Song Cook's Korean Chili

Love, love, loved this place. Very flavourful food, excellent customer service. Intimate curtained booth offering a bit of privacy. Moderately priced. Probably will turn out to be my go to place for Korean food.

Visited in January 2024 for the first time. Came for an early dinner (around 5: 30 on a Friday night).

Upon entering, we were seated right away and were shown a cool feature at each table: a button that you can press to request service when you're ready to order. After a few minutes, we pressed the button and heard a guy in the back yell "table 7", but no one showed up. We pressed it a total of three times over a time period of 15+ min, and heard the guy shout "table 7" to someone each time. No one showed up to even acknowledge that they would be with us shortly, so we left to go eat somewhere else after waiting about 20 min.total.

Recommendation: get more staff on a Friday evening or at least acknowledge your seated customers.

The food was finger licking good! Especially the candy chicken, tteotbokki, short ribs, and cheese corn! I loved the private rooms dine in vibe. The green tea mochi was the best! Favourite part is that everything is HALAL! HOWEVER they do have weird tipping policy that isn’t mentioned until it’s time to pay. One of my friends tipped less than 15% and the server gave the machine back saying you’ll have to tip more “or else my manager will get mad at me”. We found that very weird and off putting. The manager needs to get a grip.

One of my favourite restaurants! The atmosphere is so calming, relaxing, and private. The food was so so tasty. Servings are big and prices are great too! The owner is so sweet and even gave us free kimchi fries. My favourites are the kimchi fries and original fried chicken. Everything was perfect. Definitely coming back again!

The food was amazing excluding the ramen! The ramen is good just needs a bit more seasoning and soya.

10/10 best Korean fried chicken place I’ve tried - bonus it’s all Halal. Highly recommend the BBQ chicken as well as their kimchi fries. Also had their short ribs which were delicious. Service was fast and food was fresh.

Came here for the first time today and was shocked by how amazing the food, service and atmosphere was! All the dishes we tried were wonderful. The seating creates a perfect vibe to hang out with friends, or even to eat out by yourself. However the service stood out the most. The waiters and servers were extremely kind and I believe one of the managers or cooks came to our table and offered us dumplings on the house! They are truly so sweet and I will definitely be returning again and recommending this place to others.

Loved this place! The food is so delicious and the private seating was really cool. They have great vegetarian options as well, I really liked the Ya Che Soon Tofu and the Kim Mari appetizer. The staff and manager were very kind as well.

I have been going here for over a year now since it's a halal place and my GOD I have never experienced this before. THEY DEMAND A HUGE TIP.

We noticed the portion sizes became so small, and the service wasn't the best, so I gave them a small tip and the manager came and DEMANDED us to pay 15% tip even though we already paid. He held us hostage and wouldn't let us leave unless we paid. He started shouting and arguing with us because we didn't want to pay them $20 for a tip. At the end, we were forced to pay. NEVER COMING BACK HERE!

Most oily chicken of my life, gave me dark meat instead of white low quality food, it’s like fake K BBQ bad excuse for being halal. They also force you to tip for bad service. It all adds up abusing the fact that they’re the only K BBQ restaurant some people can eat at. Claiming derogatory remarks about our community I thought racism wasn't very prevalent in peel region but clearly it is.

We've been coming here for years and have always enjoyed the jajangmyeon black bean noodles. They aren't to salty and had a nice mild comforting taste with wonderfully chewy noodles. They used to have a 7$ deal for this. It's really really good! During the pandemic we tried to go many times and it was closed. Yesterday we finally made it back. It was much busier which is great for them. However the taste of our favorite meal was a bit off. Even though good still.the noodles were flat and not as chewy and the sauce tasted different. When looking at the menu many dishes were halal. So I think that instead of the usual pork that goes with this dish, they used chicken. Another thing is that we used to get many more Korean side dishes that come with each meal. And we used to get real plates instead of paper plates! So the 3 star was because I'm disappointed because I knew how they were and I'm comparing to that. Otherwise it's still good. Just not as good as it used to be as far as taste.

Highly recommend anyone that enjoys Korean food to eat here. Food is fantastic, with service to match. And they're offering Halal food to boot.

Korean cuisine that tasted as accurate as possible outside of the country, with a dining room setup to match.

We had the spicy chicken which was phenomenal. Packed the heat without being overbearing. AAA Kalbi was seasoned and cooked well, served with rice. And the noodles with black bean sauce is incredible. I couldn't stop myself from eating it.

There are booths with curtains to draw for a private meal, where one would hope that all the patrons would take the hint and be quiet. Unfortunately some people don't understand the vibe that's intended.

Can't wait to come again.

