Food is great and service is pretty fast especially with the long lines. The serving sizes are huge. My only complaint was the falafels were really dry.
Great Shawarma. Personally, I think this is the best Shawarma in Ottawa. I've never had a bad experience here. The chicken plate from here is amazing. If you don't know what to try, I'd recommend this. The portions are great for the price, in my opinion. Always a clean environment. 10/10 I recommend.
Delicious food and very generous portions. The service was great as well. Glad we stumbled across this place on route back from Montreal! They need to come to the GTA.
I got food poisoning and was sick for 4 days after eating the veggie platter. The fried veggies must’ve been sitting there all day. It was the only thing I ate that day. 2 stars because I’ve been a regular customer for many years and this is the first time that’s ever happened.
This place was recommended to me. There was a line but goes quickly. Price was a little high for a small chicken sandwich. However, it was worth it as the taste was pretty good.
Enjoy your potatoes with a side of the world's most rude, unprofessional and lazy employees. Have left the location because five lazy employees refused to help us when we were the ONLY customers there. When they DO help you they don't even look at you and just yell their questions. Would give no stars if possible.
Excellent service, wonderfully selections that are very tasty and the plates are really stacked. Good price for the amount you get. I have been going to this place for years and their service or excellent quality of food hasn't changed. Would highly recommend this place to everyone. They have take out and sit-in.
Rude staff. For some reason they took order of the customers infront and behind me, then took my order. Cashier was just laughing. That's not how you treat a customer. And their prices aren't great either. Just because they give "huge portions", doesn't mean their good shawarma joint.
Very sloppy shawarma sandwich, burnt donuts and bad experience. Whenever I go to this place, it’s always rushing the customers to order without even listening properly or giving them any time to decide or ask questions. The person making the shawarma sandwich made a mix meat shawarma sandwich instead of veg and when I confirmed about the sandwich, he got upset. The shawarma sandwich is was messy and with one bite it just fell apart. He didn’t follow proper instructions and just threw everything together. The donuts were burnt literally, I had one and threw the rest out. The guy from kitchen who brought the donuts out showed it to cashier lady and the other guy making shawarmas and discussed about, still they went ahead and gave it to me. I wanted to give it back but my whole experience was ruined and I didn’t even feel like saying anything else to them. All in all, very bad attitude of the staff and poor quality of food.
Every single order I’ve ever made in the past couple of months have been the wrong order especially if made it through SKIP. I literally called the store to confirm my order and she said it’s confirmed. However when I pick it up first they tell my order isn’t even there than they give me the wrong plate and whole complete wrong order. Do not order from this store, worst experience ever. Very rude customer service & food is always burnt.
The shawarma plates are the best in town. Same taste as all the other Shawarma Palace. There seems to always be a long line up here, but the staff makes the line disappear fairly quick. 5 stars food
I travelled 200 kilometres to taste the food and had a terrible experience. They provided us stale food and it was too smelly. We took this to the staff’s attention and they offered us free salad instead of changing the dish. Awful customer service. I gave one star for the poutine which was tasty.
Stopped here on the way to Cineplex some friends and enjoyed it! This was the first time I’ve been in person, but I’ve ordered from here many times for delivery.
The building is BIG. Like, this is a large restaurant. It has an absolute ton of tables and chairs, however, not all are available due to the pandemic. Still, they do have limited dine-in. It’s a really nice looking place on the inside! It was ALSO a very, very busy place.
You get to choose what’s on your shawarma, which is nice. The guy who served me was even willing to put on extra onions which was great. I found the serving sizes to be pretty big, and the price was good! For Ottawa, it’s definitely cheaper than a lot of restaurants. Their drink options are pretty simple, though they do have coffee (which I didn’t order). But they have a ton of food options.
I got the chicken shawarma sandwich and a regular tabouleh salad, and both were sooo good. The guy serving me gave me a TON of tabouleh for the “regular” size, and it was pleasantly lemon-y. The sandwich wasn’t massive, but for ~$6 it was a good size (and delicious). My girlfriend got the regular chicken shawarma poutine, and that was hella good. Also a huge serving size for relatively cheap!
All in all, I’d stop by here again if l’m in the area. All the staff were wearing masks, and I felt pretty safe here pandemic-wise. It was pretty cheap which was great for my college budget. And the food was delicious!
Very delicious food especially considering it was an after midnight visit. May be it was a late night thing but the service staff was a bit short on courtesy. Full marks for food, the Chicken Sandwich was phenomenal.
So good, always come back here when I am in town for work or vacation. The platters are a good portion, on the pricier side but the flavour is exceptional and the potatoes are to die for! Can't say enough about the garlic potatoes. Remember to try the spicy garlic sauce too.
