A store carrying high end sporting goods and equipments. I wondering do they have to provide any training for their employees about customer service.
Here is my interesting experience. The sale lady was helping me for trying the coat. Meanwhile there was another lady was await for help. When I was like to trying another jacket. The sale lady said she asked first. Alright. If she said so. I agrees with her unreasonable said.
Here is my thinking. The sale lady was serving me first. Is it let the whole service done then serve others customer? Or she could asked me do I mind she serve the other customer? Would it be better?

Also, I would like to give a credit to either his name is Altair/Atlas who been helpfully for finding the answer of my question. Thank you.

We purchased a kid's bicycle and just realized it's too heavy than other brands' and even heavier than larger bikes, hard to control and move. And the sales was just responding: this small bike has more accessories than larger bikes and that's how we produce it I wonder what makes these guys so arrogant and so confident at hallucination?

Went to the location on Yonge Street. Spent nearly an hour or so trying different type of shorts, went to pay for them only to find out the $25 off $100 is only on regular priced items. While you were able to previously use the coupon on sale items as well, apparently as of this month you can't. I checked the site and did not see this new policy anywhere, unless it's hidden somwhere. So with all due respect, you should have the decency to put this new policy readily available and not waste your customer's time and frankly your own staff's time too as somoene is going to put the shorts back on the rack since i just left them at the cashier.

Was here to get my son some running shoes and cargo pants. They didn't have what he was looking for at there time. But we did get some great sandals. Employees were friendly and helpful and have us some advice on how to get the cargo pants he was looking for.

Been using Sporting Life in Toronto for over 20 years. Their quality of goods and products is amazing. You get what you pay for, and quality is everything at Sporting Life. I'm an avid tennis player, and all my tennis gear is purchased at Sporting Life. The quality of racquets, strings, shoes and tennis products is top-notch. Highly recommend visiting this store if you haven't already, it's worth the trip.

Worst ever online experience with sporting life. They will provide you platform to buy the stuff online but in case of defected piece they will make you come all the way to their store to make a return resulting in wastage of time and money. Worst experience ever.

Noticeably their customer service is way much better. Just got a sneaker and a hybrid bike for my wife. They are super helpful and friendly.
Buying a bike first time from Sporting Life we had an awesome experience.

Terrible experience at the bike shop, paid $106.20 for a tune up, they did next to nothing, broke my left shifter so the indicator doesn't work and I don't know which ring I'm in, I specifically asked to replace my back brake cable which was frayed, didn't do it, noticed on the way out had to wait, left again gears were terrible, derailleur was messed up nothing worked, went back again, a Mickey Mouse job was done, still can't shift to my highest gear, I basically paid $106.20 for them to mess up my bike now I got to pay a professional to fix their mess, what a nightmare, I warn you all.

The worst customer service and curbside pickup operation I have ever experienced. I called multiple times for curbside pickup with no answer. Sure, I can understand, perhaps, maybe staff are busy. I walked in the store and couldn't not believe my eyes: there were no line ups, all four cashiers were doing absolutely NOTHING! This was on a Wednesday at 12: 30pm. There were no excuses to not answer the PHONE! I walked to one of the cashiers, showed her my order number on my phone. She said she can't release the item unless I show her my ID. What? !? ! No other stores have requested for my ID? I said to her "This was supposed to be a curbside pick up. I didn't even want to come in the store but no one answered the phone. Do you mind bringing the item to my car and I'll show you my ID - my purse is in the car". She said sure. I went back to the car and waited 15 mins and there were no sign of any staff bringing my item. I had to go back to the store to get the item. What a horrible and inconvenient experience. Corporate needs to provide more training to their staff on the importance of client services and improve curbside pick-up experience. This is not rocket science. I have experienced exceptional customer services at other establishments.

I went to Sporting Life to get some new walking shoes. I received wonderful Assistance from Gino, Ben & Ryan in the shoe department.i will not hesitate to shop at this store again and will certainly recommend this trio of professional and knowledge sales staff

Never try to park here. Usually a madhouse in the parking lot.

Park nearby and walk into great selection on sporting goods with an emphasis on quality and fashion. Wide range of prices and frequent sales make every visit worthwhile. I particularly enjoy skiing gear and tennis shoes. Your mileage may vary.

Customer service at this location is horrible now. The phones don't get answered, the excessive staff inside the store don't give you the impression that they want to be there. People are willing to spend money but its difficult to do at this location. Something needs to change.

If you buy something online it will take longer the 1-2 hours customer service not helpful repeat same line over, it is busy here. Nothing we can do.
Do not follow the policy of two hours or less.

Do you not use Cerbside pick up.

