Sportsman's Inn Resort & Marina

Spent 2 nights at Sportsman's Inn.
The room was specious, clean, with comfy beds.
Checking and checkout were fast. The lady at the front desk was welcoming, nice, and provided very useful information. Services were great, and the staff were nice and helpful.
Make sure to visit the sister resort Killarney Mountain Lodge, around 5 minutes walks, which you can get a bike, kayak/ canoe, and many more!

We'll review the accommodations and food.

Sporto's:
We ate dinner on Sat 2 Sept. It was noisy outdoors - there's a bar a few feet away, closer to the water, with some kind of informal daycare giving kids the run of the place including behind the bar itself (the bar by the dock only). The burger was not tasty - e.g. The bun was stale. The menu would benefit from adding just one healthy option. It's all fries etc. - high in saturated fats.

Anchorage Casual Dining:
We ate three times here. At breakfast on Sun 3 Sept, the bread was stale - I couldn't eat it. When given a choice of bacon, ham, or sausage, we chose ham; then the waitress asked, "Is peameal ok? " which made us think that the restaurant was out of ham. We agreed yes.learning at payment time about the $3 charge. We didn't dispute the bill because the waitress was clearly overworked (with the other tables, and from the season perhaps) and learning English and we just wanted to get on with our day. But the question in English should have been, "Would you like to upgrade to peameal? " or similar.

On Labour Day we returned for dinner which was redeemingly delicious.

At our second breakfast (5 Sept) we missed the narrow timing slot but staff accommodated us (and others), and arranged in-date bread on request, and we enjoyed our meal.

Nutrition is better than Sporto's, and prices half those of the Ranch House.

Accommodation:
The private balconies are not private in sense of having privacy, only private in the sense that you have exclusive use. I recommend they reword their two descriptions to just 'balcony' versus 'shared balcony', no longer calling anything 'private'. Perhaps we should have studied the layout of the building more before booking. There was a family with two young children inches away from us. This is in addition to the fact that you're literally at a marina with all the bustle and thoroughfare that goes with that on weekends (weekdays were quiet and had a nice atmosphere). For privacy on the weekend, we closed our curtains.

On the first day we were hit with a pong, old carpet or similar, in the corridors. In room 305 generally things could be maintained better. The bathroom fan was loud, deep and rumbly - disturbing those in the bedroom and it couldn't be deactivated without turning off the light as well, which (given the noise) seemed a regretable design choice. The fridge hadn't been defrosted in at least several months and was caked in ice. The screen door squealed, and the toilet seat wasn't balanced right so it slammed down very easily. Our one interaction with cleaners in person was very positive. Two of the bathroom fittings were grimy (using a simpler roll dispenser would simplify cleaning for staff) and two of the art pieces had prices on them which to me seemed pushy but we were glad they could be removed temporarily.

Overall we enjoyed our stay and were grateful to staff for their hospitality.

We stayed at the sportman’s inn for a friends wedding. You are able to utilize the Killarney Mountain Lodge facilities as well if you book here as they are owned by the same person. You can use the gym, water sports equipment (kayaks, water bicycles etc.) sauna and pool for free. They also have free coffee at the main reception at KLM every morning. The room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. The alcoholic beverages were not my favourite at the bars on the property so I just grabbed some of my own stuff at the lcbo just down the street. It’s a quiet, scenic place with many hiking areas around that are ready to explore. If you are looking for a much needed quiet weekend, I would look into coming here.

PS. I did not have service at all up there (freedom provider) and their internet didn’t really work for me.

Didn’t stay at the Inn as rates were unacceptably high however the pub is very good and deserves credit. Only tried the wings and was not disappointed. Good crispy and the right sauces.

Beautiful scenery here! We came at end of March, so it was still cold and snowy but still beautiful none the less. A lot wasn’t open for the winter, but we can’t wait to come back in the summer and see everything they have to offer.

Beautiful spot, Beautiful view. Highly recommend it. Also, the eggs Benedict at the restaurant located downstairs was amazing.

