Silk Road Kabob House

Very good restaurant focused on kebabs. I had the beef kofta kebab and the lamb shank already. Both are extremely good and rice has several spices that really being out the flavor. The portions are good-sized. The only problem was that the clothes had a really strong food smell after we left the place.

Food is not only expensive, but also not delicious compared to much better food served in neighborhood.
Salad served in combination with rice and chicken Tikka plate which made everything missed up and nearly tasteless and unattractive to eat food.

Had the barg-kofta kabob…it made my day! Delicious food, welcoming atmosphere, and fantastic service.

I waited 30 minutes for a tofu wrap, without any heads up whatsoever. People were waiting so long and when they tried to leave they were told it would be ready in 2 minutes. Which, you might imagine, was not true.

My wrap was so poorly wrapped the sauce seeped through the paper bag and exploded into my bag. The wrap itself was not good at all. The flavours were very unmatched and it felt like a weird attempt at just throwing a vegetarian option out there.

The meat dishes might be good but I don't suggest this if you want a tofu wrap.or don't like waiting 30 minutes for a wrap.

Nice location. Staff was very friendly and helpful in explaining what's in the dishes. After much thinking, I ended up ordering the lamb shank, it was very good. Generous serving. Arash and the crew gets 5s. It was very encouraging to see an employee eating the lamb shank as well. I witnessed the interactions between the staff and the other customers, the staff is so nice to everyone. I highly recommend this place and will be back.

We threw out one of orders by accident and they were kind enough to make us another one free of charge. Very kind and understanding staff!

In the pictures, the restaurant looked great. But in reality, it was bad. The service and staff were great. When it came to the food that’s where stuff went bad. I ordered the half chicken meal. The bread was slightly cold and was microwaved. The rice looked old and it was very oily. The chicken was dry and a bit tough. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant.

Food was great, we usually ordered kofta and chicken tandoori with rice, portion was good. Service was a bit slow but food always served fresh.

The best vegan kabob meal I've ever eaten! Both the kabob and the rice were absolutely delicious! I'll definitely be ordering again.

The food was really good and great service. They even have vegetarian options which include skewers (beyond meat and paneer). The hospitality was amazing. They gave me a prayer mat and a room to pray in. Jazakallah khairan, Allahumma barik!

The kabob was tasteless and very bland. On top of that it was very expensive and the kabob was very small portion. Save your money elsewhere.

Amazing place. Sadam, the chef, is an amazing guy. Very friendly and humble. The food is always fresh and tastes amazing!

Excellent lunch spot, probably for dinner too. Had the tandoori and koftka platter, it's A LOT for one person! The meat was cooked perfectly, not dry and had a really flavour to it. Definitely recommend this place, the other positive reviews don't lie!

Nice kebabs, and the eggplant dish, very flavorful. I really loved the Phirni, really good.
Although I wish it was chilled, would have been nicer. Also, please check the produce for the salad, I think the cucumber was a bit off.

I am visiting from the states in an area that doesn’t have many halal food options. We were only here a couple days and really wanted to take advantage of having so many halal restaurants nearby. Stopped at this place for lunch and boy did it not disappoint. The man behind the counter was very kind and friendly. They definitely take pride in sharing their food with others. I had a chickpea dish and my husband had lamb shank. We were both very satisfied. I want to stop by one more time before I leave to give another dish a try. The chickpeas were so flavorful, the lamb shank was falling off the bone and so tender, rice was cooked perfectly. A very simple and casual restaurant with great tasting, quality food.

I was debating whether I should go here or not, but then I took a chance. Upon entry I was greeted by the owner, and asked how I was doing instead of “can I take your order” very humble man. The restaurant was neat, clean and very organized. Unlike other typical restaurant, I didn’t lose my appetite upon entry. I craved more. The menu is very simple and photos make it easy to choose what I wanted. After I got a chicken tandoori wrap, a baklava, and a bottle of water with very reasonable price, I was surprised how good the food tasted. It was very authentic, fresh and full flavour and juicy. I would definitely go again next time I’m hungry.

The meat was not cooked, salad was old and brown, service not that great, we spoke to the owner and the cook started to argue and didn't belive us even though we showed him the undercooked meat

I have been there several times, as a matter of fact. It is among one of my favorite restaurants. The most authentic Afghan cuisine you can find in downtown Toronto, chef Saddam Hussain is a culinary expert with a distinctive smile
I have tried almost everything from their menu, indulging in there food is always a blast!

I have enjoyed many different types of foods here and never got disappointed even once. Omar, and Sadam are doing a very nice job. Lamb shank and half chicken meals are my favorite ones, suggest everyone to give it a try one day.