Ridiculously large portions. The food quality was fairly average. I think people would go here mainly for the super generous portions. Though the restaurant was closing late the staff still didn't seem keen on letting people eat inside when I went. I'm not sure if they were just closing early that night, or if they just wanted to prep early for close or if it was a health measure of some kind, but we didn't feel welcome eating there later in the evening
I am a regular customer. I noticed they are not consistence on my visits. Yesterday I order three plates mix (chicken and beef) paid sixty dollars. To found out with my visitors at home very little meat in the plates and we end up with a vegetarian plates.
The shawarma is good, rice is good, salad is acceptable, potatoes are good, hummus is good.waiting is long, it took us around 30 minutes to get a takeaway, they need to address the matter, definitely I will be thinking twice if I am in a hurry.
What the hell is going on at restaurants now that we're barely in stage 3 reopening. Second shawarma place I've been to today where person making food isn't wearing a mask. We're still in a pandemic. And if they don't follow basic laws for masks I wonder what other laws or health safety standards they ignore.
Still just as good as when they first opened up years ago. Still the same generous portions, garlic potatoes to die for, and very friendly service.
Be wary of long lines on weekend nights - I've waited 30 - 45 minutes before on a Saturday, and so do very many people. It's worth it! Favourite shawarma in the city, and I make sure to stop by for a visit whenever I'm in town.
Clean and covid compliant. The food is amazing and delivered via enormous portions. The chicken shawarma is a must try - it will bring you back again. The staff are very busy but friendly and happily answer questions.
Food is 5 stars. Service is sub-par, unfortunately. Long lines often, their procedure to place order with one employee which then gets passed on to another leads to repeated/wrong orders. Even when I order on Skip, I have to wait longer than estimated pick-up times.
Forgot half my order, and when I called and asked them about it they told me to just ask Uber for a refund and to bad. Terrible service, terrible rude employees and I will not be ordering from there again. I suggest everyone take their business elsewhere.
I have been their customer for 4 years but recently the shawarma quality decreasing (potatoes are hard as rock and they put a small portion of chicken on it), it is disappointing
We've ordered from shawarma palace a few times now and really enjoy the food. We ordered the family platter for four and you get plenty of food. Another time we ordered the platter for 5 but we received the same amount of meat as we received with the the smaller platter and only got more rice and potatoes so we will stick to the platter for 4 from now on.
They give plenty of garlic sauce and hummus which we love! Potatoes are amazing and all the meat is delicious as well.
I have ordered take out through Uber eats with no issues and have also ordered ahead and picked up my order. They have two lines, one for pick ups and one for people who are ordering on site. This would be great if both lines weren't going to the same person. The people who were ordering kept going to cash and I had to wait a bit before one of the staff addressed me. I think there could be improvements to their set up. The staff aren't the most friendly but since I was just picking up anyway, I didn't really care.
There is ample parking as they are located in a plaza with other stores. I would recommend ordering your next shawarma from here! You won't be disappointed!
I ordered in through uber eats a couple of weeks ago, I got the chicken kabab platter. For the price I was impressed at the quantity of food you receive, BUT I was truly disappointed at the flavour of the chicken. Coming from the Middle East, my expectations were high, but when I sat to down to eat, from the first bite of the chicken it was very dry. Therefore losing my appetite and leaving the chicken off to the side.
Always a great experience at Shwarma Palace. Had a mixed salad plate with tabouli, hummus, beef, chicken and spicy garlic sauce. The meat is always tender and the veggies are fresh. Lots of garlic. Everything in the menu is delicious
Excellent food, just a bit more than most places nearby, but there are hearty helpings, and lovely and very experienced staff. What more could you ask for? Highly recommended!
Do not let their line intimidate you. 45 people in line before me and they efficiently work through it and am out in 30 mins! Best shawarma in the city. Clean, friendly and they gentlemen behind the serving counter are always joking around. Always impressed with the speed, quality and over all experience whether it’s to stay in or take out. From the home made garlic sauce, right down to their chicken wings, everything on the menu is delicious and they are willing to substitute anything to your preference. Love this place!
Not worth the hype. Too crowdy and too long waiting time and nothing was done to decrease the wait time. Would have been better if they concentrated on increasing the efficiency to handle when the crowd is high
How could you not love this place? Easily the best shawarma in town. I've been going to this chain (downtown location) since the late 90s. It doesn't disappoint and the portions are enormous. I have a hard time finishing a plate and usually share one with my wife. If you're in the area, it can't be beat.
Delicious food and large portions! My fav shawarma spot in the city. Only problem is it is so popular sometimes (especially early evening) the line up/wait is too long!
