Extremely Disappointing Customer Service

I have visited this Shopper's Drug Mart multiple times, and unfortunately, my experiences have consistently been subpar. The main issue revolves around the appalling customer service provided by both the pharmacy staff and assistants.

The pharmacists and assistants often seem disinterested in helping customers, engaging in casual conversations with each other instead of attending to those in need. On multiple occasions, I have witnessed a lack of professionalism, with staff members ignoring customers and leaving them waiting for extended periods, even when the store isn't busy.

Today's visit was particularly frustrating. I approached an assistant for assistance with a simple request, only to be abruptly dismissed and told to wait for the pharmacist. The pharmacist, unfortunately, displayed a similar lack of attentiveness, making it clear that my concerns were not a priority.

The wait times, despite the store not being busy, are consistently longer than necessary, ranging from 10 to 15 minutes. This extended waiting period only adds to the overall dissatisfaction with the service.

It is disheartening to see such a disregard for customer needs in what should be a professional and customer-centric environment. I sincerely hope that the management takes notice of these concerns and takes proactive steps to improve the customer service at this location.

Same as everyone else, pharmacy never answers their phone and it is always a struggle to get a prescription refill at all, let alone in a timely manner. They never actually do anything to improve, always just post the same automated apology reply and skate by because they know people rely on their care. Corporate needs to look into this location, the owner should be ashamed at how this store is run.

Edit because I had a worse experience:

My current pharmacy called looking for one of my medications, they were told I had no prescriptions at this pharmacy. I had been texted earlier in the month telling to pick up prescriptions by X date; day came and went I was also told I could always at ANYTIME move my prescription to another pharmacy.

We were unable to get a hold of my doctor within a few days & I needed my medication. I decided to go down to your location & you guys had my medication behind the counter WITH A REFILL ON IT. Apparently when my pharmacist called you in front of me we were told you had nothing for me. I was not able to use my insurance and had to pay full price for my medication.

A few months before this my medication was accidentally sent to this location; figured it wasn’t a big deal pick my meds up and have it transferred the next month. You were not able to release one of my medications due to a “system error” & I was asked to return later in the day. When I did I was forced to sign a paper I did not understand (I have severe anxiety and ptsd and I was just being told to read it and make sure I understand it). I didn’t I was nervous I have never in my 10 years of taking antidepressants have I ever had to sign anything with a government of Ontario symbol on it. I was not given a copy of what I signed and the medication that had the issue had a new sticker on top of an old sticker (the old sticker was just missing the date). What I found out later was that I signed a “Med Check” for someone who is on odsp. I am not on odsp; I have a full time job that I take this medication for to function.

I have never had a worse experience at a shoppers. I used to regularly pick up my meds at this location until the staff started treating me like I was stealing everytime I went in. I dont like being followed or asked if I put something back if all I have done is go to pick up my prescriptions and leave. I stopped purchasing my cosmetics and bathroom items when I pick up my medication because of how uncomfortable your staff makes me feel. Your pharmacy staff seems very overworked & they all are extremely rude & short with people. There has been an issue with my prescription for a while & no one will actually listen to what my issue is. You keep telling me to talk to my doctor but my doctor says you guys have the ability to do what I am asking if someone would listen to what I said instead of dismissing me everytime. Horrible customer service.

The Post Office at this location is absolute mayhem, and has been for some time. It attracts nothing but unprepared and uninformed customers. What’s worse? The employees make zero efforts to get the lines moving. On several occasions, I was there 30+ minutes waiting for simple drop-offs and scans.

Planning on dropping off and leaving? Sure, you can do that, but they won’t make the effort to scan your parcels afterward. So if it’s on a Friday, there’s no actual confirmation of receipt until the following Monday evening (if lucky).

It starts from the top, this place needs new ownership, management and some staff; a complete overhaul. BUT, it’s Rideau, it falls into the stereotypical stigma that comes with the area. I’ve since found a much better post office and will never return to this place. If you have all the time in the world, zero priorities and love waiting, this is the place for you.

Although I have not dealt with every Shoppers Drug Mart, this is arguably the worst Shoppers Drug mart ever. They took my prescription that was supposed to have 100 tablets dispensed then changed to only 16 tablets so that they could maximise their dispensing fees. Worst of all, they never answer the phone forcing customers to come in to the city to talk to them. That lack of phone response is unique to all of the Shoppers DM that I have ever experienced.