Cheryl was very friendly and the kitchen/ diner staff were also friendly and fast service. Great breakfast too. The room was very clean and bright. Would recommend it to anyone.

We visited for the dine-in. The food was amazing and service was great. Good ambience too.

Lots of vegetarian options to try.

Called for launching and was told to come by and when we arrived we were told that they did not offer launching. Drove to Herbies and we were on the water in minutes.
I would not bother going to this resort very snooty front desk clerk not even trying to be a helpful or polite when we asked for direction.

Interesting place, it's a remote area with a conference center, resort, and marina. We were on the George island side of the marina, initially thought that was bad. Really enjoyed being on the quiet side away from people walking thevdocks. They offer an on demand shuttle service to get to the other side. Some groceries in town, fuel, free laundry. Worth the stop.

I called for information about parking overnight as I'm heading out for a short sea kayaking trip. The lady who answered the phone was one of the nicest receptionists I've ever spoken to. I wasn't even a potential customer and she still spent time on helping me and offered several great suggestions. The quality of customer service is an excellent indicator of the overall quality of the establishment.

Beautiful facilities, great outdoor activities and good staff! Cheryl at the front desk was extremely helpful. We stayed in the cabin and also the motel. The cabin could have been cleaned better but the motel room was clean and spacious. The cabin on George Island was a good spot because of the George Island Trail. Killarney Provincial Park is just 9k out and we enjoyed the beaches and trails over there as well. Kids had a great time kayaking, swimming, biking and walking the trails.

First time in Killarney. Cant wait to go back, Sportsman's Inn is clean great food and incredible views from our balcony

We only had dinner on their patio. Great food (the tofu wrap is delicious) and their drinks are amazing too.

The patio is by the marina and offers a nice view

We came here for lunch and were pleasantly surprised. Food was excellent, staff extremely helpful, great views of the marina definitely recommend if you’re in the area.

Wi-fi and TV both don't work in the rooms, and calls to the front desk for assistance were ignored. Rooms are average, location is good

Kitty (our server) was such a wonderful person and the place is absolutely gorgeous. They have a great cocktail menu and a small but nice selection of beer on tap. It was great to spend the afternoon there. It definitely wasn't inexpensive but you get what you pay for. The food and drinks were great and both women working this past Thursday afternoon were lovely to chat with. I do think the pints work out to be cheaper than a pitcher, but that probably depends on the beer I assume.

Excellent docking facilities. Booked one night docking and then paid for a second night when we realized how nice it was there. Dock attendants were efficient, and docks are well maintained. Had to go to the fish &chips bus of course, and it was good. Lots of interesting boaters there and we shared information regarding anchorages etc. Will go there again.

Tried to go here for dinner this evening. Patio had a few tables available but servers didn’t seem to be seating anybody. We went in to ask at the bar where we should wait to be seated and the bartender said “sit wherever you like but no promises when someone will get to you”. We took a seat at one of the tables dockside where we saw a lot of scrambling from the servers apologizing to everyone that “we didn’t forget about you your food is coming”. The bartender/server we spoke to at the beginning of the night walked past us four times without acknowledging us while telling the other tables that again, they hadn’t been forgotten about. After 38 minutes of being ignored we left. Not sure what was going on in the kitchen but being acknowledged would have gone a long way. This place was a disaster and I wouldn’t recommend it

Great good. I enjoy the odd drink here to. Amazing staff & service. Beautiful views of the Killarney channel too.

Okay Willy's outdoor oyster bar is at the Sportsman's Inn Resort & Marina and omg so delicious. If you are in Killarney during the summer months you have got to stop here, we promise you won't be sorry and the Ceasar was fantastic!

We've been to Killarney lots of times in the summer months. Its a beauty hidden gem that just captures your heart anywhere you visit. In the summer months Killarney is very busy, lots of visitors and lineups everywhere, but all worth it.

In the winter months, when snowmobiling season is active, Killarney gets active again.

So visiting in the fall has proven to be a hidden opportunity for us! We're able to enjoy Killarney's great food and be able to.take it its beauty while relaxing.

We stayed in suite 307 at the Sportsman's Inn. Very clean room with spectacular views.

