my favs! Syrian style shawarma is a must try. Service was kind and quick and generous with the sauce and chicken. I will certainly be returning once again:)

Best falafel in guelph! This place is amazing and the staff are the friendliest! The food is so flavourful and delicious.

FOOD IS COLD AND FEELS LIKE LEFTOVERS. I am very disappointed, I suspect health issues with this place. The Shawrma was very cold and dry with mushy rice, it felt like I was eating a left overs. I’ll not be returning to this place not recommending it to any of my friends and family. Be careful.

I got a chicken shawarma tonight from them and it gave me such a bad stomachache never go there again

This was my second time having shawarma in my life and this place set the bar high. I got the chicken shawarma platter and it's a 10/10 meal.

The rice was perfect and great amount of garlic sauce to enjoy. Highly recommend! Portions are big this was two meals for me.

Foods pretty good I like trying different places the hot sauce doesn't murder you so it's pretty nice. Was a little wait in line as they wanted to take care of the skip ordered which is ok but I'd say take care of customers that took the time out of their day to actually come in. If it's that crazy have 2 stations 1 for online and 1 for in store service still not too bad about 20 minutes in the store all together

The worst experience ever. I ordered pick and told the guy on the phone to have it ready. I get there the food is not ready! He charged me $3 more to replace rice with fries on the platter as well as. 75 for hot sauce and hummus with out telling me its extra. I payed over $70 for 3 platters! The reciept shows $3 for extra chicken and when i confronted him i didnt ask for it he said "this is to replace rice with fries we just dont have it on the system". Please look at your reciepts and ask for one this is gouging without customer consent. The price for a regular shaearma with fries or rice is the same why in the world would i be charged more on a platter. Never goimg again!

Beware of this place. Poor portions, poor time management and poor people skills.

The owner gives great insight into the foul people that work here, read the responses to other reviews and see how immature they are. Imagine the mockery and disgusting customer service that comes with an attitude from a sad owner like that.

I guess anyone can try their hand at opening a “restaurant” these days.

I would be highly embarrassed to be this owner with this childlike mindset.

And before your offer, no I am not interested in your sketchy and weird (probably illegal) “$500 giftcard” to prove my visit.

In the plaza for a quick grocery stop, tried this place for a takeaway lunch. Was going to order 3 falafel wraps instead ordered two and one fries wrap.

The place has a oven (wood burning?) that is non functional, but perhaps it was made for making pitas. Wishing it was active, would have bought lots of pitas on an ongoing basis.

The falafel wraps were good and usual standard fare. The size good and the falafels freshly made. Tons of toppings to select and the best option Sumac, Nigella Seeds, parsley, peppermint and to top it all pomegranate sauce.

The fries wrap was huge and very different from the falafel wrap we have often. The pomegranate sauce was good, but I wish I had asked for more.

The two guys on the counter super nice and very accommodating. Would definitely return back and support local non franchisee stores first.

I like only the small size wraps because it's the only option that is saj bread only (no pita). The other sizes all use a pita.

Their wood fired oven is only for show, and has a bunch of junk in it.

There isn't a place to sit.

First time we have ordered from here we had a chicken shwarma wrap and a falafal G meal. Both were exceptional, fresh veggies and flavorful sauces, chicken shwarma was delicious and moist full of flavor Great prices and friendly service will definently be going back for more.

Shawarma is average but they do good business as wait times are longer. Shawarma fries were good.

The size of the shawarma is way to small and it’s too expensive. I’m sorry but I’ve had shawarma from other places where it’s worth the money. I grew up in the Middle East and the prices are a rip off. I Apologize for my brutal honesty but people have to know before purchasing. I bought the large chicken shawarma and it was so small and thin! And your menu options had a Medium and Junior size - if the Large is this small, how much smaller would the Medium and Junior be? Please re-evaluate your prices!