The best chicken kabob in town. Use the sauces. Always a great meal here. Great people running the shop, honest spot to get a tasty meal.

I waited 30min for one wrap. Restaurant was not busy there was only me and one other guy. Food was okay, the sauce was little bit sour for me.

I've tried many Afghan restaurants but this one, by far, is the best. Great customer service and delicious food! Will definitely come again.

This is one of my favourite hidden gems! Very rarely do kebab places have food that tastes as incredible as it smells, and this place always delivers to that promise. Staff is super sweet too. The lamb soup reminds me of wedding food, and even the spiced rice served with any of the kebabs is incredible on its own. The food takes a while to be made, and while that's the only drawback, I guess it's worth the wait because it's so fresh and flavourful. The meat is tender and juicy, spice levels appropriate, and for those who don't have a heavy sweet tooth, the baklava is perfect.

Have been coming here frequently in the last month. Fair price and friendly place. My personal favourite is the lamb soup, for 9 dollars, it is filled with lamb and vegetables, very filling for a lunch. I also fancy their kabob wraps, they are generous in putting meat in their food. The owner (maybe the chef?) runs a really honest restaurant!

LOVE THIS PLACE! At most you'll pay $17 for a fairly good amount of food, I got the tandoori chicken and kofta dinner. This came with the tandoori chicken kabob, kofta kabob, a rice, a salad and a piece of naan. This is a fair amount of food for $17, when considering other places near by. On top of the fair amount of food, the food also taste superb. The protein of your meal is cooked beautifully and provides a mouthful of flavour, everything but for the rice is back to basics. The salad and the naan are your basic salad and naan, but this is amazing because there is no need for this extra over the top add ons. This lets the protein of the meal really shine and be the focal point. The meat is also cooked/heated up to order so you know your meat is going to be getting that great char taste. The customer service is also amazing here, great hospitality and very social. It's like walking into an Afghan aunt's house and she's there to welcome you.

Excellent meal, excellent service despite, having to navigate a large, difficult table of 10. I would definitely recommend this resturant.

Simply delicious. I had the chicken & kofta meal for take out and I enjoyed every bit of it. It is a bit pricy at $15 before taxes but they portion size is very generous and filling. Definitely worth a return visit to try other dishes.

Next visit ate in and I had the Lamb Shank. So very delicious! Very generous portion. I am very happy now. Worth the price. I The restaurant is cold (winter time during this review) and they put space heater to keep it warm. This place always had problems with temperature control long before Silk Road took it over but don't let that discourage you from visiting.

It has been a couple of years now and taste, quality and portions are very satisfying. Price is higher (after Covid lockdown) but still worth it.

As a vegan I was a little sceptical to go to a kebab restaurant but there are many options Tofu, Chickpeas and even beyond meat.
I loved the food, will come back!

If you want to come here for lunch make sure to order ahead because it can take around 20 minutes your order.

This place is definitely considered slow food but it's all really well made. The rice is fragrant and the kebobs are done perfectly. If you have the time to spare then check it out. I'd recommend the lamb over everything else though.

Huge portions and some of the best afghan food I've had (besides homecooked). Blows Bamiyan out of the water. Staff are very friendly.

Very tasty kebabs! I say that as someone who was born and raised in Central Asia, eating kebabs all into my teen years! Appreciate the vegan options, including tofu kebabs and Beyond Meat kebabs. Comes with spice rice, side salad and naan. They also had some additional vegan dishes like bolani (stuffed flat bread - we tried those = delicious!), aushak (leek dumplings), borani (eggplant dip) plus wraps and salads. And even more vegetarian options! The service was lovely, I really appreciated the employee at the front walking us through the available vegan options. The space itself is modest but has ample seating and has some items on the walls showing Afghan culture & history. Lovely place to visit and support overall — I’ll definitely be back.

Delicious food! We had the lamb shank and the whole chicken. Food portions are massive, we were able to have lunch and dinner from one portion. Food is authentic Afghan food and tastes homemade. Highly recommend it!

Fantastic food. No complaints whatsoever. I got takeout and it was prepared in a timely fashion. A great addition to Toronto's food scene, and a must-try! Won't be your last time either.

I love this place. Best food ever. Owner makes his own custom bread and has his own homemade secret sauce recipe he only knows of. These are the type of places I love to visit when I'm in Toronto. Great quality food hands down.

We as a office have been eating Silk Road for years! Lovely service and great healthy tasting food! Highly highly recommend all the way from Whitby ON! Best Afghan food in Toronto, Hands down!

Great bang for your buck. Qorma was delicious and the size was immense for $10. I will certainly be remembering this place on future trips to Toronto
