Sporting Life is a very big showroom selling sportswear, active wear and other general garments as well for men, women and kids. Sporting Life is selling shoes for all as well. They sell bicycles and there's a good range and display of that. The store has many brands Adidas, Nike, Under Armour etc. Display is nice and staff is good. There are some deals available as well.

Lazy staff and small selection of actual outdoor gear and clothing. GO TO MEC! I can't say this enough. This store is fine for general up price street wear and clothing but it's not a great camping/outdoor store.

Go to mec instead if you want knowledgeable employees and good selection.

TLDR: stay away from this store if you want to get your gear serviced

good selection, but i had an exceptionally bad experience stringing my tennis racket here due to service and quality concerns. I'm not historically known to be a string breaker, so when i restrung my racket here with a full poly bed, I was so shocked that it came loose after 2 hours of play. Most unprofessional quality of stringing ive ever had. A lady manager here, whom herself admitted does not play tennis, had the gall to suggest I hit the ball with the wrong part of the racket. Needless to say they did not offer to restring my racket to make up for this mistake.

Great if you want to visit the store to buy something you're familiar with, but better not to solicit any unqualified sporting goods opinion from the dumb-as-a-doorknob staff they hire here.

I visited the sporting life Sherway gardens location to exchange a pair of shoes I had purchased the week prior. Today, like every other time I have visited this location, I had to run through the store to find somebody to help me and when I did they had no knowledge of the shoes and didn’t carry many sizes, I was told to go to the Yorkdale location.
I had made sure not to wear my shoes since I was sure the fit wasn’t right however the employee who was handling my return told me straight up the shoes had been worn and he won’t exchange the size. This was pretty disappointing as he had made up his mind, didn’t hear me out and refused to have another employee/manger take a better look. I definitely won’t be visiting this location any time soon! I recommend going to a different location if you really want guidance and good customer service.

THINK TWICE BEFORE ORDERING ANYTHING ONLINE FROM SPORTING LIFE! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I received a hoodie with a DEFECT and tried to return it in the store. The manager TIM said that sale items are final sale and they can't accept it. I ordered a lot of things online from sporting life. Never ordering anything from them again!

Picked up a kayak here and it was a super smooth experience. I was a bit anxious about picking up such a large item at such a busy location but they were pros. Guided me to the pickup spot (P3 level in the garage near the Keg) and 2 gents brought it out to my car. Very friendly and quick.

He was very patient knowing we are beginners looking for our 1st pair of boots. He was also knowledge. I am glad I made this trip to the store, and found the exact boots sizes/ spec i needed! Great job!

Sadly to say I have had an horrible experience with this particular establishment and Eden from Sporting Life Customer Care is running me around. FedEx delivered to wrong address deemed item lost. Eden is running me around not refunding me even after I explained I'm disabled, this toxic person has done nothing to help me get a refund.

August 7,2022 update reply to owner action speak louder than words I did a charge back with my financial institution and your staff claimed still I received my package lying to investigating team thank you for proving what a toxic company this is.

Worst ever online experience with sporting life. They will provide you platform to buy the stuff online but in case of defected piece they will make you come all the way to their store to make a return resulting in wastage of time and money. Worst experience ever.

Went into the Sherway Gardens location today.it was total chaos. As soon as I walked in, I encountered a lady yelling at three employees at the cash. I came in for a pair of running shoes and when waiting for over 5 minutes for a size, I could hear the two ladies responsible for shoes yelling. I received attitude when the size was unavailable, as if I would have known.customer service is obsolete.

I had very bad experience with Sporting life online shopping. There was one day I received email stating one tennis shoes on sale (50% off). I placed order successfully. One week later, I received email saying my order was cancelled due to out of stock. However, the same item still available on their website!

Purchased a pair of cycling shoes and Shimano PD-M520 Pedals. When I got home I realized the Shimano pedals were missing the cleats that should be included. I called my local bike shop and confirmed that all Shimano pedals come with a set of cleats. I also confirmed this with an online retailer- Same exact product, same price, WITH cleats.

Went back the next morning to exchange for a set that included the cleats. I was told that they are not included and that I could purchase a pair for $25.

