St. Mary’s General Hospital

If I could give 0 stars. I would. My friend and I went to St. Mary's after Telehealth advised us to seek emergency care. Unfortunately, she got a large splinter in her behind. After we got into the emergency room, we were seen by Dr. Christine Johnstone, who misdiagnosed my friend and was very adamant about her diagnosis. She then proceeded to perform a procedure for the incorrect diagnosis with inadequate sanitation and care for the comfort of our friend (immediately used a scalpel to make an incision without waiting for the numbing to settle). She neglected our concerns in regard to what was the actual issue. Immediately, we knew we had to seek a second opinion. The next morning, we went to a new hospital down in Toronto where the doctor falsified the initial diagnosis made by Dr Johnstone. He proceeded to take out a piece of wood that was around FOUR CENIMETERS LONG. We feel as though my friend's situation deserves to be heard about.

It was long wait to see the doctor. But when i met dr. Allaa haddad made me feel great and got my kid shoulder fixed in such a great time. Nurses was helping and doing great job. Night before i was at grand river hospital kitchener it was a nightmare. With bad experience doctor.

I had emergent open hiatal hernia surgery in June 2023. Dr.kilmurry was my surgeon.
I can’t thank him enough. He has been fantastic throughout the whole process and continues to be now. He is the best surgeon. Who has the most knowledge and gives the best patient care. I trust him totally.
I received the best care from his team as well. I have to also mention Heather Goody NP. Her compassion and care is something i will never ever forget.
I spent 3.5 days in the ICU following my surgery. Even though some of that I don’t remember due to having some brain fog. I want to thank all the amazing nurses and staff for the care i received there. As well all the amazing care I received from all the nurses and staff after being moved upstairs to the 3rd floor.
I’ve always heard how amazing this hospital is.but when you become the patient and realize all that is true you become so thankful. I could not be more grateful
The best hospital by far!

Awesome staff who quickly diagnosed my problem. I really have huge respect for all of them who treated me. They are the most respectful, kind, compassionate people that I've met! Thank you so much again!

I went in for an ablation on September 6,2023 and I do not have words that can describe my experience.

From registration to discharge this was an outstanding process.

All staff were extremely professional and helpful. The or/recovery room nurse were awesome, Dr Chan was the best with a fantastic bedside manner, the anaesthetist was great AND the nurses of the PHIU Unit are true angels. They quickly dealt with my anxiousness while the did what was needed to prepare me for the procedure and to be discharged after it was over.

Thank you to each of you from the bottom of my now functioning heart.

Absolutely horrendous. I was refused any xray or ultrasound of my shoulder because it was diagnosed with tendinitis 3 tears ago. Even when telling the doctor who "examined" me in ambulatory care that it has becoming worse and worse. To top that off I had multiple people pushed infront of me with similar symptoms.

St. Marys is the best compared to the rest around. Staff are excellent and nice. But it would work more if the place is clean. I had a visit for ER, and the place was so dirty with open trash filled, and the floor was not clean at all.

Other than that, everything was smooth and handled professionally.

I went to emergency at 10 am, left it around 11pm.
Doctor requested Xray for me. After it is done, several hours later, doctor then requested CT scan for me.
One nurse did IV wrongly to my arm and caused my arm was expanding and extreme painful during CT scan. Doctor thought the result was useless and requested second CT scan for me.
Both quality of service and quality of experience were poor during my visit.

I love how the nurses take care of me, especially their name is Lauren and Ash. I wish i gonna thank to them one day.

We came to the ER because I was experiencing chest pain. Nurses and doctors were nice and worked efficiently. Hospital is clean and waiting time was quick. Overall a very well run hospital!

I experienced bad left chest pain for 8+ hours. I was too stubborn to go the hospital because I was worried it would take too long to be seen. As soon as I arrived, my pain went away. I felt silly to even bother. My husband said I should get it looked at anyway as I am pregnant. To my surprise, I was seen right away and there were several tests done on me. Lovely staff too! Coming back in Oct to give birth and feeling a little less nervous about.

My friend got an operation done from this hospital and after a week the swelling did not go and the area where iperated got infected.when went to emergency regarding this issue, he was resgistered and then asked to wait.after changing chairs and beds and waiting for 7hrs we finally get to see the doctor.

Stop asking for the Vax to work here, you're clearly understaffed if asking a heart attack patient to be quiet and sit down after trying to call in staff for a night shift. Pathetic

Staff and nurse are the best. The hospital is in need of repairs. The room my wife was put in after having major heart surgery. Had a big chunk of Plaster missing from the wall right behind the bed.how do you sanitize that.
Upper management should get their back side out of their ivory tower and tour the hospital. They might be in for a major eye opening.
Another one that made me shake my head was.the man door entrance beside the revolving door never closed properly in the 6 days l visited the hospital.
A simple adjustment of the door closer arm.
Were was maintenance?

I, unfortunately, was at St. Mary's hospital E. D.on June 11th. Can't say enough about the wonderful staff! Compassionate and caring. No issues here! Respect begets respect! I think we have forgotten how hard these folks work.

Very happy with the staff at St Mary's hospital especially Dr Higgins and all the nurses in the cardio and cardio icu units. Dr Higgins performed a triple bypass surgery on my 70 year old father with no complications. It is now 6 months later and he's still feeling good and praising the job she did. Dr Higgins and staff, my whole family couldn't be more grateful to have you taking care of him. Kaz sends his thanks and wishes you all the very best.

Its heart day at st Mary's.i came in with a heart issue *heart palaptions and symptoms of heart attack. I was seen by first nurse described symptoms told to wait in room.i waited and withing seconds was asked to move I moved over I was again to move. I moved over again a third time I was asked to move for privacy. I did, I then waited for a patient to be seen and then was hoping to be seen due to emergency I was having the nurse then proceeded to call 2 separate people to schedule them for tonights shift well I'm standing their gripping my chest. I was called up Immediate stated that the nurse should be registereing patients over staff scheduling issues prioritized
staff of the emergency room patients.should never happen I was then asked to be queit and let her register me she aske me a question (have I stayed overnight in the hospital in the last (##) I responded no and only no nothing else.apperantly my response of no had to much tone and she told me to leave the emergency room or security will be called.i then called ambulance to the front of the hospital to take me to another hospital which they ran tests and deemed its an issues so I ended in awhole nother city * (cambridge) well having heart issues which EVEN now stuggling with this was today on heart day you turned away someone struggling with heart problems.when people talk about healthcare workers only working for a paycheck they mean hospitals like with workers like that. You can't take any constructive criticism whatsoever and punish the public for saying anything at any point with any tone because I was not rude this directly affected me and it's funny this is not the first story that this has happened recently and I do plan on making a deal about this like this cuz no one cared for the half an hour that I was struggling out front of this hospital with heart issues on heart day

We went to ER. The staff were very accommodating and eager to help our baby daughter. The team worked together to assess her and make her smile. Thank you for all you do.

Had a great experience today with the staff in the Nuclear Medicine department. Everyone was so pleasant, very welcoming. They made a stressful appointment to be very positive. Thank-you!
