Great nature walk down to Lake Huron, following the old metal staircase to get to the lower shoreline views. Worth the trip!

Went to hike it today Oct 3 2023 and it’s closed for construction. Disappointed. Online has not been updated.

Pretty awesome history attached to this place!
The view of Colpoys Bay while hiking to the spiral staircase.beautiful!

It’s amazing place. Specially if you like to enjoy sunrise then must come and also if you come to Tobermory then this place is just 30 mins before Tobermory.

Gorgeous. The ruins of the historic mansion are pretty cool, and the views along the trail are even cooler.

A nice little hike. Couldn’t do the spiral staircase so we did the small loop at the top. Wear good hiking boots with ankle support as there are a lot of rocks and roots.

Made a quick stop on our way to Tobermory. Ruins are typical. The area is crawling with poison ivy so we didn't stay very long. Not worth it.

Beautiful and a great hike. Bring good shoes with ankle support as the trail gets really rough in spots. But it's beautiful

Cool place to spend an afternoon. Ruins of an old house, trail through the forest. The trail is hard packed earth, with roots and rocks occasionally. It gets quite narrow in some places. Rocks can be very slippery when wet. The staircase to the beach is narrow with metal grid steps, I haven't attempted it yet. I had a hard time here in my wheelchair, and could hike the trail with my crutches without incident (the stairs are an optional part of the trail). I paid $10 for parking to an attendant, online payments available for off-peak times

Beautiful hike. The ruins are really pretty in early May. Flowers in bloom all over the forest floor. The staircase is really neat too. And gorgeous view down on the beach.

Really nice trail! It’s super nice and you don’t need to reserve in advance which was fun and spontaneous. You do need to pay for parking though ($10). There’s an option to do just a short trail to get to the water and theres also an option to make a longer loop. We loved it

It is a scenic area and if you are comfortable with heights you can climb up and down this stairs to see the lake at the bottom. This Spirit Rock is in wiarton

Nice little hike. Its $10 to park, and you can pay by phone, installing an app, or going to the website. The ruins are really interesting. The hike to the water is steeper than I expected, and was glad there was a handrail to hold onto. Just take your time.

A trail from the bottom of a spirit rock, leads past the water filtration plant and ends at the Corran house, home to Alexander MacNeil. Level of difficulty is medium to low as there is a handrail on the steep parts of the trail leading up from the water. A spiral staircase opens up into the Corran complex that is now in ruins. A result of vandalism and arson. The other option to get to the Corran house is by car. A few parking spots are available. An outhouse near the parking lot is available for use.

Not bad, trails not maintained so tonsss of poison ivy: make sure pants and high socks, definitely hiking shoes/boots

also a trail along the water: head down the spiral staircase:)

Actomated parking. Mansion just bare bones today with no plans to rebuild 17 room mansion. Lookout not there as tree branches covered view. Spiral stairs down the bluffs old and rusty. By going automated like many other Ontario sites I visited seem neglected as no park people check out site. Sort of like Eugina Falls lookout. So not worth the $10.00 parking charge. Automation seems the wrong direction for these gems of nature and history. Compared to similar American sites I would give it an F.

-Good trail for kids
-cool history of old rich guys mansion (what's left of it)

-$10 pretty steep for such short trail
-not very much to see
-Grey Bruce Conservation could maintain the road in and maybe a lookout on high trail?
-closed washroom due to covid ppl will just relieve themselves outside of it. It stunk and it's unsanitary at parking entrance

Spirit Rock is very cool. One of the first places I was taken to visit when I was a kid. Lots of nature to look at while your climbing the stairs on the side of a cliff. My kids liked it.

The Spirit Rock Conservation area consists of the Corran Ruins - a barn and estate from over 100 years ago. The stone work is still evident (and even a window frame) - but the area around much of it is overgrown - it is cool to see - but hard to circle in entirety. There's good signage about the history. There's an outhouse for.well.you know.

