If your pet gets into OVC they are very lucky and truly in the best hands. My dog Shiloh suddenly got very Ill with a severe case of aspiration pneumonia on December 23rd. She was transferred from another emerge hospital to OVC on Christmas day where they fought for over a week to save her life. Every doctor I've spoken with was incredibly knowledgeable - they were able to answer my million questions with so much insight and no sugar coating. The receptionists were also very warm and wonderful. Shiloh comes home tomorrow and I'm just so grateful for the exceptional care she received at OVC where I'm certain they saved her life. Outstanding veterinary care and expertise and I'm so so grateful for them!

Although I lost my sweet girl at OVC, the care and compassion shown to us both will never be forgotten.

When our 11 week old cocapoo Romeo was diagnosed with the very deadly Parvovirus in October of 2022 we first took him to the Brampton Veterinary Clinic where they wanted $6000 upfront to treat him and gave us a 20% chance of survival. I wasn't satisfied with that and was told that the only place that could give us a better survival % was OVC in Guelph but we had to get a referral for $200 plus we paid over $500 for whatever they claimed to have done. Long story short we took him to OVC where it ended up costing us $4000 but the professionalism that we experienced and the compassionate way in which they took care of our little Romeo was absolutely amazing. It actually reminded me of our experience when I once had to take my younger daughter to Sick Kids Hospital. Such was our experience that I have no hesitation in recommending their services to anyone who has a pet that may need their expertise and care.
19 October 2023 19:56
Words cannot express how grateful we are for OVC. Their compassion and expertise is second to none and they were extremely helpful in a difficult time. Special thanks to Dr. St Jean and her team, who treated our cat as if he were their own.

Very disappointing. Our vet referred us for a neurology consultation. When we arrived we met with an intern who did not seem concerned with diet, anxiety issues or lifestyle, only the seizure disorder we were referred for. In hour 3 of the scheduled one hour appointment we were told the neurologist whom we never actually met was in a meeting and would see our dog shortly. Once our dog saw the neurologist we met again with the well meaning intern who recited generic text book passages and sent us on our way with the same advice we had received from our family vet. We were offered the option to get $4000 MRI to confirm he has the generalized seizure disorder that everyone involved seems to agree he has. Very unhappy that we paid $450 to have a consultation with a Neurologist that we never actually met and could not even ask any questions

The staff here are truly amazing and caring for your fur baby.unfortunately for us the prognosis ended up not being what we hoped for.but even up till the end of life her care was amazing.

Fantastic vet hospital/clinic. Brought our frenchie in for neutering and to fix his nose/breathing problem. The vet student who saw us initially was very pleasant, helpful and genuinely enthusiastic about her job and the animals she was learning to care for. The actual vet we saw after her was fantastic, explained the procedure in detail and broke done all the components so it was easy to understand. He answered all of our questions throughly and was a pleasure to deal with. I would definitely recommend this hospital/clinic for your furry friends wholeheartedly! 5/5

My dog was involved in an accident and fractured his femur. We were able to rush him to OVC and he received emergency surgery. They were great at first- the surgeon called me before and after his surgery and daily while he had to stay there, organizing a visit for us also. That is where my compliments stop- I have never seen or spoken to this surgeon again.

We have had 3 follow ups where I have not spoken to the same person. In my most recent follow up I was told the bone is not healing and my dog will likely need to have his leg amputated- I was told this while sitting in the lobby over the phone. I have spent the last 4 days trying to get them to send my vet the X-rays so I am able to get a second opinion. They booked him for an amputation appointment in 10 days and have not sent me any sort of follow up documentation- only a brief 5 min conversation over the phone.

Furthermore - their receptionist are just straight up lazy and rude. I have spent hours sitting there where I can hear them bash colleagues that have called in sick and complain about being short staffed. Honestly - if they didn’t spend so much time chit chatting and complaining they probably wouldn’t need 3-5 business days to return a voicemail.