Elevator not working, hence making them not accessible for anyone with disabilities.for the past two weeks

This store isn’t just the worst store in the chain, it’s one of the worst retail experiences you will ever have anywhere. They never answer their phones, you order something online and it gets cancelled because they don’t have it in stock and their customer service is right up there with Rogers! Avoid Sporting Life altogether is my recommendation but make sure you never buy anything from the Yonge St store … you just don’t need the misery nor the hassle that will surely ensue!

I've been a customer here for over a decade, spent thousands of dollars on a variety of things, been here since there was only one floor to shop in etc. Now, they keep renovating the place and it looks worse everytime, just choose a design, and STICK to it! The oldest design from over half a decade ago was working due to how open of a space it was with a bigger looking selection. Now, the shoe wall feels like its narrowing the store in. Last time I went there I didnt even feel like buying anything, left after a few minutes!

Recently renovated. Lacks the experience of the pre-covid layout. Alot less designer clothing lines as well. Yorkdale is the better option now.

Called back for customer support and was told that it'll be an issue talking to someone because of wait times.

Bought a specialized bike here and had fenders installed. Had a not great feeling about the skills of the bike team. While riding the bike a few days later the rear fender fell off while in busy traffic and got sucked under the tire. Super dangerous.

Have being trying to report this issue with Sporting Life at Yonge but they don't answer the phone (like ever). Sometimes they pickup and then hang up on you. I've called every day for 10 days and haven't been able to get though.

Horrible customer service. I would strongly advise anyone to NOT place online orders with Sporting Life. I ordered 4 items, one of which was not included in my shipment. I contacted Sporting Life about the missing pants, filed a ticket, and didn't hear back for nearly 4 weeks. After continuously following up and not hearing back, I finally received an email saying "we checked the security footage and the pants were sent with your order" and that was that. I asked if they could show me that footage, and of course, the answer was "no" - leaving me with no solution to this problem. I won't be purchasing from them online again, ever.

Not enough retailer workers on the floor. People were getting frustrated. Online says in stock for a variety of items. In store had zero. Completely misleading. Store barely had anything. Waste of time.

Terrible customer service here at the Tennis area! Do not trust the guy called Ross who looks very kind and professional, but turns out to be very rude when we try to get things resolved. He told me to get size 1 but sneakily changed it to size 2 without letting us know.

I didn’t really want to make a refund until the moment he slapped my hand on the racquet and rudely asked me to get a refund for whatever I want.

But big thanks to the cashier and the manager who patiently and proactively helped with the refund.

I don’t recommend to shop at this location, personally I would never come back.

Worst pick-up experience ever. 10 minutes to get through the call wait, then no one shows up for 10 minutes. So far it’s sort of understandable on a busy day. I finally decide to line up. Another 10 minutes to wait in line, then I asked the situation and the rep said he will go get it.

10 minutes of nothing so I aggressively ask “can you tell me what the wait is about? ”. The rep says they couldn’t find my order and says “the guy inside knows better, you know what I mean? ” Umm no I don’t know what you mean… So he goes to find another guy, 5 min later another rep comes to tell me that the order was never placed. I show him my email and he just says it was never received… weird.

Now I’ve been waiting another 10 minutes. Oh wait he comes to tell me there’s no stock. Not a single word of apology by other reps, just once by the last rep. Never placing an order at this location. Oh it took me 3 hours to drive here.

DON’T buy at this store as they are inconsistent with the return policy. The worst experience ever. I bought the item during the COVID. The store doesn’t allow me to return the item and the store manager is just continually repeating the store policy and not willing to address my concern at all. Will never ever come back to the store.

Worth customer service ever, to return a stain shirt and damage shirt, which both cases was they poor delivery and now I have to go to store few times and line up for return and after an hour no luck because of being so slow and I left. Still no solve my problem, and the lady was saying because of computer problem they have, that's why they are slow serving people? ! Not happy

My experience begins with Customer Service. I inquired about a bike that was only in their warehouse and asked if I could put a hold on it and they said absolutely. They then contacted the store manager, Dave, who gave me a play by play until I picked up my bike. The level of customer service provided by the Instagram account of sporting life and Dave was outstanding! I have gone on to order all my apparel needs through them. I appreciate them a lot in a space where customer service is sometimes an afterthought.

They are absolutely the best bike repair store in Toronto. My bike is like new again. I was just out for a 10K ride with my son and it felt absolutely fantastic. Best place to buy a new bike as well from previous experience.

I find they are just greedy company as their return policy is unbelievably selfish. I purchased hoodie using curbside pick up and now only option to return the item is sending it back by mail at my cost. And they don't have any intention to extend of return period while the province is under lockdown order for 6weeks.
Not good company.

