I could give minus to service if i had that option! Food is ok, but bland when compared to what I have seen in Persian/Iranian restaurant in Dubai. But the worse part is the service, its like they are running a scam like when you order something they give you something else (extra) innocently assuming you would want that and when confronted and ask for refund they just have one excuse come later and talk to the owner/manager which is like 2 to 3 days later. HORRIBLE STAFF
The food here was absolutely incredible. You wouldn't necessarily think of it, because it's tucked away in a strip mall and looks like nothing from the outside, but trust me, it's worth a visit! We shared a number of different kebabs, which were served with rice and salad, and had a starter of hummus and one of the eggplant dips from the appy menu, served with the MOST delicious "Silk Bread" (slightly crispy naan). The flavours were absolutely drool-worthy, and the service was super friendly and homey. Also, great prices for the amount of food we ended up with - worked out to only about $40/person including tip. Really glad we gave it a try, we will definitely be back!
I visited Silk Road restaurant a couple time, each for lunch and dinner, order the PERSIAN SOLTANI KABOB, a Skewer of Barg & a Skewer of Koobideh Kabob (Beef Shami), and LAMB COMBINATION a Skewer of Lamb Kabob & a Skewer of Chicken Kabob, with a cup of black tea (with cardamom). They didn’t disappoint, easily one of the best kabobs I have ever tasted, and I’ve been to Mediterranean and countries around it. The rice was excellent as well! Service was good and not very busy or perhaps I always came during off hours. It’s my favorite restaurant if I visit Ottawa again.
Over-marinated meat for kebab. Felt like the meet had been sitting there for at least a week. We ordered Torsh kebab and Lamb tikka. Neither were good enough for us to finish.
Waited over 20 minutes and no one assisted us. When we tried to order and said we were hungry, the server was extremely rude to us and said everyone is.
If they are understaffed they could have at least apologized for the wait or talked to us with respect. I did not appreciate the horrible customer service, never experienced that in any restaurant before.
Waited 10 minutes to be seated when they had two empty tables. Then we waited an extra 20 minutes just to order, and even then the person waiting the tables (possibly the owner) was giving us attitude. Good food, but not worth the poor customer service and bad treatment.
The food is very good. The rice is soft and well cooked, the meat is offered medium rare well cooked etc and is very juicy. The chicken is also well cooked (as in tasty) and juicy. The naan is a mix of soft delicateness and crunch. The service wasnt the fastes but its understandable considering the main foods are made of meat. Its also very considerate of them to have several vegetarian dishes. The atmoshpere is a 4 because its confortable but slightly too loud for my comfort.
The quality of food was great. Everything were fresh and delicious. Just the Koobideh was a bit salty. Also Salad Shirazi was more onion salad. They can improve these easily later. Also the tea was a bit cold and they could serve it with Nabat or cookies to improve the quality.
Waitress was great and so kind, Kurdish lady. However, if you are hungry don’t go there because food was not enough on your plate. So make sure go to pizza restaurant first or after because this restaurant just charge you not give you for what you paid. I don’t recommend it.
Very good food in an understated and relaxed environment with friendly service. We had the Mantu, lamb shank stew, and Silk Road salad and all were delicious.
The restaurant signed close at 8 pm and we be there at 6pm, the lady said they close soon, I said the sign showed close at 8pm, then she said the restaurant is full but actually only three groups of customers inside. She just don't want to serve us.
Nicely seasoned rice, protein, and sides. The server was happy to help us decide what to choose from the menu based on our food preferences, and asked us if we wanted anything else.
They have to update their website for the correct opening time. Also they only deliver or take out. They hand u the food through a hole very disrespectful and no transparency in their food handling!
I've tried a few Persian restaurants in Ottawa and this one is by far my favourite! Love the Koobideh dinner. Great tasting food and great customer service! I recommend trying it out.
One of our favorite Persian restaurants in Ottawa! We’ve tried most items on the menu and everything tastes delicious! The owners and staff are very nice and care about their customers. Prices are fair and parking is available on site. Definitely would recommend Silk Road!
This place is definitely not like it used to be, I was really disappointed with the quality of the food that I received! Compared to other places it's a lot more expensive and their prices seem to always change, but I went because I've been a fan for years, however this time when I ordered, the meat (tikka) was barely marinated, maybe with just SOME salt, didn't seems like it was grilled much it was super soft and was really bland I had to pour their red sauce to give it taste, and they used to have delicious rice which used to be made in a bit of oil or something and made them stand out from other restaurants but this time all I got was just regular rice, nothing special about it. With the amount I speant I was honestly really disappointed. Unfortunately will not be returning again, I'll have to find another favourite spot.
