The employees I've met at this store are some of the nicest, friendliest servers I've ever known.

Good location bad parking lot, still over priced far cheaper for produce at metro the st Jacobs market or zehrs

I’ve been to other Sobeys and this is by far the best. A great bakery, sushi and food selection. It is pricey, but it’s Sobeys so nothing new. The food quality is also top notch.

Lisa from the flower department was very helpful and cheery; she helped me pick out a beautiful bouquet of flowers, wrapped them and gave me some helpful tips so they lasted longer. Thanks Lisa!

One of the more “meh” Sobeys despite being newer. Seating area is always closed. Good deli selection but overall the options are limited.

Was in at Sobeys Northfield around 3: 30 today to be greeted by a beautiful and artistic wall display of fresh vibrant coloured vegetables. Koodos to whoever set that up.

This is one of the newest grocery stores in Waterloo, not too big with a great selection of produce, meats and an excellent bakery.

Sobeys is generally a very useful place, this branch is also pleasantly accessible with lots and lots of items and very patient and helpful staff.
Absolutely usable by persons who use tassistive technologies like mobility scooters.

When I was entering the store, the person bringing in carts accused me of being a thief because I turned around at the gate to grab a cart. Without hesitation they started getting angry with me and made me feel really uncomfortable. I tried to do some shopping in the store but decided to leave and go elsewhere.

Definitely one of the nicer sobeys that I have ever been to into. The place is very spacious, although I do find it odd that the regular shelf space seems to be on the other far side of the store so I had to go looking for it a little bit. I guess they really wanted to showcase their fresh fruits and vegetables and organics. Which makes sense, now that I think of it.

Prices are good but a tad on the higher side in general, although you can find excellent deals here and there if you look closely. I picked up some hand sanitizers for 90 cents - 90% off! The regular priced items are a tad high though.

Plenty of parking and friendly staff!

Often hit up this Sobeys for lunch or to grab groceries on my way home from work. Always clean and the Always have enough tills open to make the lines move quickly.

Great place too shop at and the staff is very helpful. It's a little pricey but do have good deals weekly

Got some flowers for a good friend of mine and they were gorgeous! Small balloon was priced well and I was able to wrap it up with the usual outer type bag. Very happy with my purchase. Employee was very nice!

Call to complain about being racial profiled by their loss prevention and had the manager laugh and say it's because your sketchy looking

Nicest sobeys in town.but they keep all their good meat in a display case and won't sell it to you during regular hours you need to go at certain times just to get meat. I could buy drugs easier then a steak.ridiculous.

It is impossible to purchase a Birthday Cake after 9pm at this location. I was told "no one is trained to go behind the bakery counter" and put a cake into a box between 9pm-11pm, including the Shift Supervisor. This completely boggles my mind, and wouldn't have been an issue if they had a few Birthday Cakes out in the fridge area for purchase (which most other grocery stores do).

Due to the pandemic, we've strictly done Curbside pick-up or Delivery, as we have elderly immunocompromised family members, and a young child in the household. We cannot risk their health/safety. This means that for the past two years, we have not shopped at Sobeys, since they do not offer Curbside pick-up unlike most other businesses. This is unfortunate because we loved shopping at Sobeys, and have traditionally purchased our Birthday Cakes here in the past.

The New Year 2022 hasn't started off well with Omicron and the lockdowns, so with a special Birthday coming up, I thought it would be nice to make an exception, and go in store to grab a Birthday Cake from Sobeys like old times. To minimize exposure and foot traffic, I arrived at the store 20 minutes before closing, and planned to be in and out within minutes, but to my surprise, there was not a single Birthday Cake in the fridge area for purchase. They were all behind a glass display case. I asked a store associate if he was able to box one up for me to go, but he said the Bakery closed at 9pm, and he wasn't allowed to go behind the counter, but he was kind enough to refer me to his Supervisor for assistance. I didn't want anything fancy, nothing written on it, just one of those simple $20 Birthday Cakes, sold by Sobeys. When I spoke with the Shift Supervisor, she informed me that she could not grab me a cake from behind the counter as she was "not trained to do so" and no exceptions could be made, which was quite unfortunate and very disappointing. We will continue to shop at other businesses who offer Curbside pick-up.

At this Sobeys they won't just stare at you like a zoo animal but also keep buzzing for security on entrance and in the toilet cleaner aisle (that's a code 10 here). I can't wait for the day when buying bottled water requires them to set off the camera photo whistle on exit as well (just like at zehrs). Great work you guys. Nancy Drew would be proud if she loved in 1930s Germany

My meal was absolutely delicious. They have a make your own meal options and premade meals. I love the make your own takeout. My compliments to the chef. Delicious. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. Definitely surprised you don't find Sobeys on UberEats.

I like this Sobeys alot it has quite the variatie. I love their in store baked bread its delicious.

They sell raw meet sausage that's more than half a year old, yes! Those sausages, not frozen, not smoked, packed on Nov. 2020 and today is May the 14th of 2021. On the package it states "keep frozen", but they were not kept frozen when I found them. Unfortunately I didn't pay attention to the numbers on the back and brought them home, the printed numbers on the back are 2020 313 as per their meat department says it's November when I called in. My dinner plan was ruined by the mistake of me choosing these sausages, they don't belong to anybody's dinner plates, they belong to trash can, and their customer service needed an improvement too.

Went to this store to buy Coke that was on sale, walked around searching high and low for 15 minutes. Didn't find it, asked the cashier about it, oh it should be in Aisle 7, yeah I know it should be but it isn't. Cashier stood there dumbfounded. I said ok, I'll just go over to Shoppers Drug Mart and get it there.
I didn't get an oh I'm sorry sir, let me call out back to see if there's.
I'll never go back there or to a Sobeys ever again.any back there.

