I camped here with a large number of my friends and found it to be a very clean park. It is also well patrolled.
15 September 2023 21:56
Great camping place, bathroom and showers are kept clean. Some campsites are very close to each other so need to watch if you want the space between. They are serious about noise complaints. The water and activities are great. Lovely sunset as well, would recommend!
26 August 2023 21:12
Small provincial park.we were at Poplar Campground and we could barely heard the traffic in daytime but at night the cars is soo loud! The campsites is soo small, uneven and less privacy.some of them near cliff, big stones etc. Their activities as well like kayak and canoe is bit pricy compared to other provincial park like arrowhead.
26 August 2023 17:47
I'd give this park a 0 if I could. You couldn't pay me to go back here. The "comfort station" by the beach has only 2 flushable toilets and yet 8 showers. After checkout time on Labor day, they close four showers and one of the bathrooms. The other one is not cleaned well at all. At the moment it isn't working. A call to the office and surprise, surprise, no one is answering. I left a polite message so maybe they'll actually do something about it. I've been an avid camper for 30+ years. This has been the worst experience ever. It is a shame as it's beautiful. But they should either get their act together or just close this place down.
25 July 2023 15:48
Positives
-noticeable/friendly Ranger presence
-quiet lake, great for paddlers
-lots of beaches
-nice store on site
-clean comfort stations
Negatives
-small sites
-narrow roads making it difficult for kids/pedestrians/bikers
-weedy swimming areas
-can hear the 400 highway traffic at all times
24 July 2023 18:43
It was a beautiful spot. Trails to explore. A place to see countless stars in the night sky.
11 July 2023 3:34
Les terrains avec vue et accès au lac sont super. Malheureusement, on entends énormément l'autoroute de tous les terrains. Choissisez en conséquence.
29 June 2023 17:29
Great place to camp or just to go to for the day love it there. There is also a dog beach so you can still bring you furry friend.
28 October 2022 5:02
Love this provincial park! The staff were kind and helpful. The park is maintained so beautifully. Great job!
13 October 2022 16:50
Awesome park! Nice private campsites.
Do hear a bit of the highway; but perhaps this depends on where in the park you stay.
11 October 2022 14:29
Nice, small park. Dog beach was great! Day use are was nice. Lots of watercraft available. I didn't camp but the sites didn't seem very private. Gate staff was friendly.
10 October 2022 12:05
Great park, our kids had lots of fun at the beach. Only downside was our campsite very small and not a very good layout. Otherwise great trip!
01 October 2022 13:54
Pet Beach lacked some sand. It was a little muddy, it needed more picnic tables for families with pets like the main Beach, also would be SUPER convenient if they put a gate to separate the Dog beach from the other beach, because people just crossing without knowing that is a off-leash area and some got mad cuz found out that dogs were running around.
Very bad experience also because the park use the dog beach for training campers or kids in the same beach and dogs are not really welcome. The Beaches are small and not big enough for adults to swim.
01 October 2022 12:41
Depends what you want to do there. The beaches there are small and so is the swimming area. They have some clean washrooms. It's not a bad place if you're looking to camp
01 October 2022 8:51
A beautiful park with some lovely little beaches and great hiking trails. Only complaint is that the highway can be heard from pretty much everywhere.
18 September 2022 4:10
Great family park with lots of fun activities to do while camping there, well-known for recreational boating and fishing. Many semi-private, waterfront, electrical and non-electrical campsites. Three sandy beaches, including designated pet beach. Playground and picnic areas with picnic shelter for rent. Canoe, kayak and standup paddle board. Three rugged hiking trails with beautiful scenery. Park store has a wide range of products available.

The only suggestion would be to go explore the campsites before you book, as each campsite is different; some are smaller and others are very narrow and muddy.
17 September 2022 18:09
The experience really depends on weather however it is purely luck factor as no one can forecast the weather in 5 months. Overall this park is good. The water is clean; can rent canoe kayak SUP board with reasonable price and this is not available in all parks. The comfort station can be better. Washroom is smelly. The highway traffic makes it noisy at night. But I slept better than ever, possibly due to the dry weather. So it is worth the visit.
16 September 2022 7:36
So crowded. Admittedly the beaches, waterfront is beautiful. Huge physical fight across from the site we visited, they were fighting and drunk the night before, and finally kicked out a day later with an OPP escort. Too long, provincial parks used to be stricter and better policed by park authorities but there aren't nearly as many as there used to be.
15 September 2022 2:04
Very nice park, it was beautiful. Campsites were laid out very well. Washrooms clean and maintained with shower stations as well.
14 September 2022 2:59
Not the best experience:
- food waste near edge of campsite from previous user (our dog almost ate a rib bone)
- beer caps all over site
- can hear the highway noise all day and night
- gravel site but drained well after torrential rain
- the smell of the composting toilet was almost unbearable when the camp filled up Friday (ammonia- Take your breath away)
- bring an axe - the firewood is larger pieces and wet
The good things were:
- dog beach is great to have
- boat launch/ramp dock all well maintained
- friendly staff
Very busy park, not very rustic (paved roads, gravel sites, etc.) We gave it a try but won’t be back unfortunately.
11 September 2022 14:46
Nice little park, close by to home for us. It would have been nice if the bathrooms and showers received more regular cleanings.
11 September 2022 2:53
It’s a nice lake, great for kayaking or canoeing but this is a pretty bad place to camp compared to other provincial parks. Highway 400 can be heard loud and clear throughout the park and on the lake, and it’s very noticeable at night. It’s a bit like camping under a bridge. I guess this is what we get for being less than 2 hours from Toronto.