Beyond the Corran Ruins is a circular-ish trail that takes about an hour that gives views of the bay and a sense for what the land was like before people came. It is rocky and a little hilly on the bay side - it is smooth and dirt on the non-bay side.
There's a part where you can take a steep spiral staircase down the cliff to the bay and enjoy the beach.

Good stopover for about 90 min - 2 hours if you do everything.

Love the legend attached to the place. The stairwell was steep especially going through it towards the water area so people needto be extra careful. There is pay parking in the area. The place is big enough for good hikes and lots of good photo oportunities. Water area was very clear, would love to jump in it.

Feels like any maintenance of this place has been abandoned. Starting with the sign to the entry from the road, which is washed out and you're likely to miss while driving. The long entry road is full of large potholes, which you can get through using a sedan, but it won't be easy. At the end of the road is a fairly small parking lot, maybe for about 10 cars or so. This is also the point where you find out you have to pay for parking and the only option is to pay by app/phone, which would be OK, but I didn't have reception.

This is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places I’ve been. Great vantage point of the bay and there are maps and placards to read that give you insight into the history of the area and it’s original founding members. Lots of parking too and the kids have lots of room to safely run and play!

What a great place to visit and go for a stroll. Very interesting place especially the circular staircase going down the rock face.such a very nice walk along the water's edge and the forest with beautiful but watch out for the poison ivy. The White path is only one way so if you end up going to the pumping station at the end you'll have to turn around and go back if you want to loop them follow the blue marker.

A beautiful hike with well-marked trail that passes through the ruins of an early 20th-century mansion. You can opt for the shorter trail loop, or the full experience of going down the metal spiral staircase, walking across the waterfront trail and then doing the full loop, which should take around 2 hours total. There's a terrific lookout over the water at the far end of the hiking loop. Hike difficulty I'd call easy-to-moderate, only a couple sketchy bits navigating slippery rocks.

Beautiful spot to go hiking. Old ruins, scenic forests and many beautiful spots over looking the water. Limited amounts of parking at the end of the gravel road to get you there, can be a bit muddy with a few slick steep rocks to climb down, but with proper footwear no problem for a bigger.
06 August 2019 10:37
Historic ruins of an old home that stood many years ago. It has some informational plaques around to let you know the history of the home. It also has access to a nature trail too.

Favourite hiking just outside wiarton. Best Bruce trail side trails. Amazing views overlooking the water.
27 July 2019 11:38
Great simple hike with a low lake walk and a high view loop back to your car. Go early in the day to avoid bugs and get parking.
28 June 2019 16:40
Beautiful little park with both walking along the water and a staircase to the top of the cliffs for a better view and some old ruins.
20 May 2019 6:26
Ruins and scenic views of Coypos Bay.well kept trails. Not for those afraid of heights and mind the stairs. Only 2 people at a time.

We were in town for Wiarton Willy. Really enjoyed all the venues and touring around.
We will be back

Just as the name says Spirit Rock! You feel peace and will be in awe, with the surrounding scenery. You will wonder how the Corran was back in time, and drift off into a time way back.
There are two trails one to the left Bruce Trail runs along the top of the escarpment and one that leads to the edge of the escarpment is short but use staircase to head down near the lake at own risk, the way down is steep, go slow, watch your step and beware of your surroundings! Once you get down it is a gorgeous trail heading back to Wiarton! As well when you go back up same rules should apply.
Happy Trails

WARNING: This location is NOT RV Friendly! They should at leaset have a sign for "no trucks or RVs"! The road leading to the parking area and the ruins is very very tight and there is no way to turn around until you make it all the way to the parking. Branches were low and sticking out onto the road. Needless to say, we got lots of scratches down both sides.

The ruins are just ok. The spiral staircase is rickety and mended in many places. Its a tough hike after that too. And, there were lots of black flies (end of May).

May be worth skipping.
