I’ve been using this location of Smartstop for many years now, in various sizes of units. The manager now is so helpful and kind. It’s always clean and secure which is why I stay year after year. Thank you to the office manager!

My BF and I just received a drastic rate increase. I don’t recommend this facility to anyone. They get you to sign up with competitive pricing only to drive up the cost. Total bait and switch. We will be taking our business elsewhere within a few weeks.

Great experience setting up the unit and the facility itself is really nice and easily accessible. Unfortunately, the drawbacks outweigh the benefits. The website provides deals that are constantly changing, so even when you reserve a unit, the follow up emails quote you a different price. Luckily, I was able to talk to a representative and they were quite helpful with securing the original rate. When I visited the store, I paid the original rate + admin + insurance fees for the first two weeks of rental which would end the month of May. I also asked to pay for the time period up until June 18th and the rep put through an additional charge. At the beginning of June I got notified that I have an outstanding payment, I found this odd so I contacted the store to clarify what was happening. They originally said the second payment wasn’t present but then located and confirmed it. I thought the matter was settled until I got another payment text message so I repeated the call/conversation with another rep. Then I got a letter saying my payment was late and they had locked my unit. I have tried calling and emailing to get this resolved but no one can help me other than to say the manager isn’t in or it may be an issue with the system… but I need to access the unit tomorrow before 8am and they don’t open until 9am. Be very careful using this company as their hidden charges and ability to rectify discrepancies quickly leave much to be desired.

*Addition #1: when I arrived this morning the same rep I spoke to last night said he spoke to the manager and they would open the locker and no additional charges were required. I wish I got his name but I appreciate his effort.

Addition #2: I ended up getting another notice of late payment in the mail after all was said and done a few weeks later. I called again and spoke to Louie who looked into my account and was very helpful and reassuring that there was no outstanding balance and shared that it may be a mailing issue. He even offered to print out an account statement from his end that I could pick up so I have a record of it as well which I really appreciated. Based on the attempts by employees to rectify this issue at the store level, I increased my review to 3 stars.

First the good - the staff at Mainway location in Burlington are genuine, pleasant, knowledgeable and eager to assist (Anthony, Julia and Samantha to name a few). 5 stars for them!
But the company? First - my rates went from $214 (initial 1 month discounted rate that went to regular $240). Flash forward less than one year and that rate became $340. That is a RIDICULOUS increase in that span of time. Add that I had a second unit which also increased and I’m paying $540 for 200 Sq/ft total ($27 sq/ft)
Now here’s the rub - I go there in October 2022 and am one of MANY locked out of accessing because their auto payment ON ONLY ONE of my spaces has stopped working when THEY did a change over to a new system. At the time I’ve paid TWICE OVER THE PHONE WITH THE SAME CREDIT CARD AND ASKED THEM TO REINSTATE (it can’t work for one unit and not the other!). They finally get it together, but were charging me late fees for THEIR “system upgrade” mistake.
And that Unit that continued to work for auto charge - I haven’t received an invoice since October 2022!

I went in around last week, I asked alot of questions and for help about getting a storage unit! Julia was so helpful and answered all my questions! Very great worker, I would definitely recommend her.

Super polite and attentive staff, very helpful with initial setup and move-in to a very clean and well kept facility. Superior pricing than comparable competition. There's no need to look elsewhere.

Recently rented a unit. The online info and registering was really easy and helpful. At the store Tanya was excellent in showing me what to do and how to access my unit, and very patient. I would definitely recommend getting a unit here!

I have been a client of SmartStop Storageon Mainway for over 7 year. Great staff. Safe, clean and secure storage for my vintage car - never a mouse.

Other places may save you a buck but peace of mind is more important.

I loved this storage place. The manager is very friendly and hardworking. This storage building is the cleanest I have ever come across. I will always use this storage if I require it in the future.