Definitely the best Shawarma I've had in Canada. Until Shawarma G my favorite came from a place in Berlin, Germany, now it's a tie, because this Shawarma was sooo good I even went back to check out their Falafel for supper. It was just as good

Shawarma had no salt. It was very oily and the prices are too high. Growing up for 20 years in Middle East…. This is NOT shawarma!

This place is amazing! Best shawarma in Guelph. The food is delicious, very consistent and fresh. Excellent and efficient service. They also care to keep their customers and staff safe by closely following public health recommendations, even when they are being harassed by anti-mask whackos. What an awesome addition Shawrma G is to our community!

Love this place. I’m no connoisseur as I’ve mostly only had shawarma from places that are those main chains like Osmow’s, Lazeez, and villa mandina, but this is easily the best shawarma I’ve ever had. They have amazing flavoured rice, juicy chicken and awesome sauce. I like the choice of sides and find them all very tasty. Whenever ordering delivery it comes in a reasonable time. Ill be driving across town for this anytime I want shawarma, that’s for sure.

Best Shawarma in Guelph. Living in the Middle East for 8 yrs and find the shawarma here is the best. Lovely people there too.

I just watched the owner of this store. A man who stands over 6 feet tall and probably 280 pounds verbally abuse a young lady working at uhaul. When I asked him to stop yelling at her he began yelling at me and got right in my face. His words where it's equal equality and he is aloud to yell at her. After some words back and forth he left the store threatening and yelling at the both of us. DO NOT SUPPORT this angry abusive business.

I once had this shawarma and I was so severely disappointed I figured my taste buds must have deceived me. I tried it once more and I would’ve preferred to burn my money instead. I do not recommend.

The baklwas are the most delicious you can gind anywhere in guelph. Little on a high end side sharwama place but still good. Staff is not much friendly. Food is good.

Would not serve me as they said they were saving the food for an online order.
I then asked for a different menu option and they said it would be 30 min wait as they had to prepare online orders first.
As I am standing in the restaurant.
Never will I return there. There is plenty of other options in Guelph.

Rude and un professional, after calling to place big order and called again to confirm it.when I shown up in the shop they claimed they don't prepare the order until the customer arrive and pay.would rather tell the customer in advance.

I gave this place 5 stars two years ago without a written portion. Still been ordering here consistently whether via walk in or delivery and the quality is consistent every time, the falafel is the best I've had. The only issue I've ever had was one time we didn't get a package of baklava we paid for, and they resolved the issue quickly without any difficulty.

They have a clean restaurant and hard working staff. The traditional style shawarma is the best in Guelph.

Easily the best shawarma I've had in Canada (and that's including several years living in GTA) - always fresh, juicy and perfectly seasoned chicken with fluffy garlic sauce like it should be. Brought back memories of growing up in the Middle East.

Vegan standards are not maintained. They use same glover to cut meat and serve veggies on sandwich.
I donot recommend this place for vegans.

I happen to visit Shawarma G today at 31A-328 Speedvale Ave E in Guelph.
Was shocked to know that these people are making TWO Shawarmas in one Kuboos (flat bread). I bought two Shawarma wraps but not happy as they were made by ONE Kuboos. Top layer and bottom layer.
It was paper thin with less Chicken.
This was my last time there.
I have had Shawarma in 8 different Countries. They open the Kuboos in front of you and fill in the ingredients then fold it, warm it but these guys are cheating. Whoever goes there please make sure that they are giving you one wrap in one Kuboos

I have had shawarma from all over Ontario, this is by far the BEST. I just read through the negative reviews and each response from the business had me dying of laughter lol. As a business owner myself I love the way they handle their reviews. Some people are so quick to give a restaurant 1 star because of their emotions. If you love shawarma check this place out. I'm driving 1 hour for it today and can hardly wait! The fries are incredible too!

