Very good restaurant had lobster, crab, fish and vegetables with tofu, scallops and shrimps, live green bass, sweet and sour pork!

Food came out very fast and everything tasted amazing. Price was great too. Would recommend!

My husband and I booked a private room to host a dinner for relatives following our wedding.
From a service perspective, Manager Li was quite helpful in person and over the phone. The food was served banquet-style (e.g. Server portioned lobster for each guest) and the servers were attentive with tea, dish clearing, high chair requests, and the like.
With respect to the food, our guests were delighted with the taste and the ingredients (e.g. The seafood was live, the pork was a more expensive marbled cut, and the snow pea sprouts had delicate stalks). For context, our families are both Chinese and my parents are from Hong Kong.
Last but not least, the room was relatively quiet, private (actual walls not just screens), and spacious enough for people to comfortably manoeuvre around.

An extremely well executed and amazing value set-menu for 6…… that’s enough to feed 8!

Our delectable and enjoyable meal tonight met and exceeded all essential dining criteria of quality, quantity, taste and value! Add to them, professional service provided by a group of friendly and attentive servers and voila, a delightful and memorable dinner was created.

Our chosen set menu consisted of the following dishes:

1) Soup of the day (Watercress, red dates, almonds and Pork)
2) 5 Lbs Lobster 3 ways:
- Stir fried lobster tails with Maggi Sauce.
- Steamed claws and head with Chinese rice wine, minced garlic
on bed of Rice vermicelli
- Steamed egg custard ‘chawanmushi’ with lobster tamale
3) Stirred fry jumbo Hokkaido diver Scallops, Tiger Prawns and
mixed vegetables with XO sauce
4) Wok Seared Beef Filet Mignon cubes with French Mustard.
5) House special, whole Grand-Father, 5 Flavour Braised Duck
6) Stir fried King Mushroom with Pea Shoots
7) Stirred fry Florida Yellowfin Grouper paired with Chinese Kale (
Gai-Lan) - Optional addition.
Duo desserts of Mung Bean dessert soup and Dark chocolate
ice cream cake

With the kitchen performing at top of its form. IMO, currently, Starchiva is undoubtedly at or near the pinnacle in providing commendable, high-class Seafood centric, Cantonese Cuisine in the Richmond Hill/Markham area.

Every dish we had here was delectable. Great flavour and good attention to texture.

The crab hot pot with vermicelli was unique and is a must order. The vermicelli was stir fried with egg, and the crab was perfectly seasoned, then fried. We were licking our fingers afterwards!

The lobster was also perfectly seasoned and fried. Super crispy and finger licking too.

The clams had a nice spicy kick and the chicken had the perfect crispy skin.
We also ordered the salted egg bitter melon/pumpkin which again, was crispy and had the perfect ratio of salted egg coating.
We had a lot of fried/flash-fried dishes however, nothing felt too oily/heavy (that’s when you know they used good oil).

Even the cake they served as dessert was beyond my expectation. Good flavour and not too sweet. We got the matcha mousse and tiramisu.

Would recommend this place.

Food is not bad and service is attentive but the floor and everything feel dirty.

They use some sort of stand to partition between tables but honestly we don’t feel much improvement in privacy.

Most of the items are pretty salty.

However, the winter melon soup is under seasoned and lack ingredients. I have had better ones at other places at similar price.

We are a group of 4 persons, ordered a lobster set for dinner. The lobster and all other dishes are so delicious. The service is excellent. Will definitely come back for dinner again.

Traditional Cantonese cuisine, they serve seafoods and set menus. The quality is above average, just it can get busy during weekends, so call ahead to reserve. Also since it’s a busy restaurant, it’s a bit noisy inside. Staff service is average Chinese service, foods are served fast though!

Food taste pretty good, esp the Maggi Lobsters. We ordered the set dinner with 3lbs lobster, shrimp with snow peas, shredded chicken (half) and a dish of veggies for $138. It was a pretty good deal. We added the Fried beef tenderloin with potatoes and sweet peppers, it was good too.
Service is ok and could be better.
The problem of this location is parking.

This was my time at Starchiva, the first time being over a year, and I and happy to say that both experiences were five star experiences. Our favorite dish was the duck. It packed a lot of flavor and the meat was really tender. A close second of ours was the sweet and sour pork. We weren’t disappointed with anything we got. Seems like this establishment is fairly consistent with their quality!

Very yummy but smaller portions compared to other Chinese restaurants - also, there are a few menu items that need to be “reserved” ahead of time, which we didn’t know about so you will have to be prepared to settle for a substitute option

Suddenly, I felt bored and fingered all the pictures I took in the past. Found that we visited this restaurant in January 2023.

Huge portions of single dishes and quality are maintained fresh at our dinner night. Only one or two dishes are needed to improve, and the overall tasty and delicious meals always earn a return customer like me.

I'm glad we have been served with an honest waitress, and she recommended that we order a good portion of dinner set instead of by headcount.

Great Cantonese restaurant option in the area, this location used to be a dim sum restaurant and is now offering a good variety of dishes, and we’ve enjoyed dining here the few times we have been the last few months. Solid recommendation, service has been good as well comparing to similar Cantonese restaurants.