I don’t think they are horrible however I would take everything they say with a grain of salt and probably get a second opinion before making any decisions based on what they say. It’s somewhat concerning to me that these people are training future vets - I have not received any compassion since paying my 10k bill.

The OVC saved my dog's life. My dog developed an autoimmune disorder that was destroying her red blood cells. They were extremely empathetic towards my wife and I, while we were quite upset, and they were always very transparent and understanding regarding the costs of the treatment. Thank you all very much for saving our puppy.

OVC has saved my rabbits life more than once. I cannot thank them enough! I don't know what i will do since this clinic has closed to exotic animals.

Working through a long weekend to help us with our baby girl Maggie the cane corso aka the goat puppy. Super happy and impressed with all that have helped us this weekend can't say thank you enough!

Compassion to our little Arrie and our family. Dignity and kindness despite losing the fight. Answers and heart through the end. So thankful we have an organization available to us that's so focused on the well-being of our fur babies.
Our sincere thanks for your kindness and dedication.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE! They do not even deserve one star. They do not care about your pet, they just rack up your bill so they can make lots of money. We were left with no answers and we lost our dog Stella.

Unreal experience. Horrible communication, most of the time I had to call them because they still hadn’t called us hours after they promised they would. We didn’t receive a final invoice from them until we got a statement 6 months later. Then I had to ask for the invoice and the invoice amount was wrong. Tried to get it corrected and they refused to follow through on what we had been told, and sent us now to collections after I asked to speak with someone else who could help us resolve our issues. I could go on and on about all our issues with OVC. All I wanted was Stella to get the care she needed, I didn’t care what it cost but I do not stand to be bullied to put way over what we had been told and promised.

Please do not send your loved pets here. There are better places if you choose to go to this level of care. Try anywhere else but here. Wish we had NEVER taken Stella here.

We have been treating our cat for an autoimmune disease for the last two years, and OVC always gives her the best care. Everyone is always very polite and helpful, and they are very knowledgeable and careful with the treatment.

I am an owner of six bunnies and my bunnies have been the patients of OVC for several years. Although two bunnies passed away under the care of OVC, I still choose to trust OVC.

Despite OVC claims that it is one of the top ten veterinary schools, OVC started using corporate management methods to hire VPs and other unnecessary staff a few years ago. OVC did a lot of huge advertisements and publicity, but OVC now said that OVC has budget constraints and is losing money. OVC chooses to close the Avian and Exotics specialty service.

The question is that because OVC closes the Avian and Exotics specialty service, intern students in the future cannot get any training opportunities to learn how to treat and save avian and exotics animals. How could those future veterinarians learn how to treat and save avian and exotics animals? How many avian and axotics animals could be misdiagnosed and died? How many students interested in this area could not find an intern opportunity or a job in this area in Ontario or Canada? The veterinary level in Ontario and Canada will not meet the professional standard in this area. Could the decision-makers of OVC undertake these serious and long-term consequences?

Since OVC sets a very high threshold for the admission of small animals, all patients must be referred by other veterinary clinics in order to have the opportunity to be admitted by OVC. I can understand that OVC must respect other private clinics since OVC is set up for training and educational purposes. However, because the thresholds are too high, many people do not know that they can bring their rabbits and other small animals to OVC. Resulting from this, OVC has limited revenues and could not make profits. This is a vicious circle and it is simple and clear. As a decision-maker should know the root of the issue.

I am very frustrated and angry that in the past many outstanding interns and professionals specializing in small animals such as rabbits had nowhere to turn and were forced to go south to the USA, due to the stupidity of the decision-making to close the Avian and Exotics specialty service. It causes us as innocent owners to suffer from the pain when we see our pets are sick and have nowhere to go. After closing down the Avian and Exotics specialty service, is OVC still qualified to be No. 1 in Canada? Is it still qualified to be ranked in the top ten in North America?