Shawarma G and I have a special relationship. I stumbled upon their restaurant when I was in my first year at the University of Guelph, as a group of friends and I went on a drive to momentarily avoid the stresses of school. Pulling into the plaza for some good old fashioned Tim Hortons, the restaurant stuck out to me like a leather jacket clad Aggie on campus. With its vibrant colours and Arabic script, the sign immediately draws passerby’s in, and in my case makes them think “What the hell is a shawarma restaurant doing in a place like this”. I figured that any place so far from the busy traffic of downtown would have some decent quality food, so I convinced my friends to give the spot a try, and we went in.

The thing that stuck out to me first and foremost was the Saj bread. Now I've lived in the middle east (Bahrain specifically), and all the shawarma there was made with Saj bread. When I came back to Canada, the pita wraps of Osmow’s and Lazeez just didn't even come close to the quality of those shawarmas. For years and years I yearned for that original shawarma flavour, and while some restaurants like Paramount were able to procure the bread, the taste was still lacking. So when I saw that Shawarma G wrapped their shawarmas in that good good, I immediately had good hopes.

The first bite of that wrap transported me back to my childhood a la Anton Ego in Ratatouille. The way that the sauce melded with that succulent chicken, paired with the acidic hit of the pickle, was more than enough to have a grown man reminiscing on memories he didn't even know he had. After years of searching for that authentic shawarma experience, I had finally found it. The seasoning on the chicken was perfect, and there were crispy bits spread throughout the wrap. The bread was crisp and soft, swaddling the meat for the perfect bite time and time again. The sauces provided an excellent creaminess in texture while also packing that garlicky hit that everyone loves. The components worked together in harmony to create a symphony of flavours in your mouth, that I have yet to see beaten by any other shawarma restaurant.

I am now in my 5th and final year at UofG. Shawarma G has been my go to shawarma spot that entire time. I made it my mission that any one of my friends or family that came to visit me during these last 4 years, had to try Shawarma G as well so they could understand what they had been missing out on. Every time the reactions were the same, “That's the best shawarma I have ever had”. My father, ever the Shawarma connoisseur like his son, branded this the closest thing you can get to the restaurants in the middle east, and I wholeheartedly agree.
If you're looking for a delicious, and truly authentic shawarma. You are hard pressed to find a better option than Shawarma G, because in my opinion that option does not exist.

To all the negative reviewers who have called the food “gross”, “salty”, “overcooked”, and “burnt”, you need to go get your tongue checked by a medical professional because you obviously have some sort of problem that should be sorted sooner rather than later. And to all the reviewers complaining of bad service, in all my years of coming here I have been treated with nothing more than the utmost respect and understanding. Any issues with an order have been immediately ratified, with a torrent of apologies as well. Just because you overgrown babies were unable to get things your way, doesn't mean these guys are the villains. Take a look at yourself in the mirror, you bums. I highly commend Shawarma G for standing their ground against these negative reviewers, it's refreshing to see a business that actually cares.

Shawarma G, you guys will always have a special place in my heart. If anyone ever asks what's the best shawarma they can get, I always say you. I know it may not mean much, but ya’ll got the Mo Dar Seal of Approval for Shawarma, and no one else can even lay claim to that. Never change.

This place is consistently great. The food is always fresh, even as the first customer of the day. Staff is friendly and speedy. You can tell the chefs are experiences and always able to meet my expectations. Highly recommend everyone in Guelph to try it out! Chicken on the rice is top tier!

This was the best shawarma I've had in a long time. All of the shawarma places in my current town are basically the same; mediocre. I was both surprised and impressed. The garlic was strong (a good thing), and I felt a kick of heat from their hot sauce, which is also good.

Excellent food. I've never eaten a falafel wrap, this much delicious. A simple vegetarian wrap was extraordinary. Thank you Shawarma G.

Great lebanese/turkish - falafel shawarma and the Tabouleh and hummus is incredible - best in the kw/guelph area!

You can find good shawarma in Guelph but I think this place is the best. The traditional style wrap that they offer with only pickles and garlic sauce is such a great idea where less is more, you can really appreciate the texture and flavor of the chicken better this way.