Worse customer service ever for the pharmacy, specially when I need to
have your prescription in emergency. Have been waiting for 4h just to complete something that wouldn’t take a minute. The bottle was right there and the was not client for hours …, worse service even

This pharmacy has been under new management since last fall, and the service has become unacceptable. I severed my relationship with them as a result. Prescription refills are not requested, or sent to the wrong doctor. Some prescriptions are filled multiple times. Other times they don't have the prescription and tell me I already picked it up. There have been billing problems, and I've seen them speak disrespectfully to customers. My account no longer syncs with the app, and refill reminders are listed with the wrong dates. I can no longer request refills on line, and often not through the phone system, causing me to have to talk to the pharmacist who is unreliable. I don't need the stress of wondering if my prescriptions will be renewed on time, and what I will do if they are not. Goodbye.

I have been coming to this Shoppers for many years and had no problem. But past couple of visits were terrible. The pharmacy staff here are clueless and don't care to be helpful. I hope head office lets the manager know to get his act together, people depend on proper pharmacy service.

Pharmacy NOT helpful. Cannot be bothered to help customers. Pharmacist with no concern for the predicament of others that they share responsibility for. Told to come back in two hours just to be told that the prescription was not available. No thought to call despite having my contact info. Essentially leaving me to have go hunting for open pharmacies at 8pm at night. And just to add to the injury they did not even give me back my original prescription. So I am SOL.

He was so rude.

Our go to pharmacy in the neighbourhood.

Good product selection and convenient location. The store does their best co sidering their location and the social issues they deal with on a daily basis.

Parking always available in my experience.even if it's all the way around back

I have never encountered such gross incompetence than the pharmacy staff at this store. I spent over an hour during my workday trying to solve a mistake made by pharmacy staff who did nothing to try and solve the problem they caused. I'd rather drive 20kms out of my way to another pharmacy where I know the staff can actually do their jobs, then step one more foot into this store.

Love this Shoppers — often cheaper groceries than the loblaws across the street, and the pharmacy staff is SO helpful. Also very convenient to have a Canada Post in the store!

Went in to purchase some self care product. The young lady at cosmetics was extremely rude and made a simple purchase experience miserable.

Since the opening of the safe injection site around the corner, this pharmacy has been frightfully busy. Be prepared to wait up to an hour for your prescription to be filled.

IDK about parking, but I went into shoppers thinking I could get a nice bottle of burgundy or white essie nail polish, come to find out there was just a small tray at the bottom of a cosmetics stand which only had the disco theme.

I really hope shoppers drug mart hire better pharmacist, they are rude and disrespectful. One day i went there trying to get help because i was going through my high blood preasure phases and all i needed was medicine that would get me till next day so i can go to clinic instead hospital. I was told by a helper to sit in the consultation room and next thing im getting yelled at by the pharmacist and being told loblaws can help.

So disorganized & inept. Left me hanging [no sound] for 15 mins after going thru 3 people to inquire if they have a Vitamin brand. When I called back they were rude & cut me off as I was repeating the request & when I tried to stop a 4th transfer she had the nerve to say I was rude & hung up on me. I have spent a fortune here but will now go elsewhere. It is also in a vagrant drug infested area that has deteriorated. Good riddance.

It's in my neighbourhood, and quite a convenient location. The store has pretty much everything, and their groceries section keeps growing.

Tips:
Great Optimum Plus points deals, make sure to check them before you shop.
Parking at the back side of the building
No crazy lineups either.

So far, there are 2 times bitter experience in this location since we moved to this area about one year. First time, it was in the post office. The lady who worked there the other day just didn't bother to explain anything to you. Today, I brought back an eye cream worth only less than $30 which obviously has quality issue. But they refused to do anything. In contrast, I bought electronic toothbrush in another Shoppers. After 6 months, I brought it back because of quality issue. They refunded me the full amount and the lady who worked that day was very nice and helpful. What a different services! Definitely, I'll never visit the Shoppers on Rideau beside Pizza Pizza.

I have just experienced a nightmare with this postal station. I would stay away from doing anything with them as much as possible. They simply do not know what they are doing with one possible exception - mailing a letter. I am in a vicious cycle of having purchased an item on Amazon and given choices of where to send it. One was this station - logical as it is close to where she lives. They have not released the parcel even though we have give two signed approvals that Amazon uses. They in turn requested a letter from Canada Post in Alberta - not sure if anyone has tried to get one of those, but it is impossible.so moral.stay away from mailing anything to this PO station if you want to keep life simple.
