Really aesthetic place with good portion sizes! Had the soup dumplings twice now and would definitely recommend:)

I won’t return. I asked the waitress if the cook could adjust a veggie dish. She asked, or told me, that she asked the cook, but didn’t really. His answer…no… so, won’t return. Adjust the dish by using other veggies on hand, and adjust your price. I’m in the same business. Inexcusable. Bye.

Food was very mid. The red braised pork belly had no flavor or taste, the meat tasted old and not fresh. The only redeemable dish was the braised beef brisket noodles. Would not recommend coming here.

Went here for lunch and loved it. Had chicken with noodles and ate the whole thing quickly because it was super delicious. Then enjoyed what were probably the best pork dumplings I have ever had. Service was attentive and fast. Food came out quickly, but not suspiciously quick. Nice decor and relaxed atmosphere with some tunes playing in the background. We will be back here.

It was was early for dinner however they had take out orders and walking. We were the only table.
Service was amazing as was the food.

We walked in because of the adorable vibe. Loved the friendly staff. And would come back in the heartbeat for the food Good vegetarian options fyi!

My experience with SHINYI’s dumplings were ok. I just wanted a quick take out dinner so I ordered the soup dumplings and the beef/onion pan friend dumplings.

The beef dumplings were great. Tasty and juicy.

However, the soup dumplings were a bit disappointing. The taste was good but there was no soup or juice to slurp on. The beef pan fried dumplings actually had more juice in them than these did.

I’ve found dumplings of the same or better quality at a lower price. I really wanted to love the place, but I’m just not impressed.

The staff were kind and the decor is very nice inside.

I think I may give this place another shot and order other things like their signature rainbow dumplings.

Shinyi's atmosphere feels more like an order at the counter and sit-down-to-eat cafe rather than a sit-down restaurant turning your attention to the food rather than the dining experience. This makes it a great place to take your food to-go if you're not looking for this type of casual environment. However, they do offer table service and the service was pleasant.

The menu has a good variety, especially for vegetarians:) yet still retains the more traditional and authentic flavours of China.

The food came very quickly which I was delighted to see; I was a bit worried about the number of take-out orders affecting the speed of food preparation. However, they might prioritize those eating in thereby boosting the experience of those who come to the restaurant.

I accidentally got Egg Fried Rice ($15.99) and steamed Egg Chive Dumplings ($13.99), which feature similar ingredients but with different preparations. While it was an error of judgement on my part, the two dishes were very satisfying with generous portions.

Food was very good in general. You can see that they have put in a lot of effort to come out with the all natural rainbow dumplings. Each dumpling is distinct in flavour, but to be honest, all the classic dishes were better, the beef noodles, soup dumplings, potstickers and chili cauliflower were all top quality.

The Rain Bun was better than the Rainbow Dumplings imo. The flavors blend well and the texture was soft and fluffy

Will definitely go back again.

The steamed bun was great, their pan fried dumplings with chives and shrimp was also great. We also got their pickled fish soup and it was delicious, spicy and sour with corn peppers.

The food was delicious and priced decently for the amount and quality you get. The only issues are the waiters. I was rudely reminded of the tip not being included in the check which was fine. It’s one thing to be asked to tip but to be then asked in front of all my dinner guests what tip I would like to add is extremely rude and made me reluctant to tip. It’s poor etiquette. Perhaps return the machine to me so I may make that decision at my own convenience.

They have one of the bests miso soups I’ve ever tasted.
They are extremely kind.

Didn’t expect the stir fry dish to be so delicious and authentic in a dumpling house! Real gem in downtown!

Definitely recommend! Super delicious dumplings, cosy interior, authentic.

With dumplings I ordered a cabbage salad with glass noodles, was delicious but extremely spicy (I like spicy food, but it was too much even for me), so if order just ask to make it mild

And one more thing: I ordered dumplings soup with pork, but it occurred that they mean soup is inside dumplings (you see them on photo), not dumplins in broth.

Also passion fruit soda was good, recommend to order.

Lovely place had the nicest crisp on their dumplings absolutely wonderful have brought my friends here twice it’s GREAT!

We had such a fun experience @shinyi_dumplings trying our their Dumplings! Loved how they tried something different that not only looked beautiful and ofcourse instagramable but also tasted super unique and delicious.

Apart from their Dumplings we also really loves their:

️ General Tso's chicken - it was crispy and then coated in that authentic General Tso's sauce. Each bite was heavenly.

Stir fried Noodles with Shrimp - these were also our favourite from the night. Full of flavour, not crazy spicy and just the right balance of shrimp, veggies and noods!

Totally recommend you head over to this unique Dumpling and Seafood restaurant the next time your in Dtown!

The service that was provided to me in my friend, and was impeccable and we were very thankful to have Rhea taking care of us for this service throughout the whole night. If it wasn’t for her, I don’t know how the service would’ve went let it be left or right but she gave us everything that we needed. Anytime we requested for it. She deserves a promotion. She’s a beautiful human being and she deserves everything in the world.

Top marks for creativity! I actually have seen rainbow colored soup dumplings before in Asia, we're every single color represented a different feeling. But this is the first place in Toronto that I know of that does it and has it on the regular menu. As such, they get a lot of bonus points for that.

There's actually a fair bit of non dumpling menu items as well. There's regular Cantonese dim sum which is often missing in soup dumpling places. There are also a handful of regular Chinese dishes that you can order. As such, it's great because you have everything you need under one roof. Most of the items here have a nice flavor profile that is straightforward and not complicated.

With clean and simple decor, the whole spot provides a wonderful take on classic Chinese dumplings. I highly recommend it.

Sweet and sour peanut salad needs more salt, sour, and sweet liked the veg in it most (add more) the dumplings lacked flavour in the filing and the wrappers are too thick.