Purchased a coat 2hrs before boxing day. Price dropped 25% on Boxing Day.to get lower price I had to reorder a second coat and return first coat at higher price. They say they cannot adjust the price on existing orders. Makes me wonder how this business makes money. But it goes to show profit margins on selling rags.

This place is huge and has everything an athlete is looking for. Whether it’s clothing and gear for your next adventure, they have it all! Their service is very quick at the line and followed covid safety measures at all times. They also have parking which is a huge plus!

By far the worst on-line ordering experience I have ever had. I placed an order for 4 items and got an email back saying 3 are not in stock but was charged the full amount to my visa. Their customer service phone number is not in service and I am getting conflicting emails from different people in their customer service department. Do not waste your time ordering from here, you likely won't get what you want.

When all you have is an e-commerce site to keep you in business there are some fundamental things you need to do to make the experience a good one. I made a significant purchase on Sunday and have yet to get a confirmation that the order was received. Got an immediate notification from PayPal that my money was taken but NOTHING from sporting life. I certainly expect shipping delays but I need an acknowledgement that the order was received. It’s been three days and now I need to try and file a stop payment with PayPal. I tried calling Sportinglife customer service but they’re not taking live calls. Unbelievable! The irony of having a department called customer service that doesn’t take calls is astounding. I filed an online ticket as requested and three days later I still don’t have a response. Just want to know if they got my order. My own fault for not reading earlier reviews about similar experiences. So much for trying to support local business. Giving them 24 hours to make it right.

Update: Natasha resolved things nicely. Order has disappeared but she brought some clarity to the issue and returned my funds.

The Sporting Life online shopping experience is amazing until its time to for your order to be fulfilled. If you value your sanity, it highly recommended to take your business to a competent establishment.

There is good chance that they will mess up your order. Their policy on correcting these errors will likely be for you to go kick rocks. Don't take my word for it, just read the other reviews.

It is a sad day for Canadians when you are rewarded with abysmal service for supporting this supposedly Canadian owned business. Save your self the stress and shop elsewhere. If it is un-avoidable, go in to the store to make a purchase. The old saying goes, "If you want something done right, do it yourself", this is especially true when you are dealing with Sporting Life.

For those interested, here is my latest experience:
I ordered gloves online for curbside pick up on a Black-Friday sale. The website clearly indicated that they were in stock at the Yonge & Lawrence location. My order went through and I received a email confirming my order. Six days had come and gone and I had yet to receive a follow up email telling me that my order is ready for pick up. On the seventh day, I decide to call to inquire about the order status. I was told that they had a system failure and that a number of online orders were never processed, including mine (I was never notified of this). The representative on the phone was able to pull up my order and placed the gloves on hold for me to come pick them up. I arrive to the store and find out that the gloves I ordered and payed for are not a stock item at this location and that would have to order them online from their stores on the West coast. The representative mentioned that I would have to pay full price for the gloves (since the black Friday sale was over), and that I would have to pay for shipping as well.

I made an online purchase of a pair of UGG slippers they had on sale. I did read a lot of bad reviews beforehand regarding their online business with mistakes, errors, long ship times etc etc and I thought I had taken a huge risk, but actually, the delivery and service was quick and exactly how I wanted them. I ordered on a weekend, and they arrived 3-4 days later. I also emailed customer service regarding a question about shipment and they answered within a few hours. Really happy with my purchase.

One of my fav stores, I shop here frequently. This location is fairly picked over so expect to not find your size most of the time. Staff is helpful. Fellow shoppers are from the area so expect your fair share of frustrated, hungry, b**chy white women. Bummed that they no longer allow dogs inside.

If you are looking for quality and top of the line sporting goods - you will likely find it here. Staff are both very helpful and knowledgeable. The prices aren't cheap. They are higher because they are worth it. Sign-up and register on their web site and online store. They have multiple sales a year and if you are smart and with a bit of luck, you can get real bargains buying during end of season and other similar sales.

Enormous selection, but I found the store really confusing to navigate. There's very little organization which means that you either have to flag someone down or wander through the entire store to find what you're looking for. There is a heavy focus on fashion items rather than sports equipment, and for that kind of thing I'd much rather go to any old department store.

ONLINE EXPERIENCE: I tried to purchase a jacket. They sent an automated message saying that my order was cancelled with no reason as to why. I emailed back asking why that was (things happen). I received another automated message saying they would get back to me within 48hrs (standard procedure). I didnt hear from them for 72hrs. I emailed back to remind them. About a week after that, I'd almost forgotten about my attempted purchase, I received an answer essentially saying it was my problem. Sporting Life lost a sale. They didnt even say anything like "let's try it again" "or let me verify the info to see if we can make it happen". Basically just an "F-U, move along". 10/10 wont try them again.