I believe that if the decision-makers of OVC could lower the threshold for animal admission, cut those fancy corporate management jobs, and with a slight increase in fees, the Avian and Exotics specialty service shall be able to continue to operate and survive. All pet owners would continue to trust OVC and these future veterinarians and students will look forward to joining it.

Please carefully re-evaluate this decision. It will not only have an impact on the income of OVC, but also on the physical and mental health and well-being of small animals. It also affects the profession and the future of veterinarians in Ontario and Canada.

Dr McCready is the kindest most compassionate human being and vet I’ve ever encountered Thank you OVC and many other vets and technicians as well as front desk staff Heather for looking after my bunny for the past few years
11 July 2022 6:09
Awesome staff so caring we showed up and our puppy had passed on the way there and couldn’t of asked for a better experience! Thank you so much for kindness the world needs more of people like this! Words can not express the kindness that was expressed
01 July 2022 15:11
Spent more time here than we ever wanted to, but they saved our poor little dog's life. Two weeks in ICU when no one else could take him, and several visits after, he pulled through. We knew then he was in the best hands possible. A difficult experience for us, but the staff are empathetic, and genuinely care about the pets they help. We got daily updates and they continue with his care to this day. Even though his condition is not curable, the team at OVC is giving us this precious extra time with him, allowing him a quality of life he would not have had otherwise. We are forever grateful to them.

This is where i will always go when my pups need anything serious done. They were great in every way. Definitely a lot more affordable than anywhere else. Thank you for taking care of Athena.
23 March 2022 23:26
We can’t extend our thanks enough for Dr MacIver, surgical intern Dr. Fox, vet student Luke and all staff involved in our dog Meatballs care. The whole process from reception to discharge after a two night stay was highly professional and made us feel confident in our decision to pursue surgery here. They went out of their way to ensure we have questions answered, regular updates and appropriate medications for a long recovery. Having had previous major surgery at another institution and now a second surgery at Guelph, we can say that our experience here has been above and beyond. We would definitely recommend their services to anyone seeking the best care for their furry friends.

Always happy with the professionalism, effort and care we get when we bring our puppies for BAER hearing tests.
27 December 2021 7:23
Caring and compassionate doctors, technicians and staff.
Although the outcome was not what we were hoping for, the doctors did everything they could for our little pup.
They were so professional and called us every step of the way with updates.
They allowed us to visit her when they were worried about her prognosis.
They helped us to make the best decision for her.
A counsellor reached out after to check in.
We are grateful that we have such an amazing hospital so close by.
Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts.

We were bringing our cat Sweeney back to Make sure her regular sub-flush.

OVC was able to save her life when we were pretty sure there was nothing that could be done. We're very lucky to live in Guelph!
08 December 2021 13:30
We were sent here when no one else was able to help our dog, Sadie, after a cancer diagnosis. They were able to give us some more time, while maintaining her quality of life. They were also there at the end, when there were no other options left. We knew throughout that Sadie was being taken care of my caring professionals. All of our interactions with the staff were wonderful and they took the time to answer our questions and help us in any way they could. Although it was a very difficult time for us, we are forever grateful for the caring and help provided by OVC HSC.

REPEATEDLY had to tell the doctors what my dogs medical and drug history was while seeking treatment.
Got told several times that my dog's medical history (their records) wasn't filled out, despite my paying a $1000 bill, called back and they still had no written history. If my dog needed to go back they'd have to rely on my memory.

For a medical field where I'm sure they boil a LOT of information down when conveying it to the patient/owner, you'd think they'd take care to keep proper records. Absolutely distraught and untrustful of this location now.

That and they didn't even fix my dog, we got prescribed a medication that did nothing, when we called to seek help /follow up, after having to verbally tell them my dogs med history AGAIN, they suggested a new drug that was hundreds of dollars every month, WAY outside of my budget.

Called my current vet to see about sourcing it for cheaper and he was bewildered why they suggested the new drug when there was X drug available for much cheaper that we hadn't tried and would fit her symptoms.

We ordered X drug and now my pup is doing AMAZING.

