Had issues with tv recording, Sheri was genuinely upset about this and said that it should not have happened and escalated the ticket. She also promised to let me know about any updates. Well they were good to their word and the next day I was sent an apology for the inconvenience and a solution. I was also sent a link to watch the very game that did not record. Pretty happy with Start, super easy transfer from Rogers. Starts Technicians and Phone lines are always available. Super easy to talk to someone. Just awaiting the day my area gets fibre.

I was with start.ca for almost 10 years! Everything was great up until this past year. The connection upading stream was vague and glitchy. We had a tech come out to service the issue. It was ok again for a short time, the issue would come and go and different period times. Always with the uploading stream. The most recent time they came out the tech replaced the ether cord and told me it was my router! I went and bought a new router and still had the issue. I had my son try to figure it out. He followed the internet cord outside, thats when we noticed the internet cord outside sticking out of the ground! So really when they serviced the issue over a year ago they cut the cord, used electric tape left it sticking out if the ground! They didn't even fix it in the first place over a year ago! So I had issues on and off for the past year! They lost my trust and service. Honestly if they would have fixed the issue professionally in the first place I wouldn't have had so many issues the past year. I would recommend researching before committing to start.ca.

Awesome tech agents. Adam was on the phone 1 hour and 50 minutes and was very patient and explained everything excellently. Later the same day a couple of other agents helped set up the landline. Also the longest I ever waited was 5 minutes not 45 like Rogers. Also 1/3 the cost of Rogers and is better.

They are not good Internet providers. They dip their fingers into my account without providing internet everyday so now have been cut off my account to which I still pay my bill and still don't have internet everyday so I will be switching providers

The internet is good about 90% of the time but when it goes bad it stays bad until it magically fixes itself, it has been cutting in and out every 5-15 minutes all day today to the point it is impossible to do anything, have been on the phone with tech support for 30 minutes currently and they don't believe that we've already done all the "trouble shooting" that they want numerous times today, good price, BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE

You got one star just so I could post. I was thinking of switching to Start, but after reading the reviews, I will not. The problem with these so called cheaper companies is that they are still using Rogers lines, and I have nothing but trouble with Rogers for my internet, tv and phone. When it is all said and done, I might as well stay with Rogers since I already know what to expect from them concerning their inadequate service. I already restart my modem several times a day to try to get things going, and a full conversation on the phone requires that I recall the party back at least 8 times in 2 minutes. I am not willing to take the chance on Start, sounds like I would be trading one large headache for a brand new migraine.good luck for those trying to get their services working. I know your pain!

Great company! Super easy to install, took 30s after removing from the box! Was up and running faster than expected! Haven’t had an issue yet!

My favourite experience with Start was reaching a real person at 2 AM (ish) b/c I was having technical issues. And that person was in Ontario, not a rando call centre in parts unknown. And that person was immensely helpful. (Turned out there were mechanical issues with the Start equipment in London).
My son had originally switched to Start when he was at Queens and persuaded me to dump the Evil Empire and switch to Start. I’m SO glad I did.

The internet goes out at least once a day, sometimes a simple reboot will do the trick but most times I'm stuck waiting for it to come back on, I'm sick of it, I'm paying $80+ a month and with the time it's down I get like half a month's worth out of it this is ridiculous, I'm definitely switching internet providers. Here's a tip if you raise your prices maybe raise the quality of your service as well.

Long time customer and that won't change. Been with them in 3 cities and best customer service hands down. Back in London and the fiber is awesome. Even when the country went down we were fine. I tell everybody to go with them

I've been a client at a few different properties and having worked for a competitor I understand what Start is. They're utilizing existing cable infrastructure (Cogeco in my area) and technicians but provide the customer service and tech support. They are at the whims of the cable company (which from experience can be very difficult to deal with) but they do provide great service. I've always found them friendly and they do followup to make sure the service is working well. I've also never had my price change.

Fast, affordable internet with very nice customer service reps. Unfortunately, we have found their reliability the issue. Over the past few month our internet has continuously gone down. Very frustrating to go through the same troubleshooting sequence with the support over and over, with the same result each time. “We’ll create a ticket for cogeco” after 30min to and hour. Leaving to a different provider.

Got a recommendation from my brother to go with Start and they were the cheapest around years ago. I’ve since upgraded and they are still cheaper than the other options in town, but I’ve ultimately stayed because their customer service is by far the best I’ve come across anywhere. Thanks.

I've been a customer for a few years. I can honestly say, not once has my internet gone down. Not once did I have to call tech support. I've changed addresses a few times and it's been such an easy move to a new place. Just spoke with Amanda to up my plan to a faster one and she was BRILLIANT. It was easy, quick to do, she was so clear on answering all the questions I had and was so pleasant that the call actually made my day. I would recommend to anyone and everyone at anytime.

