Starks Barber Company

It’s ok - clean place. Friendly service but not the best cut and shave around. I only go here if I’m desperate for a last minute cut because they always have availability which is a definite plus. It’s almost 4 stars but not quite there.

On July 18, i went to Starks Barber Company at yonge & Lawrence location. I booked with Lucía. It was my very first time coming to Starks. Lucía communicated effectively with me in how i want my haircut and suggested ideas. If you need someone to speak in spanish, Lucía is the one! I would recommend Lucia. I had an amazing Starks experience! Thanks Lucía!

I just had my first time. It was absolutely fantastic, Maria was wonderful. They have a new consistent customer.

All the staff are amazing and accommodating. The manager Lucia fixed me a quick service on the spot even though I had just walked in. The price was more than fair. They even allowed me to bring in my bicycle inside their premises in order to avoid an undesired surprise upon leaving their place with all bicycles robbery in this city. I totally advise everybody to go get their haircut done at Starks. You guys are awesome!

In Toronto there are few places that still treat you like a human being. This is one of them. The receptionist (Lucia) is one of the kindest people you’ll ever meet and all of their barbers are incredibly detail oriented.

If anything goes wrong with my reservation (which has only happened once in my time there) they reach out to me immediately with a solution. Which is very different from other places I’ve had the unfortunate experience of going to.

I highly recommend the Starks Treatment from Venetsia or Tina. You’re getting service there that easily runs you upwards of $60+ at other barbers in this area/downtown.

Really nice people and good service but NOT WORTH THEIR PRICE. Would not recommend for men looking for a nice trim

Starks Barbers Shop at the Yonge and Lawrence location is hands down the best barber shop I have ever been to! The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and always make sure you leave with a perfect haircut. I've been going there for years now and I've never left disappointed. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and they always have the latest magazines and sports events playing on the TV. I highly recommend this barber shop to anyone looking for an excellent grooming experience. 5 stars all the way! I had a great experience yesterday at Starks. I went in for the Express treatment (basically a men's cut and shampoo). The atmosphere was friendly, while also being very professional. Michelle gave me a great cut, and made me feel relaxed. Going to a barber/stylist is about more than just the cut (which was excellent), it's also about the feel of the place, and Starks has this down pat. Highly recommended!

Needed a haircut in a hurry and so tried Starks as my usual barber was closed. Glad I did as the experience and the end result were both excellent. I found the cost to be reasonable and will be checking out the membership options

My first experience at Starks was awesome! I felt welcomed and received a great package which included a shoulder massage and a hot towel facial treatment. The staff is very professional and friendly. Can’t wait for my next cut!

They allowed a man to get there hair cut without wearing a mask. Decent haircut but will not go back. (Initially 1 star)

Update: the owner reached out to me and explained that not wearing a mask is not welcome behaviour. And that this is only the second instance of it happening.

I first started coming to Starks about a year ago as my normal shop was still closed due to the pandemic and I immediately fell in love with the shop, the service and the staff. Staff are patient and sweet and very reliable! I’ve never once left here disappointed with my cut. Highly recommend!

Highly recommend Starks! I've been bouncing from barbershop to barbershop in search of a good one for years and I can finally say my search has ended. Staff and service are incredible with great prices that you can't find anywhere else.

I was pleasantly surprised stumbling across Starks. I did a lot of research before coming in as I’m new to the city and was extremely satisfied with the service. Even though I was a new client, they treated me like I’ve been going there for years. The haircut and shave was top notch. I will definitely be back here for all my future hair appointments!

This is a personal escape from reality for the time you are there. So good I decided to purchase the membership giving me real value for my dollar spent!

I used to see another stylist here who is no longer with Starks. When one of my two current stylists cancelled on me, for the third consecutive time, I kept this place in mind. It's clean, airy, great set up with wash sinks on one side and hair cuts on the other. 90's rock or 70's rock plays which are two of my favourites genres of music. It's not cramped or cluttered like most shops trying to conserve square footage. Although, I do get rent is expensive in Toronto.

