Otherwise it's just another Shoppers, but it's extremely inappropriate for someone to berate their employees, especially in full view of customers and other employees.

With this size of a store, you are obligated to have a public bathroom. It’s an Ontario building code. You can’t send me to Tim Hortons for that. I’ll leave your store forever.

It's ok. The grocery, household, etc aisles are pretty good. My issues are with the pharmacy. There is a technician there who is consistently rude. She interrupts me every time I am trying to explain a request. And on a visit a while back, I witnessed a customer at the pharmacy counter struggling to understand how to pay due to confusion about their insurance. After resolving the confusion, the technician pointed to the credit card machine and said in a slightly raised voice, "right there, right there", and shook her head as she walked away. I emailed them about my observations of this technician but they didn't respond. I'll have to take my business elsewhere if this situation doesn't change.

PS: regarding the response, I see that it is copy pasted and not saying anything concrete. I will be using a different pharmacy from now on.

I was at this Shoppers location today May 23,2023 around 5 pm. Don't bother browsing the beauty section and perfume section. You will have staff literally and shamelessly follow you around like you are a criminal. I have been a long-time customer of this place and I can tell you that the shopping experience has seriously deteriorated. I have never been treated like this ever before. My advice: Just come get what you need from the pharmacy (the pharmacy staff is nice though) and off you go. Not worth browsing around. If you want to browse items in peace, go to the Shoppers on Gladstone. The staff there is super nice and I ended up buying the perfume I was looking for there.

DO NOT get your prescriptions filled here. They claim false charges to your insurance AND refuse to give you your re-fills for weeks then claim they cancel them and you should have grabbed them when they where not filled. Absolute incompetent pharmacy and pharmacists.

Mr Bachir & pharmacy technicians are very professional & competent.
Answer all questions in very polite ways.
Unfortunately! After years of being a client I had to transfer my to a closer pharmacy. I live far they can't promise delivery on time.

I had my problem with the pharmacy/pharmacist in general. I have been getting my insulin here for close to 8 years I believe - and went in the other day and received one box instead of the usual 2 (I've been getting 2 boxes at a time since I've been going there). I didn't understand why so I asked and was told they changed it incase they get audited and started telling me random numbers but not explaining. I went back to my car and still couldn't' figure it out so called. I got the pharmacist, the owner of the pharmacy Mr Surani, on the phone and he proceeded to YELL at me on the phone telling me to do the math and that he would get in trouble if they got audited instead of listening to me and answering my questions. He didn't stop yelling at me until I told him that no one properly explained to me and all I was getting told if "they're going to get in trouble if they get audited". I couldn't believe the way he was yelling at me - I have been a customer of his for years and this is the way i was treated when being asked to get a full explanation fo something. Ridiculous and I will never support him again, have switched over all my prescriptions.

The woman who helped me at the checkout today was EXCELLENT. Makes me want to go out of my way to come here.

It has almost all essentials at one place, medicine, diary, beauty products, postal service and some daily needs.

Shoppers has a good self checkout system so I don’t use the cashiers much but all are generally helpful and a couple are real gems. I’ve had a few vaccinations here the pharmacist has a bit of an unusual technique for the stick but it is effective. Read between the lines on some of the negative reviews they are motivated by more than the incidents being described by the user.

Unfortunately, I've had the same issue at this location as the other location at Bank & Gladstone. The pharmacy can make notes on your file, but they seldom read the notes. About 1/3rd of the time there is a mix up with my prescriptions that could have been easily avoided by reading the notes on my file, that they fail to do. Apparently it's not standard practice to check them, so I am not sure what the point of it is, but I was told the same thing at the other location.

This usually means I have to leave while they fix it and come back later, sometimes it's 30 minutes later, sometimes it's a few hours, sometimes it's the next day.

The store side of the equation is fine, it's the same as any other shopper's in my experience, in terms of service and products in stock.

Thanks to the entire staff in SDM Pharmacy for their professionalism, in particular Stephanie as I have been a customer for a long time. Regrettably, health care within our province along with the nation has been eroded over the years, since serious research indicates that Denmark, Netherlands, Norway and Sweden have the finest in existence. Please note this is a reposted item since the majority of my reviews vanished! Nonetheless, no one should ever be taken for granted during this regressive global pandemic.

The staff here is always so helpful, especially in the beauty department! Great recommendations from Kristina and she always making sure that you get what you came there for.

