Never even sat down. We walked up and a sign on the door says "cash only, atm inside", ok. There are some sketchy guys outside, but whatever, the place has good reviews. Inside smells nasty and there's a guy standing up at a table drinking a beer (it's 9am).
Strike 3 we both turn and leave, in unspoken agreement.
Terrible first impression, I'll never go back.

The process of ordering was relatively easy, specially considering the bar was pretty full and the same bartender, was taking the food orders.

Price is aligned with many other restaurants. (About $22.60 for the chicken souvlaki dinner)

Portions were also reasonable, however the flavour of the souvlaki chicken dinner was lacking. This would not be in my top 5 souvlaki diners in GTA.

Consider the fact that they only accept cash.

Ultimately, not a bad place but nothing special. I much rather try new restaurants than return to this one unless there is nothing else open

Went here on father's day. In the best sense of a meaning it is a good old fashioned diner, this place is amazing! Not super busy when we walked in around 11. Cash only. Highchairs available. Patio is open as well. Eggs Benny were on point, runny yolk, good sauce and salty ham. Steak was good. Wait staff are my favourite. Fast courteous and can read you very well. As an immigrant I felt like I fell through a portal to any American show ever into a diner scene. Along with red ketchup bottles. One thing I respect a lot too is that they brought hot sauce to the table from the start. Clean and tidy and hard working people. Love love love this place and will be back.

I remember going this place many time when I was young and when it was not called Solarium (I think it was called Donuts Castle). The food tastes greats and they have good selection both foods and drinks. They also double as a bar and they have a pretty good choices of beers and sprites.

Came for a late brunch and had an omelet and egg sandwich which were tasty. Waitress was very nice. The lunches look really good too, we'll be back.

Food is really good here. My fave is their Greek salad. And the bread you get with their BBQs is really tasty.

The Solarium Family Restaurant, on the 54 Rexdale Boulevard in Etobicoke, is an absolute hidden gem. It is a place where the richness of the Greek culture meets the beauty of the Canadian hospitality. The restaurant has been serving its patrons for almost half a century, and it was originally known as the "Donut Castle" until the Tsoukalas family changed its name to The Solarium Family Restaurant in 2000.

Upon visiting this quaint eatery, I was captivated by the warmth that radiated from the Tsoukalas family. It was as though I was entering their own home. They welcomed me with open arms and a genuine smile, and I felt like an old friend returning to visit. The ambiance of the restaurant is simply old school, and it adds to the charm and character of the place.

The food was a delicious masterpiece, and the portion sizes were generous. I was pleasantly surprised at how reasonably priced everything was, considering the quality of the food. And while the menu has a wide selection of dishes, it was the Greek-style breakfast that truly stole the show. I didn't try the fish and chips but I read some incredible reviews about their seafood variety, and the menu looked really tempting. That's on the list for my second visit.

What truly made this experience unforgettable was the people. The Tsoukalas family was a joy to be around, and their hospitality was unmatched. I had the pleasure of speaking with grandmom, grandpa, mama, papa, and George was the guy at the service - all of them are amazing human beings. The Tsoukalas family's love for their restaurant and their customers is truly Inspirational.

One thing to note is that The Solarium Family Restaurant only accepts cash payments. However, this is a minor inconvenience when you consider the quality of the food and the exceptional service. And if you're a fan of alcoholic drinks, they have a great selection of drinks and draught beer.

Overall, my visit to The Solarium Family Restaurant was an unforgettable experience. I will undoubtedly be returning, not only for the food but for the people that make this restaurant so special. A true hidden gem that has stood the test of time for almost 50 years, The Solarium Family Restaurant is an exceptional dining experience that you won't want to miss!

My first time here and this is one the best fish and chips I’ve had in a long time. The service was great and they were so friendly to my toddler.

J'ai pris un déjeuner, j'ai aimé les patates tranché et frites.
J'ai pas aimé argent comptant seulement.