Your mileage may vary but I am very disappointed in the treatment my dog got.

2/5 stars because we at least ruled out some diseases and conditions during all of this. Just unhappy with the lack of care and record keeping
21 November 2021 10:34
Receptionist could DEFINITELY use some telephone manners. In a time like this where I am desperate for help for my dog, she answered the phone in such a rude way. I was uninformed about the process to get my dog help and I absolutely did not appreciate the tone she gave me. Made me feel incredibly belittled and stupid. If she’s a college student, though, maybe she just has a lot learn about manners. Can’t blame her entirely, she’s just a kid ‍️

I have no idea what happened between the time we dropped off our cat and the time we picked him up. Being you can't observe how they are treated, I think they should video tape the interaction. They certainly don’t tell you if they had any difficulty with handling. Or might minimize it so they don’t appear they couldn't handle it. We gave them Rescue Remedy to use, but looks like they didn't (perhaps not recognizing its benefit) and just went ahead with a stressful procedure under sedation causing drooling and panting as a side-effect.

This cat’s behaviour changed from a playful interactive cat the day before and the morning of the appointment, to being in flight and hiding mode when we try to be near him or feed him. He came to be evaluated for a hearing loss due to an over prescribed Surolan medication (medical "faux pas" - to be polite - from another vet). He was salivating, almost nauseous and panting on the way home. - sedation rxn.

He now wont accept food and goes and hides. I suspect stressful handling or them being insensitive or unaware of how painful his ear was to examine. Although they tout a “no-fear” policy and using pheromones, I have no idea what occurred, BUT I can SEE the effect.

It took them 3 hours to do the exam and test, plus the 90 minute drive there and back, so that kitty was cooped up for 4.5 hours. In itself that shouldn’t have been too bad, but something must have happened that traumatized him. Did they try to put an otoscope into his ear incorrectly and caused him pain that he still has even now?

They only had a resident (in neurology) on staff who admitted he had not handled or done an ear exam/culture in the past 6 months. Super nice person, excellent communicator – seemed patient and caring - doing his best with what he had been taught. BUT no treatment options or followup was available at the time. All he said he could do was refer on to another specialty. The medical profession is just going to do what they are going to do, as piecemeal as it is, and you can take it or leave it. So sad, too bad, for us and the cat.

Worse was that they really did nothing for him other than a test to confirm what we already knew about him having some hearing return after the over-dosed meds and WHICH ear had hearing, but not to what extent. That "really" "meant a lot" to the cat!

The only thing that changed was his behaviour. He is still partially deaf from the medical intervention that caused the ototoxicity in the first place, BUT are hesitant to admit is causal, though he went from hearing to deaf in 2.5 days of the prescribed meds. No culture was done for the ear infection and the ears weren’t even cleaned when they saw debris. I am really not sure how the cost managed to be $330 for being no further ahead in getting him treated and another wait for another referral. What should he do about the ear infection in the meantime? The referral isn't booking until 5 months from now! No answers. And you can't even leave a message as it is on night mode for next two days.

We are on the medical roulette wheel - cash $$ and $ur-prize$!

I STRONGLY RECOMMEND the OVC look at having an Animal Communicator on staff and recognize the benefits of Rescue Remedy applied every 15 min before a procedure/event throughout its length.

Everyone there is caring and incredible with animals. They will help your fur baby any way they can.

I could not be more disappointed with the service that I have received here even after speaking to the manager. They originally called me to ask me if i would like to renew the yearly membership that I pay for my dog.

Come to find out that I have a bloodwork outstanding for my dog which was due 2 months after his appointment. They said that they called me and they left a voicemail but they did not hear back from me. I simply asked them if they deemed it too much work to give me another call back considering I did not book an appointment. The manager decided to laugh and say they are understaffed and they did their part be leaving a voicemail and if i did not book thats on me as an owner. I did not find this to be a laughing matter considering they called me to ask for a membership renewal but couldn't call to follow up?