This company is an absolute joke and a nightmare to deal with! Moved to New apt, needed internet hooked up. Paid $109 up front, they had no problem taking the money. Had a service guy show up after 2 weeks of waiting, turns out cable line dead so they weren't able to hook up that day. Tech guy said he'd have someone come out in 2 days to set up line outside. He said he'd complete a service form and send it to tech dept. Turns out he never did that, so another full week waiting. Waited another full week and didn't hear back and no one showed up. Called them asking what was going on, they said sorry and said someone would be out in 2 more days, another full week passed, still no one came and no one called. Been waiting an entire month with still no service. Every time I called I was given the gears, and told someone was coming. Long story short, been living in new apt for a month now and still no services! We just signed up with bell, who was $20 cheaper than start.ca and they'll be here tmrw! An absolute disgrace and very unprofessional to say the least. I will be certain to let everyone on fb know about this company and their incompetent staff! Unacceptable

My family and I have been using start.ca for about 2 years now, we have never had an issue I would highly recommend anybody who can get with their service to use it, great representatives and great service, going to be late on a bill call him and let him know they're great people and they will work with you!

Prices go up, quality of both internet service and customer service go down. Will be looking for a new provider. Avoid this company.

Edit: i did escalate and continue to get the worst customer service of my life so maybe instead of taking pride in yourselves you should try actually providing customer service. What a ridiculous response from this company.

I have been a customer of Start.ca for a good decade and are ecstatic with our service. Very rarely do we have interrupted service. And in a household of avid internet users, that is greatly appreciated. Keep outdoing the big boys Start.ca. You are amazing!

Service is getting worse and worse. Have been using them since 8 years ago, the quality of the service is getting unbelievable poor. Had no communiate with Cogeco who they rent their service line. Cogeco tech had absolutely no idea what to do when on site for my new internet line, waste my two weeks of time and I had to call leave from work. Did not compensate me for any inconvenience.

This company used to be great & reliable. Not sure what changed in the past few months, but there have been several service disruptions and an increase in my monthly bill. This led me to seek other options.

I found a much better deal with a competitor. I currently pay $70 with Start Home Cable Legacy 30 vs. $40 for the next 6 months ($55 afterward) for unlimited Internet 50 with a competitor.

& just in case you're wondering, Start.ca does not price match or offer any discounts to loyal customers! The service reps could care less if you cancel your service.

Also, be aware that there's a $25 installation charge and a $25 fee anytime you move to another location unless you give a 10 business day notice - something they never mentioned until it's too late.

Unfortunately the quality at Start has gone down since we started using them:

- We haven’t had internet in 2 days
- When we called tech support they said they’d call us as soon as they had an update (within 24 hours)
- We called at 24 hours and they said we’d have to wait until the next day for a technician to arrive (3 days without internet). So they knew the plan but no one was in touch with us as they promised - we had to call.
- We were very clear that all the adults who live at our house need the internet for our jobs since we work remotely and that we are already losing income due to inability to work
- Start offered no discount or relief for the inconvenience

The biggest pro of Start is the customer service, which we haven’t been treated to all weekend. This kind of outage is simply unacceptable in this day and age.

I love the simple, clear product offers and a good price. No “6 month offers”, complex bundling, or “special deals”. No hidden fees. No sleazy marketing or hard sell.
But what really sets the company apart is the exceptional service, and amazing customer service representatives. I call, and my call gets picked up right away. The person who answers can always handle my issue, no matter what it is. They are technically knowledgeable, listen to me, and can efficiently resolve my issue.

Start.ca is a GREAT local Internet provider, based out of London, ON. It is easy to get a live person on the phone, who will actually take an interest in getting your Internet up and going as fast as possible. I've been with Start.ca in three different cities so far, and the one thing I can say is that, along with reliable Internet at a FANTASTIC price, I can usually have a problem resolved in the same amount of time it would take to navigate Rogers' horrific automated menus in order to just reach someone who really doesn't care if my problem gets fixed or not. I am a LOYAL Start.ca customer because Start.ca is loyal to me.

Great internet.great price. Rather skip rogers and bell monopoly pricing and have slightly slower speed and stay with this company. Also like the fact that I dont have to deal with proprietary hardware for their modem.this company is flexible and great to deal with.

My wife and I have had Start.ca for our internet service for several years now and have always been incredibly impressed with the excellent and reliable service we receive. We are especially impressed with the amazing customer service that we experience each and every time we have needed to call in. My only criticism would be with respect to the service offerings in my area (Sarnia). The speeds I receive are as advertised (60Mbps), however I would prefer something a little faster and unfortunately we currently have the maximum speed available in my area. With that said, our speed issues are more of a nice to have and only cause problems occasionally so definitely not a huge deal for us and we are not planning on going anywhere.