The campsites are small, and fairly poor quality (bumpy, slanted), and many are right next to the main road.

The beaches are decent. Water is warm, and there are lots of boats to rent.
05 September 2022 13:58
Unfortunately it is right by the highway so you hear traffic all night long, otherwise an industrial size campground with lots of activities for families and decent sites. Pricey though, almost $70 for an electric and water site including the $12 reservation fee, then more $$ for wood.
03 January 2022 18:28
Great time with family and friends here. Had lunch after a morning out on the lake with the kayak. The picnic tables lakefront was a plus! Family caught some Sunfish and Perch. The hiking trails were great despite all the mud from the rain the night before. Unfortunately, due to the parks location; you do pick up sounds from the highway. Park warden and staff are very nice. Lots of room at the boat launch. Will definitely come back for canoeing or fishing on the kayak!
16 December 2021 14:10
If you are coming for camping, most of the sites are quite small and there's not much privicy (too closely with each other and not much bush or tree between).
The worst part is the noise from the highway 400, it's so loud and make you feel you are a homeless person sleeping in an encampment under a bridge with high traffic day and night, the only difference is you paid for it. (´;︵;`)
l can't sleep well every night and woke up so often by the loud noise from the traffic in the middle of the night. Some time I even wonder whether there is a jet plane is taking off?
But don't make me wrong, actually I like this place very much. Well equipped and clean facility, beautiful nature scence every where. I think I will find some quieter spots when I come back next time. ᕙ (͡°‿ ͡°) ᕗ
27 November 2021 21:31
There are some pretty cool tent camping sites but I found the electrical sites for trailers had very little privacy. It's not a large camp ground and due to the rain just before we went our campsite had a stream running right through it. The water was really murky and weedy if you went past the designated area but it was still really nice to swim in, it was also a good lake for canoeing (but you do have to watch and make sure you understand how to canoe because there are alot of idiots that have cottages on the lake that almost flipped us a few times in their motor boats but that's not the parks fault). This definitely isn't my favorite park but it's still nice enough that you can enjoy a weekend here.
15 October 2021 17:38
Very good manner camp wardens.

I do there for day use only, so can't experience the campsites. The beach is nice. Canoe area is beside children playground n the beach. Very well maintain.

Boat launch area is good. People wait patiently.

Comfort station has been clean regularly.

Park store maintain social distance. I believe no cash during covid. Need to double check.

Thanks for keeping the campsites clean so people can enjoy the nature
22 September 2021 11:49
I found this Park less consistent in size and privacy of the lots. Some sites can be excellent but some can be size of a dime crumbling onto the next one. Some are separated by only a couple of symbolic rock stones. Beach can be crowded, lots of kids. Lake is great especially if you have a boat.
22 September 2021 7:04
What a great little Provincial park. Lots to see and do within a reasonable drive from the city.