She also mentioned that they found two minor issues when they did his bloodwork and wellness exam which I was never notified about. One was in relation to his eyes which I specifically asked the vet to look out for. In my post appointment phone consultation they told me that he's fine and it was not until the secretary told me that there were actually issues found. Upon speaking to the manager, she told me that the doctor doesn't need to go over his medical records with me if she doesn't think there is any major pressing concerns. But, as a pet owner, if i am specifically asking for some information i would like to receive it. Also, shouldn't we deal with issues before they become major?

In conclusion, i will not be going back to this vet. All of this could have been avoided if the manager chose to speak respectfully and did not laugh while I was speaking about my dogs health records. In the end I did not feel like a valued client at all.

I have brought my pets here for a number of health conditions and they have ALWAYS been extremely helpful, and treated me and my pets wonderfully. Over the years, they’ve treated one rabbit for ~3 years with chronic dental disease and helped him through numerous abscesses. They spayed another rabbit that a different clinic attempted to spay but was unable to because she didn’t do well without intubation (OVC always intubates rabbits, as they SHOULD, but not all vets do). They diagnosed one of my dogs in late stage cancer and were very compassionate and helpful when explaining what our options were (we ultimate had to euthanize her). And most recently, they have been working with me to help diagnose my puppy with a rare neurological condition. We’re still working on this most recent diagnosis, because she has very unusual symptoms, but I’m confident that if anyone can figure it out, it’s OVC!

It is broken hearted that I write this. I brought my sweet, innocent Charlie here thinking he would get the best care possible.

Charlie was diagnosed with a mast cell tumour on his leg in December and he needed to see an oncologist. I chose OVC thinking they are supposed to have the best equipment, staff etc.

My first video appt was Feb 4, we discussed his situation and they repeatedly told me that mast cell tumours are very unpredictable. From Dec to Feb, his tumour grew significantly and timing was of the essence.

On Feb 12 he had an MRI and all his blood work were done, along with other testing to ensure the tumour was contained and had not metastasized. His results came back and everything looked good for surgery, the tumour was contained, his blood work was good and they even ruled out chemo. They booked him for surgery on March 15.he had to wait another month because his condition was "stable".

By Feb 22 his tumour was significantly larger but I was told to keep his meds as they were as anything could trigger his tumour. On Mar 1, he started favouring his leg and I contacted OVC and was basically told to sit tight. On Mar 3, Charlie was in so much pain, I was told to give him gabapentin and to bring him in the next day.

On Mar 4, I brought him in and he was examined and returned to me within the hour. His surgery was moved to Mar 8 from Mar 15 (I suppose his worsening condition justified moving up his surgery), they gave him a 3 day slow release buprenorphine injection to manage the pain until his surgery. Charlie's leg had swelled to nearly double within 36 hours and was yelping of pain. They apparently didn't have any beds for him so I had to wait until Mar 6 to bring him back in, at this point he was too unstable to do surgery and my poor sweet Charlie died on March 7 at the hands of people who were supposed to help and save him.

In February, Charlie was too stable to have surgery and then within 3 weeks he was too unstable to have the surgery.when is the right time then?

We are heart broken and devastated. Charlie died at the hands of a surgical team who didn't think his life was worth saving.

Rest in peace my sweet baby.you deserved so much more <3

I took my dog Bridgette here on the advice of my home vet. She spent approximately 9 days here in the ICU. Dr. Phillips and her team are amazing, and took great care in ensuring that I was updated with my dogs recovery and what the next steps were. Although my dog sadly passed away on the 31st of December, I am greatly humbled that she had the opportunity to be cared for by the best veterinary team in the province. Because of Covid, I was unable to be with my dog while she was in the ICU, but the team gave me updates multiple times during the day letting me know how Bridgette was doing and helping me to understand her condition. They also let me FaceTime with her which was such a true show of empathy. They made everything make sense. I am saddened to write that Bridgette has passed, but I will forever be grateful to OVC - truly wonderful and talented people who will do everything they can for your beloved animals. Thank you OVC, for everything you do.
21 February 2021 15:02
We have had many cats and dogs in our lives. To our absolute delight we decided to ask OVC to look at our recent adopted dog's thyroid cancer. The care, empathy and truly decent pricing has put this facility at the very top of our list. Thank you so much to Dr. Stine and her staff for helping our little Bella survive to live another day, and hopefully many years to come. Exceptional work and treatment, and we truly appreciate it.