Also, shout out to the last gentleman I spoke with in the tech support department who was incredible in helping me set up my Mercku mesh router using 2 Queens!

So we decided to try Start for the ISP and we love it!
we got the 100 mb dl speed for $60 and never had any issue.the first day of connection which is last August 17th, the speed reading on Download was 148 mb and after a week its sitting on 102mb dl speed.
Don't forget Excellent customer service!
will update this review after a month and see any changes.

Update:
Its been a month now everything runs smoothly. The only thing we were disappointed is they increased the monthly fee of $10. Now $70 instead of $60.
Pay $5 more and you can get the 150mb/s
We dont need that much speed but the increase is still a thumbs down for me.

2021 update:
No issues at all from the day we start using this ISP. No regrets!

I had some issues with my router. I didn't have to wait on hold at at all. The tech support person I spoke with was amazing. Kaluyuti was patient and helpful and worked through every step with me. Can't thank him enough!

Our internet was never installed properly and we switched companies after days of frustration and not being given a proper time when the technician was supposed to come. This is an objective review about our experience:

Positives:
- The modem arrived quickly and before the expected service date, giving us time to set up.
- The technician came to install the cable in our new home in a timely manner.
- We were completely refunded without any hassle.

Negatives:
- The wifi never went on after the technician left.
- Granted a new school year had begun and they were busy, but stating "a technician may show up in 24 hours" for a couple days isn't acceptable, especially since we both work. (This was the main reason we switched).
- According to the second technician from a different company, the technician contracted by Start completely cut off the previous provider's line and did "shoddy" work overall.

I can't comment about the service but overall, I think we would've been happy if the Wifi gone up or the technicians came in a timely manner.

Have been using Start for over a year now. Never had a full outage. Occasional slow downs but overall very dependable. Customer service takes a long time to connect with however Customer Service is good. There are other cheaper options at higher speed available from bigger companies. I've been patiently waiting for Start to offer higher speed packages because I want to support small businesses like Start. Not sure how much longer I would wait though.

Horrible experience! I had to repeatedly contact Start.ca for my username and password after signing up. Start.ca was supposed to activate my internet service on September 4th (they even called the day prior to confirm) after offering to arrange cancellation with my previous internet service provider. However, I woke up to no internet and was told that technicians are “working on it”. After waiting all day, I contacted them a second time to be told that I COULD get internet by the end of the day, but that they cannot guaranteed it. Again, I was told that technicians are working on it, but no further updates could be provided. I ended up canceling my account because their dreadful customer service and incompetence. So, I basically paid $100 to have my internet service with my previous provider canceled and go a day without internet, which will now turn into an entire week by the time I get activated with another internet provider, Vmedia. Vmedia is already off to a better start, as they have been diligent in sending all the necessary info including portal login. The only positive thing about Start was their prompt refund.

I used to work for this company. Even the mention of them still annoys me. It was the worst experience of my life. If you don’t believe me check their reviews on indeed and glassdoor. Please don’t support a company that chooses to operate in such a manner.

Have been with start for about 2 years. Only issue I had with them was difficulty staying connected at times but other than that was really good! Internet was fast and customer service was great:) would recommend!

Start set my account up for cancelation and acedentially pushed through to soon. Never even let me know. And cannot get internet back up for a week. I was told when I first called in on August 6th. That I'd have it back within 48 hours. 1 week is not 48 hours. Nice how the company messes up and customer suffers for it. All I got Everytime i called was excuses. Or offers of discounts, how about fixing the problem. That would be a good start.

Tired of dealing with the big providers, switched to start, and I couldn't be more impressed, starting with there phone staff that was courteous and informed, to the technical staff that were helpful, had an issue with the first modem (it happens), they rushed out a replacement, called them on a weekend to activate, and up and running with zero issues.
Also signed up for the TV package, again, works well with the supplied box from start.

And the price,

I call for technical support cause I have had no internet for a week now and they cant and didnt give me a date and time when I'll have my service back up cause my issue couldnt be worked out over the phone even after restarting the router and modem so clearly I need a technician to fix this problem and if I dont answer the phone to a technician's call cause I'll be at work they move on to another customer and the support agent says well you have to answer the call or have to call for another technician to come out again
Such garbage service and customer support I regret using this service and wouldnt recommend to any new customers

Multiple problems with internet, slow and freezes constantly. Also have phone service, doesn't work for days. Have complained many times, due to pandemic didn't want to change, however time to look for new provider. Customer service awful. Stay away.

I had been using Start for the past 8-1/2 years and was always satisfied with the service and support staff.

During a recent move I was happy to find out I could continue with Start.

The transition into my new home was seamless. Following the initial move-in day, I plugged in my cable modem and wireless router. By the time they booted up I had an Internet connection.

I would highly recommend Start!
