Sportsman's Lodge Wilderness Resort

I’ve been going to Sportsman’s Lodge on and off for 12 years now, and this past visit was probably my best yet, because I got to meet Jim and Kim. This kind couple took it upon themselves to plug and re-inflate my tyre that had a 9” spike in it from the fire road, while their little doggo, Sam, supervised. They managed to turn a really bad situation right around for us.

I can’t wait to return to this beautiful, rustic, quintessentially Canadian lodge and resort for many years to come! Thanks again, guys!

Jim and Kim are excellent hosts! Everything was amazing; from the lodges, the property and the food. So thankful they were able to accommodate my food issues (gluten free). Thank you for an amazing weekend away!

This place is world class. A friend and i rolled into here by snowmobile around 7pm feb 28 on a whim to get fuel and find lodging. They took us in with open arms and even though they started dinner service they fed us with a 5 star meal. Jim and company has true northern hospitality. Will definitely be staying here from now on. So glad we found this lovely place. Thanks jim and co.

Accommodations are perfect. Hospitality is great. The food was excellent. Whether your snowmobiling, atving, hiking or just hanging around enjoying the outdoors. I recommend staying here its got it all.

We have been at the Sportsman Lodge for a company fishing trip and it was one of the best weekends I've had so far in Canada. The location is like a dream and there are so much things to do like fishing, ATV tours and many outdoor games. The whole staff is so lovely and they will help you with every problem or question you got. I already love this place and I will decently come back one day. Thank you Jim and Kim, you're doing such a good job.

I spent this past weekend ATVing with 3 buddies. We had a terrific time. The accommodations and home cooked meals were outstanding. Thanks Jim hope to return soon.

This was Tamarack North's second fishing trip / ATV adventure at the Sportsman's Lodge and it was epic. A total of 70 employees attended this year's event and our expectations were exceeded. Food was over the top - thanks Kim and Skip. The lodge is clean and spacious with lots of room to set up outdoor games and socialize with colleagues. Jim and his team did a superb job, great service with a smile and laughter too. We were also entertained by Jim's team when Richard fell over with laughter during the minnow race. Great times! We are looking forward to our next event in 2024. Thank you Jim and team!

Stayed at the lodge this past weekend as a group of four, accommodation, service, and staff was excellent! The meals with the lodge were homemade and delicious! A big thanks to Jim and Kim. They made our stay at the lodge relaxed, comfortable and carefree with our feet up! Il definitely return in the near future!

The owners of the Sportsman Lodge really understand service with a smile. We rented canoe from Jim and Kim for a temagami canoe trip. They graciously hosted our group and let us camp at the lodge the night before and shuttled us to the start of our adventure. When the weather turned and we couldn't find a site to set up camp we called Jim and he came to pick us up. They are so unbelievably accommodating and the friendliest people. If you have a chance, check out the Sportsman's lodge. You won't be disappointed.

Jim and Kim were considerate and friendly hosts. We used the lodge to launch a few days' canoe trip, and an overnight rest spot when we were back. A great haven of calm and service. Already planning for a return visit.

The ideal spot for the night before putting in to canoe the Chiniguchi waterway. Beautiful beach and swimming dock, attentive cheerful hosts, great dinner and breakfast, with spotless rooms that feature comfy beds and still invoke that old country cottage feeling.

Good swimming at the beach, and play area for children.
Like a cottage, so can hear others in their rooms.

Excellent launch point for canoe tripping in the Chiniguchi / Temagami region with secure vehicle parking. Jim is very friendly and helpful, pulling out maps and reviewing our planned route prior to departure; he even lent us a trowel since we had forgotten ours at home. The lodge, grounds, and waterfront are beautiful!

We had a great time at the Sportsman's Lodge Wilderness Resort the night before we started a canoe trip. We were a large group of 6 adults and 3 children.and Jim and Kim were so helpful with all our requests. Swimming is fantastic, the views wonderful, dinner and breakfast were excellent, and the cabins very clean. We will be back for sure!

Launched our canoes (and parked our van) from Sportsman's Lodge for a canoe trip in Temagami. Jim and Kim are super friendly. They were so accommodating and helpful with anything we needed. Would recommend their place in a heartbeat.

Basic accommodations, however the food and service was very good. Right on the trail for snowmobiling.

Jim and his family far exceeded all of our expectations. We went to the Sportsman Lodge for a father/daughter/son snowmobile trip that quickly came to an end when we blew an engine the same day we arrived. Thanks to Jim's generosity, we were able to get a full day of rising in, one that we will never forget. The customer service is outstanding, accomodations clean and the meals were fantastic! The location left no shortage of route options and the atmosphere was great. Jim and his team go out of their way to not only make sure that your trip is memorable but that all your trip goals are met. Do yourself a favour and book your next outdoor adventure at the lodge.