If the cleats ‘were not included’ why didn’t your sales rep sell me a pair when I bought the cycling shoes + pedals the night before. The packaging clearly show the cleats are included. They tried to convince me that the packaging shows that the cleats are ‘compatible’. This is not true, both cleats listed on the packaging are compatible with these pedals! It checks off which cleats are INCLUDED.

If you’re shopping for anything cycling related, support your local bike shop instead.

I went to the Sherway store Tuesday evening before closing. I received good help from Sai and took my purchase to the checkout counter. I asked the guy to match the price I found online for the Saucony Guide 14 mens shoes. The woman beside him immediately started shaking her head before I could even show her what I found. I showed her the site, then she used her phone and said they don’t have it in that size and they only have it in pink. I told her there are several sites with these shoes for $110 Canadian but she refused to help. I said fine and left the store without purchasing the $170 shoes. Now Sai did not get credit for his help and you lost a sale. I went home, found them online for $110 and just received them (36 hours). Win for me, loss for you. I will not return to your store after being mistreated by your checkout staff.

Russ is an absolute GEM and must be protected at all costs.
Russ took his time to help me get my ski boots fitted and fixed and taught me so much in the process. For once, I actually felt like a store staff was looking out for me and my experience with the gear I purchased. He also has great customer service skills. There had been a miscommunication with another shopper who seemed to be very upset and Russ handled the situation very calmly and nicely and managed to get the shopper the last minute help they needed. This man is truly a gem.

Unfortunately to say that we had a horrible experience with this particular establishment. Late in the year of 2021 we wanted to quickly get some last minute presents. So we decided on purchasing a Yeti mug from there. First we attempted to order it on line. The website was glitching not allowing us to order and kept throwing us out of the final checkout page. We ensured that product was available. And still it kept on cancelling. Getting extremely frustrated at this point, we called and asked to speak to a Manager who quickly checked and said her inventory shows several units but when she tried to order on her end the system would just cancel on her as well. She contacted the IT department and followed up with me. She explained the system was glitching and suggested to try again with the order later in the day.
Several hours later that day we tried again and finally we were able to get through the checkout and received the order confirmation. Unfortunately, the following day we received another email stating that our order was cancelled. After calling customer relations and explained over email the order number and what had happened they said nothing can be done this time. We won’t be ordering from this place again!

It's a big store with lots of variety to choose from. I wish they had more staff on the floor to help customers. I couldn't find anyone in men's winter coat area. I didn't find staff knowledgeable about their products. They wouldn't even offer to help or check inventory on their system. I told one of the staff that It's showing product is available at their very location online. I recommend doing your own research before heading out to this store. Know what you are looking for. Will save you time and frustration. Thanks

This morning i tried on my BURTON snowboard boots that i purchased last November. 2021. They were slightly tighter than my old burtons that were a size 10 also. I called the Sherway store after seeing they had a 10.5 in stock, they confirmed it was there and within 30 mins i was there and leaving with the right size. Russ and Francis provided me with a seamless solution/swap, even tough i was a couple days past the return policy. The customer service as this store is outstanding. Thank you all.

Tim and Christian went above and beyond during our shopping experience today. We were very satisfied with the customer service, Tim especially was extremely helpful and was able to answer all our questions and was very accommodating. We will definitely continue to choose Sporting Life at Sherway. Several staff members assisted us when choosing our winter jackets today everyone at this location seemed very knowledgeable on all the merchandise. It was a great shopping day, so happy with our purchases:)

Sporting Life continues to offer the best collection of stylish, high-quality sports apparel, equipment and superb service that I've seen anywhere - full stop. If you want the right gear and to look your absolute best, you can't go wrong at SL. Comparables are priced competitively and they also have a plethora of unique, high-end items you won't find anywhere else. Not a discount store by any stretch but they're successful for a reason. The best.

Service was good and the store seems to have good measures for cleaning and distancing. Line ups were acceptable and employees were helpful. First store I visited since stage 3 of opening measures and I am pleased with everything. Family loves shopping here due to brands & general good quality of garments. Will be visiting again in the future.

They were being very difficult and unprofessional about returning a sandal because the tag was off. They were making assumptions that were not correct. Product was never used. When I took it out of the bag of course I had to take the holder off before tryin it on. So they were implying that it was used. I have not seen anywhere in the return policy that the tag has to be on for return which is a stupid rule anyway. They should not make rules on the fly like that!