Went back first time after pandemic. It used be one of my favorite places. But we were a bit disappointed. The food is up with the price. Bibibam has very little ground beef. The beef bone soup that supposed to have potato but came with only a couple slices overcooked kimichi. Probably won't go back again.

Came here a total of three times. The first time the service was quick and pleasant. I think it’s because we were ordering multiple drinks back to back that’s why we were entertained right away. Considering the first time was a good experience, came back thinking it would be the same. There was two of us again, but this time we were placed in the crowded corner in the back. We wanted to move to somewhere more isolated considering there were multiple empty seats, but when asked they didn’t allow it, even though they had allowed it the previous time. The second experience was mediocre. Their chicken was more dry, lacked of sauce, that I had to ask for more of it. When I asked for more, they acted like I was bothersome and was given a different sauce. We finished up and left.

The third time was when I knew I wouldn’t come back again. Came in as pair, but with someone else, it was her first time so I felt kind of embarrassed with the service for bringing her here. When we first sat down there was a water jug provided so we can refill our own water. This time we asked for tea and all of a sudden they took the water away (lol but for why tho, what if we get thirsty for water instead, now we gotta ask for water again?). That did not make sense to us. Again, the chicken was dry, can literally see the un-sauced parts.like sauce was lightly brushed on the chicken, barely anything there. Had to ask for more sauce and it took forever this time to get it, despite there only being two other people in the restaurant aside from us. It’s like they don’t want to you give any sauce, or they’re stingy with the sauce, that’s why there’s barely any on the chicken to begin with. By the end of it, we finished up and asked for the bill. Paid the bill and added a tip I thought was appropriate due to the lack of pleasant service. When the woman came back she rudely said “tip isn’t included”. Uh, if you check I actually added a tip, but she wanted more. The person I was with added more to the tip, and the lady took it and walked away. After she left I told the person I was with that she shouldn’t have done that and she didn’t have to. She said it was fine, but I don’t think it’s right to be asking for MORE tip so blatantly, especially when you didn’t even deserve it. It was embarrassing how they gave less than the bare minimum customer service but expected the most when it came to the tip. Lol. Do better.

Very tasty Korean Fried Chicken. Spicy and half n half chicken was too good. Beef short ribs with rice was amazing as well. Kids loved kimchi fires on the side. Nice Korean restaurant with friendly atmosphere and staff.

Very damn happy with the kimchi pancake, and seaweed wrapped glass noodles, takoyaki and green mountain chicken. All of was fantastic, servers are very friendly as well. Happy with my experience here, I look forward to returning again.

So, I came back the very next day. Had the bibimbap, Bulgogi, and black bean noodles. I wish I loved closer to come here more, but it's worth the 1.5 hour drive.

My parents gave me a 40 dollar gift for my birthday. I ordered the ribs and barbican knowing I had just enough to afford it. However when it came time to pay the owner saw i tipped 0 as i could not afford more. He forced me to tip 3 dollars and embarrased me infront of my friends. I am now overdrafted and my parents will be very upset. I felt so ashamed as a result of this. If you are a
poor I suggest you stay away as they are obvioiusly not welcome

I absolutely cannot believe how perfect the food here is. I'm writing this review greasy handed, mid meal, because I feel if I die (i might.of euphoria) I will be questioned on Judgment Day for not having imparted the this wisdom on others. This chicken is *life changing*, and as a regular dieter and bodybuilder.this was worth the cheat meal per month. I am shocked at how amazing this place was and even ambience.

Absolutely amazing place. The lady who served us, I believe she is the owner, was super sweet and kind. The food was amazing and very fresh. The chicken was very well cooked. My fiance and I genuinely enjoyed the quietness and the ambience of this restaurant. 10/10 would recommend and will be coming back here again. We come all the way from Hamilton for this! Plus it is Halal!

Went as a group of four and we all agree that the food was amazing! The service however, not so much. The lady who took our order was super frantic and nervous, once we gave our order it took about an hour for us to get our food. We had to press the call button three separate times to have a server come to our table so we could ask for a fork. The fork given was plastic which broke so we had to call again multiple times and the man brought out regular forks. When we called for the bill we split it four ways and also asked for a takeout box. When he brought the takeout containers he was frantically waving it in my fiancés face and trying to get the bill payment done at the same time. Only one of us tipped and the server made sure to make a comment about how we didnt tip him and the friend that tipped was the only generous one and only said goodnight to her. He also asked the name of the person who the table was reserved under after we didnt tip for whatever reason. Those comments were inappropriate and rude. You shouldn't be treating customers that way if they decide not to tip. We make sure to tip every time we eat out but the service honestly was not worth a tip. 4/5 for food 2/5 for service.