I exchanged a running shoe. Staff were very helpful and curtious and refunded me the difference, with no issues. They have amazing apparel there (including Canada Goose) and tons of running shoes and socks. And for the most part, prices are better than you would think.

A must if you’re a gear head or looking for fashion sportswear. Relatively higher priced than other local options but also have very good customer service. Returns are straightforward and easy. They stand behind what they sell in a very strong way.

This is a nice shop. Apart from selling most big brand names like North Face, Patagonia, etc.it carries some brands which are not usually available in other big malls. I took a look to these unusual brand items and found that they were high quality ones. A quick glance of this shop, it carries mainly outdoor clothing for various outdoor sports and games, plus selective accessories.

Both the sale service and after sales service are good. When I looked at the stuff, sales persons offered their help; and when a friend of mine had difficulty in deciding the styles of down products between different brands, they suggested him to buy both to try them in detail at home, and to return the one which was not selected. This is the first time I have ever met such smart salesmanship!

They have a reputation of being a bit pricey, but I felt that I was able to get high quality ski gear at prices better than the discounted big-box sports stores in the city. Ordered through their website - shipping was super fast and issue free. Def recommend!

First time at this store

Wow! What a huge amount of variety, high quality coats / shoes / skis / backpacks / gear for all your needs!

We went in January so all the winter items were out.
Great brands like Columbia, Spider, Canada Goose, Descente, Fendi, Arc'teryx and many more

Will definitely make them a regular stop for our shopping needs!

Liked it so much we went to both the Yonge and Sherway gardens locations within the same week!

Sporting Life is a wonderful store with very helpful staff. They have the best selection of sporting wear in the city at a bit of a higher price point. When they have sales, expect to see prices cut by 50%+.

Ordered online from Sporting life. I ordered a pair of snowboard bindings that were on discount due to being last years model. Order was processed and completed within the day, I received my shipping info and 3 days later it arrive. Pretty speedy. When I received the package, it seemed they only sent me one binding, for whatever reason I was sent the box with one binding in it. I assumed it was maybe a floor model that they forgot to add the other binding in. I promptly called their customer service line. I worked with a very helpful lady named Jade, she said they would need to investigate on their end and would get back to me. A couple hours later I received a call back from her stating they messed up and told me to send the binding back with the prepaid label they provided. Once they received my package they sent me a new set. I'm giving 4 star only because they didn't check the first box. From holding it you could tell it was too light. Although I had to wait a bit longer to receive what I ordered, they were quick to resolve my issue. I would shop here again in the future.

Worst online store on the internet. Your item won't ship for a month no matter what their website says and it'll arrive damaged. Shop at MEC or Altitude Sports instead.

Came in 2 weeks ago around 8pm. Went here because they have more products in stock compared to other locations. The staff on the Main floor for Mens were very friendly and helpful. After finishing with the purchases for my boyfriend, we decided to head upstairs to the Women’s department.

I tried on a couple winter jackets and a middle aged blonde woman with short hair approached us and asked us if we needed any assistance. I said no, i’m fine we are just browsing. She then starts to follow us to every part of the store. Even when i headed across to another area and got help with another associate for a hat that i liked.

Like.i get it. I work in the Retail Industry as well. Loss Prevention is a major issue. But please stop making customers feel like they’re being accused of stealing. Give them some space, watch from afar and if they need your assistance im sure they will ask. Stop making customers feel uncomfortable.

My bf and I headed back downstairs for him to try one last thing in the Canada Goose department before we paid for our purchases and left. He then told me that he had witness the same employee leaning over the top railing upstairs and continued to watch us.

Find something better to do. Your store is closing in 30 mins. Fold some clothes, clean and maintain your department. What the hell are you doing? Stop trying to play Hero and move on with your day.

Never to go back to this store! I buy new Ski for my kids and find same items with lower price in their store website. The department of sales said the website price is wrong and couldn’t match price ! And The deportment manger call the head office to change websites price! So despicable! Anther Sportinglife store said: They always match the prices from their website price! What is The store policy ! So bad and sad shopping day ever!

When shopping online, order for the next season. That's probably when you'll receive it! I ordered a few items online and the shipment was delayed for three weeks, I called them and they finally figured it out. I'm looking at a month from order to delivery.

Great experience. Went to buy a Montcler jacket. Had negative experiences at the montcler store with rude and pushy sales staff, so went to sporting life instead. The selection was awesome, and the staff were kind, helpful and cool. This will be my go to spot from now on for high end gear.

Pro tip, if youre ordering online the only shipping option is called "expedient" you think that be fast? No! Very slow Takes between two weeks-to-two months to deliver order (thats if they dont mess it up which they often do) and it will take another too long to return to them and thats if they can fix the problem.