My stylist, this time around, happened to be Andrea V and I saw her twice, so far. Absolutely enchanting this one. Easy on the eyes, smells fab and can hold a conversation though she's a bit shy. She can bang out a text book fade and uses her liner for a ball fade not a micro foil shaver. I prefer micro foil as the fade is smooth and clean like my face. On a date night I try to look my best. Even with my preferences as a such I would still give her a five star rating. I wouldn't hesitate seeing her again.

I love the idea of a higher caliber experience. I love a crisp fade and my head and neck being massaged. Being a Taurus it gets me deep inside my feelings. I'm in a place of healing in my life and this is particularly important to me. If you can relate, go see Andrea. She is sure not to disappoint.

Been here since the company started in Unionville. Been with the same barber since day 1.5 star treatment. Pricing could be more competitive.

Jessica did a phenomenal job with my hair this morning. I've been looking for a new barbershop since my previous barber retired and it looks like I've found my go to spot. Not only was Jessica very friendly, she asked all the right questions to ensure my hair looked great. The treatment itself was awesome. Starting with the wash I enjoyed the light minty smell of the shampoo and conditioner. Following my cut I was treated to a hot towel treatment and scalp massage that was a great start to my Sunday. The shop itself is very clean and well organized.

Great barber shop, friendly staff, they take their time so its not exactly a fast in and out cut but I like that. I would reccomend getting the Starks Treatment.

Best barber shop I've been to so far. I've been to very high class barbers and paid ridiculous prices.

I have been getting my beard trimmed down town for the past two years. I have never been disappointed with the grooming, but the distance was wearing me down. I have been looking for other options closer to my home when I decided to check out Starks.

I took the time to go in and ask if they groomed beards and if they were experienced. I was assured they did and were very experienced.

In approximately five minutes into the trim I had to ask the barber to stop.

I have, or rather had, a very full beard. After trimming the right side of my beard, I could see that my beard was being trimmed to short and that if the trim continued I was at risk of losing my beard length and shape. I addressed this with the barber and I was told that it would all blend in. I allowed the barber to tend to the other side but slowly watched the shape of my beard be trimmed away. After trimming the left side, I no longer wanted to proceed, not willing to risk the potential of having my beard salvaged at my go to beard barber.

The barber was very nice, I wish her no harm, but I need to state my honest opinion about this barbershop.

This barber shop has a nice space, with nice decor, in a nice neighbourhood. This gives the appearance of a high end barbershop which gives the impression that the services will be top rate.

Beards take a long to time to grow. I have been having it groomed for two years to maintain its length and shape. After all of that time and money, five minutes ruined it.

My opinion is Starks Barber Company is a corporate franchise. It sell Starks razors at the cash and carries a line of Starks hair products. There is an obvious effort to create an ambience of a hip high scale barber shop, but what it really is is a First Choice Hair Cutters with the outward appearance of being a high end barbershop.

This is not meant to offend First Choice, but when you go to First Choice you don't expect to get Yorkville hair cut.

I don't know how proficient they are at hair cuts.just be warned.

There is nothing worse than paying someone to screw up your hair, or in this situation, your beard. The one good thing about Starks Barbershop though is they didn't charge me and even offered me a gift certificate.

If you have a full beard, I would suggest not risking it at Starks. Tomorrow I will have to make my way downtown and try to accept whatever beard my barber can make out of what is currently left of the beard she had created for me.

Went in asking for a clean shave on the day of a friend’s wedding. Waited past my appointment time and ended up having to clean shave at home later. Their barbers don’t know how to operate a razor blade at all let alone a straight razor. I would avoid at all costs. You’re better off buying a $5 razor cartridge and doing it yourself.

Great spot for a haircut. They provide a wide range of services at affordable prices, and their stylists are always friendly.

Great first experience. It’s well priced for Toronto and you get a little shoulder massage and wet towel for your face. Natalie was amazing and very friendly. Would sure visit again and recommend to people too. ️

I recently moved around the Yonge and Eg area and was referred to Starks by a friend.

The service has been great the two times I have visited and the staff are welcoming and professional. I've left both times very satisfied with my new hair. Special shout outs to their receptionist; she's fantastic.

Men knows instantly if the hairdresser or barber is inexperienced or lack of skills. This place looks neat but that's it. Don't waste your money. Seriously, it's a worst haircut of the decade for me.