Amazing time last weekend at the Sportsman Lodge in Sudbury. Jim and his team went above and beyond for our group of 6, they provided us recommendations for snowmobile trails upon arrival, walked us to our rooms, gave us a tour, and after every meal - ensured we were enjoying ourselves. We stayed in the main lodge, rooms were very nice and warm (which was a nice thing due to the very cold temps at night). The dining hall was so picturesque- lovely view during our meals overlooking the lake. The chef was sooo lovely, chatting with us and letting us know that he could make hs something different if we didn’t like it (trust me, we all loved every meal) Everybody in the group was talking about when we could come back. Thank you Jim & your team!

Great location, clean and comfortable accommodation. Food was fantastic, and Jim and the crew went above and beyond to ensure your stay is a good one. Was part of a group of 25, and would highly recommend staying here, and they are able to handle groups of any size.

Jim & all the staff were amazing, went on a sled trip with a bunch of guys, food was amazing, accommodations were perfect! Stayed in the main lodge, great time, tons of laughs! I would highly recommend this to anyone. Planning a side by side trip in the summer. Thanks for putting up with us!

Rented a canoe from the lodge. Great service on the phone and in person. We didn't stay here overnight but the location looked beautiful. Lake view for days.

Great place to be with Family or Friends. Loved the rustic feel of the place. Jim and Kim are amazing hosts. They make you feel at home and are always there to help. Jim would have probably made more money as a "Radio Host" than being the owner of the Lodge.lol. Sorry Jim.had to say it. But a great guy to share stories. Stayed there for 4 days with family and friends and enjoyed every moment. Whether you are looking for a place to spend some quiet time reading a book, canoeing, fishing or hosting a group event, this is a place to be. Would love to visit this place in Fall and Winter. The colors would be amazing. Great fishing for Bass (although myself did not catch much), however if you have a boat license you can rent one or rent a canoe. There are other lakes close by, which would be a great place to explore. Although there are other private cottages close by, but still very quiet and peaceful. Right by the lake so loved the water. Looking forward to visiting this place again. Thanks once again Jim and Kim and wish you all the best.

My family just had a great vacation at Sportsman’s Lodge. Beautiful location. Very well kept. Cottages were very clean and well stocked. Jim and Kim are terrific hosts! Jim always works hard to ensure you have a great stay. Always smiling and willing to help with anything you might need. It was a pleasure to meet you both and we can’t wait to return to your amazing resort!
The only bad thing about our vacation there was having to leave.

Thanks Jim for the wonderful stay, the sportsman lodge is well maintained. We had a great time with our kids and grandkids. The property is well kept and cabins are really nice. We had fun on the beach and the grandkids had lots of fun exploring. The Sportsman lodge is great for the whole family, lots to do.

We had an amazing 4 night stay and hope to come back! The owners are so sweet and extremely accommodating. The food was absolutely delicious! Our whole group always looked forward to the next meal. There are plenty of great trails nice and close. I would highly recommend this place for adventure seekers:)

So I just got back from a canoe trip and was fortunate enough to have met such a great owner, great hospitality, and willing to make everyone happy, even if it was wearing himself out. My girlfriend and I rented a canoe and got into trouble. Regardless of the damage the owner was very reasonable and completely understanding! Nice to know there’s still good people out there! I’ll be revisiting again without a doubt!

In July, my friends and I rented two canoes and drop off/pick up services for a backcountry Chiniguchi canoe trip.
It was our second time using Sportsman's Lodge, the previous time being in 2019. I was a bit hesitant to use Sportman's Lodge again since in 2019 we had to pay for a life jacket that they said came back in too rough of shape. It was definitely past its "lifetime" before we used it but I wasn't up for arguing about it at the time. When I saw that Sportman's Lodge was under new ownership, we felt more confident about giving it another go. The new owner Jim was friendly and easy-going. He was great at getting back to me promptly and was flexible about drop off/pick up times. The lodge was full so he offered for us to camp on site for cheap the night before our trip. We decided to just stay in Sudbury instead but we appreciated the offer. Jim personally was the one who loaded up our canoes and did our drop off/pick up. He is a down to earth guy and it was clear that he genuinely cares about his customers and their experience at the lodge. For pick up, he told us to text him if we were early and he could come get us. We got there early but figured it wouldn't change much if we texted him because of how long it would take for him to get to the dock - then to our surprise he came 15 minutes early anyways! After we returned to the lodge site, he let us use the washrooms to get changed into clean clothes/fill up our water bottles for our drive home. We had a great experience and now would love to come back for a trip to the lodge itself!

