Shogi Sushi

Excellent service and a nice seating environment. Very good sushi generally, especially the salmon. The avocado was fresh and the edamame was cooked nicely. The egg sushi and non-sushi dishes were not as good but not terrible. As with any AYCE sushi place, a few pieces of the sushi that we ordered did not arrive, but the sushi came out so quickly that this was a non-issue. Overall a very solid AYCE restaurant and I would definitely return.

Sad that you send three orders through with Spicy Salmon maki and never receive it.

There were two other tables being served in the restaurant so it is hard to imagine confusion or a mix up.

It seemed deliberate as none of the other spicy crab or spicy butterfish rolls were mistaken.

The staff was inattentive and a bit rude.

Overall a disappointing experience.

Great tasting sushi, great staff and service. Truly a diamond in the rough in the world of AYCE sushi. Still after all these years, they still remain great!

At $27.99/pax ($29.99/pax on weekends & holidays), the All You Can Eat (AYCE) deal here is one of the cheapest you’ll be able to find in the GTA. Despite that, the sushis and dishes served here are of very reasonable quality.

I liked some of their appetizers, such as the gyoza dumplings, fried scallop, shrimp tempura. For the teriyaki shrimp and teriyaki salmon, the quantities served for both of them seemed ridiculous that were both indicated as (1pc). However, since multiple orders could be placed, the “1pc” that looked and felt more like “1 bite” was able to be compensated.

The sushis here were great, although not outstanding. Nevertheless, I appreciate the huge selection that they offer which helps in combating the “diminishing marginal returns” of having too much of a kind of sushi. For the hand roll, they do stuff them with a lot of rice, something which I am not a fan of but some people might be fine with it.

For the desserts, they offer ice creams but the tempura banana was the crowning glory.

Drove out for a la carte but was forced to have all you can eat. Fk that was such a disappointing the sashimi were thiner than the ginger slices and the red snapper tasted like bleach.

Went in for "lunch" on a Saturday at 2 pm and they said Saturday is dinner all day? And that's its $31.99 all day. Weird and would've left at that but I had 2 more friends coming so we stayed. There was one other table about to leave while we were there and the staff hovered the ENTIRE time. You know whene servers ask hos the food is 2 seconds after you get it? They interrupted our conversations a solid 15 times in about 2 hours. 5 minutes before they offered dessert, they tell us there's a 1h20 seating limit? Even though there were no other customers, so that was odd. If they had a regular lunch price and time on weekends I would return. Also, parking was terrible. The food was ok. Salad portions were tiny.

Terrible. Worst sushi restaurant experience ever! Will never go back there! At lunch time, the only option was the all-you-can eat DINNER menu- $27.95. We had already traveled for hours and were really hungry, so we still went in. The seaweed was chewy! The unagi roll had a dime-sized piece of unagi. There was more than double the rice necessary on the sushi - had to remove most of it. They were rushing to clear the plates and started practicly pushing us out the door after 40 minutes. It was obvious that my guest was trying her best to be polite. Such a disappointment since it was the first dine-in experience in 18 months and I was so embarrassed for my guest whom I hadn't seen in that long too.

The price is cheaper than comparable sushi places, but I felt the quality of the sushi was lower so you get what you pay for. The salmon had a very slight sourness and some of the maki rolls did not have a uniform amount of fish. Some pieces only had scraps of fish when picked apart.

Used to love coming to Shogi. I called this morning and asked if I can come in for lunch and they said they were open. After driving 30 mins to get there, I was told eating in is only open for AYCE even though the restaurant was empty! They preferred to have an empty restaurant over having two paying customers just because we wanted to order bento boxes. Well.we won’t be coming back!

Honestly would not recommend this place to anyone, their customer service is awful. The lady that I dealt with at cash was rude and annoyed when I asked for an extra soy sauce. When she was giving me back my change she threw it into my hand.and say "ok bye". The sushi is mediocre at best and definitely not fresh.

Brought my date here a few days ago. We sat down to eat at 7pm. 50 minutes after we sat, we were approached by a server asking us to leave, as someone else made a reservation for 8 and they had to accommodate them. Made it for a very awkward experience and we had to continue the date at a different venue. They advertise themselves as an all-you-can-eat, but in reality what they mean is all-you-can-eat in 50 minutes.

The WORST customer service. I want to give this place a better rating because the food was decent (Definitely not the best in the gta) but I honestly can’t due to the horrible service I received from the waitresses. The whole time your eating they are trying to rush you. One waitress literally was inches away from hitting my face so she could grab an empty plate. They basically forced us to get dessert and and made us hurry. Take your money somewhere else. It’s not worth it here.

Discount ayce dining 2 people total was $56.if you dont mind your sashimi sliced thin like paper and you love rice.this is a great place. Also we got questioned for not eating beef ribs that were literally all fat and bone.humm.grilled fat wasnt my order though?

I really enjoyed coming here! We went in with masks, sat down and took them off. There were two other tables of people there. Be warned that they will not let you sit if you're more than 4 people per table.

Food was delicious, service was above and beyond. Yes they forgot a few things just like they do in a lot of AYCE sushi spots, but it's not a big deal, you just re-order it. Everything was fresh, and prices were amazing! $23.99 + HST for all you can eat, and add $2.00 on if you come during the weekend! Lots to eat, delicious flavors and really nice staff. We really wanted ice cream but they were closing down, so our amazing waitress packed us our ice cream scoops in takeaway containers ️ Will be coming back for sure!

I have no clue how this place has over 4 stars.the food and service really aren’t good, I won’t ever be back and would not recommend this place to anyone.

Every experience with Shogi has been a good one. This has been my go-to sushi place for a few years now. I love how attentive the staff is and how quick my order comes to the table. The one thing is that sometimes I don't get one thing I ordered but I put it through again and got what I wanted. The food is of high quality for an affordable price.