3 beaches to swim at and a great playground for the kids. Rent a canoe and go exploring the lake, but remember. Six Mile lake is biggar than you think and can sometimes be challenging to paddle back in the afternoon.
31 August 2021 18:11
The beaches get packed quickly 98% of the sites are so close to the road, zero privacy. There are however 3-5 sites that are nice along the maple loop, we by chance got the most private off the road site regardless we were happy to only spend one night at this provincial park, 67$ for a truck and micro trailer under 12' after a week of back country glamping we were happy to get a shower and head to the next crown land spot. Found a couple spots nearby that you could park and sleep quietly for free just down the road, and do a day pass for shower access if frugal. 3 stars only because we got lucky on the site we got.
28 August 2021 17:36
Enjoyed our campsite except the severe caterpillar situation and one of the comfort station was closed as well.
26 August 2021 19:05
Awesome swimming in the lake! The short trail is great, a beautiful landscape to take nice photos on the rocks over lakes.
21 August 2021 12:09
If I can give 0 star, I wound give 0. Today is my family's first camping after covid-19. So my kids were very looking forward to do camping today. But we are now go back home. No space for tent. All campsite for us is totally wet! Not for just water. Water with disgusting oil!
17 August 2021 19:49
A camp site with all the facilities of washrooms, shower rooms and access to potable water. It has several beaches and trails of all varied lengths and difficulty levels.
It has volleyball court as well.
Its beaches where rather unclean as there was a lot of algae and weed.
17 August 2021 6:34
Extremely loud campsite as the park is right next to the highway
Extremely overpriced firewood ($15/pack)
14 August 2021 23:50
The main attraction of the park is the dog beach that is great for family fun. The comfort center is well maintained and clean. I think the camp site besides the lake are very good. Being situated right besides the highway, there are occassional traffic noise at night to break the tranquility. I won't say the park itself is beautiful but hiking in the nearby trails and lakes are.
14 August 2021 17:10
Pet Beach lacked some sand. It was a little muddy, it needed more picnic tables for families with pets like the main Beach. The comfort station had 1washroom but lots of showers. The smaller washrooms were clean and well maintained. The highway is nearby and you can hear it at night.
13 August 2021 14:58
Congusted, feel like camping on top of others, lack of privacy. Camp sites are small mostly. It is maintain fairly. 3 beaches and park for kids.
06 August 2021 2:21
We visit in August 2021, nice park, nice beach, easy registration and friendly staff. Lots of mosquitoes, makes setting up harder. Only two full functional bathrooms with shower so choose your lot carefully. Only one dump station and its far so a little inconvenient. Glad I visit, good experience
28 July 2021 1:50
Very nice park overall. Well organized. Excellent to spend quality time with family/Friends. Very friendly staff and the facilities are well maintained
The only thing I disliked was the caterpillars. They were EVERYWHERE. There were thousand of them. For us, it made camping a little uncomfortable.
Would I go to this park again? No. But it is only because of the caterpillars. For the rest, it was excellent. If it doesn't bother you, it is a very nice option
27 July 2021 23:30
Campsites are so small, not good for 3 tents.
Beach is small and just good for kids.
Having a small trail for hiking.
Vault Washroom was clean and not bad
15 July 2021 6:25
The ghetto of provincial parks.swamps surround you. Camps sites are small and over crowded.part of our camp site had water running in it like a ditch. Very noisy. Will not return to six miles
13 July 2021 1:09
Caterpillars everywhere, we set up our tent and in 2 minutes it's covered by minimum a hundred caterpillars. Couldn't sit or stand comfortably for one minute as hundreds of caterpillars were crawling towards us every moment.
28 December 2020 19:28
My only concern is there are tick infestation signs on the park and beach area.
Decent camp sites, wish we can move the fire pit.
23 November 2020 16:20
The sites are very close to each other. Washrooms where flush but missing a toilet seat.grafitti in thew washrooms from 2001 is still fresh as though the've never been repainted or scrubbed. Washrooms at our site where not cleaned once during our stay
24 November 2019 23:45
Nice place to camp. Some sites are rocky and uneven but if you pick well you can get the trailer in. Beautiful colours on Thanksgiving weekend.
22 October 2019 22:38
The lake is beautiful and spacious. Theirs two beachs for people and a pet beach which is awesome! Only the two main washrooms are flush so keep that in mind when you're booking sites.
22 October 2019 10:38
Very hard to find your way around the park and overcrowded on a long weekend. Would recommend awenda as it is much better park.
15 October 2019 20:18
Great camping, close to highway in the area we stayed. Would go back! Fishing, boating dog beach and regular beach. Park wardens a little agressive, had a group enjoying themselves (during the day) bridal party directly next to us, the previous night they stopped noise at quiet time no issues, but on mid day Saturday they where give 2 warning during same visit, a group of kids could have made more noise.
12 October 2019 1:25
We took part in the Learn to Fish program here and it was great! Allie was our instructor and she was so helpful from the info session, guidance and worming hooks etc. Note;
- there's a $15 day fee for the provincial park
- the provided children fishing rods are youth sizes. Feel free to bring your own kiddie ones.
- "day use" parking (non-overnight) is a small walk from the Learn to Fish area/docks. Instead of walking on the road, you can walk down to the Pet Beach, and keep near the bushes area (less sand/mud), walk to the watercraft rental area, then through the playground, and you should be near Learn to Fish.
02 October 2019 0:57
Great facilities, friendly/helpful staff, comfort station with flushable toilets and nice showers, decent trails, fun beach areas and our campsite was perfect. It's a great spot to hang out and have a relaxing weekend. If you're looking for long, intense trails and mind blowing scenic sights this wouldn't be the place to stay
01 October 2019 12:35
Nice place to spend a day being surrounded by beautiful nature. Six Mile Lake park and camping offers Boats rental, picnic tables, playground for kids, beach, dock for boats and water scooters, hiking trails, fishing, ponds, rocks, wildlife and campground, washrooms, showers, laundry site is available with washing machines.
27 September 2019 4:56
It was a good experience of first time I was camping staff behavior was very good I really appreciate. Thanks I hope I will go there again
24 September 2019 1:14
Campsites: 3/5
Some of the sites had gravel/rocks/roots which made for an uncomfortable sleep, but that’s to be expected if you camp frequently (also check online prior to booking). Electrical sites did not all have plugs - we had to use our neighbor’s, and our extension cord wasn’t long enough.