I stopped in to inquire about a future rental and the location Manager Andrea was very helpful. She showed me all the different types of options they had and the pricing as well as the merchandise available to purchase. Thank you for all your help and will be back to rent within the next few months.

DO NOT RENT from this place. Had large unit long term (2+yrs) at full price. Had to vacate due to emergency situation and they did not pro rate the rental and offer refund back. Read their unfair policies before signing the agreement, basically gives no forgiveness for breaking agreement, you will be charged in full for a month even if you just used a day. Found evidence of rodent infestation in my unit so suspect other nearby units have same issue too. Be careful renting from this organization as they have several locations.

Had my rent more than double since moving into this place. Moved my stuff out and they still charged me $10 for a month I wasn't even there. So if the owner wants to reply about your company's top notch service.everyone who works for you says their hands are tied. Probably should give them a call and ask them what happened. Or contact me yourself. They have my number. Until then enjoy the last $10 you will ever get from me. This company is great at passing the buck and blaming head office. Head office doesn't care and apparently no one else does who works there.

The young lady who assisted us over the phone was absolutely wpmderful and could not have been more helpful and attentive to our needs. She was able to make the whole process of getting the unit very simple.

Unfortunately we are now in to our rental a month and the I am absolutely horrified at the treatment that the customers are getting at this location and the poor staff who are at the desk have no control on the matter and are being yelled at.

They (Head Office) decided it would be a great time to resurface the lot this week. The end of the month when people are trying to get into there units because of moving etc. We rented a unit one month ago so when we were ready to move this weekend we had a unit. That's not happening and it is now going to cost hundreds of dollars to work around the situation they have created. Did they inform us they were going to be doing it. NO. Did they take our money, YES. Will anyone from Head Office return my calls. OF COURSE THEY WONT.

Absolutely disgusted at the corporate greed and the lack of customer service.

I stopped by Smartstop to inquire about different storage options. Staff was very helpful and knowledgeable and very professional. She was able to answer all my questions. Plans changed and we didn't end up needing a locker, but if I did need a one in the future, this place would be my first choice

DO NOT RENT with this company, they cannot be trusted. I moved in to a unit in July 2020, six months ago at a rate of $106.00. + tax × ins ($129). As of Jan 1 rent has increased to $124 + tax + ins ($150). A 17% price hike after 6 months. I spoke to management who told me a units price is reviewed every 6 months and is subject to increase at the managers discretion with 30 days written notice. They gave ne no assurance that in 6 months I wouldnt see another 17% increase Their rate was competitive but not under market in July. At 17% in 6 months that is effectively a 35% annual increase. This is PREDATORY PRICING they expect to get away with because of the cost and inconvenience of moving. I HAVE USED STORWELL STORAGE IN THE PAST. 3 YEARS NO INCREASE. I RENTED FROM SMARTSTOP ONLY FOR THE LOCATION WHEN I RECENTLY MOVED. I WILL BE LEAVING.

Since the Americans took over control of this storage site, there has been little in the way of upkeep of the site. We asked on several occasions that the hooks to keep the exterior doors open be replaced. Nothing was done. Several increases in the cost of the unit have been applied, again since the Americans too over the sight. No explanation was given.when I asked why we were paying more for less service, I was told that that is what it is. We got out of the site before the next increase, and were told that the unused portion of our rental was unrefundable. I would not use this facility ever again.

Awesome experience! I went in to buy some boxes since i will be moving in the next few weeks. Olivia helped me pick out the sizes i needed and even gave me some information if i needed storage for when i move. I don't know if i need a unit yet but i will definitely be back if i do.

My husband stopped by to make his annual payment last week and he had a great experience. The girl who was working was closing up for the day and she stayed late to take his payment and help him buy some bubble wrap. I really appreciate her doing that even though it was time to close and go home.

I booked a unit for one price but when I got there the unit wasn't actually available so I had to pay more. I should've been offered the same rate but had a moving company already booked. The girls in the office where very good though. Professional and informative.