I am so glad that there is finally a Korean Grill place that offers halal options. Song Cook's Korean Chili is definitely worth trying, their fried chicken is pretty good. I have read a lot of comments here complaining about the price but even their small fried chicken portion, which costs $22~ is good enough for 2 people, considering that, I think the price is fair. The only thing that I would say they need to improve on, is their service, the service is slow as they are understaffed.

Used to be one of my favorite restaurants, but now it's just mediocre. The prices got more expensive, portion sizes got smaller and the food isn't that great. The black bean noodle sauce was salty and the fried chicken batter was nice and crispy but it was unseasoned so it just tasted like oil and flour.

Overall very dissapointed with the quality and quantity of the food we got.

Very comforting Korean food. The whole separate cabin for each table is great for private dinners. Each table is provided with a button if you want service since you'll not be able to see and call the waiters.

I found the place dull and dirty. Tick-tock makes every restaurant looks good -so I visited there but sitting environment left. Also, not everything is halal they serve pork.cross contamination of food and cutlery it”s a big Nooo for me.not a family kind of restaurant and definitely not for ppl who goes knowing it’s Halal for the rest it’s okay if you are hanging out with frds

First time going and the food was incredible! The manager was our waiter and he was super attentive.food came piping hot and delicious.would definitely recommend this place!

Went today and the place was great. Had the halal fried chicken. It was fried to perfection - crispy af and juicy on the inside. The staff was very friendly especially this one guy (wish I knew his name). Would highly recommend!

I came here awhile ago this year, and the service was amazing. My sister and we were made to feel comfortable, and right at home! We got the half & half (although I prefer the bbq chicken that had so much flavor. I really loved the Japchae, rice, kimchi, picked radish, and on top of that a free side order of Onion Rings. The price is high but it was a great experience!

Love the Honey Garlic Chicken very crunchy, tasty and juicy. Ordered bibimbap, tastes good too. Staff was very accomodating to special request (e.g food allergy). Would definitely go back to explore the other items in the menu.

I came here mainly to try the jajangmeyon. The noodles and sauce tasted good, but i was disappointed that it didn't have any diced cucumber, nor pork pieces! It was just loaded with onions and tiny bits of ground pork. ️

Absolutely delicious Korean food! I was recommended by an acquaintance to try the Korean food here and it exceeded my expectations! I come here to dine with family and we order a lot and take home the leftovers we can't finish. I highly recommend their galbi, jajangmyeon, kimchi fried rice, tteok-bokki, and fried chicken! The service is friendly and impeccable. Side dishes of pickled radish, and kimchi are served. The spiciness of some dishes are the perfect amount and not overly hot for people who can't tolerate the heat. Will come again to eat!

We went for lunch here when there were no other customers. The level of service is pretty outstanding.

The reviews looked good so we decided to check this place out on a sat aft, got there around 3pm and there were plenty of places to sit, to the right they have small rooms for family's or more private affairs and to the left are the regular sitting tables. Starting off I'll say the service was good, attentive but not hovering over us. Song's decor is definitely dated, and could probably benefit with a little sprucing up, if your looking to impress your date with taking them to a fancy Asian restaurant, this is not the place. However, if a good decently priced meal is your goal in a relaxed atmosphere, then this is the place to check out. Food was fresh and tasty and lived up to the reviews we had read, enjoy the pics

Top three Korean restaurants in Peel region. You will not be disappointed. We and friends enjoy eating here.

Last night was our first time we came to that good restaurant. But It is obviously not the last time. We had a good time with the efficient service, with the superb meal and fine drinks and with the decent price. We will definitely visit there in a short time.

The food was good but the service really poor.when we went to pay for the food.the person who was taking the money looked at our payment and started saying quote “why did you give one dollar tip.why don’t you give extra tip.the server who served you worked hard” we said we are student.we can’t give a lot of tips.one of my family member said it’s ok I will pay for the tip.than the person at the counter said quote “ you should at least pay 10 dollar”. This is ridiculous you are not suppose to ask for tips.you should appreciate what you get. I am not going there again.

I wouldn't recommend. If I could give a zero star for this entire ordeal then I would. The restaurant wasn't busy but our order wasn't delivered to our table even after waiting for over an hour. Only when we were in the process of leaving after waiting so long then the food was miraculously ready for us to take home. Also while waiting for our food there was such a long noisy disturbance among the restaurant owner/staff in the back that it warranted a Peel Regional Police officer to be called in to haul out a staff member. A few tables got scared enough for their safety to quickly pay and leave.

Song Cook‘s - Amazing place to have lunch or dinner. Its an authentic Korean restaurant. Dishes are in very good size, food are very tasty. Especially, the spicy noodle, it s must to try. The place are a bit old and probably need some touchup. Staff are very friendly and polite. Food were served in about 20 minutes.