The reception needs to be improved for dropping off a pet. I got there for my appointment and called the indicated phone number at the door. But it went to voicemail. Then, after contacting a person thru the emergency number, I was told to wait at the front door. It was pouring rain and I waited outside for 25 minutes. I talked with 2 staff people as they were fetching other pets. Some how, I was not on their list. Finally, a student took my dog in, 30 minutes after her appointment time. I am wet and shivering in my car now.
06 December 2020 8:00
This is by far the best place for your pet to go for critical care. The vets were very thorough and worked tirelessly to ensure my pet was stabilized. They provided ongoing updates and were always open to going above and beyond.
21 November 2020 18:01
Very nice with our pets

During covid-19 they're being extremely careful. They're masked and they talk to you about your pet outside of the hospital, then they pick your pet up and take her in.
01 May 2020 18:05
This place neutered my friends cat and lost him in the process (he has been missing now going on a week). After losing the cat, proceeded to tell my friend to rename her cat Houdini and were not at all caring of the situation. Keep in mind this cat just underwent surgery and is in need of medications. Please tell me how an animal hospital manages to LOSE an animal? Very unprofessional and very irresponsible. If I were someone planning on taking my pet somewhere in hopes he would be in good hands, this wouldn't even be my LAST resort. I would not recommend this place to anyone, nor will I EVER trust my pet with these people. I will be telling all my friends, and anyone I know who plans to use this facility to advise against doing so. If they lose peoples pets imagine how they do with the actual procedures at this place. If I could give this place 0 stars I would.

My little Mia needed to have eye surgery b/c she had cataracts in both her eyes. We were advised that OVC was the best location to have this done. This was definitely 100% true. Dr Pinard from the Ophthalmology clinic and her miracle hands helped our Mia see again. We knew the risks and details of this procedure, but we knew that whatever she needed to have done here, Mia would be in the best skilled hands. We can't explain how much this has brought our Mia back to life. She speaks to us through her eyes and we couldn't have enjoyed them like this without Dr Pinard. Thank you to the entire staff and team at OVC for making my this joy come back to us. You are all so wonderful. *** Highly recommended ***

