ShrimpFever Aquarium

I had a delivery of shrimp made in one day, all 20 shrimp died because they sent it incorrectly. I have to pay $45-60 shipping again to possibly receive 20 dead shrimp. They don't want to refund even if they made a mistake. With there policy, they could send dead stuff to encourage you to reorder again using a credits. I could not have received the package faster, there was nothing special that could have caused it other than a mistake on their side.

Shrimp Fever has been a godsend to me!
They have everything you need for your fish and shrimp. Their livestock is healthy, colourful and very active. Our local pet stores don’t have the selection like Shrimp Fever does. The Pet store AngelFins in Guelph recommended Shrimp Fever to me and I am so grateful. You won’t be disappointed in Shrimp Fever

This store is such a warm and comfortable place, the owner has two dogs that will come greet you as you enter the store and will follow you around, they are absolutely adorable! And their selections of fish, and shrimp and all sorts of aquatic species are amazing! I highly recommend this place because they are also very knowledgable. Definitely go to your local aquarium stores and support them! Will definitely return.

Just received my 6 Amano shrimps today as promised. After Esther suggested an hour of drip acclimating they were netted and released into my 10 gallon tank. Seem to be settling in well!

If you are interested in nano aquariums this is the only store for you. They have a huge array of small fish and crustaceans fir the aquarium enthusiast. Low priced shrimp for beginners like myself and a few rare and expensive ones, with everything in between. I went there fir shrimp and the sheer volume of choices was amazing. Great people and a great shop.

I would never shop here again. I've had multiple issues with this place.just shop elsewhere.

My order came in with 5 dead fish. I did not report it because you do not keep records of DOA credits, and also will not be ordering again anyway. I have been to the store, tax exempt not accepted. Pretty easy to verify who someone is these days, it says that on the guidelines you sent me, especially if you keep a record of your customers. Get your timestamps right, I emailed previous to placing order, didn't wanna wait for response. Wish i could have not placed order. Just left a sour taste in my mouth. And of course you blame me for your shortcomings.

Ok, so that doesn't apply here. Those fish are likely not domestic nor tamed. I don't keep them for companionship nor pleasure, it's not like I've named them. The fish themselves could also be kept as food for other animals. I keep them for spiritual and mental health reasons, so basically medicine for my soul. I, as a Native Indigenous person have alot of baggage that I carry. Years ago my people have been the target of genocide, and racism still to this day. I know you probably can't relate to what that feels like. But it kinda feels like an elephant sitting on your chest, making it hard to breathe, making everything you do harder. I have never had to argue about using my status card before, and I've been using it for almost 30 years. I could go on and on, but to be honest, I'm not going to because I'm not the one standing there pointing fingers, with their chest out.
As for DOAs, it's your company not mine. I can't give myself credits, or create and process them. That would be your companies responsibility, why would it have anything to do with me. I didn't lose them, as is your example, you didn't keep track. Email reply said something along the lines of, we will apply credit on your next order. If it had been a gift card let's say, if I had lost it, no problem that's my fault. But clearly that wasn't the case. You claim that I have redeemed credits previously, which hasn't been the case, I have not redeemed credits previously. I totally understand that DOAs happen, unfortunate but it does happen. But I'm not going to report it, if I don't intend on ever using the credits, why waste my time. Yes that was totally my decision.
It was my choice to go through with the order, and I made the decision to do just that. I'm just saying that if I had to do it over again, I wouldn't have made the same choice. Say what you want but I'm done replying to you. Take care!

We went here to pick up some new cherry shrimp. They had so much variety in shrimp alone, let alone all the moss and plants. I felt like a kid in a candy store. They also had some beautiful Bettas, guppies and other fish. We got a fair bit of advice too that we will be using in the future for our aquariums. It's a bit of a hike for me, but definitely worth the trip for the quality of product and very friendly shop owners!

I’m all the way in Vancouver and decided to order a platinum white betta from Shrimp Fever. He was shipped when weather was pretty rough, and arrived in -1 weather.

Though, he was packaged incredibly well (heat packs, well insulated box.)

Since having him for several weeks now, he’s been doing great. He’s very healthy, and extremely active, almost like he never went through any shipping stress.

Also, customer support from the team was fantastic.

What a beautiful store! It was the cleanest one I’ve been to in the GTA and the fish/shrimp all look well taken care of and healthy. I love that they sell substrate/aquasoil by the pound which is helpful for nano tanks instead of buying a big bag. They have botanicals as well as live plants, so it was a one stop shop for aquascapers!

The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and kind with customers. Can’t wait to go back for more!