We had a bad experience on the 15th of January for a pre celebration for Chinese New Year dinner, supposedly it should be from 6: 30 to 8: 30 pm, a waitress informed us at 8: 05, people are waiting in line, we do not mind to leave earlier if they needed the table that bad, however, she was packing our leftovers with an intensified bad attitude, really spoiled the dinner and the moods for us after all, food is not bad but service needs lots of improvement.

All the typical plates you'd expect at an Chinese restaurant, but the taste and quality is simply a level up on others. I've been accustomed to these meals over the years but I was very surprised how little bits of attention were made to each meal. Clean and a nice decor, but the food really stands out.

This authentic Chinese food, ahhh I forgot to take photos. 10 of us, $430 total with a 5.3 lbs lobster?

Starchiva Cuisine is located at East Beaver Creek (not to be mistaken with its HK style cafe counterpart, Starchiva Restaurant, at Times Square). The restaurant is housed in the space that used to be occupied by Dragonboat Fusion. Like its former occupant, Starchiva Cuisine seems to be popular and was super busy when we went, which was surprising for a weeknight. Reservations are highly recommended! Also, be prepared to have to scout for parking (anyone familiar with this spot will not find this surprising). Overall, food quality was good, and the portions were big; we ordered a 4-person set meal for 4 adults and 2 kids, but could not finish everything. The service was decent and efficient, and our food came quickly. We plan to have a special occasion dinner here in a few weeks, so will maybe post an update once that happens!

This is my 2nd visit for lunch. Not get me disappointed. Each dish is in fair size and tasty. Whole experience is good. I will recommend this restaurant and will comr back again.

Dining in a big group with 16 x persons. Lobster and sweet and sour pork were extremely yummy. Our host had ordered a 8 x PAX dinner set but the portion was so big that we had to pack the leftovers in takeaway boxes. A big thumb up to the dining experience. Highly recommend to anyone who is expecting good Chinese seafood in Richmond Hill.

We have heard mixed comments about this place and our lunch experience on Father’s Day was a positive one.

Portion are huge and food came really quickly. Service is also superb. Price is I say normal for this type of restaurant, but be sure to make a reservation if you want to try it, I overheard them turning away walk in customers at opening!

Excellent service and food. Twice in a week already! Make sure you'll reserve your table ahead of time for weekend!

Price is fair, food is good, service is nice, what more can you expext.

Tasty food served in fairly large portions with friendly service. Could use more convenient parking spaces (there are ample parking spaces, just not right outside, though this shortcoming is not their fault).

Used to be amazing value for AMAZING cantonese food.
Prices have since gone up, doesn't feel worth it anymore =/.
Food's still amazing though. If you want Cantonese food, come here. If you are willing to spend a little extra.

I did enjoy our dinner at Starchiva. Their dishes was a bit different than most Chinese seafood restaurants.

We ordered shrimp and lobster, scallops and veggies, they all taste good! Combos are good value but cash only. I love their desserts too esp the cheesecake. However they turned the air conditioner too high which causes food turning cold quickly.

DISGUSTING customer service; turned away a family of 3 at a time that wasn’t busy. Restaurant clearly had empty seating. Front desk lady was extremely unpleasant and didn’t give us an estimate for how long to wait, nor did she sound sympathetic. She simply gave us a one worded answer: “busy” and turned us away. Probably racially motivated. Maybe hire staff that actually want to help people and have some social skills. Don’t waste your time here

Very pricey, service so so, tables too close to each other, foods average, parking far away long walk, if you pay by credit cards they charge $5.00 dollars extra on top, I asked why? The young man replied very rude voice. Said restaurant policy, most ridiculous policy I ever heard. Very disappointed, I will never go back again, not recommended.

Their quality of foods are quite up and down, some are good but some still need an improvement. Especially I upgraded the 7 lbs lobster from their menu but when it comes to the table; I noticed that some pieces are missing and it doesn't look like the 7 lbs of lobster I ordered. It is way less of 7 lbs

First visit to the restaurant, very spacious and clean. Order set menu, taste OK, big portion, affordable price, service is good. The duck has to be pre ordered.

Food is excellent! Service is good despite they are so busy. They have partitions to separate tables which make us feel more comfortable and relatively safe.

I would give the food a four star and atmosphere three star. The food there is very good, and comes quickly and right temperature. We went in late August 2021 during covid and the table beside us was not well spaced. In addition, washrooms felt unclean and did not have soap.

For a Tuesday night this place was packed. Reservations needed if you plan on dining on weekends! Food was very good for the price. Will be back again.

I wish I remembered to take photos of the food, as their set menu items were all quite tasty. Some of the dishes had unique flavours that I have not had elsewhere, which was surprising. The service is decent, though it can be quite busy.

Food is good, service is terrible when spending approx. $170. However, if you have 12 people for a table and spend 500+, you for sure will receive the "full attention".

Tried their takeout duck and ribs. The duck was slightly salty but has a good unique taste that is not found at many places. The ribs are okay, nothing worth going out of your way to get. When I called in the person answering the phone was quick and efficient. The pick up was also quick since I arrive at 5: 30 before dinner busy hours. There were 3 to 4 tables of dine in at the time. For dine in be aware that this place has limited parking that is shared with other tenants. If you have older ppl in your party, drop them off and park in the lot below.