Things to note: The Inn doesn't have an elevator so expect stairs. Tv is equipped with a Bell satellite setup. TV isn't a smart TV so we weren't able to cast downloaded videos. The Inn does offer wifi and it's been great reception. The fireplace is a gas fireplace and that's what heats the room - wonderfully. It does also have an A/C unit for summer months.

We kept our sailboat here for 2 nights in a transient slip. Staff was very nice and professional, and there were many different amenities that you had access to. Including the Lodge, and its facilities.for a 39' boat it cost us about $120 per night. Definitely the highest we have paid, but it was nice to go paddle boarding, waterbiking, biking down for fish and chips, and using the facilities at the lodge. We will return!

Lovely place to stay, clean room facing the marina with a balcony.
The downside, the restaurant at the inn is slightly pricy and the staff wasn't that knowledge.

Here for the second annual Killarney Music Festival! A must see experience for boaters on Georgian Bay!

Facilities were ok but the water spigots at the docks had bad water. We had just arrived, checked in and they didn't say a word about it. WiFi at the docks did not work either, and then they charge you a resort fee!

Stayed at the marina for 2 nights. The staff was very responsive helping with docking, could use better directions on finding slips. As a first time visitor I didn't know they had docks on west side of channel. Staff was quite entertaining watching them dock boats. Several need more training for sure. One fell in the water. They are associated with Killarney Mountain Lodge so all amenities are available to you. It was very difficult to make a reservation as they don't answer phones very often and then hang up on you. Took 6 calls to finally make a reservation.

Food was "ok". The poutine was not at all good but my friend loved his burger. My whitefish wrap was a bit chincy in the fish department. Pricey, as it relies on tourists and cottagers. The staff were so friendly though and the view and entertainment of watching all the boaters is amazing

Had a super magical time here. Rooms were large, gorgeous view over the water, plus lovely balcony to enjoy. They offer free kayaking, cycling etc. And this really made it extra special and a wonderful surprise. A special mention to Andrew who works in the boat area, he is a real credit to the team, very knowledgeable, helpful and mature. Killarney is a very special place, especially if the weather is good. Be sure to check out sunset rock to watch the sunset too.

Good place for sportsmen, sportswomen and sportsfans to convene. Canoes and kayaks available to paddle up to the liquor control board, beers for all ages on tap, and a dreamy dock crew. Food is pretty alright, fish and chips especially good. Somebody is playing ja rule at the gas station and I forgot how bad he is. Real bad. But sportsman is good. Also I think my mother's driving may be improving despite her being in her late sixties. It's that even a thing?

Note this is being written from a Boaters perspective. We did not rent a room or suite, did not use the dining room.
2/ft for the night - a typical rate now. Add 20$ for power. +10$ resort fee. All said and done this was 119$/night.
Grounds around the building are nothing special.
Boaters showers were dirty as was the washroom in general. Shower was not even hot.
Sorry won't be back should have anchored out.

In January we booked and received confirmation from Sportsman's Inn for a 3rd floor private balcony. When we arrived in July our room had been downgraded to a 2nd floor shared balcony, at the same rate. The desk had no explanation for the change.
As for the Sportsman's Inn that we first came to over 25 years ago, all the interior character is gone, with the exception of the few historical photographs place around the Inn. Goodbye to what was once a great Canadian Inn.

(Only after emailing our January confirmation to Sportsman's Inn, they did reduce the room rate to shared balcony rate, but without an explanation or apology)

This place is so beautiful also its sportsman inn resort Restaurant is hella amazing their fish is so fresh you could not find that fresh live fished & cooked fish any where across ontario. LOVE IT!

The Sportsman's Inn has seen many changes over the years, but I think it has finally found its identity! Great service, great food, great atmosphere! It has been a huge part of Killarney's ever growing attractiveness and will be for decades to come! Visit, and create some great memories!

The staff were so accommodating and professional. The hotel was beautiful and very clean. We ate at the pub. Food and service was perfect! I highly recommend visiting Killarney and the sportsman's inn.