In Ottawa this past weekend for a baseball tournament and went to Shawarma Palace for a late late. It was our first time there, and was not sure what to expect. Very noisy and a bit of a line up when we got in. The place was very busy for 10: 30PM, and looking around, noticed most of the free tables and booths had dirty dishes on them, we had to clean one off to sit down. Looks like the majority of patrons here do not pick up after themselves, even with the facilities to do so disappointing. In regards to the meal, it was great. Nice healthy portions, and very tasty, but I had to use plastic cutlery as they ran our of clean cutlery, guess all the forks were still on the empty tables.the messiness of the place through me off.
Simply amazing! They serve with smile, huge portions of food and really delicious. Truly enjoyed my first visit. This place is much better than their other franchises in Mississauga and GTA. I ordered chicken shawarma platter and usually I never had to leave the food in the plate but this was an exception. Highly recommend.
Rude service! We called them to place an order just for them to give attitude and disrespectful!? For what? For not speaking english good? They tell us our order is on the way.we called an hour later just to find out they didnt place anything? Truly some poor service!
Super insane hot inside, ac broken or not there. My salad had (what seemed to be) last night's cucumbers and the whole plate was pretty much tomatoes. Did not enjoy my time there.
As the price keeps going up, quality of the food only keeps dropping. Very sloppy sandwich wrapping skill that made the sauce not only leaked from the sandwich but also through the take out bag.
Nicest interior of any shawarma place I've been to so far. Oh and the actual sandwich was also really good. Their garlic sauce seems to have a bit more kick than other shawarma places I've been to.
Great food. 3 stars for discusting washroom. Dirty and smelled like sewage. Rude girl at the cashier. She needs to smile shes customer service representative.
Came here with a large group of 20 people around 8: 30pm on a sunday night. It was super busy but so worth the wait. The portions were ginormous and so delicious. A good bunch of us also fell in love with the guava nectar that they sell
I don’t usually leave reviews unless I receive exceptionally great service or a very poor one. I am writing this review because I am honestly fed up! I have nothing negative to say about the food or the restaurant in general, however customer service at the Hunt Club and Bank location is absolutely horrendous. I am referring specifically to this older hijabi lady who works the cash register. This is not the first time or second or third that I was shocked by her rudeness. She makes zero eye contact, rolls her eyes, never greets customers, stares at her phone and does not even acknowledge you! Like honestly I pay for the food it’s not given to me for free so I expect some decency in return. I don’t know why she’s wearing a hijab if she has no common decency! I am talking about her rolling her eyes or Ignoring when customers say THANK YOU after paying for their food! Like what the actual hell? Today the service was so bad and when I went to sit down I noticed her talking about me to another employee as if I cannot tell, them they both smirked while looking at me. I was with my family and kids so I did not make it a big deal. But this behaviour has been ongoing ever since this lady started working there. Next time I will ask to speak to the owner or the manager and request that she does not ring my order through let someone normal do it. Lastly, I am not the only one she does this to as I’ve heard the same complaints from friends family and coworkers BUT only women. She’s usually much nicer to MEN. Ridiculous and pathetic. Needs to be fired ASAP.
Great service and the by far the best tasting shawarma. Salad and pickles are delish. Amazing potatoes. Hummus is creamy with the freshest pita. The taboulli has a hint of the twist of a lemon. The sheer volume of food being means its always fresh. No other place compares. Oh yeah and large portions.
I was picking up a delivery for doordash on july 1st 2019 around 10: 10 pm. The girl made me wait more than 20 minutes when the order was ready and sitting beside her tablet. Very irresponsible employee. I asked the sandwish maker because she was acting strange towards me. I asked her about my order when i first got in. She said it will be ready in 15 minutes but she was acting strange towards me after. The food got reqdy but she didnt bother packing it up and giving it to me until i asked the sandwish maker to give it to me and he did it quickly and respectfully. Please do not accept to be served by this employee if it happens for you to be there she was very mean and disrespectful and doesnt deserve to work there this restaurant is good but the employee isnt good. She is a short young brunette girl. I hope if the mangement of this restaurant get to read this to take responsible steps against this disrespectful, mean and unprofessional employee she was secrerly laughting after i told the sandwish maker to give me my food. The sandwich maker dude was respectful i have nothing against him.
This place was just ok. I had heard good things so I was hoping to be impressed. They were busy when I went in and the line was between 5 and 10 minutes. The staff were rushed but polite. I ordered two chicken plates and a veggie plate. The chicken was a bit dry and they were stingy with the garlic sauce and tabouleh. They did allow me to substitute potatoes instead of rice. In the end, however, our plates were mostly potatoes. The veggie plate had eggplant and other veggies that I hadn't seen in a veggie platter so that was good. It was a bit of a trip for me to get there, and they were pretty much the same as most other shawarma places so I won't make a special trip back.