Fish and Shrimp are kept well, I've bought several different species from here. They have all been healthy, happy and I've had no complaints! Highly recommend stopping in here. This place is a top tier shrimpstore for those looking for one. They specialize all different types of shrimps, food, and various types of supplements. Staffs are very knowledgeable and helpful. I highly recommend for shrimp hobbyists. They have lots of ongoing promotions so check them out too!

I started coming here 2016 because of my curiosity with introducing shrimps into my fish tank. I love their selections shrimps, fish, aquarium accessories, plants and tank foods! They are the best!

From start to finish, the gentleman that helped me was beyond knowledgeable and friendly. I wouldn't recommend any other place than here to buy fresh water shrimp, snails, interesting fish, and crabs.

Professional and content expert customer service and exceptional collection of any-shrimps-you-look-for inventory, any support product or and service is what you get in this store. This is a shrimps directory or a shrimps Wikipedia that you should not miss if you are a pet shrimps lover. They are in a convenient location please just pay one visit for see-for-yourself. I am sorry that I was this late to discover this gem of a place.

I found this place by accident but it's fantastic, everyone is friendly and knowledgeable and the fish are very healthy, very clean and I can find things I've not been able to find anywhere else. Plus there are dogs. Definitely love this place.

Excellent customer service and offers some very cool and unique fish that are very hard to find elsewhere Only sugestion would be to add live fish stickers to packages to make sure they are handled gently. Will definetley be ordering from here again!

I received fish with ich! I have 14 aquariums and have been fortunate not to have had ich until now. Purchased least raspboras for my shrimp only tank. It was clear right away fish were sick. Contacted shrimp fever they responded with ich is present in every aquarium and offered to sell me medication. I provided photos of fish. They responded with we don't sell sick fish. They acknowledged the fish have ich, but they weren't sick when shipped. 1 day shipping and 1 fish completely covered in spots when received. I have spent many hundreds of $ on livestock with this company. This isn't the first issue I have had with them but it will definitely be the last.

RESPONSE TO SHRIMP FEVER REPLY.

You must have me confused with someone else. I never received DOA shrimp. As for shipping I live an hour away and receive shipment next day. Paying more $ for shipping will not get it here any faster so just an excuse to charge more $. For how covered fish was in spots when received, it was clearly sick before shipping.

You claim to have offered replacement with next order if I paid more for shipping? That was months ago when I received a DOA fish. Nothing was offered regarding this shipment other than to sell me meds. The extra for shipping for what purpose. Same amount of time in transit. Other issues it didn't bother to bring to your attention because I knew you would do nothing about it. 3 hillstream loach in a tiny bag. As you must know they require a lot of oxygen. 2 out of the 3 died within 12 hours, the other has recovered and is doing fine. I felt I needed to bring the rasboras to your attention because I'm sure the rest of your tank is infected. Your response was immediately defensive. If that is how you would like to treat your good paying customers, then you should expect a bad review. Other fish keepers have a right to know how you conduct yourselves. You offered me nothing for this shipment, why lie about that?

Did you take the time to read email correspondence between Esther and I before you posted a response? I didn't require assistance in diagnosis of fish. I communicated I received fish with ich to which she responded we don't ship sick fish.

I've not had to deal with ich, but am aware of what it is. She didn't have to explain it. I did not refuse to treat fish? I asked what she would recommend in shrimp tank. I simply said I would purchase meds locally which I did.

What has upset me about this was the the reaction to my communication regarding receiving fish with advanced ich. The defensive response to not shipping sick fish and how ich is always present etc. The response I would have expected is I'm sorry that has happened, and thanks for bringing this to our attention. Perhaps a recommend treatment in shrimp tank. An offer to replace any losses. Also the untrue statements made here have frustrated me to no end.

You are correct, I was not aware higher shipping rate would provide larger box and more water. Esther didn't take the time to mention that when I said I didn't see the logic due to same transit time. That information would have likely changed my shipping option.

I did not say hillstream loaches were DOA. I Said 2 died within 12 hours. Perhaps someone could have mentioned my order was pushing the limits. I don't ship fish, so that would be up to you to communicate. Why communicate this to you? Your policy is clear as you stated.

The shipping option was a 1 time conversation months ago regarding a DOA fish. Never came up again thoughout my many orders.

If a customer tells you they received fish with ich. Maybe don't blame the customer. It comes down to accountability and mutual respect.

Very friendly environment and cares about their customer as well as the fish. Kit was super helpful and knowledgeable, he shared many tips and advice for properly caring the fishes and plants in the aquarium and it helped me a lot as a beginner fish keeper. Got 5 pygmy corys from here and they are healthy and enjoying the new fish tank. I'd definitely go back to get more. Definitely recommend to check this place out!