Employees accuse customers of stealing and check your bags.if you walk in this store don’t bring ur own bags or else employees are going to think your stealing.

Very nice experience, close to the neighborhood. And all the services such as pharmacy, post office. They have deals on many items. Their pharmacy staffs are very friendly and always willing to help.

Employees don’t seem to really care. The exit door has been on and off broken for the last 4 years, shows how much care they put into the store. When I say broken I mean it opens about 10x too slow to be useful, so you have to push with your hands, which is lovely during covid.

The tiny grocery section is often missing staples like bacon, butter, or eggs.

The aisles are narrow and the employees often decide to have chats at the crossroads of the aforementioned aisles.

The Canada Post office always has a gigantic line because there’s never more than one employee working it seems, regardless of day or time.

The pharmacy has one woman who seems to hate her job and seemingly every human to ever exist. Her casual condescension and lack of care always manages to one up the previous time she treated a customer terrible. It upsets me more when she berates elderly customers simply for entering the wrong line. I get nervous when I have to deal with her like I’m writing an exam. I’m a 31 year adult, I shouldn’t be scared of pharmacy employees.

At least there is a gigantic beauty section, though, which like at Shoppers, no one visits.

Went for a Covid 19 test on Tuesday December 21st at 8: 30 a.m. We still have not received result and today is December 30th. Other friends who were exposed to the virus went to different drugstores for their tests and had their results, both couples within 36 hrs. If you do not get the results on the covid health site within 4 days you are asked to phone the place where you got your test. I called yesterday and all they said was sorry. I asked for my results and they could not tell me. This is not acceptable.

The old man pharmacist is really good at giving you covid vaccine. I didn't even feel anything.

I went to this shoppers, on 24th Aug'21 around 5: 30 PM, to buy few things. Accidently saw a donation basket and asked the female cashier (do not remember her name) present there about it as I wanted to donate some dry food packets. To my surprise, she started saying that it isn't for customer to take things from it (not in a friendly way). Of course I know such donation boxes ain't for customers to come and grab things. FYI, if you think judging people by their appearance makes you superior, just remember lady what goes around comes around. You have no right to say those things. There are plethora of option to shop around and don't worry I'll take my business to some other place!

The staff are friendly and they have good sales specials, but the outside of the front store has become unsafe to walk because of the aggressive panhandling and rift rafts of the downtown core.

Conveniently located on Bank street and is a cute store that offers all the essentials.
Staff were friendly and we got what we needed very quickly.

Wonderful friendly staff for the most part. Often see them taking the time to chat with older clients. Helpful when needed. Usually have good stock on sales items.

A staff member overheard me talking to the pharmacist about my allergic reaction to a laundry detergent. She pulled me aside afterwards and told me about a great product to try, and then she even had the cosmetologist come and help me find something alternative to ease the irritation - all this to say, it was really nice to be treated like a person again instead of a Covid 19 inconvenience. Thank you to today’s staff:)

The manager was so great to spot me having trouble finding what I needed. He politely asked if I needed help and got me on my way quickly. Small gesture but I recognized it and appreciate it! Great job.

I like Shoppers Drug Mart at Laurier. My only issue is with a female pharmacist who never smiles. I realize she's busy but I always have to wait over 30 minutes for meds. I am polite but feel she doesn't like me. She has 3 children as she said one day. Everyone else makes me feel welcomed.

I go to this location often, and find they are well-stocked for food and everyday essentials. They also have the beauty boutique which not all locations have!

This location is extremely convenient whenever I am in downtown for errands. Since I work in downtown so I come here often for everyday essentials. Everything is always in stock and the store is extremely clean. Canada Post is also inside so I am always here to mail letters and packages.

Went by this afternoon to pick up a last minute Xmas gift at the Bank and Laurier location - a hand cream that was apparently sold out. I asked the employee at the Beauty products counter if she could help. She saw that it wasn't on the shelf and then said that she could find out whether it was at another store. She needed to get someone to replace her at the desk and then began making calls at nearby locations. She was kept on hold for several minutes at various locations but patiently waited and found a store nearby that carried the product. This was not her problem, not her sale and really had everything to do with professional service. I was amazed by this outstanding demonstration of service even during the pandemic. Thank you for going the extra mile.

The cashiers here are so much nicer and much more willing to help than the ones at Walkley. They have more stock than the other store too.

1 st time I got a product who is working absolutely firm very 1st use it’s amazing for my problematic after sinus skin!