The only thing I have to complain about is the poor lighting in the produce department. Makes it hard to pick the best fruits and veggies.

Lots of things made this shopping experience much nicer than my average experience.

Price was not one of them, and it's the only thing holding it back from 5 stars.many common produce and grocery items are $1-$3 more expensive (each!) than even Zehrs, and certainly than Freshco.

My compliments to the friendliness of the staff. Chloe was my cashier's name.

I like this urban style Sobeys - very large custom "heat and eat counter" where you can mix and match instore created meals or components of meals ie grilled vegetables or noodles or rice or samosas mac and cheese and so much more.

(Prepackaged heat and eats from their counter just around the corner from the station for a quick grab and go).

But if already hot is your jam then there is a full roast beef mashed potato with the fixings type counter that you can eat in the car or pack up and high tail it home.

The bakery has aesthetically beautiful treats and large selection of baked that morning items. The gluten free bread and goodies are in the chest freezers in the middle of this section and more like entrees in the natural section.

The natural food and beauty section is quite large and those with special food requirements should be able to find much of what you are looking for.

There is a large lauger and specialty beer section adjacent the frozen isle as well as a wine rack that is stocked with not just canadian wines but chilean and california blends.

Staff are usually really pleasant (*usually) and will look in the back of it's a quick seller and there is no stock on the floor.

The coconog is really good for those who can't have reg eggnog or aren't a fan of drinking eggs. Btw. Since it's the season at the time of this writing.

Checkout lanes are cleverly roped like the "theatre" to help with who queues up how and where. Eloquent keeping distance such that one doesn't feel like a herd of cattle being shuffled down the gangplank.

Might I recommend the lemon chicken.:)

Used to come here for the bakery and New York Style Bagels and bread. The bagels used to be huge and proper New York Style Bagels. Now they are the size of dempsters bagels and the cheese bagel is not even cooked on properly like it used to be. Had to buy a new toaster due to cheese falling off into my toaster. The size and the taste of the original bagels is complete different. Whatever supplier or bakers they used to have at this location have changed and now I no longer visit this bakery.

Prices could be a bit lower on many things.
Staff are friendly.
Clean location.
Deli sandwich folks are amazing. Always get the dagwood sandwich. Called ahead to see if there were any to save me a trip if there weren't and was told when they would be ready. They set one aside for me and even made it without the onion and tomato. I don't expect that all the time but it was great to be on the other end of that kind of service.

Beautiful new store and helpful staff. New layout is interesting and creates a nice setting but is inconvenient if you forget something in the bakery, market, or produce sections from the other part of the store.

Always like shopping at this location. Good selection of meat and produce here. Lots to chose from in the bakery too!

This is my go to grocery store. I love the layout. Easy to find things and takes your through the process of completing your shopping in an effective way.

Sobeys is always great. But, I had a few bitter experience in this branch. Once, I was charged for 22 cucumbers where as I took only 2: . And, then the other day I was charged wrong price for the tomatoes. Now, I just keep 5 mins to read through the receipts after I am done paying. So, that I dont need to come back to get my money back. Apart from that, I like Sobeys for the quality of product they keep specially the produce.

I went to this Sobeys at Saturday November 12,2020 at 9pm. Store was almost empty except for the workers. What I did notice was a lot of woman not wearing face masks correctly. These woman only had their month's covered while their nose was completely exposed.

I think sobeys is missing a huge market by not supplying a deliver service at this virus-dictated time or at least, not subscribing to Instacart that would allow shoppers to deliver food to long-time customers who cannot come to their favourite store and are stuck with Zehrs or Walmart through Instacart.

Very nice store but the person who looked like a manager or supervisor clearly didn't want to be working there, gave me multiple rude looks and an attitude when serving me, there is lots of other people willing to do you job better believe me

Why is the store divided into 2 separate sections? Upon entry thefreshveggies, deli, bakery are on the right but then you hove to go back to the front of the store through a single aisle to get to the main store! What? WHY? And, how can you find this place? Adress is Parkside Drive, which is a full city block away!

Great food at affordable prices. Try the huge and wonderful sandwiches at the deli counter by the front door. A great deal and ideal to share.

Store must have changed the lighting to cool white florescent from warm white - really bothered both mine and my husband's eyes

Had never been to this location and visited on the holiday Monday of the August civic long weekend. The lady who was working the fresh vegetables department absolutely made my day be being happy and helpful. Thank you. This location is a different layout than the Sobeys that we normally visit, and I like it. My only negative is the parking lot could be hard to get out of.

Some good deals today but bakery not very well stocked yet so baked bread selection limited. Too early in morning I guess. Checkout was fast

It's a really nice place and I usually get what I want from this specific Sobey's. Friendly staff and very clean environment

Great selection of foods. Prices are a little more than other grocery stores but you pay for the wider variety which is great.
Only downside is the produce/meat area is dark. Could turn up the dimmer swith a little!
They sell beer, flowers, ready to eat meals, and also take air miles. Great location.

The groceries are great, but if your a male person of color using the self-check out you'll probably be racially profiled. You'll be stared at by the supervisor who walks back and forth, checking to see if you're stealing anything. Even if you're a regular. Not only has this happened to me, but I witnessed it happen to an African male.

Is this a surprise? Not really, considering there are only a handful of people of color in the entire staff. I guess Canada is a melting pot of culture, unless you're in Sobeys at northfield.

It's great that they have children-sized shopping carts and free cookies for kids, too. Unfortunately, the food prices are a bit higher in general (except when they are on sale).
