This is our weekly stop for my husband & I for our 2 mini waffles & fruit cup. It's great for a breakfast or lunch. I'm sure we will eventually try something else but it's perfect for $7 and that way we can spend extra for their heavenly latte. If we can't finish it in time before we have to get back to work, they'll give you "to go" cups. Staff are friendly and excellent at what they do.
My boyfriend ordered me gluten free waffles through Uber eats from here that I was super excited about until I got it. Presentation is great but the food quality is AWFUL. How are you serving this to people? You’re better off making this at home better and cheaper. I can’t believe you don’t do food quality control checks. This wasn’t just one waffle either, it’s all of them and it’s not edible.
Went on a weekday morning and were the first customers when they opened at 10am. The restaurant was clean and the atmosphere was inviting which is pleasantly surprising considering they are tucked in a corner of the plaza. Ordered the chicken and waffles, a bacon waffle sandwich for the little one, and the wife had the churro waffles. They don't serve drip coffee here, so I had a cappuccino and the wife had a chai tea. Everything was tasty, delicious and well presented. I think they hit the mark for a classier breakfast option.
Lovely breakfast place hidden in the corner of the mall. Food is tasty and plating make it an eye candy! The best part is the rich favor of their coffee.
Good food, good portions. Service is good but slow. More than 45 minutes to get our food. There are a lot of people working at the tables but just 2 actually in the kitchen cooking. Place is nice and clean. There are bees outside, so depending on the hour, beter to eat inside, specially if you are with kids. Potato waffles are really good, but they could be a bit firmer though. The regular waffle was too heavy. Food were all fresh. Our salad and fruits were really good. Overall a good experience and really beautiful food presentation. Just recommend to get there early. No credit card, only cash or debit.
Really like this location and the staff that work here. I’m really glad there are vegan options and that they keep changing our their beverage menu so things stay fresh. Would love for more vegan options to be added so I don’t need to order the same food every time I go, but besides that - Great!:)
Food was ok (most my avocado slices had black spots like it was already going bad) but the long wait I swear it was like 3 servers for the whole restaurant on a busy day
This place is an absolute gem! The food is incredible, poached eggs over a potato waffle, my minds blown The atmospheres amazing too with rotating available artworks for sale by local artists what more can I say than?
I ordered the Monte Cristo waffle sandwich via Uber Eats. Definitely interesting in comparison to the traditional offering. The waffle seemed to be a whole wheat batter; chewy where I think crisp would have been better. Overall a nice change and I would definitely try other offerings.
Delicious breakfast with my best friend. They had an Easter special when we went. We were about to order the dessert but then got too full. We will definitely be back!
Cozy & cute little place Friendly staff Potato waffle wasn’t my favorite nor the potato salad Loved the poached eggs with the Turkey stripes and the greens Milkshake
I absolutely love this place! The aesthetic and environment is super cute, I love looking at the art by various artists on the walls. Their waffle bennys and coffee / lattes are excellent. Only reason for 4 stars is the portions are on the smaller side and I’m fairly certain their beans & mashed potatoes are store bought. But will always come back for the friendly staff, good food and great environment.
Great place in Markham for brunch! Good portions, all the fruit and veg used was fresh and all the flavors on point. Nutella latte was really good as well!
The service was good given they get extremely busy, and can have trouble tending to all patrons entering. I got the Chicken and Waffles, with fruits. It wasn’t amazing compared to other spots I have tried at this price point, there are definitely better food spots if you’re there for the chicken and waffles. The food here is good, not great.
Tried the Starving Artist for the first time today. Upon entering, I noticed that they had a couple of new items as a must try. From the list, I found the Churro Starving 4 Waffles, which comes with two sides. I chose the salad as the main for both sides and Mocha latte. The waffles tasted how a churro should be, a bit of a cinnamon taste, and salad with the dressing was pretty good. The Mocha Latte was sweet but not to overpowering where it tasted good. Overall, it's a pretty good place for waffles and brunch.
We were sitting for 20 mins without being served. Portions looked quite small and there no option for a side of home fries. We were hoping this would be a better experience!
Beautiful place with amazing coffees and waffles ️ will be back to this neighbourhood gem
Update: Food might be still amazing whereas the service went down horribly
Yesterday we went in with our stroller. The front side was completely empty. We asked if we could sit there. Answer was 'you would block the way' We sat there numerous times before. We asked where else we can sit the answer was right by the washrooms where we would be in the middle for everyone.
Also if you go there even to pick up at 3.30 they may not serve you. They close at 4pm. It is at the staff's discretion
If you love waffles you will love starving artist! This spot is an amazing breakfast spot that is perfect for families and hangover cures. The food, staff and vibe is unreal and this was the first markham restaurant that had a line out the door!
This restaurant serves breakfast, dessert waffles and much more. Their drinks are massive which I don't mind at all (I ordered an vanilla almond latte) it was amazing and worth the money. Their potatoes waffles are made to perfection. Crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. Waffle is also made with attention to the the max crispiness without burning. Highly recommend it.
Thoroughly enjoyed brunch. Had B. Benny and salmon waffle sandwich, side salads and fruit salad / potato salad. Irish coffee was good and strong, cappuccino was perfect.
I had went for brunch with my family including my 4 year old nephew around 2 weeks ago in which I had bit into a piece of glass in my potato salad. Also note this was a dish I was sharing with my 4 year old nephew. I had shown the piece of glass to the waitress and she took it back to the kitchen and said she can give 10% off the bill. I did not want to create a scene and ruin others experience so we had paid for the meals and left. Right after leaving I had called the restaurant back asking for a better compensation as this was extremely hazardous and my baby nephew could have also ate it. I was told the owner would call me back which she did and then she had told me she is going to call the bank to see if the transaction can be reverted and get back to me in a couple of days. I received no call back and so I had followed up again with the restaurant and asked when the owner would call me back. Again I received no response. And here we are two weeks later with still no response. I am extremely disappointed with this unprofessionalism and them taking this situation extremely lightly. Save yourself the hassle and your health and do not eat from here!
Food was really good. Ordered the poached egg and potato waffle as well as chicken and waffles. Also ordered the vanilla and orange milk shakes. The orange tastes like orange creamsicle which was really good. Food was great and really filling. Gluten free options available for waffles. Servers were really nice but it was really busy so it was a bit on the slower side. Overall I really liked it and will be back ️
A hidden gem! I’m so over the typical breakfast places in Markham. So happy to have found this cute cafe so close to home. The quality of the food and the ambiance are perfect for a girls brunch date! We tried the almond latte and it was delicious. Eggs Benny with potatoes never let me down here!