We're truly blessed to have such an amazing facility in our hometown. Great staff who do great work.
23 March 2020 23:13
OVC were very professional but at the same time incredibly compassionate. Our baby never made it through but they gave us all the time we needed to say good bye to her. Thank you.
11 March 2020 20:41
The person at the front desk as well as the on-call vet were both very helpful and understanding when I had to go there with my cat on Christmas night.
26 February 2020 14:52
We were referred to OVC by an emergency vet clinic in the late hours of the evening. Our dog had an adverse complication from a routine procedure and was in dire need of attention. OVC was extremely thorough and attentive with our needs. While we were there, they gave us all the possible options for our dog. The staff was kind, caring, and knowledgeable. They were straightforward about what each option would look like for us and our dog. After we left our dog there, they kept me updated constantly through the touch-and-go hours. If I didn't understand something, they took the time to explain it to me. They asked my consent before doing anything and advised me of the approximate cost, when asked. They were honest with our costs and we experienced no surprise costs upon leaving. They have been there to answer any follow up questions we may have and to provide and follow up care, if needed. We have experienced amazing care at OVC, we can't say enough great things about all the staff there!
14 February 2020 21:12
We were referred to OVC by our Vet in Elora. All of the staff here, from reception to the students techs, student vets and Doctors are incredible individuals. Our Shepherd is reactive and was admitted to ICU and Internal Medicine and they were quick to make him comfortable and relieve his anxiety. They worked quickly to find a diagnosis and were very respectful in delivering the terrible news. We had to say goodbye to him and they made the incredibly difficult decision and process just a little bit easier. Special THANK YOU to the following: Dr. Ali (Alexandra), Dr. Collier, and most importantly Gabi - you showed Zeus so much love in his final days, words cannot express how thankful we are.
13 February 2020 20:32
Fantastic team, this is a referral only facility. My piper was in and out with a minimal invasive procedure.
18 January 2020 23:03
Knowledgable doctors who care about the animal's well being. Have emergency services as well. Well priced for procedures
10 January 2020 16:48
We brought our sweet boxer here at just 7 years old when she started having seizures unexpectedly and uncontrollably.
The staff took immediate care and control and provided wonderful medical care to our pet.
Unfortunately she was diagnosed with a large lesion in her brain and is no longer with us.
Despite the sad outcome, the emergency and neurology staff (especially dr togawa) were truly wonderful. They even sent us a card expressing their sympathy.further demonstrating they are simply great people!
We are forever grateful! Thank you ovc
08 January 2020 12:30
I can't say enough amazing things about the OVC and the people who work here! Their expertise is impeccable. My 7.5 month old kitten needed a pretty big surgery, and Dr. Singh, Dr. Stine, and Nate (4th year vet student) took such incredible care of my Baloo! Got daily updates and he was receiving the best, round-the-clock care. Nate was awesome with the daily checkups and his skills & compassion when taking care of Baloo - I wasn't nervous at all leaving Baloo overnight.
After all that was said and done, the final bill was actually less than the low end of the quote! I am beyond impressed, and this experience that could have been awful given the circumstances was nothing short of wonderful for me and my little guy. Thank you to the staff! If you are considering OVC for surgery, you will be in the best hands.
29 December 2019 4:38
Just had the most amazing experience at this hospital. I was refereed to OVC by my local vet as my dog is having some complications from a routine procedure she had earlier in the year. I received the most professional and courteous service ever. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

We had to drive over 100Km one way to have our bunny checked up for he was limping on one of his hind leg. Everyone was very professional, well mannered and friendly. Doctor was good too. Just didn't like how aggressively he handled the 4 months old injured baby bunny. Doctor was knowledgeable and recommended the best. Our bunny recovered fully within a week. I recommend this place, especially for bunnies. Not many vets know much about bunnies.

Brought my sphynx for cardiology exams every year to check for hcm. Even though the price increased significantly and getting appointments in the recommended time seemed difficult. My cat didn't make it to her appointment (in 7 months) after testing positive February and continued thickening end of May. I felt like I was just waiting for her to die, because I'll miss something and she seemed well, her resting breathing was normal. I gave her all the medicine everyday until she suddenly couldn't breathe. She died 2 months before her next appointment, no changes to her medication.

I would give this place a negative star rating if I could. Yesterday Oct. 4th my dog blocked off from Kidney Stones he couldn't pee and in alot of pain. Took him to my Vet who tried to unblock him but couldn't and told me to give these guys a call cause they deal with emergency cases and have the equipment to do what needed to be done. I brought him home and proceed to call them. I filled them in as to what was wrong with my dog and what was going on. I had x-rays of the stones and a letter from my Vet explaining everything. The person who I was talking to told me that I needed a referral from my Vet before they could do anything. I explained that my Vet was closed by this point and he needed to be seen that it was an emergency situation and all they kept saying is I need a referral there's nothing they can do. I asked again do you handle emergencies yes they said but I needed a referral before they did anything. They were ok letting my dog suffer and crying in pain thank be to God I found a Vet who was willing to help me and my dog. If you have a pet emergency don't go to this place they would let your fur baby suffer or worse before they would help you all because of a stupid referral. Take your pet to somebody who cares and is willing to help cause these people don't care and are not willing to help at all unless your pet is a patient of theirs.