So this was my first time ordering from Shrimp Fever and I want to give my honest review on how things went. Shrimp fever has a specialty in shrimp but I also noticed they have a pretty nice selection of nano fish that my LFS does not have. I ordered 12 green neon tetras, 10 pygmy cories and 10 Fire red Cherry Shrimp for my 20 gallon long. I selected the next day delivery because I'm about 5 hours away from where they are located and I wanted to make sure that all the fish and shrimp were in the bags for shortest time as possible. When I opened the package, there were a couple DOA shrimp but all the green neon tetras and cories were best quality I have seen. The DOA's i just contacted Tommy and he sorted it out for me since I got the next day delivery. My overall experience was really good. Tommy or whoever the staff that was on facebook with me were answering all my questions and they handled the DOA situation very well. My favourites from the order were the cories and the green neons which I find funny because they are called SHRIMP fever. Anyways I will order from them again sometime! Very very pleased!

The best store in Ontario (and beyond) to buy aquarium shrimp and other crustaceans, and everything related to these creatures. They also have a great selection of fish, aquariums, and aquarium equipment. Always great communication, and top-notch service!

We arrived 15 minutes before the place opened and didn’t realize they opened at 12. They still let us in and I was immediately fascinated by how beautiful the store was. The fish are extremely healthy and well kept (I did not see a single dead fish) and the costs are very close to big chain pet stores. I definitely will pay more for the good quality and healthy fish. Everyone was so kind and the dog was adorable! The fish are gorgeous! Best aquarium store I’ve ever been to. They definitely won a customer!

These negative reviews are nonsense. I knew nothing about shrimp as pet, but Tommy had the info I needed. They also helped me navigate the tedious and costly process of importing live animals into the United States. For sure, if you are in their neck of the woods, give them a try. Shrimp Fever has been around for years, and I don’t see any reason why they would be going away anytime soon. Thanks for your information and assistance

Tommy is a gem, after seeing this child posting negative about a company i feel I need to step up and defend a store i use weekly that’s upsets me because I have never been treated anything less than perfect at shrimp fever. Tommy we love you, your service is great and your selection and knowledge is beyond any other fish store out there not to mention u have 10 times the selection of our cute little shrimp then any other store out there. Great shop new location has more space. Lots of great rarities here things you won't find at the commercial stores. Checkout their website to see what they have in stock from fish, shrimp, snails, hardware, aquascaping materials. They even have been custom making plant ledges for plants.

Once I finally found the store I was amazed with the little shop. Very knowledgeable about their shrimps and all the products that they carried. If you visit this store you will not be disappointed. Picked up a brand new tank that was about 200 cheaper than big al's. Thanks again for the quick service and the directions

Shrimpfever is where i get all my shrimp. Im a moderator of a shrimp forum on Facebook so i know quality when i see it. They come packaged so perfectly and are always the healthiest. The communication from them also cannot be beat.

I want to start by saying that my shrimp arrived healthy and in a timely manner. Everything about the purchase started great - including the arrival. The shrimp were packed well and included heat packs to ensure that they arrived healthy.

The problem started before the shrimp actually arrived - I received a call from US Dept of Fish and Wildlife saying that my shipment was at customs and that it needed to be approved. In the end- I had to pay $118 for a fine for illegally importing these animals. What I thought was a good price and quality animals has ended up being costly and frustrating.

If you are in Canada - Go for it!
If you are in the US - Make sure that you know what you are getting into.

My go to spot for all things aquarium! Tommy and his staff give out aquarium advice like it's candy on Halloween. It's always an enjoyable experience shopping there. They have a wide variety of invertebrates (shrimp, crabs, snails etc.) and fish suitable for nano aquariums. Tommy is also open to special ordering any species that might peak your interest. I rest easy knowing that when I purchase fish or shrimp from Shrimp fever that they are always healthy and thriving. I rarely, if ever, have any deaths from any livestock that I purchase from here. If I ever have any issues, Tommy is always there to help. Prices are excellent, especially on kits and for the quality of the livestock. They also carry specialty items that aren't available at other fish stores that I have visited. Overall a great shopping experience.

Solid company. Owner is a great guy, incredibly knowledgeable and great at helping customers. Even when they're busy you know they'll get you what you need and answer every question.
Great product selection and they constantly get a couple new things every month so you always get to see and try new things.

I know of 4 other places in the GTA that sell shrimp and Shrimp Fever crushes them all by leaps and bounds.

I had to order online as I don't have a means to get to their location but Tommy was very helpful and kind. Shrimp came in great condition!