My friends and I rented two canoes from here and Jim was awesome! When we realized we could not transport the canoes ourselves he drove us to and from our launch point without hesitation. Extremely accommodating and nice guy. Would rent here again and I hope that we get to return to the area soon.

I had a fantastic experience here. Everything was great from the coffee to the service. They were so helpful. Jim and Kim’s (the new owners) friendliness was the highlight of it. Made me feel like I was with family. I’ll be planning to stay longer next time

The new owner, Jim, was extremely hospitable and attentive to our welfare. All the staff we met were friendly and personable. Kukagami Lake is very beautiful, with scenic islands and shores and pristine waters. We enjoyed our wholesome breakfasts and dinners at the lodge, and received packed lunches that we took with us in our boat and used for picnics on the shore.
A great experience overall!

Under new ownership - Jim Stewart. The Sportsman’s lodge is by far the BEST I’ve ever been to. Great customer service, location is neat/tidy, Jim and his wife are so pleasant and accommodating! (Lodge & accommodations are beautifully handcrafted with milled wood from 1950’s) Went for the weekend as a group of people, and had the best fishing we ever got into. I highly suggest this location. Certainly will be going back! Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to go here.

We rented a canoe from Jim for a trip up through Chiniguchi/Evelyn/Donald. He let us camp the night before we launched, gave us coffee in the morning, and shuttled us and all our gear to the access point. Though we didn't stay in the lodge, it looked like a really cool spot, the log buildings are all real neat. I certainly intend to return for a weekend away, and highly recommend it as a canoe trip starting point.

Jim (the new owner) was very nice and accommodating. The lodges looked really nice and cozy but we just camped out back and did a canoe trip around the surrounding lakes. He was super nice, we rented a canoe and it was affordable and it good shape. Really helpful guy, really great to spend the night there before heading out so we could just hit the water first thing. I would absolutely recommend going up!

Jim the new owner was a great host with great suggestions for us to sight see on our atvs.food was excellent and tower lodge was beautiful to stay in.recommend this place highly to anyone needing a spot to stay for atving.

The owner, Jim, definitely made this experience worth the drive and the money. The 21km stretch of road leading up to the place does not have very many signs that lead you to the lodge and cell reception is along that road isn't available, so I highly suggest printing out instructions or a map to get to the lodge.

Aside from the drive, my family had a great time at the well-maintained, cozy Main lodge. Jim made everything (from the bbq grill and propane to firewood for bonfires) readily available for us and was so kind to us throught our stay.

The lake and dock that the property looks out on was also well maintained and amazing for a swim. One thing to remember though, is that when the sun goes down, the mosquitos come up. This is a wilderness resort after all!

Was a pleasure connecting with Jim, the new owner, to plan our back country canoe trip. We called way back in the winter of 2020 trying to get a head start on planning our summer. He was accommodating, let us call back closer to the date to confirm details and made great suggestions for our canoe and gear rental. We parked at the Lodge and it was wonderful to know our car was safe while we were out in the back country. Jim drove us to and from our canoe launch site and made sure we got off safely. When we returned early from our travels, he came to pick us up as soon as we gave him a call to know of the change of plans. Looking forward to seeing you next year Jim! Thanks for everything.

Used Sportsmans Lodge as an outfitter & jump-off point for a 6 day canoe trip through the Chiniguchi Waterway PP. Jim (new owner this year) was incredibly accommodating and super laid back with our changing plans. The rental canoe was great (kevlar) and the price was fair. Jim let us camp out the night before and shuttled us to Matagamasi in the morning. Our trip ended back at the Lodge and buying some ice cold beers after our week out was just an added bonus. Highly recommended for canoeists!

Spent the weekend here for a girls weekend and we all had an amazing experience! The food was great and they accommodated our party’s dietary restrictions. The lodge we stayed in was gorgeous and had a great view of the lake! The new owners were extremely kind and went out of their way to even help us blow up our floaties lol! 5-stars:) We will be back!

The Sportsman’s Lodge is without a doubt an absolutely amazing place to stay, The owners Jim and Kim are the most kind hearted and welcoming people you could ever wish for when staying anywhere. They make the lodge a home away from home that’ll have you wishing you’d never have to leave! There’s something for everyone weather it be a relaxing day down by the water, Out fishing on the crystal clear lake with boat rentals available right from the lodge itself! As well as hundreds of kilometres of Off-road trails for atvs and hikers alike.

Jim is a fantastic host - very pleasant guy who goes out of his way to make sure you are taken care of. The Lodge is most beautiful and most scenic place in Ontario. A great place to take a vacation or get outfitted for a canoe trip. Worth the drive out to Sportsman Lodge. Thank you Jim.

Well maintained lodge which has kept its historic rustic feeling.
And the owner (Jim and Family) was more than accommodating attending to all details for the ultimate experience.