Good customer service, A lot of dish to choose. Very big amount of food and the price is reasonable.

Great food, although a little expensive. Interior is not what I expected, it's nice inside. Service was what took off a star, we were never offered anything to drink, so we had no water or tea. Never came to check on our meal and I had to flag down for the cheque.

Went there today for lunch, it was a typical lunch time but a bit busy because of Victoria Day. They only had one bus boy running around like a chicken with no head, the guy cleaned our table with a stinky rag and wiping the table with one swipe was good enough for them to say it was clean. We ordered our food and all the main dishes came out one at a time at 10 minute intervals, one person ate while the other's watched, when the next dish came out the first person was already 3/4 of the way done with there dish. This place was once great but now the place has no organization skills and most of there dishes are tasteless. If you like eating separately in a group then this place is for you.never will I recommend this place, if you like Korean food better go to the place on Dundas and Kirwin st.

My family was thoroughly disappointed with our experience. We had high expectations from another Song Cook’s location, but there were unfortunately too many let downs. Pork and kimchi had almost no pork in it, several kalbi Jim pieces were still tough, and the mackerel has a good flavor but was so dry. I’m surprised by all the good ratings.

Delicious Korean restaurant in Mississauga!

When I’m craving, I come here for their Jjangmyeon (black bean noodles)! Must-eat with the yellow pickled radish. Hands down the best one in the city! I also sometimes leave with a tub of their sauce. Yes, they sell them and also sell their kimchi!

They serve a wonderful variety of side dishes here, which you don’t find a lot elsewhere.

Dishes I’ve tried and enjoy:
Jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles) - YES YES YES
Jjampong (spicy seafood noodle sauce) - good
Gamjatang (pork bone soup) - good but better elsewhere
Tangsuyuk (crispy sweet and sour pork) - fantastic!
Spicy crispy chicken (I can’t remember the name) - also delicious!
Soondae gukbap (blood sausage soup) - pretty good, saw this on K-dramas and was interested to try.
Korean pancake - huge and delicious but, oh man, that price!

I never bother give bad reviews but this is one of the most ghetto Korean place.environment very good but food is so ghetto to a point that I just laughed.no luncheon meat and tofu sour.k

Awesome food:) Definitely bigger portions than I thought there would be, which is always a plus! Will be returning. Prices were not cheap but not expensive, so somewhere in the middle - really depends on what you want to eat. I ordered a combo of Jjangmyun (Black bean noodles) and Tangsuyuk (Sweet and Sour Pork). The plate of Tangsuyuk (shown in the middle above) could have easily 3 or 4 people. Had tons to take home! Interior wise, its alittle dated and drab but the important thing is that its clean and that the washrooms are aswell. 5 stars from me!

Being a Korean Canadian and having access to a mother and mother-in-law who are excellent cooks, I approve of Song Cook's. They never disappoint! Their food is excellent and service is quick! Prices are very reasonable and every dish and side dish is tantalizing! Every single person that we've brought have been impressed and would definitely come back again. Highlight dishes are lunch combo #4 bulgoki with jajang myun and the tang soo yuk (kind of like a lemon chicken except its with pork) and their Kamjatang (pork bone broth) and jjambong (spicy seafood with noodle). So many dishes to rave about! Pork cutlet and bibimbap are also yummy! Anyhow, all this to say it is our go to family Korean restaurant and we highly recommend it!

This place either needs to change the cook or the manager. Firstly, the food smells, as if they were cooked long ago and got reheated to be served. The items with meats smell especially bad. Secondly, there are flies (not just one. Multiple) in the restaurant although it's winter. Lastly, they placed call bells on the table that don't work. So, it is hard to call your server, and they don't stop by your table.

I am not sure if others would feel this way, but everyone including myself in my group felt all the food taste a bit overly sour. Is that to cover up the bad smell? Once I removed the sauce as much as possible from the food, the smell became a lot stronger in my mouth.

There aren't many Korean restaurants in the west end, luckily Song Cook's is really good. They have a lot of delicious dishes and side dishes. Their combos and prices are extremely affordable as well

The food was very delicious. Service was excellent, even though they sounded under staffed. They were very friendly and accommodating. The recommendation for dish was good. The ambience was peaceful, and private as we had a little closed section for my group. Everyone in the group enjoyed the meal. Definitely will come back again.

After everything I heard about Song Cook's, I'm glad they lived up to the hype! They have lovely service that's very attentive, but best of all they have an amazing menu. The amount of dishes is outstanding, and I already know I'll have to make multiple trips to try all the dishes I'm interested in! I'd highly recommend any of their stews or soups, they are at a great price and are filled with tofu or seafood or pork. This is also a great place to bring large groups- as they have a lot of dishes with large portions that are meant for sharing. Wonderful restaurant!