This shop is a hidden gem. I wish I found them sooner. Firstly the guys working were very friendly and helpful. They had a great assortment of shrimp and nano fish. Even fish supplies, plants, soil etc were top notch. Lots of things I can't find anywhere else. I was apparently there on a low stock day, so I'm curious what they have when they get a shipment. You can tell it's run by hobbyists with a passion.

I find their aquatic plants very healthy. They all survived the transition to my tank without melting so I’m very pleased. I order plants online and go to other bigger LFS and I receive them all healthy but they would eventually melt on me. Not the ones I purchased from Shrimp Fever. They are thriving in my tank.

I have ordered off ShrimpFever multiple times, haven’t had any issues and the shrimp i recieved were all alive. Tommy is also very helpful with any questions you have! Definitely recommend to anyone!

Amazing little store for aquarium enthusiasts! While the place may not look like much from the outside, they have a huge selection of invertebrates (shrimps, crabs, snails) and some hard to find fish species! The animals are separated into different grades, and you can find some high quality aquarium animals here. The tanks in the store are extremely clean, and you can tell the animals have been taken care of properly. Make sure you check out the pom pom crabs, they are very cute!

Tommy from shrimp fever answered all of my questions and i received my order on time. I am so happy with all the supplies and livestock i ordered from them and had 0 dead on arrival all the way to edmonton! 17 shrimp, 4 emerald rasboras and 2 neon gobies survived the trip in -20 weather so im impressed and trust the people working at shrimpfever. Great online selection also as they had some livestock i couldnt find anywhere else in Canada. Thanks you guys

First, I am not the fish enthusiast, just the driver for the person, lol, but, having said that, I thought it was a good little independent fish place. Clean, small but seemed well organized. They really do have mainly only shrimp species, as the name would suggest. But they have a few varieties of other fish and even various live plants for your aquarium. The staff seemed to know what was necessary for the well-being and maintenance of the living things in the shop.

I took some time before writing a review for this company. In terms of communication they are very promptly. I had a bad experience with Shrimp Fever and UPS mixed all together. I ordered some fish and shrimp and because of bad weather conditions mixed with some late update of UPS site follow updates my fish and shrimp arrived all dead. I wrote back to Shrimp fever crew and initially they refused any type of accommodation. After they did offer some compromise that I couldn’t accept. Pros: they will promptly answer you, cons: they do not respect their word. To make long story short they promised me an investigation with UPS. After several calls at UPS I sadly found out that no investigation was ever opened (I have emails in support). Also Shrimp Fever menaced me with legal action if ever write a bad review. I friendly reminded them the freedom of speech is constitutionally guaranteed. I am sure they work hard to build up a name and my review is not intended to destroy it. I am sure they have great quality products and they are doing their best to fulfill their clientele expectations. However if I could suggest one thing: ask them to offer you pick up in your local UPS store. That makes things so easy and creates a win-win situation on both sides: vendor and buyer.

The only element missing in this whole story is the 3rd delivery party of which existence I wasn’t aware when I initially placed my order. About 3rd delivery party activity and main role I was only informed when problems occurred.
Moreover I strongly believe that as a client I was supposed to be informed about all risks related to a 2nd hand delivery handling risks when I placed my order for livestock. (Anyone should be right away informed about it from the get-go).
That never happened, unfortunately.
Right after placing my order and choosing 2 -3 days shipping option I received an email from Tommy advising me that the fish would not do that well on that long shipping period and so I was asked / suggested to pay around another 20 and something CAD on top of what I have already paid for in order to ensure my DOA guarantees for 1 day shipping. He convinced me, and I paid for it. No questions asked.

Looking back, I am now wondering on what exactly have I spent my savings? Livestock and shipping fee all in all around 100 CAD. Except for a snail (3 CAD) all my order arrived dead. Now I understand why.it got lost between 2 layers of shipping and a
lack of pertinent information.

Pretty good place to find interesting shrimp and plants. Price on shrimp are pretty good, always keep an eye out for sales. Most of the shrimp are labelled easy, but imo some would be considered moderate difficulty - I might not be the best example though.
Plants are a little expensive but I consider it a tax for supporting the hobby

I got my Betta fish here and he is still happy and swimming! He was the only Betta left though, this store specializes in shrimps rather than fish.

Even though I only bought 6 of the very least expensive cherry shrimp (so like $8 total), every time I’ve had any questions or problems with my tank since then, Tommy has helped me troubleshoot my tank over email. I will always go here for shrimps, snails, or any accessories! There is a huge selection of shrimps and they all look so healthy (unlike at other fish stores).
