Took our dog in with a gag! We were told it was kennel cough.our dog is not around any other animals he is not walked near dogs nor exposed to any other animal.tho this was strange we thought ok.well it's been almost a week and we visited another vet within minutes of walking in we were told the dog doesn't have kennel cough we were charged almost 300 dollars for this initial visit.unfortunately I believe they just used our worry and concern for our pet to their advantage we informed them he was not near any dogs and they dismissed this I understand that it can happen but the lack of interest from the older vet was disappointing.unfortunately will not be returning to this vet clinic

We are breeders and have dealt with many vets in our career. The entire team here is extremely professional, pleasant and customer service orientated. Would recommend.

We brought our 10 puppies in today for their first set of shots and deworming. Staff was nothing but welcoming and great with our puppies.

After trying multiple vets in city, we are glad we found Dr. Mckinley. We have been taking our furbabies to him for over 5yrs now. He is great at what he does. Saved iur Copper (male cat, had bleeding stool as a kitten and got Asthma/Broncitis recently) couple times already. Staff is great and Dr cares for the animals. I would highly recommend this clinic for medical care. For Grooming (specially nail trimming, my dog now hates trimming after one nail trimmed there) I would strongly advise there are better option in city. But for medical treatment, this guy is best.

Nova always has a smile (even after surgery) after a visit to SHAC. The veterinarians, vet techs and staff are all so friendly, full of information, and patient with fur parents.

We took our 2 year old cat in due to seizures that began at 3 a.m. Our regular vet was unavailable and advised us to go here. When we arrived they said it was $900 for tests. We decided to go through the tests as it was explained large bills were part of pet ownership. 2 hours later tests come back clear. We were told by Dr. McKinley that Batman had epilepsy and it was very manageable. We picked him up at 1: 30 and were told how to administer medication. They said they had seizures under control and we should be good. Within 30 minutes seizures started again called the vet he said give a pill wait 30 minutes then give a full pill if he has another seizure. We did this. He assured me sometimes it takes time for medicine to work. Our cat passed away 3 hours later while both my children held him trying to give him the medication we were told would help. The next day the vet called to check on Batman. I explained he had passed and we were devastated as we trusted the vet to guide us. Was told by vet that they should have kept him but they understood we didn't have thousands to spend. Never once was I told they needed to keep him. Now 3 weeks later they call me to schedule his check up. Very disappointed with the service at South Howard Animal Hospital.

The staff there is friendly and the service is great. They have always taken great care of my dogs and made us feel at ease during stressful times.

Brought my 15 year old jack russell to them with an infected tooth. They took her in right away and went over and above with the care for my girl. Plus the prices are so very affordable. I could not be happier.

We only went to get my kittens' third booster, but it somehow turned out so wrong. Firstly, she's super chill with car rides, going new places, people, being held, etc, but she really dispizes having her nails trimmed. It's something we always do at home with treats, lots of pets, and patience. Immediately the vet tech grabs her and leaves to room to be weighed (which I wasnt told till she got back) and when she came back, she said was going to "just trim her nails for us". I was thinking, "Perfect, it'll be good having someone who does this all the time show me exactly how to cut her nails. " After looking at her nails, the vet tech asked me if I cut them at home since they looked trimmed up nice already. Immedietly after saying yes to that, my baby is held down on the table screaming in a way I hadn't heard her scream before as the vet tech holds her lil paws and cuts way too far. I quickly told her to stop and pick my baby up, who was shaking in fear and nuzzling her entire body into me. After getting home, I saw that the only 3 nails she cut were not only cut too short (she luckily wasn't bleeding) but were also split as well. The only problem I had with the vet was that when I was trying to ask him questions about her health, he kept trying to leave the room asap. I had to basically stop him verbally while he was out of the door already to ask questions about spaying her. I didn't give a worse rating because in my one visit there, I only had problems with the vet tech who decided to cut her nails without asking and did a bad job.