Amenities: 3/5
Seemed average. Most comfort stations were mediocre in cleanliness. Outhouses smelled especially bad in comparison to some of the other sites I’ve been to.

Attractions: 1/5

Hiking trail was fine. Highly advisable to bring boots as some parts are slippery/difficult to climb. Took 1h to go through all trails.

Canoeing was the killer in our weekend. With the size of the lake, we’d expected to spend an entire day canoeing through the lake. On the first day, the rangers told us it was too windy (it was ~25km/h) and that the lake was closed, despite immediately seeing multiple people on the lake with their canoes/paddleboats. As someone who canoes frequently, this is NOT windy - rather, it is pretty average. We checked the forecast for the next day - sunny, no clouds, 15km max. (For reference, that is a gentle breeze.) The next day when we came back to rent, the rangers told us that the wind was still really strong (15km/h?) and we could only canoe in the shallow pool area (circling it would take less than half an hour). Having picked the park solely for the canoeing it offered, I was extremely disappointed. I own a canoe - 15km/h winds are perfect weather for canoeing.
10 September 2019 21:04
Me and three friends came here this past weekend to camp.
We had a good experience here. We were only in the office for a few minutes getting everything ready and paid for before we were on our way.
We were given all the information we needed, any weather, animal or other warnings we needed as well. The staff were friendly and efficient.
The campsite was very clean when we arrived and the rules about keeping it tidy were clear and easy to understand.
The "comfort stations" (bathrooms + showers) were the cleanest I've ever seen on a campground. The outhouses spread around the camp were very clean as well and pleasant to use even though outhouses are rarely pleasant. The only negative thing we found is that the trails were not marked very well, we found ourselves getting confused by some of the arrows and signs.
But overall a very good experience!
10 September 2019 2:58
To much highway noise from highway 400, feels like you are camping in the city had to leave no peace and quiet here.
07 September 2019 15:51
Pros: . Nice lake and beach, newer washrooms and showers, parks store onsite

Cons: small crowded campsites, too close to highway so always noisy
07 September 2019 8:13
Did not like this park.sites too small and difficult to level trailer.will not return, also our site smelled of discarded fish guts.sickening.
01 September 2019 11:16
Very nice campground and washroom/shower facilities. Ideal for families with the lake, playground, and programs for children.
27 August 2019 3:14
The campsites are so close that you don't have much privacy. Beach and boat launch was amazing and park was clean.day trip a must.camping.if u don't mind seeing ur neighbour
26 August 2019 14:35
Warden Caitlin gave us a noise complaint at a site right beside a beach that had a lot of activity throughout the night. They already had the ticket issued in her mind and there was no discussion. I have never met a warden like this. Ticket was given at 11: 20pm and the Warden refused to give us a warning that night. We apologized, said we were talking by the fire with no music and didnt realize we were loud (I still do not think we were loud - we were right beside a beach where people were shouting and swimming at night.they were definitely loud). We begged for a warning. She stated that our warning was given Friday night. She came by once around 11pm on Friday. When trying to ask not to receive a ticket, the warden did confirm that we were quiet Friday night immediately after she left (came by only once friday) and that we were much quieter on Saturday than Friday night. A warning should have been given instead of an outrageous $180 ticket that is impossible to dispute without going to court.
26 August 2019 1:36
A lot of campsites to choose from. Many of the campsites are located close to unpaved road, so you have dust when the weather is dry. However, the park is close to highway 400, and you can hear 24/7 noise from there.
25 August 2019 16:04
We love camping here, it's such a beautiful park. The noise from the 400 traffic can be heard but not bothersome. The 3 beaches are sandy and the water is clear and always so nice.