(April 2020) Was disappointed that the self checkouts weren't being wiped down between uses. Couldn't tell for certain if baskets were being disinfected but it certainly didn't appear so. I expect a higher duty of care during a pandemic.

Convenient & standard Shoppers Drug Mart location. This one was open late on a Sunday when not many other Shoppers locations downtown were open which was perfect.

Extremely Unprofessional manager and Rude with loud voice, the owner.

The manager was working in the isle filling up the empty spots. I politely approached her and asked about a particular product that is in the same isle. She didn't even let me finish my question and told me it was "SOLD OUT" and that many people already came to ask.

I told the manager that one of other employees informed me many weeks ago about shipment coming in every Thursday; hence the reason for my visit.
I told her that I understood it was sold out and asked for more information.
Manager seemed very agitated and upset at the fact that I am asking further questions about products.
I asked her if I could talk to anyone else, she admits that she is the manager and the next person to talk to, would be the owner.
She storms away and gets the owner.

The owner starts off by talking in a very condescending way to me and that he is going to slowly explain how the products are stocked.
After listening to the process of the Truck dropping off the boxes and employees use the "moving carts" to bring boxes around,
I asked one critical question which seems to be the most difficult thing for both the manager and the owner to fathom.
***If you have been visiting the store to buy a certain item consistently and if it is always empty, wouldn't you want to be informed as to when the next visit should be to maximize the probability of acquiring desired product? ***

I asked this question.

"is there a particular order as to how the store fills up the isles with newly arrived products? " (I would like to gain an understanding of rough estimate of the time so that I could plan my next visit efficiently)

The owner freaks out and tells me that he will explain again how the product is displayed. He physically grabs Tylenol Cold Pills and picks them up, puts them back in the shelf; expecting me to understand that people move boxes and open the boxes then put the products on the shelf.

I again, asked him around what time I should be coming back if I wanted to have a better chance. He shouts at my face and tells me that I am not understanding the shipment process and asks me to leave.
So I LEFT.

I went to the Rexall nearby. And ASKED THE EXACT SAME QUESTION.
The cashier was extremely nice and she gave me the information I needed and I had one of the best customer service experience from Rexall.

These two very paradoxical encounters happened between the two main drugstores in Ottawa. I am extremely disappointed that the manager of such a big location is extremely unprofessional and in addition, the owner also seems to not have practiced any kind of Canadian Social Norm.

DO NOT GO to this location as many employees other than the manager seemed unhappy because of how they are treated.

These two People need to re-Learn how to be respectful and considerate of others especially when it is your profession and certainly when you are the business owner.

Great shoppers, the cashier was extremely kind and pointed out a sale going on to save me money when she didnt have to and tended to me as soon as I got back in line.

I went into the pharmacy feeling really stressed because I had forgotten a night of my meds back home (7 hours away) I had the MOST pleasant experience I have ever had with the most kindest pharmacist. He was extremely understanding & very caring in general. He took my stress away instantly & he did everything he could so I could get my meds on time. Mo, you rock! Thank you for your kindness & your time. You didn't have to go out of your way, but you did with no bother in the world. I will be forever grateful for such kindess as I am not used to it at my pharmacy back home.

The staff here were very friendly and helpful! It was a much larger store than I expected to find downtown and had a better selection of grocery items than I would have anticipated. I do appreciate them now carrying more of the PC Organic product line, although it would be nice if that expanded further. It was nice they seemed to have some bilingual staff on hand.

Four people behind the pharmacy counter, I waited 7 minutes and nobody even acknowledged me. Even the lady who walked right past me after she finished serving a client. I’ll walk to Rexall down the street where they acknowledge me and come to see me within a minute or two.

I am not impressed having to stand in a long line waiting for a cashier, with only one working at lunch hour.   This store use to be the fastest shoppers drugmarts I have ever been in.   With all cashes opened at lunch time so you were in and out quickly.    This store seems to only want you to use the self-service checkouts and forget having actually people working.    Some things you can’t use the self-service  like loading your presto card, ect…   and in reality why should I work for your location for free scanning my own order.    Take a hint if there is a large line and no one wants to use the self-service checkouts, get rid of them.    I will start going to another location who actually employees real humans.

Very clean and well maintained store. Staff is helpful and friendly. Carries a good selection of food, and other non food items. Pharmacists are well trained in their field. Highly recommend this place.
