St. Jacobs & Aberfoyle Model Railway

A great place to visit in KW!
It will be missed when it moves so please go before it closes Dec. 11,2023.

Beautifil model railroad with impressive detail. Staff very helpful answering questions and pointing out things to see.
Unfortunately, the layout is permamently closing December 10th so see it now. Hopeful it will reopen in new location in the future

If you are interested in model trains, this is a must see. Make sure you stay for night scene taht repeats, the attention to detail is incredible.

I visited this place with my grandson. We both enjoyed it very much. Volunteers basically run the place. They milled around those of us who were there as visitors and answered our questions. Trains ran off and on throughout the time we were there. They had nighttime operations where there were lights on the trains and in the models with dimmed room lights. Highly recommended!

Very cool place.i went today feb 20 family day and it was so busy could barely walk or see things.i found out about this place from Facebook add and jt sure brought people in.i will go back when it not busy so i actually can see and enjoy the amazing displays and quialty crafmanship of the train dispalys.

My boys certainly enjoyed it. It's smaller than I expected (yes, I hear the irony!), with only a single room of trains and tracks, but the detail is impressive. If you let yourself take your time, it's good fun-although I'm not sure it's worth the normal sticker price (we went on a day kids got in free).

We have lived in Waterloo for years and had no idea this place existed.

Highly recommend for locals and visitors. We enjoyed history and commentary.

An inexpensive afternoon that was well worth the time.

This place is amazing not only with a collection of railway cars. This is history! It's such a colossal job to put it all together, to watch it, to take care of it, to keep it in working order, and to surprise visitors, from small to adults, with this human care.

A wonderful layout with especially great light effects. The transitions from day to night really give you the best of both worlds! We had the good fortune of having one of the founding members from 50 years ago on hand to walk us through the layout.
When you think you've seen everything, look closer. The level of detail is incredible.and all hand-made!

Friendly staff and great big display with multiple trsins running on it. Staff are great for helping you getting to know more about the railway.