Very rude people. Tommy on the cash counter needs to be removed and sent back to training in customer service and so called store manager Bridget needs to be emphatic towards her customers. Now to the issue. I bought Ralph Lauren half pants for my daughter during the lockdown and by mistake ordered 2. I read their return policy which said you can either mail or return when the stores reopen. Since there is no store in my town I drove to west mall In Toronto to return the same after 40 day of reopening assuming my 60 days would start from the reopen date.there was receipt, tags on and unused merchandise that I asked them to take back. Tommy and Bridget kept telling me that I was wrong (though they had no proof of that) in assuming the 60 day term, kept cutting me out and were very rude as if I am lying rather than being emphatic. It was so bad that I left the merchandise on their counter and walked off without taking money back. Shame Sporting life on treating your loyal customers like this.

A comfortable come back to shopping experience. Sales and prices didn't come back in the same notion. Sale racks not what they use to be. I guess the after effects of the pandemic is a cause for recovery of lost revenues to be reflected in inflated prices and less great sale items.

Ive been looking for over a month for the north face jacket. I called today because the website said that they have the size im looking for in store. I called to ask if they can verify if it is in stock so that i can save myself a 2 hour drive for nothing. 45 mins later im still waiting for the woman who answered the call to get back to me.

I have been on hold for over 30 minutes trying to find out if they have a certain size coat in stock so I do not have to drive an hour to find out they do not have it. At least they could come back to me and let me know they are busy and I am not forgotten about.this is ridiculous. Horrible customer service.and reading above reviews it looks like this is not a one time occurrence.

Loyal customer of sporting life, recently purchased some sport equipments, visited twice because of equipment servicing.the sales were very helpful, especially the young sales who are in high school.one thing i would like to say to Mr Russ though is, please dont cough straight in front of your customer, turning away or use your sleeve when you are coughing thank you.

It's been a while since I've been to a Sporting Life. My last experience, some 10 years ago, sub par to say the least.uninterested sales people, cluttered shelves and general "garage sale" atmosphere. Well fast forward to now and things haven't changed much. I ended up purchasing a jacket ONLY because I had a gift card. Let's hope things improve in this decade.

I bought a Parajumper jacket online and it was too small. After not being able to exchange it for a bigger size because it was sold out, I went to Sporting Life. I ended up meeting the manager SEIN CHUNG. She was great even though we tried to find the jacket in a bigger size and even different colour it was sold out. She helped me look and even called another location. At the end we couldn't find anything and I ended up returning it. Thanks for all your help.

Waited 45 minutes to have racquet strung when the work order was due at much earlier. As a family we’ve been coming here over the past 10 years and have been invited to special exclusive sales. Today it was a different attitude as they didn’t care. Will no longer be shipping here.

The reason I don’t like going to large store is because there were no people helping me. I liked one of the shoes, but nobody helped me. I waited 20 mins for one of the person to get me a try on pair but then the size was wrong. And I asked her to change the size she was very reluctant to get me another pair. Ruin my whole day.very disappointed

Tried to buy two pairs of boots - on pair had a broken zipper so I asked guy to check another store, which had them. Before he could call to get them put on hold he was told to get back on floor and wait on customers because no time for calls. I then tried talking to management who said other side is busy. Only suggestion I was given was to call myself. No point shopping in store - will just buy online next time and not from sporting life. Worst customer experience and we are regular shoppers at this store.

When I first entered the store, the person I meet, was the manager himself no greetings, very haughty attitude, really discouraging.
I taught to myself waouh, which type of employee is that, he must be having a very bad day, he does not have any customer services skills.
The attitude only make you wants to go out of the store immediately, but it was my second time there and the first time I did not had that feeling, I did not see him the first time I was there, I could not imagine it was the store manager him self.
I went to the section I wanted because the week before I had purchased a Columbia sweater, I just checked the size but not the zipper, when I arrived home I cut the tags and everything, then I realize that the zipper was not working properly and the sweater was damaged on the inside, came to the store want to exchange it, the store manager refused saying that the sweater was already used, I explained everything he just said he won’t take it back

I told him what will I do with something I can’t use he told me to give it for donation if I want and just left.all of that with such an attitude you can not imagine, the store sell good thing but the minute I find a store with the same articles I will never set a food there again. Before you buy something from that store make sure you check it carefully.