We were sent to OVC by an emerg clinic in Toronto because they were the only clinic that had cat blood and could possibly save my son's beloved cat. Chucky (the Chuckster) was hemorrhaging into his abdomen. We arrived at 2 am, and from then on experienced nothing but the best and most compassionate care from the team. Dr. Rebecca Farmer was simply wonderful. Sadly, Chucky was out of options and my son made the heart wrenching decision to put him down. This photo was taken a few minutes before Chucky was euthanized. Whatever your situation, if it's a serious one, this is probably the best place to do what you need to do to give your pet a chance. Many thanks to the OVC folks. You are all making the world a better place.

I brought my Loki here as recommended by my usual vet and I truly thought he was dying. Dr. McLagan was his emergency specialist and I can’t thank her and the rest of the team enough for saving his life. She is warm, calm and compassionate on top of having such expertise. She explained things in plain language and I felt like I knew what was happening with my baby at all times. Thank you to the whole emergency team and especially to Dr. McLagan- to me you are all superheroes.

My dog has been here so many times in the past 3 months, most of the receptionists and vets know him by name. I’m so lucky to live so close to this amazing facility! When your dog takes ill, it’s completely horrible. But these folks really know what they’re doing. The first time he was almost discharged and one of the interns noticed neurological symptoms. Had he not caught them, I may very well have lost my best bud. I booked an MRI the same day as my dog- mine was 3 months later and his was the next morning. They have every tool under the sun to help your pet, and I wouldn’t recommend anywhere else!

We can’t say enough good things about the service and the staff at OVC. They’ve seen our dog through two major surgeries and have been nothing short of amazing. They took great care of her during her stay and left us feeling confident to care for her at home when we picked her up. They even followed up with a phone call to see how she’s doing and answer any questions.

We recently had to deal with a difficult and terminal diagnosis for our 7 year old westie. She was cared for in her final days by Companion Animal Hospital and the doctors and nurses were amazing in our difficult time especially Dr. Shaw. She was so supportive and understanding and helped us work through the difficult diagnosis we were facing that ultimately led us to the difficult decision to let our girl go.

Our beloved and terminally ill pup was cared for at the Companion Animal Hospital. The doctors and nurses were extremely compassionate and worked closely with us in diagnosis, care and ultimately making the most difficult decision of our lives. Our case was a sudden and tragic one. Throughout the process the doctors reassured us that they would support our decision and helped guide us along a path that coincided with our values and morals. With fresh tears still welling up in our eyes, we made sure to thank the staff before leaving for the final time.

Don't ever take your pets here! I was forced to because I had a severe case with my dog and every other animal hospital I took him to said they didn't have the proper equipment to care for him. They made me put down a $1000 deposit and he stayed in hospital for 2 days and they then told me there was nothing they could do for him and that I should euthanize him. I was so devastated and wanted to keep trying, but they said even if I spent $5000 there's nothing they could do. So I followed their advice as hard as it was. The vet then told me what my bill came to which was around almost $800 and the euthanization was like $150 I want to say.so I should've had more then enough to cover all of that. Then the next day they call me and said I owe them almost another $400! I couldn't believe it. I explained what I was just told the night before and they said the doctor didn't say that. I even asked to speak with the doctor and she denied our whole conversation even though i had my dad and sister in the room with me when she said it! I should've gotten a receipt, but my dog just got euthanized and I was devastated.that wasn't even on my mind at that moment. Don't trust them! If you have to go there like in my situation get a receipt for every step of the way! They will try and cheat you as much as they can. This happened a couple years ago now.it took me a while to write this because I was too heart broken to keep thinking about it, but heard a horror story from my co-worker regarding this place as well so I had to come on here and tell my story. The reason I didn't want to take my dog there to start with was because I took my bearded dragon there before this when she had a prolapse and they gave her too much anesthetic and killed her. I don't know how this place is still even open they're a bunch of crooks. Please if you can take your animal else where PLEASE DO!