I sent my goose jacket in and received a credit for it except I had to call because I haven’t heard from the staff for over 4 months when they said 6-8 weeks. If I hadn’t have called, I wouldn’t have known that I even received a credit! The staff seemed very disorganized when they were in the process of sending my jacket in. Then, I came to pick out my new goose jacket today and when I came to the cash, the representative asked for the order form which I did not have. At the time I sent my jacket in, I was told to come to the cash and give them my name and phone number and that they would have receipt and take care of it for me. I even called 3 weeks in advance to confirm that they had my receipt and they FULL ON confirmed that they had my record there. The representative who was helping us was EXTREMELY rude and unhelpful. I gave her my phone number and name and she went to search for my receipt and said she couldn’t find it. When I asked her to double check she refused and said it’s not there. Ridiculous! The way she was responding to me and answering my questions, basically made it seem like it was my problem and that she couldn’t do anything to help me, and completely left me clueless on the situation. I have wasted so much time due to the staffs disorganization and carelessness. Obviously this location doesn’t appreciate your business at all. Unbelievable.

Bought many things from this Sporting Life location before and will continue to be a return customer, came in to buy a new Canada Goose coat and the gentleman that was in that section was more then helpful helping me pick a style and size for my application, they also price matched a sweater brand I liked that another store had on sale to make me a satisfied customer! Thank you!

I walked in, asked a question about snowpants to some lady who was rude. I asked another question to another employee about skis, who was also not interested in assisting me. I eventually asked a question to Russ, who was absolutely fantastic. He is the only reason I'm giving 5 stars because he was beyond helpful, and gave me tons of helpful advice and understood my needs and sold me on a brand new pair of salomon boots which have done me wonders and fit so well. He adjusted the boots in store and gave me the pro deal in store as well. He was everything a good employee should be and the other staff should take notes. He gave me his card and I won't be going anywhere else. His advice on skis and boots and gear was very great and he made me feel really great.

Customer service and management at this location is a joke. I had a promo code and gift card and wanted to use them in the same purchase. The cashier said no. She asked a "manager" and she said no. I went home and made a purchase online with no problems. Wrote to customer service about my terrible experience with the Sherway location to which a "manager" said sorry but you can't use both. I told him I already used both in the same purchase and it's unfortunate that he doesn't know how to apply a promo code and use a gift card as a payment method in the same transaction. Every other store accepts the usage of both in store and online so Sporting Life should be no exception. Hire knowledgeable staff.

Been to this higher end sporting goods and clothing store before they carry some nice and higher end clothing as well as athletic equipment including bikes. They pretty much have all the major sports covered. The staff is usually pretty friendly and helpful but this particular visit not so much. I went in looking for a specific item. Took quite a while before I could find someone to assist. I don't think the store was overly bust at the time either. When I finally did get someone to assist me the gentleman seemed bothered by me asking him for assistance. When I showed him what I was looking for he said oh we don't have that item anymore. We shipped out all of our bikes already. I had to ask him can you check your other stores and he was like oh yeah OK. Truly it was like pulling teeth. Not my cup of tea. Nor the service level I have come to expect from this store. In any event I won't be back for a while. I'm going to not recommended this particular location as they have another location with better service.

This place has most of what you're looking for. High prices because of high end product, BUT, not always high end service. My family has had great help & horrible help. It all depends on the staff at the time of your visit.
The good staff will go out of their way to check the back stock or other locations for you. The bad ones will not make eye contact with you or work away from you (check on product/fixtures that are not near anyone)

This isnt always the outcome, there are good people out there and we cant let the few bad ones bring down the entire team/business rating.

This location is always clean & organized Some fixtures are over stocked with merchandise (but I get it, less staff on the floor means less chance of getting sizes to customers; so customers are able to find what they need without help when help is not available)

The high prices should be accompanied by high service standards, or atleast decent staff availability.

I have found since the store has moved their selections have vastly diminished i use to to buy 2 to3 pair of running shoes a year from sporting life and now the selection in Solomon and Merrill shoes pathetic
